Fountain of Plaz-ure !!!
Fountain Plaza was a place that both my father & I liked to visit, during our short but separate tenures in Mumbai, when we missed home food. It was indeed a home away from home for us.
Lunch hours are the busiest and best time to get a table is around 12:30 when the crowd is yet to arrive and the dishes are being freshly prepared.
Fish curry rice, a staple Kerala lunch, is pretty decent, though I've had better. The best part for me was the Fish Fry (ordered separately), especially the Seer FIsh (Surmai Fry). An absolute delight of a dish with perfect seasoning and just fried the right amount, giving it a nice, brown colour and perfect crispness. The Pomfret Fry comes a close second and is also highly recommended. Other recommended items would include Appams/Porotta with Kerala Chicken Fry or Curry.
Service is quick and efficient (maybe coz we were regular and were known to the waiters). It has been a while since I've been here and looks like it has undergone renovation too with new additions to the menu as well.
Verdict : A must try place for lovers of Kerala cuisine. Excellent VFM.
DONT READ! JUST GO FOR IT...

We really enjoyed. Especially the Chicken 65 and Prawns Koliwada. They also have open fast food counter serving Arabic Shawarma, hummus, Tava rolls and baida rotis. Must try ...every 1 will really enjoy.
Value for Money
These days I have moved away from the swank, high - end restaurants and am continuously on the lookout for no pretence, VFM (Value for money) restaurants. HFP is definitely one of the places which tops my list....
I went there with a friend last weekend... since it was a saturday, we managed to get seats immediately... we tried the kerala paratha... chicken roast dry.... fish curry and rice (it was wild rice which was absolutely fabulous with the fish curry).... and fish fry....as if that was not enough, we had half mutton biryani (yes they also serve half plates) .... our total bill was an exorbitant.... Rs 250....
All I can say is that this place is absolutely great.... don't expect to be pampered... but the service was crisp and helpful.... just the way it should be in a VFM restaurant.... Must try place if you are going through the VFM phase like I am!

Eco Grub's VFM choice -- Restaurant Purch Power Parity (RPPP) - Bangda Fry ~ 60)
A lunch home kind of place no airconditioning. Warning you so you know what to expect. No Alcohol.
A Kerala affair. Parothas, string hoppers, appams, and most of the steamed delicacies that one can expect from the South.
Fish curry rice is tops. Must try and Surmai fry the fish biryani and chicken biryani( less oily and perfect spice).
Stews are great too. More of a place where you want to have a tasty lunch with your office buddies with a go dutch shoe string budget.
frankly speaking i was a bit confused before ordering chicken biryani coz all d experiences of biryani before this in mumbai were not that good.
but this one turned out to be the best ive ever had in mumbai so far. correct spices, tender chicken and the best fragrance. u would just go for a kill. it was awesome
n dat all for a mere 45 bucks it was like "sone pe suhaga"
guys i recommend this to every biryani lover nad the ones who dare to eat chicken biryani in mumbai.
go eat ur heart out
The best biryani I've had in a while!!
Was looking for a good Biryani joint around FORT. A friend Recommended this place and we read a few reviews on FOUNTAIN PLAZA. It is amazing, the serving , the quality, the service spot on. It is a must try for everyone in Mumbai. Most of all it is extremely affordable, 45 bucks a plate!!!
Ordered Chicken Biryani and was almost skeptical when the bill was just Rs 45 per plate! It arrived well packaged and included poppadums, pickle, salad and payasam.
What can I say, it turned out to be the best I've had in recent times, and thats saying a lot!
Highly recommended. Glad I'm the first to review this hidden treasure!
