Based on a friends review, I ordered some food and I was delightfully surprised. The portions are generous and more so, the food was truly delicious and at unbeatable prices. They have a wide range of veg and non veg starters like dumplings, wantons, chilly chicken, prawns fried and fish in various sauces. Try the Korean Chilly Lamb Dry for sure. Cheers.
Fantastic Value for Money
I had heard good reviews about this place and was not disappointed when i visited here. Had chicken dumplings, special fried rice and paenang kai (thai curry) and everything tasted awesome... the quantity was a lot and the price was reasonable too... came out to around 800 for 2 people... we could have kept it down had we known the huge quantity earlier....though the place can do better in terms of ambiance, situated in the crowded galleria mall, it has made the most of the space available...overall a really good experience...
Was a little skeptical about this place after reading some negative online.. But decided to try for myself. I would categorize this as a premium Indian Chinese place. Has some exotic dishes in the menu, but made just the way we desis would love. Despite going during the noon rush hour, the waiters were responsive enough. The food was tasty no doubt. I had a chilly chicken with a pleasant twist - added basil leaves, which gave a nice flavor to the whole dish. Had it with special noodles. Yum. The prices are not to expensive, but not too affordable either. Paid 400 for those two dishes. I would recommend this for anyone wanting a better experience than regular mumbai Chinese.
We reached Powai from our wonderful outing and I really wanted to have a good dining yesterday. Since I had my kid along I was really hard pressed for the distance. The Galleria Shopping Centre is college hangout and the upper level did not have any decent restaurant. My wandering brought me to China House. After seeing the surroundings I entered without much expectations.
As I opened the menu card I was first amazed at the variety. Then as the food rolled on I was truly pleased with our decision to step in. The soups out there are especially kickass. We had teh China House Special which was true to its name.
The starters wer great too. So in all a good experience.
The highlight of the evening was the bill which was a true VFM. A sure visit again.
Great food , decent ambience
Been planning to check this place out for a long time and went here for a friday noon lunch with office mates. The only issue was delay in service which took quite a bit. The fod when arrived i must say was really good the dumplings are great , and we had chicken in oyster sauce and chicken noodles. Good portion size for 3 of us. All in all this place is good value for money and great food .
Guys i must tell you.. the food here is simply amazing.. its a semi fine dine restaurant.. with warm friendly staff.. not a typical shu shaa fine dine ... not very expensive.. rather id say very economical for our wallets these days during the epic EXPENSE high rise days in our country...
the food quality is like what you may get in a fine dine restaurant where you would land up paying a bomb just for 2.
the dishes are delicious and they have quite a vast menu... foods great.. they even got thai dishes which surprisingly were really good..
must try it out.. i loved my experience.. will visit soon again ..
neway i order athome :D
How did we miss this place???
We are in Powai practically every weekend for lunch and at the same food court next to China House many times. How we missed this place is still a mystery to us... It seems like a small place from outside but once you enter you realise its very cozy, comfortable and more importantly good food... Whatever we ordered, veg and non veg were very good... the portions are just right for 2 people and we didnt waste a thing of what we ordered... great find at an unlikely place :)
Accidental trip but worth every bite !
CHina House wasnt the prefered choice for the weekday lunch, but still sauntered in.The Ambience is bright thanks to the open windows & one can see shady trees, giving the view a calmin effect. There are Chinese fans & lamps,Buddha statues.
COming to the food, started with teh Veg Manchow which was very tasty with all the right flavors.Next tried Kung Pao Paneer & Tai chin chicken. These 2 were spicy & delicious. The Veg Clay pot Rice felt little bland, compared to the spicy starters we had.
Though we were full to the brim,we couldnt resist the Crispy Honey Noodles with vanilla icecream. We polished it all off.
This is definitely VFM & a quaint place definitely recommended.
Awesome place for real chinese...
Ok its not exactly Mainland china...nor does the chef speak Mandarin...but the food here is absolutely fantastic...and as authentic as you can get at this price.
The ambience is calm, and friendly...the waiters are all very nice,,,and service was good...
There's a lot on the menu that you can go for...Chinese, tibetan, malaysian, and other oriental stuff.
Its not the regular dine and wine joint, like others in Mumbai, you will only get Budweiser here.
Go there if you are looking for good chinese food, and some peace of mind...
Price : 5 of us were there and we ate heartily, we had 3 kinds of soup, 2-3 kinds of starters, rice, noodles and all, the bill came surprisingly only about INR 1,300
Although wine is mentioned on the menu, it was not available in the house.
Note : it will actually be very nice to be here on a date.
Hope you have the same experience i did.
Pathetic service and food poisoning
Absolutely pathetic service, the waiter will make you wait for atleast half an hour (if you are lucky!) to take your order. The quality of service is a disaster. The only plus is the good ambience. But how does that count even an ounce, if the food and service have a gaping hole to be filled in terms of quality.
And to top it, I was down with food poisoning for the next couple of days!
So all in all, an absolute 'NO'!
Average Ambience, Good Food, Can be better
I went to China House On Saturday afternoon after a freind recommended it. As I entered, the place didn't leave a great impression on me. Average ambience, small-size look, casual waiters made me think that the food would be equivalent to any other small chinese restaurant or mobile vans.
We ordered both veg and non-veg dishes and they really tasted good. Though service was not very fast, teh food is really tasty and worth trying. They dont command a premium, however the prices are not that low as well.
It will be great if they could work on their set-up a little bit to make the place more pleasing for customers.
Overall, China House is worth trying once.
Been there last week over the weekend. Found the place to be very average.
The waiters were more keen on watching TV than serving customers.
The soups were also very average. The Veg Dim Sums looked decent, but the taste didn't match the looks.
We were served ice tea which was not chilled. It took the waiters 10 mins to arrange for ice.
Don't think will be going back there.
Superb food, wonderful ambiance.
I've been to China House only a couple of times but have always enjoyed the experience. I can only speak for veg food and it is delicious. The portions are pretty sizeable. The pricing is slightly on the upper side, but the ambiance makes it worth it. The decor, music, seating, service, everything's awesome. Definitely a place I'd want to visit again and again! :)
AUTHENTIC CHINESE AND THAI
The new look of China House at 136 Galleria is very good especially the interiors. The Chinese and Thai dishes are very tasty and different than Mainland China and China Garden. The Pot rice,Kung Pao Paneer,Momos,Tai Chin Chicken,Thai Red Curry etc all dishes prepared to the palate taste.very prompt and efficient service.Keep It Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
elegant ambiance but, poor food & service.
China House used to be this little cozy Chinese eatery tucked in food court in Galleria. It was small but, neatly done. They had Chinese fans, paintings and little articles resembling China hung on the walls. I liked the food. It was authentic Chinese food prepared at normal prices. We used to order from here every other time. Our favorite being Salt and Pepper chicken and some Prawn dish whose name I don't recollect. Their Pot rice, Cantonese Rice was signature. I liked their Chicken Chilly and Crispy as well. Recently, they've shifted into a new place. The place is done nicely. It has a very chic ambiance. The walls are white washed. They had yellowish golden whitewash done on the walls. Whilst the painting and the artifacts remain the same. It was well lit and nicely done. We'd ordered for
- Sweet corn Chicken Soup
- Hot and Sour Soup
- Tai Chi Chicken
- Su Mai Prawns
- Schezwan Rice
- Chicken in red sauce
- Crispy Noodles with honey and sesame served with Vanilla Ice-cream.
The service was extremely lousy. Everything had to be given several reminders until it was finally on our table. The waiters were busy running around the place. The food took a fortnight to arrive. We had to wait for 40 minutes until the soup was actually on our table. The food was a real disappointment. The Sweet corn tasted okayish but, the Hot and Sour tasted quite awful. The chicken dish was practically burnt. The prawn dish however was well done and,the quantity! Jeeeezz.. The portions were tiny. The Schezwan rice hardly retained it's flavor and the chicken gravy dish wasn't any good either. The saving grace was the Crispy Noodles with the ice cream. The bill for four pax along with 12.5% Tax and a compulsory 5% Service charge came upto Rs 1190. I mean why should be have to pay 5% of our bill for such complacent service. I absolutely detest it. The food is no where near Mainland China, Maybe it was a Bad day? Anyway. The management needs to hire a few less confused trained staff and needs to beef up their service . I might give it a try a couple of weeks/months later. Hopefully, my experience won't be as bad it was yesterday. The captain apologized to us in the end. Hope they a quick notice of and it change for the better.
PS: I still preferred the old China - House. Their restaurant was cozier, their service was prompt and of course their brilliant food.
