A place you won't forget!

I met my best friend of decades, we studied together in school, after some 8 years...he was coming to India from Canada. On a very short notice we decided to give him a little surprise dinner. We chose Grillopolis as it looked the straight up best option in the Phoenix Market City Mall.

Since the plan was extremely abrupt, I could not plan too much for him. So my wife took a chance and asked the hostess if she could manage something for us. Ayesha, this little girl seemed to be extremely helpful and sporty. In 15 minutes, we had a customised cake for my friend. They specially arranged for flowers and decorated the table centre. Certain floating scented candles in vases and voila! We had a beautifully decorated table waiting for the birthday boy!

This set a good mood for the evening. They timed a birthday song for my friend and it the staff sang along. Coming to the food, we chose the buffet, as it seemed economical. The food was all tasty and delicious. I won't consider myself much of a food expert to comment on the nitty gritty; but as a lay man I could tell the food was freshly prepared in the live kitchen, upon our arrival and the kids also had a great engagement watching the chefs work.

All in all, its a place me and my friend wouldn't forget, and an experience we will always cherish. Thank You Grillopolis, you have some wonderfully trained staff!

BBQ LAMB CHOPS WORTH KILLING FOR

I am a lamb eater as I relish red meat more. So while I try different lamb kebabs, starters and dishes all over the place, I bumped into Grillopolis the other day and when I asked for recommendation for the staff, Samuel, my server sweared by the Bbq Lamb Chops they served.

I can tell you, I wasn't disappointed. They were tenderly cooked, the flesh left the bones a little lightly and the flesh had absorbed taste. The bbq sauce and caramelised onion rings really added to the amazing dish. Since then, I have been there swinging in and out of Grillopolis, as I visit Phoenix Market City, for some good old chops. Its a must try, I'd say!

Horrible Buffet Spread

Bunch of unprofessional people managing the place, Name is Grillopolis but most of the things were deep fried or shallow fried. Service was pathetic as the staff did not know whether they were serving Fish or Chicken. They call it unlimited buffet but behave like misers in serving starters, one has to ask again n again to get a repeat order. After the disastrous starters, all our hope was ruined when we tasted the main course which was a confused spread of bland n over salted food n the worst was burnt Dal Tadka. Finally we thought that there can’t be any goof-up with desserts but worst was yet to come. Cake cream was stale & we felt like we were eating cake available at the railway station. In the entire experience felt like they have employed trainee chef's who are experimenting their food trails on people. Would never ever get back to this place as there is not scope of improvement since they didn’t even take customer feedback/opinion about food n service.

Romantic and Good

I liked this place very much. Mainly for its ambiance. Food is good as well.
It had many starters and main course though did not have much variety was good to taste. Desert section is poor and can be better. Good collection of drinks and over all an enjoyable place.

Love their screen and the collection of songs. you can also have dedications which i loved and did it on my Husband's Birthday.

Worst experience ever

This must be my worst dining experience! Imagine this - you are just about to get over the disappointment of having an average quality of starters and you notice a cockroach roaming around on the table. You immediately call the guy taking your order and guess what he does! He squashes the cockroach with a water jug right on table, right in front of you. It's battered body lay on the table. Seeing the disgust on our faces he realises his goof-up and offers us another table to sit.
Since we had no time left to try out another eating place, we reluctantly decided to continue. We were first shifted to another table but the manager noticed torn sofa cover and shifted us to yet another table.
We had opted for buffet dinner and the menu included holi special welcome drink 'thandai' and even after the starters were served, there was no sign of serving thandai. We had to remind the guy taking our order twice, after which he served only one glass of thandai.. Clearly they never had tasted thandai before. Sweetened milk diluted generously with cold water was their idea of thandai recipe. The starters were no less disappointing. The bread was cold and hardly soft. Chicken wings were very small and burnt with very little portion of flesh.
Further for the main course, when we went to the serving area, we again noticed another cockroach. Avoiding those dishes, we selected few others.. The overall food quality was very very average.
Fruit flies were also quite regular in the serving area.
We had no wish left to repeat our food items and moved on to desserts. There was hardly anything good to talk about desserts. Just when I was about to pick a strawberry tart, a fruit fly landed on it. That was it, we decided to leave the place and asked for the bill. Each plate was charged at Rs 880 and all they did to compensate for the lousy service was that they waived off the VAT.
That was a total weekend spoiler!!

Decent food, if you like the slightly jarring ambi

When the restaurant started, the food was way below the mark. But consistently, the quality and taste of the food has improved. The lunch buffet is very good, though a bit expensive. The ambience is a bit gaudy and jarring to the eye, but one could get used to it. The Indian food is good and starters are very nice. Also, they have interesting soup varieties in the buffet. The desserts need massive improvement.

Haven for carnivores, Hell for herbivores

Upfront, I liked the ambiance of this place more than the Lokhandwala one. With the grand entrance, artsy decor, long tables and ample space inside to walk around, I wouldn't give a single negative point for that.
We were waited by this very friendly staff guy who absolutely knew his stuff well. He offered to give us a first-hand perusal of the menu, especially because most of my company hadn't been to either of the outlets before. And mostly because a majority of them were vegetarian. Now I always knew that a place like this wouldn't be too friendly for a veggie but my god that was the day I realized by how much! There were complete sections of the menu that had to be discarded because they had 0 options for vegetarians. I don't normally have any issue with it but I was quite frankly appalled as to how limited Grillopolis had to offer for the vegetarian folk. Anyway, we ended up ordering a few Veggie sizzlers and some pasta. I decided to go veggie that day and have a couple of pointers with regards to the food: I found the sauce on one of the sizzlers to be slightly runnier than what it should be. The pasta sauce was good but the pasta itself was a little dense and chewy. I have been to the Lokhandwala Grillopolis before and I absolutely loved the non-vegetarian fare so I know for a fact that the food is, in general, delicious. But if a restaurant this popular won't do anything to upgrade its vegetarian options, then it certainly won't find popularity among a large section of people.
Anyway, the prices out here are slightly on the steeper side but as always, my burrp card came in handy to save some extra bucks!

Good food, with a service that can kill

Great food, but it comes at a price. And the price is paid in terms of the hours of wait that you have to bear to get to the food (unless you go for the buffet)
The food is highly recommended. Though the buffet may sound like a great value for money (and time) but the menu is also as limited. Hence, the a la carte is what I would recommend

Waiter! There's a cockroach in my food!

I would've liked to have reviewed the restaurant, but finding a live cockroach on my table and near the buffet makes it all rather meaningless.
And all the restaurant could offer as an explanation was "Sorry the manager isn't here now" and "This must be from the 'construction' next door" and "Here, have another (cockroach-infested) dessert for free."
Really???
Edited to add : Just read another review here with the exact same complaint from a few months ago! And an "apology" from their management. Clearly this wasn't a one-off, and they don't care about it. Manipulated ratings, anyone?

The best place to have Expired Food

Around 35 of us (Office Outing) had been to this place on a Friday (02-Aug) evening and they had offered us 1 Free drink with Food. The beer served was expired (Dec -2012) Stock. When we escalated the manager was quiet cool about it, he tasted the beer and gave a very cold response saying.. though expired still tastes good.

When we insisted on getting all the bottles replaced they served us with more expired beer..again 2012 batch.

No Apologies.. No Courtesy...

Considering the Mfg date to so evident and present on the bottles being served and they being negligent makes me wonder how fresh the vegetable and other stuffs are.

Awesome place to hang out...

I dined at Grillopolis last night, being a sunday night. I had a great experience. Their staff is very hospitable and courteous. I had gone with my office colleagues after a long day at work. We specially enjoyed the Draught Beer Pitchers on full day buy one get one. We had quite some actually. It paired really well with the Grilled food and special mention to the music collection with videos- live concerts of Billy Joel, Clapton, Lionel Richie. Great place to have an unwind session.

A big no to this place.

I went there with a lot of expectations and excitement. We have chosen buffet over a la carte. Starters were dull especially lamb something (they would tell you big names with a lot of adjectives that you don't remember) tasted like chewy air. Potato skins stuffed with chana??! Lentil fries also called as mungdal wade served as starters! Adding to woes we ordered beer which exhausted after 2 pitchers. I don't understand how can any restaurant risks running out of beer. Aftersome time they switched of the AC and when we asked them they were absolutely clueless about whats happening around about what to do now. And then by the time we went to take buffet it was all over! Deserts were tasteless. They had this zuchini halwa! Still I tried and it was again horrendous. Oh I missed this, one of our friend found insect in the rice but the staff was kind enough to apologize. And thats how we wasted our saturday night and money . I am not going there again.

Best Buffet Offering

To start with, I am a buffet person- you always have a huge choice and you always know what to pay! Having said that, I have tried a huge number of buffets across Mumbai including barbaeque Nation, Global Fusion, Global Grill, even Mainland China and I would say Grillopolis is my personal favorite!

The reason is, the menu is always something you haven't eaten before. At least 70% dishes on the buffet are things new to you. Not that typical spread of old Indian kebabs, or continental stuff or oriental. Its an altogether different experience to be able to eat things that originality belong to a different part of the world. And I find it authentic.

Last visit specials- Fennel Basa, Roasted Chops, Cabbage and Rice Dolmas, Asparagus Risotto, Meringues for dessert, and even baklava. Love love love their baklava!

Not to forget the music collection they have! I love this place.

Buffet:Great Starters But Below Average Main Course

The starters served in the buffet dinner was praise-worthy - the stuffed potatoes, grilled Basa, chicken tandoors, lamb kebabs. All these coupled with good video music and soothing decor and lightings.
The arrangement inside the place was very coordinated and gave a personal touch. However, the entire experience could not be squared off due to pathetic main course - which was mostly Italian based and having low options in Indian dishes. The foods were served cold as well.
Considering that I visited on 10th July,2012, I hope things have improved and looking forward to visiting it again in near future.

Another excellent experience

Hi,

I was at Grillopolis, last night again and it was another excellent experience. The staff is courteous as ever, here I would like to make a special mention of Dimple. She is simply fabulous and needs to be rewarded and appreciate for the excellent rapport that she builds with customers. In fact, she has such a good rapport with my wife, that my wife just calls her to make reservations. Also each time and we are in the mall and not visiting Grillopolis, she makes sure to greet us and invite us in .

Fusion Trio, is another awesome group that performs there, Lorriane, Justin & Jeffery are upcoming artist and they make a good attempt to entertain the patrons there. Please pass my best wishes and appreciation on to them. I wish I could get there personal details, so I could thank them personally.

Something that was missing this time again, was the Baklava :( I hope to sample some of that when I come back there again..

Thanks for making me an honorary citizen of Grillopolis.

Excellent as always

Grillopolis is a place where food is celebrated. This is a place you would try every time you think of it. With starters freshly grilled and served on the table, perfectly balanced taste...It does not focus on a particular cuisine. They serve Indian & Continental with a lot of variation. The more i visited Grillopolis, the more i got to experiment with different tastes. You will be pampered by the staff....Each time I visit I want to experience more

Fails to Deliver

Grillopolis has tried to create a Unique experience by providing its menu on Ipad. One can also select and place requests for songs through the Ipad and they have quite a good collection of English music.

The interiors are warm and seating is comfortable. The staff is quite polite and hospitable. The spread of the menu is pretty narrow and does not offer many options and is more inclined towards the Continental Cuisine.

The food is the weakness here. I ordered Milano Tandoori Chicken. The serving had 2 pieces , one leg and one breast piece with Grilled Potatoes ( which were horrible and under cooked) and vegetables. The Chicken lacked the texture and was very dry. They served the sauce with the same which was very much like Ketch- Up.

If Grillopolis has to make it big, it will have to improve on the food, A Lot! The food was lacking on some of the very basic things. I hope the management will read this review and act on it.

waste .. pathetic ....

It was pathetic, awful, waste of whatever money i spent on buffet dinner..spent around 1400 for a couple buffet and total waste.. it wasnt worth 500 rs dinner you can have in normal resturant..

Service, ambience etc are good.

It was my wife's birthday and i had asked them to arranage a cake, they arranged a cake with egg so I didn't bother to get that on my table.

Starters: corn with tomato suas, normal panner starter, then some grilled mushroom, potato slice with some stuffing and then beet root ball..
I would say panner and beet root thing was something i could eat, rest i didn't ask once more thing.

Talking about main course : they offered very less stuff on salad which is just three salad.. wasteee...

maincourse had some variety but with variety there was no taste in the food.

Desert has around 6 option. By the time i reached desert course my mood was almost spoiled.

So just tried for the sake of trying and paid the bill quickly as I was not ready to wait there for few more minute..

Then went to some chat thela and enjoyed the stuff there ..

100 rs food can get taste but 1400 can not guraentee that ...

highly disappointed with food ....
will not suggest any vegetarian ...

I am really sorry for that. However, we tried our best to accomodate your needs. As far as the food is concerned, we'll try our best to improve according to you. Thanks.

Wonderful experience

Just came back from a wonderful sunday lunch. The buffet spread was fantastic. Both veg and non veg main courses were delicious. Add to that the grilled starters served on the table and the lovely seasonal soups. The spicy mango soup, grilled corn, stuffed potato, beetroot kebab, fish tawa kebab and chicken reshmi kebabs were lovely. So were the methi aloo, stuffed vegetables, butter chicken, basa in honey sauce and dal. The baklava was also excellent. Cappuccino is avoidable.

“Walk in without any hesitation and with my experience I would say Grillopolis won’t disappoint you!!”
Today I was in Grillopolis for special lunch since it was my friend’s birthday.. When I booked the table over the phone and mentioned that would be there for a birthday lunch and want a small cake as well to celebrate, they said you are welcome and a cake will be complimentary from us.
When I walked in there were hardly any people being Tuesday. Reading all prior reviews I had decided to go for buffet and to our luck a Kabab festival is going on, which made this visit unforgettable along with birthday celebration. To my surprise there were 6 veg & 6 non-veg starters (which are never there in other restaurants who offer buffet @ more cost than Grillopolis). To be honest 10 starters were just awesome and rest two were good at taste, this single serve of all starters made us almost full..
The main course spread was also wide and at its best, we tasted almost all spread along with Indian bread and Mutton Biryani which was really good in taste but only thing which I did not liked is the mutton from Biryani which was frozen and chewy (which I personally don’t like)
Last was desert which was good, which I liked in desert is the caramel custard, a Vodka based jelly and the fresh fruit cake which was served to celebrate the birthday.

To mention about ambience and staff then the restaurant is nicely put up and staff is very polite and quick in service.

(To mention here I belong from coastal side and being foodie I know what is fresh fish and meat & what is stale and to my another surprise all fish and meat were fresh in taste which is again you may find in another similar restaurants)

Great value for money

I was at Grillopolis last Thursday for a corporate lunch. The back bone of this rest. is value for money. A great variety of starters all of which were cooked to perfection followed by an equally good buffet spread. We weren't aware of the 10% discount for corporates which was given to us even though we didn't ask for it. The staff is indeed very polite and courteous. The good music played also deserves a mention. Great stuff. Keep up the good work.

Value for Money ??? i don't think so :)

My wife and I had visited for Lunch on Sunday, 20th Jan. Having heard glowing praise from a friend, we decided to try.
It took a while finding it in Phoenix market city, the directions and the layout of the mall take some time getting used to…..nonetheless we made it and the ambiance and interiors of the place were very tasteful.

The lady at the reception counter greeted us by name(she made it a point to memorie the reservations) even while leaving, she thanked us by name…a sweet touch !!

We got down to the buffet immediately, all the people who attended to us were very warm, courteous and all had a genuine smile all the time.

5 veg and 5 non-veg starters, we really enjoyed the prawns, the chicken kebabs and the drumsticks. The lamb boti kebabs were lovely !! the grilled basa was the only letdown, being just a bit dry(overdone)

The starters just kept coming and we had to request them to slow down as we couldn't keep up. The service was really nice with someone or the other always checking on us.

Our 3 year old daughter was with us and impatient as kids are…..a special mention of the lady at the counter who kept coming in to play with her and gave her pencils and paper to doodle and keep her busy….

The main course was an ample spread (Indian and continental), but we really couldn't eat much as we were pretty much stuffed by then. We sampled a little bit and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Entertainment….couldn't really notice much as we didn't take our minds off the food, but some nice retro rock music was playing.

I really won’t say “Value for money”, because it’s a downright steal !!

Lovely experience…….looking forward to our next trip, hope to enjoy the same standards again.
Also a suggestion, as your menu changes every weeks, perhaps you could put it up on your website or e-mail your customers….it would be nice.

Awesome ambiance & delicious food

When me & my friends entered into Grillopolis, we experienced a western feeling. Had heard a lot about it & decided to give a try. The ambiance is so mesmerizing, you feel u r in some Moroccan restaurant. We opted for Buffet as it looked very promising & vast. The staff here is so warm & welcoming, makes u feel very homely...As it was my friend's birthday, i requested a cake, they managed right then. The server gave the Jukebox n asked us to play songs of our choice. The starters were so delicious especially the chicken wings & grilled prawns, that we asked for more. My friend, who is a veggie, loved tandoori tikka masala...We went to have the main course but was very full with the starters....according to me, here i had the best dal makhni ever. The Desserts were okay as i was looking for Ice cream. overall very good experience...good food, music, ambiance..will surely go back

"Very tasty, good service and rather classy"

I have wanted to eat at a Grillopolis for a long time so we booked here for lunch and four of us had a really delicious meal. The starters were delightful and the basa fish was done perfectly. The paella and rissotto in the main course were brilliant and all in all - a very pleasant time was had. One of the things that was nice is that the tables and chairs are targeted at comfort. Good to visit the kitchen and see the work going on - very calm and under control despite a very busy service. Would go again. They also have a very good music collection with a digital jukebox on your table!

Horrible buffet on christmas nigt!

After an exhausting shopping outing with my friends, I spotted Grillopolis at Phoenix and thought a buffet would be a great idea..they promised a good spread on Christmas evening with a glass of champagne..it started with a bowl of chicken soup that was actually nice but after that the meal just went downhill...5 veg and non-veg starters each and mind you not a single one remarkable enough that you feel like asking fr a second serve..one of the rarest buffet places where there was not a single potato-based starter..They are extremely stingy with quantity..served only one piece at a time..hilarious was the counter serving fish and turkey..fish was stinking (and I would like to think a bong cant go bad with fish's smell)..and they were serving tiny, dry and cold pieces of turkey..main course was totally forgettable and so were the desserts (Mango pudding and Tiramisu being an exception..they were actually nice)..two of my friends were on their way to join us for the dinner..i called them up and told them not to come there after having the first round of starters.. BBQ nation, mainland china and even some local buffets in Andheri and Bandra will win hands down..after spending Rs 3000 this place was a total disappointment, never going to this place again!!

Tasteless and bland food. Charging less than your Andheri outlet does not mean Andheri is so good and Kurla has to be bad. If the Pheonix mall does not give you good foot falls, it does not mean that the quality has to be ok and the chefs employed are less qualified.

Dear Devilalm
Neither do we charge less than the Andheri outlet nor is anything different at Kurla. Though you are entitled to your comments, I dare say I have to take them with a huge pinch of salt.
Just out of curiosity, when did you visit us at Phoenix? At Kurla, we have had less than 5% unsatisfactory feedbacks, which makes me wonder....

Simply Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually hate Barbeque Nation, so was reluctant when my daughter suggested Grillopolis. As soon as I entered the place,I knew things were different. V had a-la-carte. The food is very very good. Lamb chops, Basa fish, Paneer Mediterranean style were outstanding. Now I've got to go and try the Buffet.

Great place

Was there yesterday night and tried out the buffet. The starters are wonderful and served to the table hot and fresh. the prawns, chicken, lamb, paneer were really nice and after the starters one really has to struggle to eat the buffet. The variety is very nice and both me and my wife being non veg were plesantly surprised that the non veg dishes equaled the veg dishes which normally is not the case.
The service is very good and the best part was the music and the old classic songs on the screen. Brought back a lot of fond memories.
A great experience. Will be there again

Awesome Place..!!!

The food and the ambiance of this place are really awesome! I simply loved the crisp fillet fish and it was accompanied by the red wine suggested by the chef. I had an amazing time there last week and I am looking forward to visiting this place once again very soon!

Wonderful experience!

It was my husband's birthday and by now we had visited most restaurants around for a family outing. burrp! always has Grillopolis flashing around on the screen and so I said 'let's give it a try!' and so we did. We all assembled for an afternoon meal and checked out the buffet laid out. It was a great mix that put together. The starters were the best. My daughter who isn't too much of a fish person, was all over the fish. She still goes, 'the fish at grillopolis, let's go back for more!' We were so full with the starters, but we had to do justice to the main course and the dessert. Overall a great a place and yummy food.

However, I wish the approach road is taken care of soon.

Good food

We went without reservations on a sunday afternoon and were lucky because this one is situated in a newly opened (humongous) mall which people haven't warmed up to yet.

The ambiance of the restaurant is rather cozy and they were playing some good music videos on their huge screen. We got straight to our main courses opting to skip the appetizers. While I was trying to explain our order (non-dairy), the waiter pleasantly shocked me by asking me if I wanted my meals 'vegan'. No one has ever asked me that in a restaurant here. He even went and explained it to the chefs and got me my personalized Tagine.

The Tagine was great and the vegetarian rice dish we ordered was nice too.

It's always comforting when people making your food understand your needs and I gladly ate it without any doubts.

Though we try to educate our service staff on various guest preferences, it would be presumptuous of me to say all our servers are vegan aware. Luckily for both of us the gentleman who served you was clued in. We have since rewarded his understanding, giving the rest of the service team a reason to keep themselves updated. Been to Grillopolis purely due to the fantastic decor. Brilliant ambiance, service & food. Reached here at around 6.30 pm...warmly welcomed though a briefing meeting was going-on. Ordered a Cold Soup - Veg Spinach soup which was totally excellent. Loved the presentation of the soup - it was more like a coctail - lovely in looks & taste. Ordered a light bite - Chicken Shawarama which was well done - brilliant in presentation again....Was done - great taste, pleasing to the eyes. lovely service. Along with the bill - also got an Enrich Salon coupon Complimentary...Nice gesture. Would visiting again surely for a sumptuous dinner or lunch...

A treat for the expat community!

Since moving in to Mumbai, Grillopolis Andheri has been one of my retreats from high handed Indian spice, which I must admit, though I love the aroma, is something my tummy is still struggling to cope with. Over this long Indian weekend, we spent sometime at Phoenix Market city at Kurla. Difficult to reach, but once in, it is a like any other mall back home. A bit of window shopping, which unfortunately is the same almost anywhere in the world now, what with same brands on display, and a quick disappointing tour of the Snow World later and the cacophony of the teenage crowd going berserk in the mall, it was time to break away. The food court on the upper levels was bursting at the seams with unruly kids. On our way down, we lucked into Grillopolis on the ground floor. A little unlike the Andheri outlet, Grillopolis here looks more like a getaway cafe than a formal restaurant. Never the less, the ambiance is quite a departure from what one encounters in most places. It is warm and rich with a very piazza feel to it. Loved the giant olive tree in the middle of the buffet. To me, it has the same level of wow one is used to at the their other outlet.
Since one cannot opt for the buffet at 4 pm, we settled down for their a la carte offering. First disappointment, liquor is yet to be served here, so no beer, no wine, nothing alcoholic! A crying shame because I have had some of the most adventurous cocktails at Andheri where the bartender makes it a point to wow us with his skills. We were told it has something to do with govt permission yet to come. Ho humm...!
We settled down with some interesting grilled chicken breast with red wine just, an experimental Tandoori chicken with creole rub, garlic crostini, wedges and some cappuccinos. The grilled chicken breast was big and juicy, done to a medium done ness where the blend of crisp outer and succulent insides come together in complete unison. Accompanied with sauteed broccoli, beans, charred onions and potato half's instead of the regular mash it was quite a filling meal. Liked the way the wooden platters are fitted with grill plates for serving here.
The Tandoori with creole rub, which I was afraid might be a bit on the spicier side, did not propel Michael into the orbit but had him settle down with a look of grilled bliss on his face. So far so good.
The crostini were freshly roasted so had the alluring aroma of fresh baked stuff which I find absolutely irresistible. The wedges, were well...wedges.
A filling mid evening meal instead of the snacker we were expecting to encounter. The surprise of the evening was the cappuccino. Light, aromatic, densely frothy and BIG. Now that's what I call a coffee with a head.
Made more enjoyable by the choice of concert videos playing and the unhurried demeanor of the servers.
At under a 1000 bucks for the fare it is a treat and sure to find enthusiastic patronage from the expats around.
An afternoon spent well after a few hiccups at the mall.

this way for grilled food!

It was the shopping season and I was literally ready to drop from exhaustion when we chanced upon this lovely and inviting diner..Grillopolis is everything it promises to be and much more.
We opted for the buffet dinner option if anything but because I was just too tired to even think about what to eat. Some lovely starters arrived at our table. There was pita bread, beautiful stuffed zucchini, mushrooms, cheese, lamb potlis..the stuff just coming on and on..The ambiance was relaxing..a large screen television had Yanni on and a beautiful model of a tree occupied the center portion of the restaurant..the lighting was subdued and honestly, did not feel like a busy restaurant in the middle of a teeming mall.
The main course was bountiful though we were almost full after all the starters. Flavors were good but what was interesting was the options on display. Finally we rounded off our meal with dessert. Just as sweet as the rest of the meat.
Overall at around Rs 650 per head, I think the meal was wonderful value for money. Lots of stuff on offer to tickle the gourmet's palate and you can enjoy it all without breaking the bank. Take your time with the meal and savor the flavors!

We really appreciate how you have summarized your entire Grillopolis experience into a short paragraph! I'll share with you that the concept of the Grillopolis Prix Fixe diner is to provide our guests with some delicious grilled Mediterranean food, a bundle of variety to choose from, a variation of tastes to try out, BUT all of that for reasonable money! Glad you understood it just as that!

What A Tandoori!

Most chicken eaters are fans of Tandoori Chicken, me being no exception! Now, roaming around Phoenix Market City, my wife showed me Grillopolis. We confirmed whether its the same as Andheri one. It was. The receptionist told us that they have come up with a new a la carte menu that did look interesting and unusual! What I liked was that it had that typical Grill house thing where you can choose your cut of meat with your choice of sauce and get it Grilled to your choice of doneness. However the steward suggested we have a look at the Tandoori page. He explained that Grillopolis has bought together different variations of a tandoori chicken that are made world wide...options like French Mustard Tandoori and Jamaican Creole Rub Tandoori!

We made an Order for Jamaican Tandoori and my vegetarian wife ordered some Exotic Vegetable Bowl which supposedly is like a bowl meal with herbed rice, vegetable and sauce. The order arrived in 20-25 minutes, which dint seem long at all since we were thoroughly enjoying the Eagles perform on the live screen. The service staff seemed very polite and courteous. They took good care of us.

The Creole Rub tasted very nice. The thyme-cayenne pepper flavor was very unlikely the typical stuff we eat around here. Doneness was perfect too. And my wife relished her bowl meal with broccoli, peppers and all with herbed rice.

Bottom line, we had a good time. And it was reasonable money spent for a good experience. Keep up the good work!

I heard a lot about this restaurant but its a sheer disappointment for both vegetarian and non vegetarian.
Poor poor service.

Too much show, Too little substance

Visited this restaurant during its starting days. They had a fixed menu at a reasonable price...or so we thought.

Our experience through the evening was another thing.

Some of the things I do remember of the visit were :

1. Stale dry bread on the table.
2. A dessert choice of about three desserts... Small pices of cakes and gulab jamun... Quite terrible.
3. Chicken grilled with some exotic herbs... Which was dry and did not taste like anything the name suggested.
4. Terrible service...the only thing i remember liking was a gilouti kebab which needed to be asked for about three times before it made an appearance...and was undercooked.

The tacky ambiance did not help. Everything from the artificial sun lit roof, the huge bell to the darn tree...just seemed to be put together out of lack of imagination. Kitsch was the only word that comes to mind.

On a last note...If they only paid more attention to things that mattered...food and service rather than the attitude...would serve them better.

my favorite restaurant

i have been there 4 times and love everything i have tried. I tried the a la carte menu the last time i visited. i have tried the French Mustard Tandoori Chicken and Turkish Kebabs, both of them are delicious. My brother had the buffet which is packed with great dishes, he only ate non-veg but my mom was absolutely enjoying the vegetarian fare too. In desserts I have tried a few from the a la carte, but i love the blueberry cheese cake and tiramisu. However I was jealous how my brother and mom, who were having the buffet could pile on, on the baklava repeatedly!

I like the ambiance and the people are really friendly and nice. I like that they bring an Ipad to you so that you can choose what music video you want to play on the big screen, that's really nice and its different from other restaurants, i don't know any other restaurant that does that.

Nice ambiance, Great attentive service. Prompt too. The food, everything tasted the same. Right from the starter to the mains. The only saving grace was the dessert. Please serve black coffee after the food if the customer asks do not deny it. As Greeks love their coffees also add an ice cream on your dessert counter. As on the day I visited it was not there. A great concept but make good use of spices and flavors. The food should not taste flat.

cockroach !!!! :O

Visited the restaurant today 07/07/12.

Not all cavemen scratched their beards and doodled on walls.. some also spent time perfecting the art of Grilling... that's kind of true when it comes to Grillopolis.

Had read some pretty awesome reviews about this place so decided to go there with some friends...even reserved a table just to be on the safer side...pretty awesome ambiance and some pretty good music for company as well...starters being served n guess what there was the grand entry of a COCKROACH on our table...(they supposedly fumigate the place everyday is what the head steward told me... I DON'T THINK SO).. however he did assure me i wouldn't find any cockroaches in the food.. i trusted him..

They serve you starters @ the table but the proportions (unlimited no doubt but 2 prawns then 1 chicken piece then 1 fish piece... boss I was 1 person but that doesn't mean I eat very little n wait n eat and wait some more n eat n wait some more...)

Main course - Good for the Non veg section I loved it; Average for the veg section is what my colleague tells me. ...
Desserts - needs to be upgraded big time ... too few n not up to the mark ... the chef needs to visit a couple of cake shops and find out what a MANGO CHEESE cake looks like and how it is prepared. ( they serve a normal mango cream flavored pastry n call it a cheese cake... I laugh as i dig into it... )

Overall for Rs. 650+ taxes ... wasn't the best food ... Hygiene needs an upgrade and pastry chef changed or atleast he needs to be trained again ...

Great food, Great Service, Great VFM

This is my second visit to Grillopolis and it was simply AWESOME. Special mention needs to be made of the hostess, Dimple & our server, Mr. S K Dhuri - both were extremely courteous, friendly and polite. The fact that Dimple remembered us from a previous visit there is what made me feel special & walk in again.

The food there is great, good & mouth-watering. There is a good variety of Starters and they were different from the last time is something that I noticed. The basa in tomato sauce was just yummy. The lamb meat balls, the paneer is done just right so that it melts in your mouth. Although the buffet menu included soup, it was missed out this time :(

The variety in the Main Course is just about right once your done with the Starters. The Lamb Stew with Carrots & Shallots is just delicious and made me go back for more. The Grilled Chicken with mashed potatoes was good, but I did find some rather tough pieces of chicken - not sure what happened here.

The Dessert menu needs to be reworked a bit. There were just 3 desserts - Mango Mouse, some chocolate pastry & Baklava. No Ice-cream, no Indian sweets :( I'd say leave the Baklava there and add some more desserts to this section.

You should also work on getting that Liquor Permit much faster & till then the complimentary drink should be unlimited.

The music playing on the big screen had variety which was really good & did not have the same thing playing in a loop for the almost 2 hours that we were there.

There was some issue in getting the table organized, even though we had a reservation.

All in all a great place for some delicious and sumptuous food and total Value For Money.

Decided to take another try at grillopolis this week. At this rate, we will soon be addicted to this place.
Service - no complaints.
Food- The soup (missed last time) was great- both the veg and the non veg ones. Still have the strange brinjal!!! Baby corn starter wasn't too great.Smoked chicken cubes was good, so was the cottage cheese. Presentation of food was better too. Main course was much better- mashed potatoes were awesome. Still no ice cream, dessert good.

Could be better

We had lunch at grillopolis. While the menu was great, we were disappointed by some of the dishes. The meat balls were tough, the brinjal strange, the beetroot kofta didn't look grilled (but deep fried- else too much oil/fat). However, all said and done, most starters (and that's what you visit grillopolis for) were good. Main course is passable, almost avoidable. Great cheese kulcha, onion kulcha had too much salt and was inedible. Veg kofta curry was too sweet. They had 3 desserts, the pista flavored cake and the brownies were fab. We were informed that their refrigeration unit had some problems, hence no ice cream. Don't know what happened to the Indian dessert.

Service was a mixed bag. The waiter took our order for the drinks and promptly came back in two minutes confused about who ordered what, and took our order again (this is with only 2 tables occupied!!). Starters were served quickly, however they lacked presentation. We have been to the andheri grillopis before and food LOOKS better there.
All in all, it was an ok experience, a tad disappointing. Mostly becuase we had a fab time when we went to the andheri grillopolis and came here with the same expectations. I do hope that the starting issues get ironed out quickly.

June 26, 2012response from management at NisheethSharan:

Thank you for the feedback. We are addressing the issues raised by you. Given a while to iron the teething troubles of a new outlet, we should be able to live up to your andheri experience. Thanks for your custom and do keep us posted on your opinions. Thats the only way we chart our course.

Wholesome experience..........!!

Had been @ GRILLOPOLIS on account of my friends birthday, it lived to my expectations of good food, excellent ambiance, courteous and very friendly service staff. The most imp thing i felt was, the staff were frequently educating us on the dishes they are bringing to the table, so that we know what we are eating unlikely other fine dinings
Now speaking about the food. I have been here for a lunch buffet. And i must say, the buffet was widely spread with all authentic salads, Main course, starters etc. Since i myself is a Hotel Management graduate and have seen and eaten all the cuisines, the food served at grillopolis was very authentic as compared to other resto which claims TO BE AUTHENTIC, But sadly they are not. The spread had 10 STARTERS both veg and non veg, their Grilled Sea bass is very amazing accompanied by PERI PERI Grilled Prawns. In Indian there was Gilavati Kebab, which was again truly Lucknowi in taste. Main Course had Crab, Rissoto, Pasta, Dal Makhni, Dum Biryani, etc.
Last but not the it was a True A-Lister for me, After trying many of the Resto right from 5stars resto to a Dhaba. Reasonably priced at 550+taxes for lunch.

At 640 rupees, you are given a wide spread of great dishes, unlimited iced tea and great, great music. They have set up a projector playing concerts of Queen, Rod Stewart, Adele and Enrique. What can go wrong? Among the starters, the stuffed potatoes, lamb and prawns were clear winners. My friends could not stop gushing about the tandoori crab masala and the chicken in cranberry sauce (for the mains). I personally loved the pumpkin risotto, the ratatouille and the paneer makhani. Desserts included mango mousse, bakalava, chocolate cake and a layered cake. We sipped constantly on kiwi and strawberry iced teas while enjoying our food heartily. Listening to good music, eating good food, this places does make your Sunday a very happy day. I would highly recommend!

Mediterranean food...and we get Dal Tadka!!

Well this one should juts call themselves a grill place because there is nothing Mediterranean about it except for the olives. The starters had peri peri prawns which is Portuguese, lime chicken which is oriental, galaoti kebabs which is awadhi. Mains had no greek salad, no babaganoush, the hummus tasted no good, and had dal tadka to begin with. Chinese noodles that too horribly oily... and crab in pepper sauce which is oriental again, chicken in in some Chinese sauce again... and roti on your tables instead of a bread basket. As the Manager described he is serving comfort food he might as well declare that on the entrance and not raise hopes by using names like Mediterranean and Greek.
So people who know their food and have a taste for different cuisines... just watch before you enter this place or better take a U-turn and head to Andheri west.

Loved Grillopolis

I live in Kohinoor city in Kurla. Phoenix Market City is like bliss to anybody living on this side of the city. Since I had been to the Grillopolis in andheri once before, I knew about their concept and had loved it before also.

Grillopolis has certainly lived up to their yardstick in terms of ambiance, interiors, feel and decor. Some pretty peach and pink flowers catch your attention as you enter the restaurant. A charming and soft spoken receptionist hosted us in and showed us around. We surely couldn’t expect the kind of interiors we saw. There’s a big brass bell hung midway the restaurant and which can be rung too! There’s some nice illusion windows on one wall and a life-like big olive tree in the center of the buffet table.

Coming to the major chunk of it, the concept remains the same with 10 starters, 2 soups, 6 salads, 12 main course dishes and 4 desserts. The service looked like in developing phase as it was just their 3rd week. But having said that, the amount of attention and concern shown to us was unmatched. And not to forget the call I received the next afternoon of my visit just to thanks us for visiting them.

The food was delicious. The best part was that the starters are made all in front of you, freshly! I kept hanging around the live kitchen for as long as a while to catch a glimpse of how interestingly these guys prepare food.

All in all I’d say I like Grillopolis. The pricing is so reasonable. I paid Rs.550 per person for a Wednesday night dinner. The music that played was great with some Eric Clapton strumming his guitar.

I’d surely be back for more.

Great Service...Great Time

Although this opened just a few days ago, I decided to visit last night as it is a branch of the Andheri Grillopolis. And wasn't disappointed.

Based on the concept of Grills at the table, and buffet, Grillopolis serves mainly Mid Eastern food, with a smattering of Indian. Five veg, Five non-veg starters, a good variety of Main Courses, a few desserts, and non-alcoholic drink.

Ambiance was great. A huge TV played Yanni, though I'm sure its good to go for matches too.

Starters were freshly prepared, and delicious. Main course tastes good but nothing exceptional, as to be expected from a buffet. Had first servings of every dish, and I did have seconds of the Basa Grilled, Mushroom Risotto, and Prawns. Everything worth eating...no criticism for any of the dishes served.

Would definitely visit again with friends and/or family.

Damages - Rs. 2800 for 4 adults and 2 children...tip extra.
