Lively atmosphere and delectable desserts
It is one of the most unique chocolate specialized joint I have ever been to.This cafe cum chocolateria situated exactly opposite to Bora - Bora hometown cafe is a warm place to have a dessert.Ambience is very relaxing, to spend some quality time with friends.and loved ones. Has a great platter and chocolate variety fairly priced . Spanish chocolate with expresso and a grilled chicken brown bread sandwich are my regular orders. Fondue with Dark Chocolate dip or Milk Chocolate, both are awesome.
love the churros
Like there is no other place in the city that makes better churros may be mexiloko but I still love san churos. From the hospitality to the ambiance the restaurant has it all. I love the churros, they are soft crunchy and absolutely delicious. The chocolate dip is also so yum! Need to go back now! So many memories here!!
Go for the drinks!
A confession: I have never tried the Churros as I find them quite expensive. But, and that is a big BUT, I do go to San Churros for the Hot Chocolates and Classic Spanish Shakes. The Mint Macarena is a favorite with just the right amount of sugar and just the right thickness of the shake. The hot chocolate shakes are also yummy. The place is open till 1 am.
It's expensive to have a meal, but you must definitely visit to satiate your sweet tooth after a meal or if you are meandering in Bandra. A great place to visit to have some good conversations and yummy stuff at midnight!
If you love chocolate and desserts that are hard to pronounce then you will love this place..been here just once with a college friend..ordered for a veg panini because I was starving after a whole day spent on doing a college project and a churros platter but panini was not great-I thought it was bland..and the churros were tasty but so expensive! I wouldn't be able to afford to go back here again.
It has to be chocolate all the way
After a hearty meal, we were searching for a place for desserts. Driving along the streets of Bandra, it struck us to visit Chocolateria San Churro. Must have reached there just in time before they shut the place because it the last order of the day. Move upstairs and a pandora opens up. The place is quite spacious on level 1 and provides comfortable sitting.
We quickly ordered a serving of Churros with white chocolate, a classic spanish hot chocolate and a strawberry banana split. A heavenly platter of chocolate variations...all gulped down within minutes. You have to eat it to experience the richness of chocolate served in San Churro.
Certainly remains a top on the list dessert place for me. Hoping to visit there soon.
Chocolate. It is the stuff poems and paeans are written for. Dont get me wrong, I love chocolate as much as the next person but I like my desserts just the way I like to live life; with a fair bit of sprinkling of variety. To walk into Chocolateria San Churro and expect anything other than chocolate-y items to be on the menu is a bit daft. You know what to expect, its all in the name! San Churro might not mean anything to you, but Chocolateria sure should!
I wouldnt go so far as to say I have a massive sweet tooth, but I do enjoy a good dessert quite so often. On a balmy evening, the wife was yearning for something a little sweet (Im tall, dark and handsome, but dont count) for her post dinner dessert craving. Somehow, she zeroed in on the Chocolate Tapas on offer and the two of us set out along with 2 other friends of ours who jumped at the chance for some quality time out away from home sweet home.
Chocolateria San Churro is spread over two levels, and its the second level that you will be seated at as you order whatever it is you seek to clog your arteries. The wife was like Quick Gun Murugan, quick on the draw. Im sure she placed the order for the Chocolate Tapas before any of us even had the chance of plonking ourselves into those seats. After much hemming and hawing, I ordered for a Mocha Mambo while another friend called for a Multigrain Paneer sandwich to keep her company.
The Chocolate Tapas was more chocolate-laden than I could have hoped to have sat through at one sitting. With some Cake, Chocolate Pretzels, Vanilla Ice Cream, Chocolate Sauce, Chocolate Balls and Churros on offer, it was with some dismay that I realized it was just me and the wife digging into this! God almighty, have mercy on my soul. Im not even that big a fan of chocolate! The first to vanish were the Churros which I always found to be oversized, less crunchy, Spanish chakli if one were to go purely on appearances. Call me a child, but I always make that comparison and find it amusing.
The Chocolate Tapas is a dessert platter that seemed to me like its a never-ending sea of chocolate that I would drown in. I went for the Churros first and I really enjoyed them, soft and laden with powdered sugar, the perfect accompaniment to the chocolate sauce. Unfortunately, there were 4 of us at the table and 3 Churros, so I saved everyone the effort of doing Math to see who gets how much and simply had 2 of them myself. I think we can all agree that thats only fair. If I were to make it back here, it would only be for the Churros, frankly.
My friends steered clear of the Chocolate Pretzels and so I polished off that as well, and its salty-sweet texture just didnt go well with me for some reason. The rest of the platter was just as disappointing. The Chocolate Cake and Ice Cream was decent, but I have had (and am sure will have) much better versions of it. There were 2 Chocolate Balls as well, and to my great dismay I picked the one that was not nearly as nice as the other one. How very disappointing for me, a fair summary of my evening here.
Which brings me to my Mocha Mambo rather nicely; comprising Dark Chocolate, Espresso and Dark Chocolate, I loved its dark nature because whatever else I was having was sickly sweet at times, so it served as a lovely contrast to it and I was relishing it. But as the hour wore on and it was all I was left to nurse, its dark, insidious nature wore me thin and I fell out of love with it a bit somehow. Would I recommend it? Yes, but only by itself. Have it with something sweet at your own peril.
Chocolateria San Churro is a bit of a mixed bag for me then. Its fairly pricy, offers good fare but not nearly enough variety for my taste (which you cant blame them for, they are a chocolateria after all!). Id still much rather frequent Naturals or Hokey Pokey since theres always something new to be had there even though it is only ice cream. That is the truth, however bittersweet you might find it to be.
If choclate is a sin I'm a sinner
Delectable delicious divine are just adjectives that I can thing of right away ...san churros is the perfect place where indulgence is key...so be it your cheat day in your fruit and veggies only diet...be it your anti depressant or your pigs night out this chocolateria fits the bill ...located right in buzz town aka linking road albeit slightly off it this dessert bar has perfected the art of giving you the lovies...its an open pick with anything and everything being awesome but before I mention anything I have to say two words BERRY BIZOCHO...I can plainly describe it as a dessert you start eating with one spoon graduate to eating with two and by the end of it your using your fingers and nails to scrape anything that's left of it...brownies topped with strawberries infused with chocolate mouse molten white chocolate and custard topped with milk chocolate...as one of my friends rightly summarized..is this food or is this a dream....they keep having specials and I try not to wander to close to this restaurant as I end up meandering in ...recently they came up with a seven layered chocolate cake devouring which I truly understood what it means to experience heaven on earth...everything I type herein may be a hyperbole but its truly worth it...I'm sure their soon going to rename san churros "death by chocolate"
P.S the churros after which their name is surmassed is just about average ...
I happened to interview the owner of this place for a college project, and was amazed by the vision and drive he had in him...
The place has amazing churros, cupcakes and pastries. However, I do not recommend the hot chocolate, which isn't as great as you would have hoped it would be...
It is a lovely place for enjoying the evening with your friends.
The place might look small as u enter, but they do have a seating section above as well and i must say that it is spaced out...Great place for cakes, chocolates and cheesecakes. Bandra never stops surprising me and when it comes to food and drinks this place has been an ultimate destination having tons and tons of options. So Chocolateria has added one more star to my bandra list of eateries.they serve delightful shakes and signature desserts of which the berry bizcocho which has fresh ripe strawberries is quite popular.only thing after 10.30pm u get very limited items .
Heaven for chocolate lovers!!!
Been there last weekend. If you are in Bandra and craving for chocolate, then this is the place to come. Chocolate lovers would fall in love with this place. As I'd been here after my dinner at Bora Bora so did not have much space for desserts. We just ordered one 7 layered chocolate cake in between 2 people. The chocolate cake was sinfully delicious...I could have eaten 2 more pieces of this cake, but had to resist my taste buds considering my diet plan. If you are a big group, then do order their churos and chocolate fondue. The ambiance of the place is also good and they have good sitting space. I'm surely going to visit this place the next time I'm in Bandra.

love is in the air
What to say about a place that filled with good things.. We tried the churros the most famous dish on the menu..I really like different dips..it was a very new experience .. We also tried a mango drink..just loved it..the ambience is amazing ..romantic...and the menubis so promising..
For sheer indulgence
Very decent place for conversations and some indulgence. Have been to both Andheri & Bandra one but prefer Bandra one any day.. More spacious and the menu is much bigger at the bandra one. My favourite is Rocky Road (not available at Andheri one) and also surprisingly I love the coffee here,I think its better than most of the regular places in Mumbai.. and as far as food is concerned, it all about chocolate.. Savouries are pretty ok and nothing to write home about...
This place, the first time i entered, i wanted to try everything on the list.
Started with the Chocolate fondue, it comes with chhuros, fresh fruits, pretzels, cake etc, we three friends were trying to eat it as fast as we could, we did not want the other to eat more, it was just so chocolicious. We finished it in 10 mins after a tummy fulled lunch.
Then there some 7 layered chocolate cake, must try and highly recommended.
There are ice creams with toppings, that was good.
Churros are a must try.
This place i only convince myself not to go very often is for weight issues!
It's an irresistible indulgence for chocoholics!
PS - Check your weight before you enter this deliciously divine chocolate heaven!
For Chocolate Lovers
Of my 3-4 visits, the chocolate mousse cake was amazing, (mousse lover), the 7 layered chocolate pastry was quite dry the last time, after complaining he warmed it a little and put some extra chocolate sauce which made it a little better. The most amazing thing here is the chocolate fondue - must try
Its all about chocolate!
We came in here after dinner in Hometown Cafe last wednesday (right across the street)... The first thing that struck us was churos (didn't know about this. a friend had recommended this place). We first ordered a Berry Bizcocho. But while we were seated there, we got tempted by the orders around us and thought we should try the churros as well. So ordered Churros poco. Berry Bizcocho arrived first and it was a delicious mix of melted chocolate and chilled custard (they replaced strawberry with kiwi due to the non-availability of the former). Then the churros arrived which didn't enjoy much. Found it a little on the sweeter side. These 2 desserts cost us around Rs. 550. Would definitely come back to try other items they offer.
I have tried the banana chocolate milkshake , the strawberry mousse and the fondue for two. The milkshake is nice and smooth but the absolute delight is the fondue which although a bit steep is totally worth it. A warm pot of chocolate heated by a candle served with goodies ( no spoilers sorry ).
Welcome to the World of Churros
I was introduced to this place by a friend of mine. The first visit was just to try their famed churros with chocolate sauce.
On my second visit I discovered their world of Shakes and other sinful chocolate things.
My loyalty will still remain with the churro.
A churro is basically a dough deep fried till dark brown and at San Churros its served with a chocolate sauce/ dip. The main ingredient in this is obviously the chocolate sauce. Anything dipped would make an ideal dessert.
This is a place you would like to visit not after a meal but after skipping a meal.
A definite must try dessert in the ever increasing international desserts being available in Mumbai.
not VFM in the slightest
Yes, the churros are decent. But given the prices, decent is completely below what you'd expect. The amount of chocolate served with the churros is pitiful. Taste-wise it would probably be about average and a cozy place for chilling out but truthfully, I'd steer clear of what this place is supposed to be all about!
Nice Place to hang out with your bunch of Friends!
I'm a regular at San churro as its vry close to my work place. I love the shakes, waffle, coffee the variety of desserts they serve. Staff is vry friendly. Free Wifi is also available whc is a big plus. Good music. All in all I always have a good time being there.
My first introduction to churros being the lunch line in a U.S. middle school, a crunchy fried dough sprinkled with powdered sugar costing 50 cents, I hadn't eaten churros in quite a number of years. Walking distance from our home, husband and I wandered into San Churro one night and decided to give the churro platter with two chocolate dip sauces (dark and milk) a go. Best decision ever. The churro batter yielded a chewy interior with a lightly crunched exterior, and dipping sauces with just enough sweetness to compliment the churros without going into the sickly-sweet territory. In short, divine. I think we ate the sauces with spoons after polishing off the churros.
We've been back a number of times since that first night, and always enjoy bringing our visiting U.S. guests to try it out as well. Husband sometimes orders a slice of their chocolate cake to take home, and we agree that this place has earned its way into our top 10 places for dessert in Bandra.
Every time I leave CSC feeling like I've put on a few hundred kilos. Every time I vow to order only one thing. But their menu is so darn appetising! Love the churros. Oh and a must try is their Aztec chocolate drink (with CHILLI!!) great ambience, great location! Only their service is a bit slow. It's a little difficult to flag down a waiter once he's done serving you, he seems to disappear.
HAIR in the ice cream!!
The subject says its all! I had ordered the strawberry banana split an what do I find! HAIR!!! A place as renowned as this does not maintain the basic level of hygiene. I've frequented the place so many times and I don't think anyone would expect HAIR IN THEIR ICE CREaM! They had nothing to say to my complaint and casually blamed it on the surrounding... To add it not only did they NOT waive off the amount but they also charged me a service charge. Absolutely appalled by the attitude! DISGUSTING!
FILL YOU UP
skip the main course. dessert it out. this is one of my favorite dessert places in mumbai. its tasty, great service and ambiance. reasonable. what more do u want.
from the tiny oreo cookies to the tall shakes, everything is good.
i LOVE the sanchuros there... dipping them in milk chocolate is heavenly.
you must try their sanchuros with icecream and chocolate.. its something you cant find anywhere else and it is certainly worth the money
Overpriced and pretty average
My actual rating would have been 2.5 but it seems I can't do that on burrp.
Anyways I went there a week back .Have heard a lot about the place and it was crowded.Luckily I got a table. The place is really nice and has a good ambiance.Love the painting and interior work here. The service is very good.Staff is welcoming and polite.I ordered the Churros. I felt they were pretty average and for the quantity highly overpriced. My friend ordered the Hot Chocolate which she said was good but she said she has had better Hot Chocolate.Again the Hot chocolate was also highly overpriced.I ordered a Mango Tango shake which was quite disappointing. Not enough of the mango flavour and it was too creamy and dull.Overall the place is not all that great especially when its so overpriced. But my rating reflects mainly the service and ambiance .
Waste Of Money
Had been to San Churro today after listening from many ppl that its one of the best place for chocolate lovers.Had Ordered Chocolate Fundue and after seeing was shocked with three strawberries, three bannans and some caramel popcorn two mash mellows ,two small brownies with chocolate sauce. They charged you bloody 500 bugs for this crap stuff the serve you.
Not at all recommended to anyone and waste their money.
Taste of the Churros is not at all worth the price they charge.
An average place to come with a large group of friends to have a good time as the ambiance is way better than the food here.
The service staff is courteous and polite.
The 2 stars are only for the ambiance and staff.
HIGHLY overpriced average quality Churros.
Chocolate Lovers Delite
This place is awesomeeeeee.......there are no words to describe this place. Me and my brother bumped into this place whilst we wer looking for something else, so we decided to give it a go annd guess what we loved it!! Normally my brother who does not really comment on food also loved it. The Brussels waffles were to die for, the chocolate ice cream and the vanilla ice cream was just out of this world. Loved this place to the core.
I had read about san churros and was waiting to try it out ,so a few days back me and my friend went there.
The seating arrangement downstairs was a bit congested ,to sit in our chairs we had to tell the people from the adjoining table to shift,
when we asked whether we could sit in the section upstairs they said it was closed at that time.
we had an icecream sundae ,well the ice cream was ok but the brownie was a little hard
the service was ok
so overall,Nothing exceptional,an average place
Visited the place on Saturday night with friends - first visit. What struck me is the great ambience, courteous staff and ofcourse loads of chocolate in various form. The top floor seating is spacious for dessert place (which is a surpirse in Bandra).
Great place to for dessert, and recommended visit for all (they do serve other flavours also). Reasonably priced as well. Just dont order the 7 layer cake for only yourself!! Too good, too big!
A chocoholic's fantasy come true
If there be a paradise for chocoholics in the city, it is here, it is here, it is here...
I walked into San Churro out of sheer curiosity and am so glad to have done it. This place is every choco-maniac's fantasy come true.
The chocolate fondue, which you can choose from milk, dark or white chocolate, is a must-have. The melted chocolate in a fondue pot is served with portions of pretzels, marshmallows, strawberries, banana slices, churros and brownie. And it is fantastic and fun, especially if you are sharing it with friends and want to josh around a bit.
The big slab of brownie with frosted sugar is delicious too. And it takes quite some effort to polish it off single-handedly.
The cupcakes make a nice gifting option. The only item that I was not happy with - and not because of the taste, mind you - was the strawberry tart, which is so big that eating it can be a messy affair.
But overall, this is one place I am sure I shall be visiting regularly, must to my waistline's chagrin.
Desserts to DIE FOR!!!
If you are a chocolate lover, head straight for this place..! Conveniently located on Waterfield Road, this place has the best- 'est' Churros in town- believe me it matches the stuff I have experienced in the best of bakeries worldwide..and the chocolate fondue is yummmmm! Kudos to the concept and the managers, staff everyone :)
Hunt to discover the perfect hot chocolate ends..
San Churros is Chocolate Heaven..The Milk-Hot Chocolate is just perfect and unadulterated..I am definitely heading back there soon enough to try the Dark and White hot chocolate as well..
As a suggestion, I wish they would incorporate few more non-chocolate based options in their food menu..Other than that no complaints whatsoever :) :)
Not My Kind Of Chocolate
Yes, it's true... I didn't like the chocolate at San Churro. I also, thought the whole Churro bit was over-rated. The fondue which is their main preparation comes with churros, fruits, marshmellows and some other stuff to dip and eat with the supposedly yumm melted chocolate. However, I didn't like the taste of their melted chocolate... it just didn't taste like melted chocolate. Besides the fondue we also tried couple of their sundaes and shakes which were strictly okay.
San Churro is not a name you usually associate with chocolates, but 1 trip to the chocolateria & this name is gona stick 4ever! San churro is like a breathe of fresh air in terms of its products & ambience, its nothing like anything i have ever come acroos ans certainly a lot better than i expected.
CHURROS are yummy and make a brilliant combo with their molten chocolate & their CHOCOLATE FONDUE takes your love for chocolate to a totally different level. Now i am a self confessed San Churro addict.
a perfect delight
i read a couple of reviews here & realised that San Churro is not for everyone. You dont go to THE TAJ and expect them to charge you as if you were sitting in an udipi restaurant. Their cuppa of hot spanish chocolate has substituted the age old "chai" as my companion for a foggy, rainy day. The interiors- bright & cheerful is an instant mood pick-up with the spanish tiles completes the San Churro experience.
WELCOME TO MUMBAI
Hey I agree with every1
. I liked its authentic Spanish ambiance . Pretty Unlike Other Cafes. The term "Chocolateria" surely suits them.
One complain: I just wish this place would have opened when we won WORLD CUP after so many years .. It woud have been place to cheer the team.
The conquistador arrived; albeit a tad unprepared!
Mumbai (especially the 'burbs) seem to be in the midst of a dessert-rush! Every now and then one can see new dessert shops coming up. well, to this I can only say...BRING 'EM ON!
San Churros is another dessert shop thats opened up in Bandra a few months ago.
The place has 2 floors. The ground floor has only a couple of tables and is predominantly occupied by a large counter showcasing all the sinful pleasures of the place-- the gooey brownies, the hand made delicate chocolates, the creamy cakes.. you get the picture, right?
Well, when I entered this place, I also got a whiff of seduction which I know will ultimately lead to a larger trouser size. The surprise however, awaits you on the 2nd floor- its huge, its airy, and it has two large windows that overlooks the busy & chaotic Waterfield road. The seating is comfortable, the ambiance is easy on the eyes, and the service is pretty attentive.
Now since the place prides itself on its 'spanish' links, I figure why not order their signature item:- churros! So, with absolute disregard to my ever growing waist, I order the 'churro di medio', and a Spanish hot chocolate (Classic). My friend orders an interesting looking Strawberry Bizcocho (hope i spelt that right). Now came the toughest part- waiting for the goodies to come-- and yes the wait was fairly long for some reason.
The churros were a bit oily, nothing too impressive really. However, the chocolate dips that came along with the churros ( I had called for a milk choco dip and a white choco dip) were very impressive. They were creamy and tasted wonderful. The Hot chocolate was okay-ish. Didn't set off any explosions in my mouth.
The Strawberry bizcocho, however, was the another story altogether! It was brilliant!!!! It was a glass of chocolate cake, mixed with fresh strawberry pieces, lathered in custard and milk chocolate. Just by typing about it, my mouth has started salivating. :) I highly recommend this one!
All in all, the experience was fairly pleasant. The staff was attentive and were happy to help. The ambiance was relaxing and we were never rushed, even after we had eaten. The food, however, was a bit of a disappointment; I expected more from an international chain and chocolateria. The variety they offered (type of chocolates) wasn't up to the mark, and the taste of what they did offer, was not proportionate to its price. I'd rather recommend you give this place a skip and head over to 'A chocolate Affair', which is also in Bandra.
...And always remember, chocolates are the key to world peace! :p
Nice place, bad churros
This place is extremely inviting. The ambience is very cosy and well done up and there is ample seating space.
The staff is patient and you can sit here for as long as you want( we sat for 4 hrs!). This was the good part.
Now for the bad part. We ordered churro de medio which came with 6 churros and 2 miniature bowls filled with chocolate sauce. Definitely not worth the price. The churros are EXTREMELY oil, sufficient to give you high cholestrol and oil and maida and chocolate sauce make a horrible combination. Infact, they were so bad that we couldn't even finish all six of them.
2 stars only for the ambience!
I've been to San Churros twice so far and both times my experience has been fantastic. The ambience is cosy and warm. And it's a perfect place to go to indulge yourself. The desserts too have been fantastic. The last time we went, we ordered a fondue for two, and we all loved it. The staff were also nice enough to provide us with extra portions of everything as we were three people.
I'd definitely go back once again.
extra Ordinary innovation, ordinary stuff.
Welcome innovation compared to other local coffee shops like CCD, Barista, and so on very innovative and diffrent menu , tried some chocolate based pastry and unfortunately wasnt what i was looking forward after paying INR 160 plus taxes for a piece, bt was well supplemented by the Ambiance , so in short quality is poor only gains in its ambiance, well a place to be tried out specially with groups to truy the chocolate churros, Needs to buck up big time for its quality
Dont think its worth a next Visit!!!
City's first Chocolateria. Or so was the description of the Australian-chain San Churro mentioned at several places on the web. Without beating around the bush, I'd say, San Churro fails to live up to the promise of being a 'chocolateria'. When you use the word 'chocolateria' in your logo and on your boards, you better have enough varieties of chocolate on your menu. The flagship or signature item Churro is oily to taste, the chocolate dip it comes along isn't the best quality chocolate too, and the price for the measly portion is not funny. The food menu needs a price re-check (although that is not going to happen considering it is an international chain and wants to position itself in the premium segment), and the servers, staff need some training. I say this because the attendants could not answer our queries about the menu, beverages. The glasses were stinking and a whole bottle of mineral water that we poured in them was wasted. Only because you step in, all excited to try the new chocolateria in town, you will have to order something from whatever little there is to choose. For cocoa-lovers a Theobroma offers twice as more than a San Churro. Even the Oven Fresh outlet in Shivaji Park does a good job with chocolates, pastries and other bread and bakery items.
finally a place to indulge my sweet tooth after a delectable meal at red box cafe rt across the street...the thg i luv abt san churros is its ambience.as soon as u step in,it feels lik ur in sm cosy haven...d decor is warm n inviting.i've been there twice bt m a big fan already:-)
the first tm,i had an azteca coffee n a new york cheesecake...d cofee was somethg totally different wit its cinnamon n chilli infusion...d warmth just seeped thru me wit the first sip itself...b sure to share it wit a frnd coz the qty's very generous.d new york cheesecake didn't live upto my expectations though as it was a bit soggy n quite bland...
the second tm,we ordered Berry bizcocho -which is a treat for fruit lovers like me..just d rt amt of tarty sweetness -and a triple chocolate mousse which was heaven.it was so creamy tht i just didn't want it to get over...
d service is prompt n d attractive display of goodies and merchandise is very appealing to d eye.
all in all,a must visit:-)
Warmer than its awsm Warm Chocolate
I am more like an Old Monk guy in Rains, but for a change dropped in at San Churro while it poured outside. The churros are a must try (careful with the quantity it could pleasantly surprise you). What one would miss here after overdose of chocolates is something spicy, maybe a good sandwich! The service was great and ambience pretty warm.
Food Quantity / Pricing - 4
Food Quality - 3
Ambiance - 5
plzz improve the quality of cottage chesse / paneer in the multigrain roll , and add some more paneer dishes , plus they were flies and small fly like insects on the meal . The Chefs do not wear gloves .
September 26, 2011response from management at Chocolateria San Churro:
We apologise for the flies insode the restaurant. Which chefs are you talking about? if its the churros chef them i am sorry but we cannot let a person wear gloves who cooks with oil at a temperature of 200 C.
Do let us know of anything else we can improve upon.
San Churro Team
Been here thrice, and everything's always been fabulous. I personally don't like churros that much - they're a little heavy - but the chocolate drinks, cakes, and pops on a stick are all really delicious. It can get a little sweet, so I'd recommend sticking to one thing at a time. The seven-layer-chocolate cake is INSANELY decadent, remember to share :) It is a little expensive, though, if you go overboard and order a bunch of things.
The sandwiches are surprisingly quite good.
Finally a ROCKSTAR Dessert Place
This is a great place....the churros ofcourse are FANTASTIC best in the city so far that we have tried,,,the ambience of the place is great (checkout wide open seating upstairs..) the aromas of brewing choc or desserts tempt you and the other desserts on offer also are great
Try the hot chocolate house style or if you like it darker there are options tooo,,,,,also we always get this one particular dessert with a large cup and chocolate and cake and syrup i forget its name but its on the visual display get that as well.....
Its always nice to chill with friends sharing desserts
A tad expensive but worth every rupee .....
San Churros is a very nice place with a great ambience and amazing food. They have a fantastic menu- I have been there many times, and recommended it to many friends. It has two floors, both quite lovely- the ground floor has a view of the kitchen counter, where you can see how your churros are made, and the first floor is peaceful, though bustling with activity.
coffee and chocolate at its best!
San churro is perfect.
i visited this place few days back and fell in love with this place.
im not much of a fancy choco combo fan but they definitely got the basics right!mocha coffee is one of the best i had in a long time. the chocolate cookes, brownies, mousse et all... they were perfect. ambiance is relaxed,upbeat...damages- coffees priced at Rs 80-90(worth it!) and pastries at Rs 120 onwards. san churro is my new coffee destination in bandra! :)
A crisp new place..
A friend and i walked into San Churros today. It had a welcoming aroma as well as an extreamly pleasant decor with plenty of room...decor wise, they definitely played on the standards set by the eatery which is originally based in Australia...We stuck to ordering what the place is famous for...a portion of poco(small is spanish) churros with a pot of dark chocolate...the "pot" did seem more like a bowl in which indian restaurants serve their pickle, lime etc..but tastewise, id give the combination a 10/10...the churros stood by their original spanish counterparts and the melted dark chocolate was divine..all in all..160 bucks well spent. We next ordered the Chocolate float, a cold Classic Spanish milk based chocolate drink with a scoop of white chocolate ice cream...tastewise - Satisfactory, although personally i feel one should stick to a plain cold dark chocolate drink rather than mixing in the white chocolate ice cream.. it kills the charm of the classic spanish chocolate which is rich and thick on its own...portion wise - not too satisfactory..it was a tiny glass costing a 150 bucks...i'd have expected at least another 200 ml going into the glass for the price...
overall, we were fairly satisfied..the ambience and the richness of the chocolate didnt allow us to move for a very long time...this place is definitely a must-try!
novel idea but needs improving
san churros is a dessert lounge which has some new ideas and menus in it. the decor is well done and deserves credit for trying out a new concept overall. I tried the churros with chocolate dip which tasted nice also tried the berry caramel dessert which looked amazing on the menu. I felt the churros are good but after that initial fad it will run out of steam and i dont see customers returning over a long period to come for just this. The berry caramel dessert was dissapointing. it was made in a glass and had a piece of cake at the bottom and was topped with caramel, custard and strawberries. it tasted alright but wasnt very exciting ...i thought the cake should have been warm and the custard and strawberries should have been cold..but instead everything was room temperature..made it taste a bit dull. Also the cake was rock solid and it felt like i was eating a laddu!. The place is very noisy....they play awful music. They should take a leaf out that new belgian cafe 'le pain's' book and sample the ambience created there.
Despite not being a huge chocolate fan I was super excited when this place opened. Dragged a chocolate lover friend here finally. It's multi level with a large number of tables, a combination of self service and wait staff. The delicious aroma wafting is enough to put in a chocolate induced haze.
Food: The waited recommended the churros but we decided to opt for the milk chocolate fondue since it would include churros and more. The fondue included churros, strawberries, bananas, brownies and marshmallows. A mistake- The best bit of the fondue was the churros and strawberry so we might as well have ordered those with the milk and dark chocolate dip. The milk chocolate was cloyingly sweet after a point and had us craving for some dark chocolate.
Drinks: Decided to go all out on chocolate so ordered the one with 60% cocoa and a chai latte. The milkshake was ok on its own but a welcome antidote to the sweet milk chocolate. I wish they would increase their non white chocolate drinks offerings. They apparently only serve bottle water or tap water. Not sure how portable tap water in Mumbai is so you have no option but to order bottled water.
Damages: Rs 600 for a fondue, milkshake and tea
I would go back but only for the churros.
I have been to this place 3 times in d last 1 month. Every time I go there I have no complaints with the food. The berry bizcocho a personal favorite is the most ultimate dessert I have had, the churros are also good and the dark corveture hot chocolate is superb.
However my grouse is with the service. Terrible, rude, pathetic service absolutely mood spoiler . I was there on a Saturday and it was jam packed. No problem with the waiting but the waiters just would not take our order. Infact two groups of 7-8 ppl left as the waiters were not taking orders not clearing the tables. Infact one of the waiters very rudely told some patrons that it will take half-hour to take the order!!! totally rubbish..luckily they took our order in 10 mins and since we didn't have a large order got served fast.
The place can be a rocker only if they increase and train the staff a bit because on rush days they they totally crumble under pressure.
Also guys you need to keep your ingredients stocked. They keep running out of custard and strawberries for the berry bizcocho. I will go again to san churros but I dont know how much longer will it last with this service!!
Bite of Paradise
It's almost two weeks since I dragged my boyfriend to San Churro demanding a Fondue, and my daydreams are still plagued by Churros and that warm chocolate dip.
My senses were tantalized the minute we entered, the sweet aroma of chocolate wafting through the tiny place which later turned out to be well not-so-tiny with a spacious upper level. The waiters were friendly and helpful while we placed our order then we headed upstairs. The upper floor well decorated with murals, had comfy chairs that we sank into and our order served shortly. One look and the Fondue took my breath away - A bowl of warm milk chocolate, churros, marshmallows, dark chocolate covered pretzels, fruits, chopped nuts and some brownie too! Ah, how we were relished each morsel!
Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Most definitely!
The decor and service being among the best I've experienced so far in Mumbai, San Churro is bound to be a regular haunt.
Not Worth the Price you Pay
I love the decor of the shop its amazing, its the best i have seen... But you need to work on you food they are not worth the price the brownie was served for 135 rs, it was not worth at all, it didn'y even tasted a good as Theobrama's brownie which is for rs 65...And the cookie shake was blend of cookies and ice cream nothing great about that too.
All of you guys this place is total rip off ...only reason i gave 2 because of the decor and service...
Mosquito infected place, you struggle while they feed on your blood. Its a nightmare!!
Waiters not trained properly! bad service, my order came after almost 20 mins!
they don't know the difference between Still water and sparkling water!
Worst of all, we were charged for items that were not consumed by us.
WARNING: please do enter this place at your own risk
Spanish Chocolate Heaven
Smell of chocolate, great decor, and comfy seats. Ahhhhh.. just remembering it makes me want to go back again.
Took my kids for a post lunch Sunday treet. From a menu full of chocolate deserts and drinks, ordered chocolate fondue with some churros. Fondue(dark, milk or white) comes with some fruits, chocolate covered pretzels, marshmallows and chocolate brownies. The chocolate was warm, fruits fresh and churros perfectly fried. Kids swore that this was their best desert so far in Mumbai.
Decor is nice - warm colors and murals on the walls with nice comfy seats. Place looks small on entering but is actually two floors. 2nd floor is huge, possibly bigger than some restaurants in Bandra.
Our timing must have been perfect. When we got there, there were only a handful of people, but was packed by the time our order came in. Expecting this to be a local favorite if they maintain their quality and service.
Eating here probably will result in diabetes if not severely clogged arteries, but man what a way to go.
Mumbai's Max Brenner?
So what we have here is an Australian chain serving Spanish hot chocolate in Mumbai. All hail globalization!
I read about San Churro opening in Bandra some time ago but was greeted by closed shutters on subsequent visits. While passing by recently, we spotted open doors, screeched to a halt and bounded in.
The folks behind the counter were pleasant and offered to help us order. There were some pretty leafy sandwiches on display alongwith some superbly sinful dessert and the wall behind listed endless hot chocolate options. We settled on an Azteca- a spiced hot chocolate with cinnamon, a hazelnut flavored hot chocolate (I forget what its called) and a blueberry frangipan crumble.
The Azteca was good, we'd have liked it thicker, and the blueberry crumble was delish - not too sweet, very creamy and the portion, generous. The hazelnut hot chocolate sadly had to be sent back. It was sweet and watery and could've easily been Bournvita masquerading as hot chocolate. The staff was kind enough to replace it with another Azteca and this time they'd got the consistency just right! Thick enough to require some serious spooning ? !
The prices weren't too bad- we spent about Rs 400 on our order - and the décor, nice and Spartan with some interesting murals.
We were too full for churros by the time we got thru our order but intend to try it the next time we visit which were sure will be soon!
Ah, the joy!
A friend tweeted about San Churro and mentioned something about cinnamon & caramel and that did it for me. I HAD TO GO :D
I was on my way to get a cupcake and then remembered the friend mentioning San Churro so decided to give it a shot. The place looks gorgeous and a merry chappie welcomed us and told us where to place the orders.
I read the menu thoroughly and ordered a Churro Medio (6 churros) with a Caramel & Dark Chocolate dip. The other options of dips were Milk Chocolate & White Chocolate.
The dips were delicious and I had told hold myself from licking the bowl clean!
The Churros were made fresh and sprinkled with *sigh* cinnamon. I felt love in my tummy.
After devouring these bits of heaven we scanned the first floor of the place which is HUGE. And was sadly empty.
Everything is a bit overpriced though and to manage such a huge space which is primarily a Chocolateria the prices should definitely be worked on.
A superb place to have a delicious dessert after dinner.
a must for chocoholics
I guess i was one of the first few to try this place out. Love the place. the decor is amazing. something different with its spanish look. Tried San Churros for the first time in Australia and so wanted to see if it was any different here. so tagged a girlfriend along for a blessed chocolate day out.
Not too expensive considering its money well spent. however i have a feeling that soon the prices are gonna be really steep. so try the churros with dark chocolate NOW.
Chocolate has come, and come big!
After a read on another blog, i kept waiting for the place to open and when it did, wow, did i get blown away or did i get blown away. The decor is fabulous and the browns, oranges and all make the place look amazing. But what is really going to take your fancy--is obviously the chocolate. We ordered a small portion of churros (fried-dough pastry-based snacks) with white chocolate dip (you can choose milk or dark too) and a Spanish Hot Chocolate. Both were delicious, the hot chocolate is one of the best we've had and you're going to want to go slow on it, let the layers unravel and enjoy the depth of its flavor. And the churros are delicious. For most of us it'll be the first time that we're enjoying this, but the cinammony donuty flavor is bonkers with that brilliant white chocolate. There's an extensive coffee-shop+chocolateria (which is what it is) menu and we're definitely going back to try the madness :)
P.S--The owners are pretty darn hospitable too and hopefully this 'experience' is consistent. I'm in love already :)
