Not bad at all!

This is a really tiny place with about 8-10 small tables approximately. I visited this place with my friend when I was having some serious dimsum cravings. So, its not fancy, nothing of that sort. Its inexpensive, they have a fairly good menu and the best part is , their dimsums are delicious. Purpose served!

We tried the nonvegetarian dimsum platter - ( Ha fun Gok, Chicken & Mushroom, Prawn & Chive , Chicken Kothe, Prawn Hargao) Now I dont rememeber which one was which but I enjoyed all of them! The dips were the usual nothing new, but their khimchi was really nice too. The good part is, the dimsums had a nice, soft exterior and were not at all chewy which is usually the case with most places. So THAT was a good sign. We tried the Chicken Pao too, which was minced chicken in a pao ( not your laadi pao) which I think was made from rice flour. It was alright, but i liked their plain Tingmo( Steamed bread/buns) better. It was just so soft like little fluffy clouds. We had it with the chicken in hot garlic sauce, which was like any other chinese restaurant, but I particularly enjoy the combination of bread and gravy so I quite liked my meal :)

Overall, its a nice little place to go to to get some good dimsums and tingmo. No frills nothing fancy, and a satisfying, inexpensive meal.

Great Chinese Food

Been here fairly often.

Drawbacks - Cramped seating, No Ambiance, No Alcohol

In spite of the drawbacks will keep visiting as the food is excellent. Especially like the Lamb chilly, Dumplings and Singaporean Fish. Everything on the menu is good and full of flavor and not indianised Chinese.

The portions are good and reasonably priced. It's quite a steal at today's prices.

Great Chinese

Excellent Food....

If I could write a review in just 2 words, then the above 2 describe it. Dimsim's is a small little cozy place in Versova, so small that you might just miss it.

But once you have eaten there, there is no way you will miss this place. Great authentic chinese flavors are presented with simplicity. Try anything on the menu, it will be served briliiantly.

Unlike my other reviews, I am not mentioning any of the dishes that I ate at this place, as I would not want anyone to restrict themselves to trying only what is mentioned here.

Feel free to order anything on the menu and njoy the medoly of flavours in your mouth :)

DimSum...Yummm Yummmm...!!!

Recently heard that this new restaurant won the Times best food guide award for Best chinese food... and it was totally worth it..!! This place surely has one of the best Dimsums and appetizers.. Had prawn basil Dimsums,Drums of heaven (superlike..no comparison to their perfection), garlic fried rice & mushroom schezwan noodles.. Evrything was appetising and vey very tasty.. couldn't get enough..had coconut n honey dimsums for dessert.. Our first visit was so memorable that we are now finding more excuses to dine at this place. The quantity is ample and price rates are total worth of quality and quantity they serve.. The staff is polite and helpful.. The only "problem" with this place is that its very small.. hence movement is little awkward but still food here is to die for and worth many visits & complimets... with this progress,it won't take them much time to expand and shift to a bigger place... Total thumbs up for this one...!!!! all u tastebuds, plzz try it... its truly Dimsum n yum yum yummmmm....!!! Super duper like..... :)

authentic chinese and tibetan food

if u have a reasonable budget and are looking for awesome oriental food, must must try this place .. the ambience of the place is also very nice ..incase want to take family.
chef kalden also makes dishes according to ur likes.. for a change the vegetables used are not nly ur local carrot capsicum and spring onions.. but also brocolli pakchoy and differnt types of shitake mushrooms. the best oriental restaurant in 7 bungalows .and lokhandwala as compared to similarly priced places like discovery, stomach 2, firebowl etc.. whose food is full of ajinomoto

Dim Sum heaven....

As an habit we check out all new places around and ended up for lunch at this new joint.

Ambiance:
nicely done - knowing the place from before they have done a great job! We found the 'show kitchen' quite an interesting concept - it gives a comforting hygienic appeal.

Food:
We tried non-veg (chicken & fish) and veg Dim Sums - all very just AMAZING!
Lovely...so tasty, cooked to perfection and pleasing with their different colourings.

Service:
Good

Overall:
We will definitely land up here very often in the future and will try out the rest of the menu. Its very promising and we are very happy to have such good quality food joint around the corner.

A Burrp of Delight!

Had read about this place in Mid-day. I was very surprised by the review given. The Guide usually gives very poor reviews to most of the restaurants that it reviews. This one got very good feedback, and being the foodie that I am, I was urged to check it out! In the lanes of Versova, where your taste buds will meet every desire, in one small compartment, you will find Dimsums...and as they aptly say-some more!
I stuck to the items recommended by mid-day and went in for the Prawns butter garlic, chicken dumplings, chicken hot garlic and chicken fried rice.
The taste of prawns butter garlic was so ambrosious that I can't describe it in words. With the first bite, the light crisp of the prawn explodes in your mouth a medley of flavors that you will crave more with every bite. The flesh is so soft, juicy and buttery that it melts your heart! The dumplings are the best momos I've ever had. The chicken in the rice wraps was the most flavorsome ever (rather than the regular lot which just taste like bland boiled chicken). The chicken filling was high on taste, the wrap was delicious, and it was the only thing that tastes so good inspite of being steamed...The main course that followed exceeded our expectations too, both in quality and quantity! The chicken friend rice was something that you could very well eat without a gravy too. The gravy came with huge chunks of chicken, soft and extremely well balanced in taste...
Some chicken dumplings, some prawn butter garlic, lot of fried rice, a burrp of digestive euphoria...makes a happy meal & makes a happy me!

overhyped!

Looking at the glowing reviews here we decided to give the place a visit. The dimsums were strictly OK and everything after that disappointed.
From tasteless chicken fried rice to a cornflour gravy that thickens within mins of being on the table. It was so bad we didnt bother parceling the leftovers.
for One time visit place only

Food still good but slow service

Got my whole family 9pax to brag about the good food here. But then my sis hit me with fact that small but good eating joint are not equipped for speed or bulk.
My yummy starters were spread across 1.2hr and same with the main course about 45min.
Just some advice to the owner doesn't make economic sense if you are going to keep 2 tables occupied on weekend for 2.5hrs at peak time.
But still the food is great......better luck with the speed of service.
That takes away one star for fending off jibes from my hungry as wolves family members.

awesome dimsums :)

For all you dimsum lovers this is the place to be!! Well three of us were there for a dimsums only, lunch fest and boy we were not disappointed at all. I'm so excited about the food i ate that i cant wait to go back :P
All the dishes from the water-chestnut corn dumplings, mix veg kothe and pakchoy in veg to the prawn sumai, lamb kothe, chicken with mushroom and Tibetan dumpling soup in non-veg was are mouth watering, bursting in flavors and yes for desserts the coconut & honey dimsum is a great way to finish your meals off, pre-order them as they run out of them pretty fast :)

I'm going back to try the other dishes .. i highly recommend !!

Cheap place, bad food and bad service

Even if you are looking for cheap food, this should not be your target.

1. Fried rice was uncooked, sent it back, it was still not fixed.
2. Hong kong chicken, as per the menu, was to contain red and yellow peppers. There was not a single piece of red or yellow pepper in it. Waiter did not even respond to the complaint.
3. Portions are small, and the place sucks.
4. Parking problem.

There are much better places, even at these rates.

SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD

I visited this place just by chance as I found the logo quite attractive but expected an average Chinese Dhaba kind of food as available in few other restaurants close by...... BUT BUT i was quite shocked to see a very well done decor and a show kitchen which gave a comfort about the hygine and cleanliness which I m sure most biggies can't afford to dare...

We tried Dimsums and ......................... speechless !!!! cant ask for anything more....they were at par with any 5* hotel and better then many 5* :-)

big relief to find out that a 5* chef has started the place and it reflects so well with everything we ate and saw. Finally a place which does not use M.S.G., no colors...

My suggestions try everything you can as its all worth it and frankly you will not get such variations and quality food at this price.

We are quite regular now to that place...so see you all sometime....

Gimme more

The word Dimsum means “to touch the heart” and they certainly touch mine. There is something delicate and yet very wholesome about a dumpling. The outer pastry needs to be crafted with much finesse. Knowing that someone’s skillfully nimble fingers crafted my food, makes eating that much more pleasurable. A pleasure that can never be found in canned beans or a packet of chips. My stomach seems to smile every time I eat dumplings.

Now coming to the restaurant: with a name that announced it’s intentions of touching my heart I was compelled to visit. Spoiled for choice I ordered Lamb momos and chicken pao to begin, and my love affair with this place began ever since. Besides just dimsum, the place does offer a fair selection of main course gravy dishes and rice/noodles. But what you must try are they plain steamed or garlic buns which can be eaten with any of the Chinese gravy dishes. I haven’t seen or tasted this sort of a bread anywhere else. I did not know the Chinese eat bread and gravy, but authenticity is hardly an issue when something tastes so good.

Since we’re on the subject of hearts being touched, nothing does it like a sweet ending: close your eyes and imagine this steamed dumplings stuffed with honey and coconut. They don’t just touch my heart, they grope and fondle it, taking me to a place where the clouds are shaped like dumplings and it rains honey.

Non Pretentious sumptuous Asian food

I would like to give a standing ovation to the People running the restaurant for providing a different take on Asian food and at prices which would not burn a hole in your already light pockets.
Guys experiment with your food and understand what to expect at what price points you are eating at.
Not that Mainland china with its big company investments gets it right on all of their dishes.Go with a large party and order all of their chicken starters(Some are actually sugar coated instead of honey ) and it would be tough to distinguish between the sauces and you would be handed a bill which would be monthly eating expense of a middle class family.
Good food and keep it up.
The Chilli garlic chicken fried rice ,the hot garlic chicken main course , stir fried noodles all fresh and uniquely flavored.
Will surely visit the place and post a few more reviews on the same

Only dimsums are good..

Me and my family were missing our weekly dosage of MSG (Aji-no-moto) so the decision was made - Chinese food.

There were 2 options China 1 or Dimsum&more..We opted for the latter after reading their review in Mid-day..When we entered , we were impressed by their show kitchen and by the no. of senior looking chefs working very hard inside a fairly clean looking kitchen..not very clean though.. In the restaurant there was only 1 waiter..yes only one..who was running around from taking the orders to serving everyone...The service was so slow and could hear the earlier patrons grumbling about the late service.

We ordered Chicken Satay, Prawns in burnt chilly garlic sauce and Chicken Dimsums for starters and Red Thai Curry with Rice and Hakka Noodles (which is a test for every Chinese restaurant)..Excepting the dimsums the food was strictly average ..The Thai curry had nothing Thai in it..Also the dimsums took forever to come considering so many chefs were inside the kitchen, its their signature dish and the restaurant was pretty empty..

Totally avoidable !

Excellent food

The food is consistently good, the best part is that the food is fresh and doesn't have the overpowering taste of MSG. The meat isn't over cooked and the food even when delivered home tastes just as good. It's our place of choice for dinner on Sunday with the family be it ordering in from them or going there. Chef Kalden always greets us with her trademark smile and spectacular food. If you like good Chinese food, don't even think twice, just try it out. I recommend the wild pepper fish.

Super

Brilliant lunch at this hard-to-find place. We ordered Steamed chicken dumplings and Chicken spring roll. The care taken in making the dumplings was very evident. The spring roll was very crunchy, both inside and outside. What really surprised us was the freshness of the ingredients used. Also tried Fried chicken dumplings (will stay with the steamed one next time) and the Pan fried chicken noodles (ok ok; and the chicken was too salty). Finished with Apple pancake with ice cream (again good stuff). Total bill 940/- !!!!! Chef Kalden has a real winner on her hands here and I will be back.

Pleasing to the palate and the pocket

Visit the restaurant if you would like to have a hearty family dinner or just a quite one with your partner... We loved the fact that they serve Chinese cuisine and not indo Chinese food that most other places in this price range do.. We absolutely loved the prawn sumai for starter and the chocolate pao for dessert.. a good range of various dimsums and main course... loved the fact that they would also personalize the taste to suit your requirements! Thumbs up for the NO MSG!

Great place for Dimsums!

Small restaurant with 8-10 tables in Versova, Andheri West. Service was very good and ambience was nice as well. The dimsums are fantastic! All the dimsums we tried were great however, the lamb dimsum (Lamb Kothe) was the best! It was very juicy and full of flavour! The chicken pao (chicken in a round bun) was also very good. For desert, you must try the coconut and honey dimsum. It is really good! It's a great restaurant especially for dimsum lovers!

Excellent Dimsums and Thai food

I have ordered few times home delivery from this place and every time food is awesome. We have tried all veg dim sums except potato & cheese dumpling and pakchoy with golden garlic dim sums, all are excellent in taste. They offer very good Tom Yum Soup. We normally order Veg Thai Green curry and steam rice as main course, it's excellent in taste.

Well kept secret!

Dimsum and more is tiny, dimly lit place on yari road, so please keep your eyes wide open to or else you will miss it. remember it is next to the brightly lit Lemon salon :)
The place is small, minimal decor but soothing and calm.
The food here is fabulous and its even better that they do not use MSG and food colouring in their food.
Dishes that are a must have here are : the veg pan fried dimsums, the steamed garlic bread - perfect to dunk in chinese gravy!!, chili garlic noodles, lemon coriander soup, chicken hot and sour soup, fish in garlic onion sauce and chicken wings in shezwan sauce as a starter.
The food is simple with no fuss but packed with flavor! Its a must try for affordable chinese with no ridiculous amount of cornflour!!
