Decent not superlative!

Indiabulls Center ventured into this part of Central Mumbai after long. Went to this cafe like restaurant called D Bell. I think its a fad to name call dinner place as a 'Cafe'. For one the food is not of a single genre and secondly its more 'posh'! Well anyway we started with a platter of stuffed mushrooms, queselidas and crostinni.

Stuffed mushroom was yum. Well stuffed with some cottage cheese and herbs. I am not a fan of queselidas but they were decent enough here.

The crostini could have been better. I washed it with some mushroom soup which was a bit of a let down.

For the main course we had the Paneer steak which was unexpectedly delicious! The soft crumbly cottage cheese on a bed of vegetables with just the correct seasoning left our mouths gaping for more!
We had some Thai green curry with basmati chawal. It was decent enough, strong color but not such a strong flavor making us suspect food coloring! The fried rice was a miss totally. Oily and lacking flavor

. Dessert revived this gaffe. The Philadelphia Cheesecake was soft but dense which is difficult to achieve. The Chocolate cake was also dense and from dark chocolate. Both were exquisite in taste. They were eggless as told to us which was the cherry on the top! Food was decent and company top notch so an evening well spent...:).

Forgot to review the nachos for the little one. Nachos Chips were ok, the cheese sauce on top was nice and thick but sparse, needed more of it. Special mention to the mango mayo which we all had like there was no tomorrow!

My new favourite lunch spot

Had the absolute ideal lunch buffet at D'Bell yesterday. The buffet was vast, and from my personal experience left nothing to be desired. We overstuffed ourselves with the starters itself, some unbelievably light crispy threaded fish, chicken lollipop grilled to perfection, and cute miniature crostinis. They were around 10 different kinds of salads. The main course comprised of both veg and non-veg items. In non-veg, they had chicken and basa, both of which were delicious. Among the 3 main courses in veg, one comprised of butter lime potatoes; the best I’ve had so far. The desserts at the end were a perfect icing on the cake. All in all, a fantastic experience, that you can afford almost everyday. Shall definitely recommend it to my colleagues!

Just about average

Went here for a sunday brunch after reading the reviews.
Staff were courteous & eager.
Decor was minimalist but pleasant.
Food was fresh (primarily chinese & continental)
However....
A lot of the food was served cold & had to be sent back to be reheated
Limited vegetarian options
Staff seemed inexperienced
The dishes were just about average in terms of taste....the best being d made 2 order live counter for eggs

This is a good value for money option if u bisit in a large group & want to enjoy the IMFL selection with unlimited salads, starters & eggs n toast.
(you can safely skip the rest)

Lovely location

D'Bell has really stunning interiors and is widely sprawling over two different sections - the restaurant and the lounge. Did not check out the lounge when I went but the restaurant was quite nice. Me and my friend ordered the Butter Lime Potatoes, Barbeque Chicken Wings and the Wild Mushroom Cabbage rolls to begin with. Some of the dishes seemed innovative - because that is what I really look at when I want to go to a new restaurant. The Chef has tried to play around with the flavours with a few dishes while some others were average. We proceeded next to have the Tuna Melt sandwich which was very bready and quite okay. Would want to come back to try more food options.

One stop shop

A massive dose of entertainment and quick but filling grub is what Lower Parel’s new cafe and lounge has to offer. Shirin Mehrotra hops in for a quick preview.

Move over old mill compounds, swanky corporate buildings are turning out to be the new food and nightlife hubs of the city. One India Bulls Centre in Lower Parel will be home to D’Bell, a new cafe and lounge, this week. The cafe section starts serving from today while the lounge will throw open its doors this Friday.

The cafe with bright interiors and casual setting is spacious and has a vibrant feel to it. The corner with book shelves and a small bar grabbed our attention the most. The free wi-fi is a good enough reason to make yourself comfortable here. The menu a mixed bag of scrumptious, quick and filling preparations, and includes pasta, sandwiches, salads, and quick bites like fish and chips.

The cafe opens at 7am and also serves breakfast, both buffet and a la carte with a different menu every day. The menu is perfect for those running between meetings looking for a quick lunch.

We went to D’Bell for a late lunch and opted for Corn cigar rolls (Rs 200), Fish and chips (Rs 320), Beef and emmental sandwich (Rs 300) and Cappuccino (Rs 80) . The cigar rolls were crispy, stuffed with boiled corns and good to munch on while we waited for the rest of our meal. The fish was coated with a crisp batter and what made the dish different was the tangy and spicy tamarind chutney served with it. The beef sandwich served with fries and salad on the side was the highlight and proved to be quite filling for a person.

The sandwich with tender slivers of beef, caramelized onion and emmental stuffed between soft focaccia bread wasn’t too heavy either. We finished the meal with a beautiful Baked New York cheesecake which the restaurant outsources.

While the cafe is more breakfast and lunch oriented, the lounge plans to serve only finger food with drinks. While the lounge is equipped with the usual sound system and a nice bar, it has a stage for live performances and an area called the Upper Deck which will be given to large corporate groups at a premium price. The lounge has lined up some of the best Indian acts and bands to
perform post its opening this Friday. It’s no wonder, we are looking forward to this new entrant in Mumbai’s recuperating nightlife.

Must try: Beef and emmental sandwich
Meal for two: Rs 1,200 + taxes (without alcohol)

Had an awesome Brunch this afternoon, at this newly opened Café and Lounge at Lower Parel. The food type is global, and there is lots of varieties to chose from. Live Counters were dishing out some really awesome Burmese Khowswey and Mongolian Stir Fry Rice and Noodles. Dessert selection is also ample. I went for the Brunch and Unlimited IMFL Liquor Package @ 1699/- , though you can even have a regular Brunch at 699/-.
They have a decent a la carte fare as well, which I will surely come back to try out. Cocktails selections can get better and need more varieties. The good news is that finally here comes an outlet which sells liquor reasonably, and they do this Daily Happy Hours thing, from 4-8pm.
Woke up with a Hangover, but feeling good that I was not made to over spend.
