UNBELIEVABLE PRICING !!!!!!!!! SHOCKING
Went here after long thinking I will get to eat some authentic Goan food met the waiter who had no clue what Goan sausages were I was shocked then asked the manager who said yes we have but fried not the usual authentic way anyways waited for half an hour for the dish and got a bill of 500 I mean 500 for Goan sausages alone this is ridiculous this restaraunt should shut down I am amazed at the pricing no one even told me it will cost this much will never ever go there again and will never recommend it too.
Misleading Pics on Burrp, Good Food !
I saw the pictures uploaded on burrp and decided to go to goa portuguesa to experience goan food. but to my surprise the pictures are mixed with their branch in mahim. the restaurant in andheri is a small place. the decor is just average, music and service was really nice. now coming onto the food. we are pure vegetarians but surprisingly it offers lot of varieties in veg food. Solkadi, paneer bali bali, appam and sukke were made very nice. it had that goanese taste that we were looking for. If you dont expect too much you will really enjoy the restaurant.
Had been there for a quaint Sunday lunch . Bombil fry in the starters was very good .. Fresh and crispy as it should be .
The surmai gravy was also very good .
The food also scores in the vegetarian section . Had ordered for a potato and a paneer starter and both of them were up to the mark
Absolutely delicious treat!!
I visited this place in Sep 2012 for my birthday treat and it was indeed one of the most delicious meals I have had recently.
Starters: Any chicken dish, Prawns sukkha, Kothimbir Wadi,
Main Course: Appam with chicken stew
Beverage: sol kadi
Dessert: Wattlappam (to die for!!)
Good Food But not Better
It was a friends birthday & we decided to check out the famous "fish place". From an outside look of it, the place looked really very interesting. The durban was kind enough to escort us to waiting area and a manager asked us the regular bunch of questions noting the our quantum etc. I was really impressed by the management as they had all of it planned. Most of the places, you would just walk into the dinning area, stare at people eating and try to find a vacant place or for a manager. Though being mid-week, they still followed the routine & that is really appreciated for.
We got a table fast and had a quick look at the buffet menu. The place is not-so-big, so standing in one corner you can see everything. Both the veggie & non-veggie preparations were looking attractive so we started off with the soup. It wasn't amazing but since we were here for Fish we discounted the taste of the soup. The waiters are very attentive and start serving starters immediately after you are done with the soup. We had tawa fried ravas, well cooked and tasty & believe me I alone must have finished off one full serving plate the waiter got for our table. The chicken preparation was good too. The food is served hot & we we dont need to get out of our chair till your first half of the meal.
Yes, one thing i forgot, they had this nice red coloured kokam kind drink served on the table & I recommend that you avoid water when you have such pretty options.
Then we moved on to the main course, we had options of appam or amboli with the sabzi. Live counter was setup in corner for these. I was excited about eating prawns curry & amboli, but prawns disappointed us the most. The chicken was good too, but we had more expectations from the fish-curry being a "fish place".
It seemed like Goa Portuguesa was buckling under pressure now. After the food we asked for the bill. On its menu cards, there was an advertisement of 15% on citicards. So we gladly paid through it only to find that we were not offered the same, because of some unwritten rule, that the discount is only on a la carte. They have not mentioned any ' * ' anywhere to even make people guess the conditions applicable. The reason we were given was that the new material is out for printing!!! Which is like a 3-rd standard reason for not doing your homework. After a nice evening & good food, we were in no mood to fight, and we let the manager off with a warning of complaint to citibank.
So the food is good, place is alright & staff decent too. May be for us the time wasn't nice.
Btw they say the other Goa Potuguesa @ mahim has live music too !!!
One of my Fav Restaurant!!!
We used to always go to Goa Portuguesa, Mahim. As we stay in Andheri, we were quite excited to know that now they have an outlet in Andheri too but were quite apprehensive about the quality served there. As per our experiences, I feel that the original place always serves better than their new branch, but our doubts were proved absolutely wrong when we visited their Andheri Branch.. The food quality & taste is exactly the same, what they serve at Mahim...It is highly commendable on their part!!!!
Definitely Great food !
Been there, and must say food was so tempting, just could not wait to finish it...The portions were good as well, enjoyed chicken and coastal food as well, serving time was appropriate, and the interiors were great as well, It was the latest experience we had, and not to forget that will be visiting there soon... :)
How can we stay away form such delicious food and nice aroma... :)
Awful experience - avoid like the plague !
Went to the place tonight with the family. To start with service was painfully slow and the waiters were inattentive. Had to draw attention few times till someone decided to amble over. Ordered the prawn puffs, a konkani rawas rassa, prawn khichdi and ambolis besides the drinks. The food and drinks took forever to come - in fact, the starters were served before the drinks. After a couple of reminders, the staff decided to wake up and serve dinner. Finally, we thought that we will have a good time. But midway through the meal, we discovered that the ambolis were interlaced with human hair. The sight was repulsive and we had to leave our meal halfway. Complaints drew little response, except for a few perfunctory "sorry". However, one brilliant waiter did ask if we wanted to "parcel" the leftovers and take it away ! We asked for finger bowls so that we could leave the place as quickly as possible - two of us were served while the other two were not. Another ten minutes later, when we reminded one of the waiters, we were told curtly "How do I know who has been served and who has not been ?" Finally the bill came and we were given a feedback form - was that designed to rub some more salt into our wounds ? I finally lost my cool, paid the bill and left with the promise of never coming back again.
Best place to have coastal food...
Chettinad, Konkani, Tamil food, Goan, Potugese food... if you like any of the above just straightaway head towards Goa Portuguesa/Diva Maharashtracha...
I tried Malvani Sukha chicken and Prawns Chettinad..the Prawns portions @Rs.380 was the most i ever had anywhere...chicken was at its best..next time i will try Fish , crabs ...
Interiors are good, staff is humble, good portions, and mothers touch in the food...
And most important , theres no service tax, and all rates are inclusive of govt tax..so you know what you are paying end of the dyay..
Same as the Mahim one
Went to this place last night with family. Had a great experience. In starters we had corn & spinach tartlets and some paneer/mushroom starters. Both the starters were good.
In the main course we had one dal(I think some sort of moong dal) and one other dish. I forget the name of that dish Followed by Masala bhaat..
They don't server any alcoholic drinks. So i had one mocktail named as Black passion(some sort of grape juice only). All the dishes we had were good. Overall damaged to the wallet was Rs.1700/-.
