First up, it is not a restaurant. It is a discotheque. The food that they serve is just snacky tit-bits as accompaniment for drinks. The music on the ground floor is retro while the 1st and the 2nd floor have hip hop and other contemporary types of music. Cover charge is 1000 bucks for a couple but you can spend that amount inside. It does not buy you much though, a breezer is 200-250 bucks, a bacardi rum double is 400 bucks. If you want a table on a Saturday nite, reach there by ten. If you plan to spend the evening shaking a leg on the dance floor, go anytime later. The music is great, the ambiance is very relaxed. People come here to chill, not to show off.
A must visit for all the youngsters and the young at heart.
Am still in a bad shock thing
Went here quite often used to be my favourite place to go , cause of the music and also cause the owner was a female who i admired for her method to run the place . ,but i never imagined that after my last visit on 31st December 2013 things were gonna for lets put it this way form a middle class girl with love for her retro i had hit my rock bottom .
why u say--
i entered the place on 5ths Jan 2014 and man was i surprised seeing at the rates take off like crazy i was like What on Earth happened .. i cant afford this ,Even that humble glass of water that was given if asked for wasn't free anymore ..
WATER was not free a simple glass of even a normal pub that was free of cost till now , here now you have to buy a bottle of water .. no more free water at all..
I cant affor rates like 270rs per small pint .. lost me totally very sad..
visited on sunday
I visited hawiaan shack on sunday around 11.30 pm. yes it was crowded. the crowd is more of stags. Quality of crowd was pretty much ok but the only thing you should be aware of when you visit this place is ask for bill every time you order something bcoz the waiters here will charge you double the price of the bill and keep the money in their pockets. on sunday only hip hop is played and the last floor is shut so you have gr + 1 with the dancing crowd on level 1.
Nice lounge with entry without guest list
Hawaiian Shack is one of the first pubs, we explored after moving to Mumbai. Well to tell you the truth we landed there by mistake, we were looking for some other place but fond this one. A good mistake I must say.
Well you need bid adieu to thousand bucks as cover charges (on the weekend) to enter this little shack, and once you enter it transports you to Hawaii, oh well if not Hawaii then atleast to a shack in Goa. The wooden log tables, fishing nets, bamboo taps, green and blue florescent lighting and a beautiful boat shaped bar adorn this place. Well even the waiters are dressed in colourful flowery shirts. well some of you may find in cliche and dingy but I loved it.
The food is good and the service is prompt. It has three different dance floors each grooving to different genre of music.
Overall it is good place to unwind and have fun with friends. Only one piece of advice for the management - keep a check on the kind of crowd you are letting in.
Lost Its Sheen
Visited Hawain Shack after a very long time recently. The place has enforced some rules with respect to dancing and hence they just would't alow us to groove even a little bit. Felt like a school kid being reprimanded for doing something wrong. The food and drinks are quite reasonable though and the ambience hasn't changed much with the three sections playing different genres of music intact.
Best retro hut in Mumbai
Its just best for all age groups ..ground floor retro music is fun and loud with little dancing steps with eye candy around lol ... and yeah surely hip hop and bollywood loud music on the upper floor, reasonable rates and food, good crowd everything. The best: once you visit you will just keep going...only thing no guest entry for couple and stag has to pay ..but worth cover charges and especially DJ sachin plays cool and foot tapping music. Plz visit once as its top 5th pub in India.... cheerssssss
One time go...maybe
Giving it 2 stars for the music (on the ground floor only)...crowd is just about OK, food is too bad, cocktails suck, dance music on second and third floor is repetitive and becomes boring after 30 mins or so, waiter kept pestering us to buy more drinks and is over priced.
Is overhyped...so maybe you can try it once just to say "Yeah I've been to Hawaiin Shack"...LOL
If you do go, stick to drinking and dancing only, don't experiment with food. Dancing starts around 10.30-11.00'ish on the second/third floor and goes on till closing time.
Hope you enjoy more than us :)
Shack getting from awesome to worse
I have been goin to Hawaiian shack for the past 4 years and the music is awesome the manager was ok and the food was great.. visited the place every week and was brilliant.. lately over the past 2 weeks the music in the Juhu Hawaiian shack Dj Val apparently sucks with so much of freakin attitude.. and music SUCKS.. i don't even know why he is back... and what happened to the dj with all the tattoos from Bandra shack he was awesome there were no words to describe his music and energy... The food is good the rates of alcohol are good .. the crowd has become horrible the new GM of shack is a complete weirdo touchin and acting close to the girls.. he was hittin on us and a complete freak... and the standards of shack have dropped seriously Owner of shack look into the matter... and the sound was jarring.. get new speakers!!!!
This place SUCKS !!!!
Had come down to Mumbai few weeks back...And was looking to experience all the partying places down here. But trust me this place really sucks (the fact that I'm writing it down now at 01:00hrs on a saturday night shows the frustration). The service levels are too bad, cheap crowd. I had gone thru the reviews before visiting this place; aftr looking aftr so many negative reviews stil have no clue y I visited dis place. I strictly advise first timers to not go here. ITS NOT WORTH IT...NOT AT ALL. There are better places nearby..
If you ask any party animal to name the most famous watering hole in Bandra; Hawaiian Shack pat comes the reply. I have been here twice and have had a fairly decent experience, thanks to the company. On both the occasions the place appeared to be mellow to start with, soon turning into a fest of wannabe guys and mark-my-word...uncles, who stood in every corner with glasses ogling at girls and women dancing.
Anyway moving on...The entire place is wooden - flooring to furniture to staircase to bar. It would be wrong to say dim lighting, because the lighting is almost nil ;)
The three floors have a distinct flavour. The ground level plays retro and is almost always jam packed. The other levels have a dance floor and play Bollywood and Rock. The music is good. Dancing starts around 11-11.30pm. Till then people are just chilling. Once the dancing begins you realize that suddenly the crowd of 30 odd people swells to 70+. That's when the suffocation starts and to add to that sweating. yuck!
They hardly had items that we chose to order and the food was strictly okay with rates being expensive. Nothing to write home about. Just 2 veg starters, 2 mocktails and 2 cocktails cost us around Rs 2400! Or wait, were we overcharged?!
The service was okay since we did the ordering around 10pm when there hardly were people. But the order did take 40 min to reach us. The staff is not so friendly and scarce. The only ones there are visible clearly thanks to their Hawaiian themed floral beach shirts.
Overall, its a fine place. Nothing like how it used to be earlier. You could maybe visit once.
the crowd needs to be scrutinized
The over all experience was good.. but like temptations_19 i too felt.. there were too many stags and cheap ppl out there.. the bouncers were a big help :) still i request Hawaiian shack to pls scan the crowds before allowing them to enter .. Girls especially don't feel safe when strange men keep staring and try to grope them.. and u just have to look at them and know they got drunk somewhere else and came to HS to create ruckus
Great place to meet a husband.
Not kidding, this is where I met my husband. Aside from that, though, it is a long time favorite of mine. I like the music, I like the snacks (the thread chicken is especially amazing). I like all the new floors of fun above the ground floor. I like it, I like it.
From Greatest Fan to Greatly Disappointed
I frequent this place quite often. I have even celebrated my b'day, Christmas & New Year at Hawaiian Shack last year! But the last time I was there around 2 weeks back I was totally bored. The ground floor level had pple just standing around which totally killed my mood. The 1st floor level DJ was weird. He played some odd hip hop interspersed with hindi music. What the hell is gong on? Someone fix it! Drinks & food OK. I just go there to drink & dance. I guess its time to get a new DJ!
I'm a regular party goer..been to almost all the happening clubs in mumbai..But for this place "thieves / robbers"-this is what I have to say. Visited this place more than fifty times but most of the time I got robbed/ cheated/ by the bartenders mainly Ashish and Anthony. Wondered how the management is so blind and negligible. Put them behind the bar(jail) else one day they will ruin your place as well as your name.
Music is good.other thn this buggers i love this place.....

Perverts Paradise - Hawaiian Shit
This is by far the shadiest place ive evr been to.....the music is good but ovrall this place is not worth it, its filled with wanabees, the ground floor music n scenes are chill, but the moment you go upstairs..its hell. The place is super crowded, darker with perverts and stags lurking around...these ppl enter paying the nominal entry fee in big groups with the only intention to lech, molest and harass the girls.
I guess its bcoz these guys dont have access to Dance bars anymore, so they come hear. The place gets soo crowded dat its difficult for any women to protect her modesty, a couple of years back wen i used to frequent this place, it still used to be crowded but the crowd was nvr this cheap.
The bouncers are also busy leching at women, i had to actually go and ask a bouncer to look the other way.........as he was constantly leching and starring in our direction, which made my friends very uncomfortable.
And mind you these bouncers are hand in glove with the perverts, as these guys frequent this waterhole from the looks of it. so dont expect any help, ur on ur own.
Any self respecting man, who cares about his women will nvr evr step foot in this place, there are way betr places.
Memories of the old and still fun
Was at Hawian Shack on my first visit to mumbai about 7 years ago when i was a tourist, was there again a couple of weeks ago being a resident , and the experience was the same ... Awsome, it was great fun, good music and great food, if you think spending 1500 for a night is expensive then i suggest you buy a bottle and sit at home. reading other reviews suggested that the owners are uptight but why would you care if your having fun. Loved it and recommend it to anyone who love a good time.
The place sucks.. nothing of the original flavour
This place used to be a regular joint as must be for the reguals.. but right now .. it is awful.. they play the same music as 5 years back.. but the worst part is the staff who have become demigods.. and especially the manager who thinks he is the decendent from Caesar's family..
There are atleast 30 - 40 better places that this now in town.. so regulars.. get in touch in case you'd want to know of the better places.. :)
Save yourself of the torture!!
Good place.. Change person who says he's Manager
Guys the place is good in terms of mucic and all but surely the guy who says he is "Manager" needs to go.. he says he is the owner but has the audacity to tell the regulars to "fuck off" (he actually used these words). He says he can do anything as he owns the place.. does he?? It is us who make it famous.. we need to teach this guy a lesson.. pls join in its an appeal to regulars.. let not this guy take this great hangout from us!!
Good music as compared to many other bollywood music thumping bars but too crowded on the weekends, the waiters hound you to buy drinks that are almost over priced. Their cover-charge is too much and basically not worth it because on the weekends you are just ambushed by people. Stupid and sub standard in my opinion.
If you're a freak for retro music, this place is a must visit. From beginning to end, I was able to identify each and every song that played. Totally loved it.
Alcohol is not too expensive and neither is it cheap.a pint of beer would cost you INR200 (before the increase in alcohol prices).
The good part about the place is that if you're tired of the retro music, you can always move upstairs where house/commercial music is clasting through the speakers.
All in all a very nice place for a good night out.
The only downside is that it shuts wayyy to early. it's like you're just about getting started and BAMMM, its over!!! but, apart from this, Shack is the place to be at!
shit place the staff are thieving bastards
a group of ten of us visited on 25th March 11 we ordered some starters which were shite, the fuking thieving waiter was serving drink and collecting the coupons from me and also going around and randomly charging my friends for drinks, when confronted he said oh he didn't know we were one group when we asked him to send the manager he disappeared for half an hour and came back saying the manager isn't on duty to come back the next morning. over and above he took 1000 INR notes and disappeared without returning the change. i wish there was a standards of trading agency in India to report fuckers like them. avoid this place the plague. thieving bastards.
This Is the Place to be!!!!!!! Splendid!!!
I recently visited this groove hub, on 11th feb with three of my friends. We were charged 4K for four person which is Quiet reasonable as compared to other night clubs in Mumbai and especially when you are clubbing on a Friday night.
I have been to Shack many times but after a long gap i finally visited there on friday. We reached here by 10pm and it was empty as the party just started but slowly and gradually people started comin in and till 11pm the hub was packed with all the party animals, Let me tell you, the crowd here reminds me of the ights when I used to club at Poison, Dam good people. This place has got 3 levels out of which me and my friends were on the level1 most of the time, as they were playing HIP-HOP and soft RnB music only on level1.
Also the starters were yummy specially the chicken rolls and paneer. Apart from that the bartenders were very friendly and knows how to keep the customers happy by servins some nice cocktails and mocktails. We had some pints of kingfisher, Some pinacolados and tequilla shots, also tried some wisky everything was up to the mark.
We have to purchase additional coupons worth 2K as we ended the coupons quiet early.
The only thing which disappointed me was that the party here ends so early at 1am, due to the laws and restrictions.
But overall it was a wonderful experience and will visit this place again very soon!!!
last option in mumbai
if all the places in mumbai were closed and this was open i would go here!!!ambience is not good plus dodgy under construction building type stairs leading to first and second floor.packed like sardines on sat night which is pretty amazing!!! havent people partying in mumbai heard of better looking cooler places.this place and china house lounge is like chalk and cheese.!!!!!!
Visited : Yesterday ( Wednesday)
Ambiance : Quite decent. Homey.
Price : Free for girls, 400 for Stag. w .400 Rs Worth of drinks
Drinks : Diluted. Price range from 200 - 500. Not worth it.
Music: Ground level - Retro/ Jive-y number
First level - Hip Hop
Even tho the disc is open from 6pm - 1:15 am, there wasn't much of a crowd even at 11 ! But after that...the place was as crowded as a weekend night! The crowd is good, decent, with many foreigners.
The management wasn't really bad. They did their work. So no complaints there!
Recommend : YES! If you're on a budget, and want a good place to dance (esp. if u're a girl) Hawaiin Shack's the place to be!
So so place...
Hey heard about this place by a friend who had been here no. of times . I liked the place it's small cozy place, charged for entry even if enter in couple. Drinks are been charged too much then other places around; cob skin & ground shells were spread all over the place to show some sort effect god knows what ....Not that great menu for food...
One of the best place to hang out in Bandra
I been to this place more than 10 times..Still this place come as 1st option in my mind every saturday..nice place to hang out, reasonable price, good music n good crowd too.. Yeah i do agree this place is always over crowded n dicey too..n its splitted into 3 small size area floors which never give u a feel of great night club.. I never tried food so can't comment nything on this..
Well well well! So I decided I will leave my anti-Bandra sentiments home for a day and venture out for a nice evening with friends at HS. The guys at the counter were seasoned lechers who would size up each couple and still ask like a cowboy "How many boys and girls?" as if he was the Sheriff of that place. Then comes a shabby blue ink patch on your wrist from an inkpad which has just finished its lifelong duties at the
Indian Postal Service at Darbhanga and has made way here post retirement. Follow this with a frisking routine, and you are in the famous HS. Firstly it takes some time before you can make sense of the space. On hanging around, you realise that there is a level above and a level above that as well. The climbing through the narrow staircase ofcourse is dependant upon one rope which is actually the railing to grab - an example of how an interpretation of "shack" can go wrong.
Once you have found yourself a corner at the upper level and settled down, a waiter will approach you with a menu.
Oh! Did i forget to tell you that two waiters have already tried to shove a menu between me and my girl while we were going up the levels? Nevermind!
This "Menu man" will then pay you a vist every 3-4 min asking you for the order till he finally gets one. The Mojito I ordered
was sweeter that limits and had more of mint and lime than alcohol. My girl's Cosmo came in a glass which I would have rather expected Bade-Mian to serve Tuti-fruti in, though he
would have done a better job. The drink however was ok. The DJ started with a few decent hip-hop numbers but slowly drifted
to bangra and remix of oldies. I do like bangra too but overdose is overkill.
Asked for more drinks by now and I got my balance cash with coupons. I asked for the last Breezer with the coupons and cash and waited for 15 min. All this while, there are people dancing all around oblivious of the fact that there are a few invisible boundaries to be maintained. When I caught up with my "menu man", he claimed he has already served me the drink. Now you know who is on all the alcohol at HS. Some prodding and I got back my cash and the coupons which he said wil be reimbursed downstairs. No points for guessing that did not happen.
I hate to be over-critical, but HS made me even more allergic to the Bandra joints which just spring up without any quality or class. The experience over all was "Shady" to say the least but the place did have a vibe, just that it was not on my frequency.
Went there on Friday last. Have to say after listening/reading to many good reviews I was disappointed when I reached the place, majorly coz i felt it was crampy and the music distasteful. The place has 2 floors in addition to the ground floor plus a terrace, although I didn't reach the terrace & each floor to me seemed progressively more crampy(probably coz there were 10 of us). Finally we settled for the ground floor for it didn't seem 10 people could sit comfortably elsewhere in this place.
We ordered for drinks and starters. As the night progressed the music did not improve. Have to say the songs were sadly boring, sparing a couple of numbers from Red Hot C.P. and a few others I am almost sure the DJ played from a CD titled "Songs to bore". A request to play some soft rock met with a frown on his face followed by "No we don't play rock" and I gave up as I tried to be indifferent to the music and focused more on my friends(a relief we were a handful)
The waitresses all chink-is(I don't think that's a derogatory word) offered good service at the start. But became very stressed as the crowd started pouring in. And I think I heard one say "I am very busy" to one of the blokes on another table.
We left the place a little past 11.pm as we felt rather bored with the music and the place became more and more crowded with dudes rather than chicks. Ended spending better time at a pub in Andheri where the music was hap and plenty of space to groove.
As I entered the first thoughts:
1.This place is not as big as I'd expected.
2.Music is boring. Ah well maybe the DJ is warming up(he never did).
Now the only thing that could evaporate the feeling of disappointment formed in me was tasty food but alas, in a world as imperfect a this it wasn't to be. Although I am not very fond of veg, I thought the veg food was better than non-veg. Of the veg dishes I remember, Paneer Hariyali was nice, Spring roll was so-so, gobi dishes were bad. We had fish fingers which were so-so, chicken chilli(arrived cold) and prawns garlic masala both weren't anything near to good tasting food.
Nothing great I felt of the place. We were quite a big group and we did have good fun but more coz of the company rather than the place. I thought if we had visited even a cheaper place we would still have a very good time for less :) Think the place is a bit too over-rated. In one word for me- NoNdescript!
A Horrible Night Out
It had been a while since I had visited the shack. We were cheated by the Hawaiian Shack staff (A particularly rude Mr. Mridul) into paying Rs.800 per person on a Wednesday night. After entering, we asked around and found out that everyone else had paid Rs.400 per person. So, we confronted the Manager (Mr. Naik or so he told us) and initially he said that its Rs.800. After further prodding, he admitted that some mistake has happened but did not agree to reverse the 'mistake' and laughingly told us that we can use the extra amount that we have paid as cover charges. When we said that we would rather have the extra money back, he said that he will allow us free entry the next time we visit. Given that one visits such places to relax and enjoy and not get ripped off, it left a very bad taste in the mouth. Surely, there won't be a next time Mr. Naik.
Drooling Guys thrive in this Place
with a ratio of 80:20 i.e boys : girls this place surely is not the place for a couple. If you like boys, men and oldies trying to get a hit on you female friend then this is the place. No dancing space, no moving space, cheap bollywood music getting played on weekends, success is gone into thier heads!!!! Go to other pubs like firangi Paani and the New Escobar atleast there you would feel safe with your friends and they are welcoming!!!!
Let's pump up this party!
Every time I go to Hawaiian Shack, I feel my mood (whatever it might be) reach psychitude levels! The music's amazing, you just feel like dancing and going completely crazy. So what if it's a little too crowded? It totally rocks! That's why we keep coming here. Three Cheers! :-) The service is pretty much cool too. It's the coolest shack there is. :-)
P.S. I f you're the kind who likes to spot celebs, you're likely to spot a few faces here.
P.P.S The best place to have Tequila shots ;-) Not that Tequila's different otherwise but it's just that in the shack, they awesome away your brain like no other TS can. WOO HOO!
Good But overcrowded
First of all thanks fellow burrpers for recommending this place, based on your reviews me and my friend went to the Shack on last Saturday, 2nd Jan. We were hoping that the place will not be crowded (assuming people's pockets must be dried out after the new years bash), but we were in for a big surprise. The place was full, the moment we entered, we lost all hope of getting a table so decided that we will spend the night by the bar counter.
We had to pay 1400/- as cover charges for the entry, the staff at the gate was pretty courteous and so was the valet guy.
Me and my friend have different taste in music. While she loves to wiggle on some hip-hop/bollywood, i prefer the old school rock music, Floyd, zepplin types.
The choice of music on different floors is what really appealed to me. I had the opportunity to listen to some rock and then go to the first floor and embarrass myself by dancing (I am a terrible dancer , yeah cant help it).
The second good thing about this place is that they have a smoking lounge :). The lounge is spaced out and not cramped. The room does get filled with smoke, but is comparatively better than most other places where I have been.
Food options are limited. We tried the golden fried prawns, I would rate them 3 on 5. Nothing great or nothing really bad. I would say, they were edible if you were having a good time with friends and didn't care much about the food. A plate of golden fried prawns costed me Rs. 300.
Plenty of options, they have a pretty well stuffed bar. Quite a list of cocktails. A large peg of Smirnoff/Bacardi will cost around 350/drink. I guess the beer was priced @ 200/bottle.
The flip side is that there was only 1 bar tender attending to like a million people stuffed on the first floor. It took me an average of 20 minutes to get my drinks (one vodka for my girl and a bacardi for me). The service was too slow. After getting the first drink, even though I was itching for some long island iced tea, I did not dare to order one, fearing that the bar will close by the time this guy serves my drink.
The bar tender was very arrogant. Did not care that people were standing for a long time. The queue resembled that outside a ration shop. on that count the experience was horrible.
The waiters were not at all keen on taking orders from us. After my friend complained that she is too hungry, I had to hunt down a waiter and reward him a photo of Gandhi with no 100 written on it. Not to my surprise, the prawns were served in 10 minutes to the corner where I was standing. It was indeed awful, I had to bribe the guy to get me food, for which I had to pay :((. The waiters and the staff are interested in talking only if you tip them in advance, else keep waiting for them to approach your table, which I am assuming, never happens :(
Be sure to redeem your coupons on time else money will be wasted. I had to settle with a breezer because the bar was shut :(
The music that they play is pretty good. I don't dance normally, but somehow I found myself attempting to try a step or two that day. I don't know who gets the credit, my lovely date who i was trying to impress or the DJ who played a pretty good set, lets give the benefit of doubt to the DJ.
Final Rating 4/5:
even though the service was sloppy and the place crowded, my date was very happy. We had great fun, so sparing these guys with a good rating.
Msg for the mgmt:--- IMPROVE SERVICE, GET RID OF THE BRIBE HUNGRY WAITERS
Do You Love Crowd!!!
on Saturdays the crowd is too much and it fills all the floors of this pub and the music is nice on first floor if you are filmy type and good on ground floor if you are with your gf.. Could be better if a large dancing area can be done.. DJ is good but food choice is very limited ...
I simply love love this place!! It has three levels where three different genres of music are being played. The third level is usually booked for a private party. There's usually a Rs400 entry fee for a stag or a couple. The coupons can be reimbursed for drinks inside... Fair enough.
There is no chance for anyone to dislike the music as you can switch to another level for a change. Its supercrowded on weekends and fairly crowded on weekdays as well. So if your planning to have a rocking time, shack is the place to be!!
Crowded, Loud and Fabulous
We went on Halloween night. The theme and ambience were appropriately creepy... complete with bouncers in Grim Reaper costumes, skeletons hanging from the ceiling and waiters with glowing devil horns. And lighting that made your teeth, eyes and anything white glow eeriely in the dark.
The cover charges are nominal, for an average Saturday night out, and there's no seperate entry.
The drinks and food were decent.
But the best part was the music. We spent time on the ground floor and the second floor and got treated to a great mix of Rock, Retro and Bollywood. You can't help but tap your feet, bop your head and then, join in with the dancing.
Great place to hang out with a group... and show off Bombay nightlife to visitors from the less privileged cities :)
My must visit venue!
Small but cosy, and can get too packed.. but the music is great. The DJ 'NEVER' plays any song requested although you have that 'request a song option'! food is good, love the chicken tikka's... drinks are the usualy as is the price, the barmean are quite prompt...
2 levels make it intresting although you'd never belive it had another 3!
When I visit from Dubai this is the place I have to go or my holiday in mumbai isn't complete :)
hawaiyan shock more like it!
my maiden visit saw a band that could charitably be called choirboy meet caterwauling. charged 1000 bux/couple cover charge and served our first watered down drinks after 45 minutes of standing on the bar.
ordered two starters that took forever to appear...and came one after the other... after a couple dozen reminders ...and were totally disappointing.
Crowd was again ho-hummish, more into cricket and tellygazing than anything else. .
Suggestion- happily give this one a miss.
Awful is an understatement
this place needs to be off burrp.. it spoils this website ..
anyone intending to visit this place , rather go to dharavi to any shack and you will be treated better than this place.
the staff is rude and un-inviting
the staff at the entrance charges according to your age and how you look, poor teens in front of me were charged 1000, while i was charged 400 for a couple !
the food is oily and pathetic
the seating is uncomfortable.
the crowd SUCKS.. not decent at all..
I request fellow Burrp=ers .. you rather go to toto s ( i know its not that great, but anything is better than this swine joint)
Watch your drink...& your Bill!!!
About 8 times in the last one year, we have caught them trying to fudge the bill ( A few extra drinks appear on your bill magically & when you confront them, they knock it off without a murmur) or under pouring the drinks ( so much so that now we have to stand by the bar and watch them pour, however inconvenient it is).Whats worse, unlike earlier, when they used to be cheap enough for one to pay for an extra one/ not bother about a 50 ml pour for every 60 ml ordered. now they've become madly expensive too!! Do you know an LIT at Hard Rock and the LIT here is the same price ( except HRC has taxes of about 50 bucks, but hell, you dont have to watch them like a hawk when they make it)
This place was the original hang out for a lot of us back when it was fun, honest and priced a little more in line with the experience. But I guess they lost the plot somewhere.
It was one of my favorites places in Bandra. Especially when i liked to party a lot. But now its kinda giving me mixed reactions of whether this place is actually for partying or just chilling out with some college kids. Music theme varies everyday. I really can't believe they play Hindi songs on a Saturday night. Total disappointment.
The last time had been there, it was really a sorry for me.
The good things about this place is two different sections for two different kinds of audience. Mostly techno or trance playing at the ground floor. and all the Hindi, and English Dance number playing on the first and second floor. One more good part is that any private party can be arranged on the second floor. can be reserved.
The sorry part is, too much crowded on weekends. Rs1000 for stag entry, fully covered. too much of chillum chilli before entering. mostly College going Junata. and Hindi songs.....i will forever strongly register this thought of having a bad experience for playing Hindi songs.
Other wise the place is good when u r from a age group of 18 to 22. bus.......
Most Stupid Place in Bandra
1. Cover charges vary...acc to there mood.

Racist Dharavi Pirates in a Boat at Banrda
Dear unknown friends,
Hawaiian Shack is a ripoff pirates on a boat.....My friends insisted that its THE PLACE TO HANG OUT, The "Cool" place to be in....so couldn't resist to check it out..
Well, at the gate itself there were four or five Bouncers cum cover chargers cum face controllers cum racial discriminators.
There is lot of discrimination and face control in HS...Some dudes were let in even when they were in groups, while some dudes who wanted to check the place out but were not upto their face mark were not allowed.... saying stags and groups are not welcome on weekends and there is also some party going on..
We were waiting for our friends to come and i saw one couple being charged 1000 each while other being charged 400 clearly based upon looks and dress.
Some group couples got the shock of their party life when they were asked to shell out 8000 bucks while it clearly should have being 4000, 1000 for each couple..but they charged 1000 for each one of them cos they were not upto there mark in face and dress....They left grinding.
Then came the masters of the universe....a blonde and white dude...and .voila...the bouncers and the managers face lit up....they literally stood up ..shaked hands (they never did that with any Indians) and one bouncer went with them inside what looked like being a guard :o)
I had lost interest seeing discrimination happening in India..i had seen enough abroad...but my friend were over the moon seeing the babes go in and wanted to get in at any cost.
Yes if you are single girl, its still 400, but be ready to be asked 100,000 times by single guys inside,
Well, finally my friends arrived and in the waiting time...i saw outright discrimination based on looks, dress and ..yes..if you wear glasses, 90% of the time you will be charged 1000 even if you are with your gf and if you go alone with glasses...be ready to be knocked out by excuses from bouncers.
Well...Inside..what can i say....Its a veranda shorter than my house with a boat at the end...with couple of snooty s serving you the drinks and to give a Hawaiian look....recruited east Indian babes..who are by the way the only positive thing as they are polite and attentive to the orders.
It just gets crammed over and over as the time goes by, and the music ..God..when will they stop last Christmas and hotel California as if to show their theme is old 80's music...which of course is but to what end..they should keep that thing playing again and again and again..
All drinks are overly priced...hell..you wont even find that in states or even in Hawaii for that matter.
250 bucks for a shot of Bacardi...250 whiskey.....250 to 300 for half cooked chicken pops..by the time..you had your third drink...your 1000 coupon is over and the snooty will ask for your credit card.
If this place would have being in Hawaii or Thailand or Moscow...it would have being closed long time ago..
What i found disgusting was discrimination between Indians based on looks. We were let in, but i lost interest, seeing other being shooed away .
I have heard about blacks being turned away in HW long time back, with excuses that they were selling drugs inside.....but that trick wont work with Indians..so they come up with all sort of silly excuses to keep guys away..who they think are unfit in looks.
Guys...If you want to witness outright discrimination and have any doubts about what i said...just go today being a Saturday and wait for just 15 minutes near the gate to get disgusted.
I wish, we as an internet community strongly protest , the discrimination shown by HW, so that they could come to their senses.
I will post this in other forums as well, as i what i saw really left a bad taste.
Please do not go to such places.
Only wish they had a dance floor...
Had wanted to visit since a long time since people strongly recommended. It was totally different frm what I expected. What can I say. I just loved this place. Best place I have been to in a while.
Basically it has three floor but the ground is the most rocking. The first & second have decent music but are kind of empty more like resto bar so went preferred the ground floor.
Music: What can I say. It has the most amazing music that totally makes your feet move.
Crowd: is good and the place is totally packed with no space at all. If you want a decent place to sit or stand for that matter its better to reach a bit early because it gets quite packed.
Service: Well considering the place was soo packed I cant blame them but the waiter just disappeared after our second order and never came back.
Drinks: Very fine though possibly the smallest glasses Ive ever seen.
Its highly recommended and a must go for the music. Only wish they either had a dance floor.
Shack a Laka a Boom Boom
Hawaiian Shack- Where do i begin???
Well, lets start with the music. The place has three floors, I will only comment on the ground floor where they always play retro to alternative rock. The first and second play house, hip house and bollywood music.
The upside- the songs will elevate your mood; the downside- you will generally hear the same song in the same flow the next time you go there. The issue: you will still go there cos there is a serious dearth of places where you can enjoy good music with a good ambiance and some good people.
The people- Since Shack is situated where Khar ends and Bandra begins, it's always managed to have a good crowd of well dressed, well behaved people. It's not one of those places where you see too many men staring about; its a place where people don't get aggressive when your hand hits someone while dancing cos they know you didn't intend that in the first place, and they don't mind if you place your drink at their table cos you don't have a table of your own (this last one's probably because they have been in the same situation before themselves). Towards the end of the evening, everyone's singing along and shaking a leg to the good ol' retro tracks.
The place- It's nicely done, a bit claustrophobic due to the use of too much dark wood and dark lighting, but you take it in your stride.
Now, this is where I will come to the element of Hawain Shack- its usually crowded, the music on the ground floor is repetitive, and the drinks and food is higher than average. If this was the case with any other place, ideally people would refrain from going there, But Shack never seems to lose its crowd. If its does lose a few fans, there seems to be no dearth of people waiting to get in. So, the magic is working!!
Best club in Mumbai
Have been to this place a million times, even some of the waiters & DJ know me now and even though the music is repetitive, its still my fave place to hang out by far...If in the mood to just sit or dance a li'l to retro music then the ground floor is the place to be..Personally I prefer the first floor, great hip-hop and the place is really alive after 11 or so..Great place for friends to chill..Not expensive & consistently good service..Would try n avoid Fridays n Saturdays coz if you're not in before 10:30,the place is so jammed, you'll have to stand the whole nite on the staircase between retro & hip-hop(I have done that twice :)
Overall the place to be everytime for me..
Great place to spend the night with friends!
i almost made Hawaiian Shack my Adda last month, don't remember how many times i have been there already but it was a lot of times for sure!
The booze is nice and cold and the food is not that bad either! The music is good though yeah it gets repetitive if u go there too often! lol... I personally like monday nights since they play more of house there which really gets me going.
Overall a good place to hang out with your friends and enjoy the music :D..
I was in shack with my friends last month.Intially I thought it is just some medicore bar as we all were new to Shack. The experience was amazing.Danced a lot.Although there is not much space there we enjoyed pop ,rock .I would rate Hawaiian one of the best in the bandra.
Shacks Sucks Now
I agree to most of you that Shacks Rocks.... But blv me thts history now... it used to ROCK.... and was best place for stags to hang out... but now it sucks...
as usual its very crowded and after 11 i think everyone wants to stand on the small staircase to get the best of aircon....
service is going bad to worse... bartenders are dull, weary and no one seems to be enjoying their work... worst thing now it get closed by 12.30am.... Music is no doubt good but the speakers have run out of life now... its not worth paying 800 bucks now on a weekend...
On the 16th Road, in Bandra, is the ever popular Hawaiian Shack. The crowd. the music, the snacks just rock. The drinks suck though... cos they're watered down!!! When I asked the server to get my alcohol and soda separately, she flatly denied, blaming the excessive crowd - huh? Honey, I'm paying 500 bucks a drink, and you'd better make sure I get what I paid for.
Other than that, Shack ROCKS!
Worth it.....and fantastic.....
Been here many times now since the day my mate introduced me to this place..
Well...to start it off...the place has got a gr8 ambience and variation...
the tune of retro music really is delightful with a drink in ur hand....pretty decent space to shake a leg..
the upper deck plays kewl hip-hop music for a change(there are 3 decks..the lower,middle n upper)
the top two are hip- hop n the lower is retro n oldd sound rock.
The prices are pretty decent..
you can get a pint o beer for as much as a 100 bucks n a vodka for 200....the starters n snacks are good too n you'll get served pretty well..
overall.its a funky ol place to settle some leisure n enjoy.
the only downfall is the time the valet parkers take to get our ride back towards the end........that fat guy
Rock & Roll all the way !
I agree with Rudy , the Hawain Shack is one the the best place in Bandra if you want good music, some beer and add to it dancing if you find the place. The food is not bad at all ..they serve Indian and chinese (mostly starters)..The place rocks on a wednesday or Thursday night .. and you can let your hair down & trust me the best part being no one cares if you have your favorite church dress on! The dj plays some awesome music from the 60's and 70' ... perfect place for that boys night out or the usual female get-together.. works for me because its 15 mins away from office ;)
Shuts down at about 1 am , the shack is one place i'd go to when i want to wind down after a long day.
Good watering hole...
Having lived in Bandra for some years, and with the 'Shack' as a standard weekend option I use, here is the review...
Overall, a good place for...lots of drinks - some food - and, maybe, a little leg shaking... scene.
What sets it apart - The Music. A great collection of 60s to 90s music, largley rock (Floyd, Dire Straits, U2 etc. etc.) but with some soft rock and pop, especially early on in the evening. The music also indicates why it is so popular with the 30s crowd - they are all mouthing, and later in the evening shouting the lyrics!!
A bonus - The starters/food, though rather prosaic-sounding on the menu, are pretty good - especially on the non-veg end (and, I have had starters even at the start of my evenings!).
Whats ok - Drinks are decent enough, and so is the price!! However, my advice is to stay away from the exotic (and here that starts with flavoured Absolut!).
Whats not - Gets horribly crowded on the weekends - you have to kill a few toes on the way to the restroom/getting out of the place. And, it has got to be a fire hazard with all that wood & thatch all around.
So, a good place for that evening out with friends - especailly if you are into the rock-scene, and arent looking for too much sophistication.
