a luxury to be cherished!
Been here a very long time ago, must visit again! When I visited last,it was a very popular place and one of the best in Mumbai and it still is in among mumbai’s most famous places,so I think the quality is still top notch. My hubby loved peanut butter sandwich here, the breakfast here is amazing, everyone must taste French toast, pizzas and penne pasta here too. Breads, pastries everything is perfect. Price is ofcourse on very expensive side but you get the satisfaction of having dined at one of India’s most famous places!
Healthy yet Stylish
The Indigo deli is a frequent visit when i crave for out of the world sandwiches and salads. I love the way they experiment with fusion meals in their Menu for the day....and that always lures me into trying their main courses, despite going with a mindset of eating only salads :) the green apple and mint beverage is a must have!!!!
And if you're lucky you might catch a glimpse of some celebrity too :p
Best of everything
Indigo Deli has the best of everything ranging from sandwiches to desserts. My personal favorites are the mushroom ragout and sloppy joe. I love their madagascar vanilla green tea. When in Indigo i never leave without having their homemade ice cream i love, butter pecan, baileys, duce le caramel.
Perfect place for international cuisine
This place is a must visit if you wish to have perfectly cooked aunthentic international dishes. The ambiance is pepped up with daylight falling in to light up the restaurant in daytime and the lighting too is sufficient inside .Its located in an appropriate peaceful location . The hospitality is good and the service is quick. I loved the interiors and the seating. We had ordered Egg divinity , french toast in the beggining with appetizing peach iced tea. Peach iced tea was very refreshing and the eggs were cooked quintessentially.
The best dish was roast chicken with mashed potato and gravy and the chicken was so suttle and soft that it just melted in th mouth with the gravy. The italian was also luscious with penne witth roasted peppers artichokes & arugula being my favourite. The thin crust sauted onion, spinach and mushroom pizza was also amazing. So if you are looking for a fine dining restaurant with add ons like lip smacking food and relaxing ambiance, this is THE place!
Truly Awesome Place
We have been here for our anniversary, a recommended place in Andheri West. Not just for its really tasty food but for overall experience.
We had the salmon salad, whoopee was it nice!, BBQ roast chicken pizza, they were generous with the BBQ chicken with other toppings, i had seared mushroom and garlic potato sandwich, mouth watering. A superb spaghetti with roast peppers and artichoke and lastly we had three chocolate mousse and banana caramel pie.
All time favorite.
The food here, is extraordinary.
After trying a lot of what's available, nothing seems to make that opinion change.
Also, the staff is quick and helpful.
The ambiance is very casual and easy going.
A great way to spend the afternoon or evening with friends or family.
Everything about this place is extremely nice and comfortable.
But i do think they should re-work the interiors.
It's starting to look a bit old and dull now in comparison to the other branches of Indigo.
Still, a great place to be and will keep going back.
Seeing the good reviews I ventured out to the place since I needed some grub to cheer me up from the post-vacation blues. First thing that strikes you is the terrible overpricing. I get the food must be jaw-dropping good, but at nearly half a grand for eggs, it's a deal meant for suckers or people who make more than they can count! For mere mortals like me, there are places in Pali Hill that can give me equally good food at five times less.
Coming back to the food, I had their paper-thin crust pizza which had a uniquely thin crust which is good but the topping was strictly average. Just good crust doesn't a great pizza make!
Ambience is average and it doesn't give the deli vibe, more like a regular restaurant with not-so-comfy chairs.
Go there if you like to dine with TV soap crowd or don't pay much heed to pricing. I'll skip this one, thank-you.
Indigo, a fine-dining restaurant that combines old-world charm and heavenly delectable. I tried the special that day, a grilled basa.Sangria and a melon cocktail- Amazing! potent! and did wat it was supposed to & mushroom fritters- the best fritters i have ever had. served with sour cream dip this was just top notch. The fish and chips were good though.
Indigo gave me my fav. dish!
I had my first steak here and I have been hooked since them! Indigo has given me my favourite dish! The steak is cooked to perfection and with the steamed garlic and mashed potatoes its just gorgeous! So well, my its quite predictable that I usually only eat steak here. Besides this I have tried the Caesar salad which was quite good and sumptuous. Their Cheese cake is to die for! Lovely chilled out ambiance and good staff will make for a lovely pleasant evening!
My favorite hang out :-) !!!!
Thanks to my friend (Misty) for introducing this place to me :-)..my fav joint!!
Anyway, great place to eat if you love continental food... I have been going to this place since a very long time and have had great experiences... the staff and management are very helpful and at times - if not crowded- are ready to accommodate the changes you want in your dishes... love the pasta and pizza here..very unique..very different..also love the all day English breakfast... drinks are also wonderful.. only issue is that this place is on the expensive side and sometimes when a celebrity walks in, the staff try and concentrate too much on them!! :-)
Please treat them as regular Indian citizen - just like us!! :-)
It gives you the exotic feel of a vintage cafe, my best friend treated me there for lunch on my special day; my birthday...the ambience makes your mood set, the staff is extremely well mannered. We ordered a cheese burger which was average, the panner starter was good, the risotto is a must try there, to end this beautiful meal my friend surprised me with a mud pie with my name neatly done on the plate, it was a sight to watch. This is one cafe around your block you shouldn't miss!!!
Lovely, as always!
The food here is to die for and they always get it right. The crème brulee is going to have the same delicate crack, and the tiger prawns will be cooked just enough to be creamy on your tongue. Divine food undoubtedly. Beautiful interiors, the fresh flowers always make me smile.
Very rude staff we ordered for main-course the fish and chicken was not fresh and mashed potatoes were rotten ,,,,,they are hyped with filmy crowd i never went back again very bad experience and rude staff

Best in Mumbai !!
I have been to the Indigo at Phoenix Mills and this one and I must say this one is way better !! Best part is that you will easily find any movie star here if you go for dinner !! Food at Indigo is awesome, menu is detailed I loved the salad which had salmon and lobsters in it & it made amazing salad dish, veg. Soup & pasta was just ok. We all enjoyed the most is pizza with chicken & cheddar in it which was very thin crust. Best place for a romantic dinner !!

What has happened to my favorite andheri joint?
i ordered for a 3 cheese rissotto.it was pathetic.bad flavours.it was replaced.i ordered for a pesto fusilli pasta coz they didnt have any better options.tasted just like any other pesto fusilli pasta.didnt bother to replace it.i also had orange baileys cappuccino cake...that was probably a below average cake..no flavour of baileys at all..hardly any cappuccino flavour...hate searching for flavours...i have been to indigo deli outlets quite a few times.this was my 1st bad experience..no tiramisu on any day is just sad...they did'nt even apologise me on twitter when i tweeted them my experience :|

Cockroaches from the Seat
Went there on Holi day. The experience was good until we saw cockroach coming from the sofa. What was more surprising was the casual attitude of the staff who behaved as if it was a part of the experience and removed them with a tissue. It ended there, we paid the bill and walked out. Extremely disappointing !

Spoilt my Womens day dinner with my Wife
Heard so many good reviews for Indigo Deli oshiwara that I couldn't resist taking my wife to the place. Was happy that I dint had to travel so far hence opted for Oshiwara Branch. I must say the Service was so Pathetic, the staff dint knew basic things like they need to serve the food . The pizza was lying at my table for 15 min without somebody bothering to serve me in my plate . The manager was courteous to replace the cold thin crust pizaa but had lost all appetite to eat . Beef burger was Good . Chicken wings were average nothing really special which I haven't had any where before . Pasta was good . Was so pissed that I dint tried the Dessert . It would take some one to really convince me to visit that place again.

Thank you so much! We're glad we could live up to your expectations! Our wafer-thin pizzas are unique to Indigo Deli and we're happy to know that you were satisfied with your order. We hope to see you soon!
A relaxing experience
there is food and then there is good food.. Indigo (as I prefer to call it) defines good food to say the least.. Add the dash of perfect ambience, courteous staff and the infinite array of foods.. and what you have is the Indigo experience.. Had heard a lot about their beef burger and tried it today.. Then i wonder why did i wait for so long in my life to taste this divine food.. My wife was extremely content with her potato burger and my 4 yr old was stuffed with their customized grilled chicken.. A bit on the expensive side, but then it perfectly balances the awesome experience that this place gives you.. Will be going there often... A heartfelt thanks to the staff at Indigo for this relaxing experience :-)

Thank you so much for your review! We're so glad you finally chose Indigo Deli and had a great experience too! Warm hospitality, courteous staff and room for customization is what we're known for. We look forward to seeing you again at our restaurant, hopefully very soon!
Even God would have been impressed!
I was craving for a pizza at night and i thought of trying Indigo,i did not regret-not one bit.Their margherita pizza was so delicious -i got lost in my own world while eating that.i even forgot to put the oregano!their dulce de leche ice cream was the best caramel ice cream i have ever had.caramel lovers should not miss this one.
Only thing that really dissapointed me was that there was no ''rocky road'' and ''lemon & basil'' ice cream for which i have to travel all the way to bandra!!!! thats sad! i request the management to please bring back some of their signature ice creams to the menu of indigo deli, andheri.

Thank you for your warm words and recommendations! Unfortunately, we can't offer all our ice-creams at certain outlets, due to operational reasons. However, we do try to include a couple of new ice creams on our daily specials menu, which changes everyday. We're glad you enjoyed your meal and we hope to see you soon!

Do let me know if ''rocky road'' and ''lemon and basil'' ice cream ever comes in the andheri menu. :D

lives upto its name
The only thing negative about this place is the little bit of effort you have to put in to find it. Its tucked away in one of the by lanes. The food and ambience is good. The atmosphere is chilled out. and one can look forward for a relaxing night. Some times the mosquitoes do get out of control but the management tries to take care of it. Desserts are a must try.

Thank you so much for your review! We realise that it's hard to locate our Andheri branch, but hopefully once the road has been fixed, the restaurant will be more accessible. Your feedback has been noted. We hope to see you soon!
Best Beef Burger in Town
I write this to wax eloquence for the never disappointing beef burger that Indigo serves. Their consistency amazes me, the salad that accompanies, the wedges everything on that plate is excellent. Must give it to the superior quality of meat.
Last week as usual the burger was excellent, the pesto pasta on the spot, and the fluffy omelet was a floating piece of cloud, and the eggs florentine was a party in my mouth. Everytime the food at Indigo does not fail. Of course the prices also are steep and the above meal no drinks would set you back by 2000-2500. My only grouse with this place is the service is inconsistent, water to be asked, and getting waiters attention always hard. But the tasty food makes me forget all that.
November 12, 2012response from management at Indigo Delicatessen:
Thank you for all your kind words and praise. Our aim is to offer great food in a warm cozy atmosphere and the best service. Consistency is a trait we take very seriously, and apologies for the times that we've faltered. Thank you for your patience and hope you continue to enjoy the food.
I know everyone has a long list of what they love about Indigo but for me it has to be one of the best Cheesecakes I have ever had. Not to forget their awesome chicken wings and even the pasta. Not to forget their awesome service staff and great interiors :) Wish the road outside was just a little less bumpy! I just love this place so much!
November 12, 2012response from management at Indigo Delicatessen:
Thank you! Be rest assured that we are working as fast and hard as we can to ensure that the BMC sorts out the road condition outside Indigo Deli in Andheri. Till then, happy trekking :)
My favourite place in andheri!!
My all time favourite place. Whenever i am confused and cant think of what to eat i head to indigo to try something new and everytime i go i leave the restaurant with a new favourite dish. This place might be tucked in one of the small lanes of andheri but mind you the food and service is lip smacking. Their sloppy joe burger and the bread basket is amazing. The bread basket comes with really nice herbed butter which compliments the bread superbly. One of the best red wine sangrias in Mumbai. The rissotto and the pizzas are worth their price, The place might be a tad bit expensive but it one of those places where you feel your money is being well spent. This al fresco dining placet gives a very soothing feeling to the otherwise crowded andheri suburb.Kudos to Rahul Akerkar for coming up with something really amazing. :)

Bumpy road leads to great food!!
I have been visiting Indigo cafe since over a year now and I have never been disappointed. Always walked out of this place well fed and a happy diner :)
Out of the cafes/ deli Indigo has in Mumbai..this Andheri one is my favorite!! It has this warm fuzzy feeling to it...the outside section is what I prefer...its well lit and the dark wood decor makes it so comfy.
The servers here are polite and always greet you with a smile. Another good thing is that they are well versed with the menu which is a must!!
The dishes I recommend you try here...
- crsipy chicken burger with cucumber yogurt slaw
- potato corn and jalepeno burger
- the honey mustard(present on all tables) with on the house warm bread
- red wine sangria...the best I've in Mumbai...and beleive me I've had awful ones
- Grilled chicken with red wine jus and "out of the world" mashed potatoes and rasted head of garlic
- dessert souffle of the day
- thin crust pizza with baby spinach and onions
I love this place...and have been going there regularly..I surely would recommend it if you are in Andheri!

Thank you for your kind words and recommendations! It's patrons like you that keep us going! As for the bumpy road outside, we are trying to sort that out at the earliest. Till then, happy eating!

Hi...rite after the day I praise the food and service I took my family to Indigo Deli, Lokhandwala and had a bad experience. We called for the potato corn and jalapeno burger (which I've recommended above and on my blog www.kneadwithlove.wordpress.com) and it didn't tunr oit rite. It wasn't a burger patty, wasn't crisp and tasted just sweet. When we questioned the server about it he didn't agree and said that's how it has always been. The bread was dry and no wedges were served with the burger.I have been a regular here and this kind of behavio
Had heard about this place from a friend, so my husband & I decided to give it a try as we were bored of going to the usual places at Andheri West. It was almost empty, except for a couple of people - must be due to the heavy rains that day. The decor seemed a little gloomy. The service was quite slow. It took them almost an hour to serve our order. The fish and chips were good though. The food is highly overpriced...not worth the value of we had.
Way to go, Indigo
food is awesome. Menu is elaborate. I loved the house salad which had salmon and lobsters (very few though) but it made an amazing salad dish. Veg sp. pasta was ok. What we enjoyed the most is the Pizza with chicken and cheddar. very thin crust grilled veg sandwich. What mattered most was that we enjoyed the food. we'll b back again
SERVICE IS HORRIBLE
the servers do not know how to talk and are not helpful.
i asked for a fillet mignon and asked simply for no extra garnish and was denied in a very rude tone saying "every dish has garnish. we cannot give u the fillet mignon without garnish cause thats our standard meal and we dont change it for anyone."
on top of that my fillet mignon was completely raw and the risotto was over cooked.
After a disastrous meal at the Miro which is in the Svenska hotel right next to this place, we stepped out of the back gate and into the welcoming environs of the Indigo Deli.
The place had all the right buzz. The food was swift, the menu appropriately extensive and definitely a great value meal.
It is also a great place to watch the PYT's on a lazy afternoon
Now, off to try their spot in Bandra!!!!!
Not as expected
Was quite disappointed with the place. We ordered for egg florentine and the roasted chicken pizza and a couple of mocktails.
The eggs were nice but the pizza was really bad.
Though the pizza was for 585, the chicken was stale and undercooked. 2K for dinner which could not be eaten. Not worth it at all.
Simply amazing! - try it to believe
I visited this place on the reco of one of my hubby's colleague on my birthday. Had heard a lot about Indigo cafes but a special occasion like a b'day.. wasn't sure if had enough to offer. The place turned out to be an amazing experience. I have visited couple of Five-star hotel restaurants but let me tell you if one-day an OK ambience of the place will also do and you are going for sheer love for food (we call ourselves connoisseurs of food), then this is the place to be in in Mumbai. We are veggies and every dish we ordered was par excellence. We first ordered for a 1/2 'hot mushroom and spinach soup'. It was served in a flatish round serving bowl and the guy sprinkled some freshly cut black pepper on top of it. Though the soup became bit cold in such a large bowl but the taste was just fab-cant get better. The 'corn crusted burger' and 'pesto pasta' for main course were again amazing! But what I won't be able to forget for the rest of my life is the 'mud cake' for dessert. I am not a dessert person but I am so glad I had this after a lot of convincing by my hubby. IT is truly amazing! the cranberry sauce which they serve with cake and cream etc etc tastes so gooddd ... its heavenly. I think the guys over here know their job! Kudos to the place. I am going to be a regular visitor from now on!
Best Cheesecake in Town.
Went to Cafe Indigo for my birthday luncheon yesterday. Should have told the staff to see if they could do something special! But nevertheless. I had their Panzanella Salad and the Blueberry Cheesecake. The Panzanella Salad was generously loaded with Buffalo Mozzarella and was well dressed with good seasoning. The Cheesecake was the clear winner though. Beyond Awesome. If a cheesecake is this good, I would actually come back and pay 400 bucks for a slice. That good. Service was good enough and it was a slow afternoon but the decor and the ambiance was beautiful. All in all they pretty much made my birthday special even without knowing about it :) I would go back again to try their Signature Sangria and their Sunday Brunch :)
Indigo cafe is one of my most frequented and favoured joints! Their food is great, their service is polite and attentive, they have all day breakfast and the BEST Sangria in the city.
The rains are a dampner on the approach of the cafe but once inside, one can bask in the assurance of good food and wine! A must visit.
Greeted by a cockroach .. ran for our lives !!
Heard a lot about this place, so I thought I should take my girlfriend to this place for dinner. Firstly we were greeted by overflowing drain. Ok accepted its not the fault of the place but the road. The least they could do is keep the valet at a dry area.
The ambiance is a hit or a miss. Some like the minimalism but i believe it was shoddily built. Nothing great there.
Then after getting a seat in a corner inspite the entire dining are being empty, we waited for a good 15 mins to get the menu. The menu has no variety and it was actually very difficult to choose due to lack of options. So again when we were waiting for a good 10-15 mins to place the order, we were greeted by an unexpected visitor. A cockroach on my gf's leg. I read in a review before and decided to ignore it due to so many awesome reviews but I was shocked at such a lack of hygiene.
Since I did not eat here, i dont know what they serve but the prices were surely through the roof for an average place. But one thing you can be sure of .. you will be served by a cockroach before the waiter.
horrible..horrendous...yuck...TWICE .... no THRICE
last time I was there I asked for a VEG pizza ..... and the pizza had a HAIR in it... and I went as my business colleague insisted ..... she ordered a souffle... and guess what there was a cockroach in her souffle...that too at the bottom of the cup... and she had had a similar issue a day before....... 3 weeks before this incident I'd ordered a veg sandwich ... and got a hair in it.... YUCK YUCK YUCK.... DON'T GO to this place... the guys may be courteous (do they have a choice?)..... but the KITCHEN seems to be HORRIBLE..... if you want to visit.. at your own peril... or if you are ok with this crap in your food... OR STAY AWAY.......
SORRY RAHUL AND MALINI AKERKAR.... this one sucks... I'd still prefer the APOLLO BUNDER INDIGO!!
The bumpy road bears much fruit
Among Mumbais many fashion forward restaurants, Indigo stands proud as one of the only truly stylish ones. Let me elaborate. Think of restaurants as women. Most will enamor you with a wonderful exterior, intoxicating perfume, a well staged pout and a very expensive push-up bra. But wake up the morning after, next to this poised princess and you might be shocked by the horrors an early morning reveals. However every once in a while youll find a woman who needs no air brushing and can tickle your pickle while lazing on the couch with an old pair of sweatpants. Indigos charm is much like this woman I speak of; simple, understated, honest and bloody delicious.
To me the visual experience of dining is just as important, so Ill start with the decor. The place is designed to make the best use of natural light in the day, and makes everyone look radiant. The wooden furniture is elegant and simplistic. Three beautiful vintage teapots that adorn the walls caught my fancy; if these are ever stolen, please send the cops straight to my house.
Now coming to the most important aspect of dining, the food itself. To start with; the drinks. Being a dry day, we didnt really get a taste if the bartenders skill. But if the mock-tails were any indication, the drinks will be very good. We started with chicken wings with a blue cheese dip. What first struck me was the generous portion. And thank god for the quantity, because the four of us almost fought for the wings; they were that good. The quarter pound steak was seasoned to perfection and tender as desired. We had the pan fried halibut, another very well rounded dish. The desserts were good, but next time Im sure Ill pass on the desert to squeeze in another one of the entrees.
The journey to Indigo might lead you through a bad potholed road, but like lifes many treasures, the fruit borne at the end is worth every bump.
this place has a limited menu...but evrything on the menu is worth trying...the soup of the days is excellent...attentive staff..yes it is slightly expensive but that shows in the food..the only reason i am removing one star is for the entrance area outside..really messy and uneven road...makes it hard to find and enter the place.
I had been to Indigo café with my friend. The most impressive part is their daily specials . Chefs really work hard on their daily specials. I had tiger prawns with cilantro crushed potato and fennel broth and my friend had fettucini aglio olio with vegetables and pepper spiced chicken. It was fantastic. I being in food industry, I bet, chefs of Indigo café are going to create a revolution in Mumbai food scenario. WELL DONE. Service is great. Servers act quick to the queries. But they need to smile a bit.
this place never disappoints!!
the first time i was there i had been recommended to try the sloppy joe, and being a "joey" of sorts i had to try the sandwiches :) and it did disappoint. It was simply beautiful. The second time there i was asked to try out the beef burger! Now the thing is and i'm sure many of you will agree we hardly find a good place that makes the perfect beef burgers, let alone good burgers. So after much apprehension i thought i'll give it a try and i am a fan. Its was just want i had imaged in my head.. So all you beef lover, head there i say !! The desserts are also a recommend but thats for another day :P
I'll come again!
I took my wife for dinner to Indigo after going through the user reviews and I can't say I'm disappointed. The food, the friendly servers and getting our hands on a corner table rounded up a fantastic experience, one that makes me want to come again soon!
Things we ordered:
Grilled Chicken filet with fries
Sloppy Joe - BBQ chicken sandwich in crusty baguette with home-made fries
Beef Tenderloin burger with home-made fries
Brownie milkshakes (2)
Chocolate molten cake
Cheque: Rupees 2200/- (inclusive of VAT = 300rs)
The food was excellent. Anybody who hasn't gone there yet and is in the mood for typical American food, I can't think of a better place to goto than Inidgo Cafe.
After reading the reviews of Indigo in Colaba and also about Rahul Akerkar.. I always wanted to go there. But travelling all the way from the western suburbs to 'town' as we still call it seemed like a real pain and that too on a Sunday. So after my Dad told me that Indigo Cafe had opened at Oshiwara i was the happiest on earth speacially since after my marriage i shifted exactly two lanes next to it. It is simply gourmet food at its best. I dont really know how the chefs manage to do it but every time i go there my tastebuds find themselves pleasantly surprised. From the Sea Salt Rubbed Grilled Chicken, Polenta Crusted Ravas, Grilled Ravas, Grilled Tiger Prawns, Lamb, Bbq Pork Ribs, Rissotto everything is just awesome. The must try for meat lovers is the entree Seared Pork Sausages with Maple and Mustard. This is an all time favourite with my husband. But for meat lovers who simply dont shy from eating veg is the Mushroon Stuffed with Goat Cheese and Pinenuts. However the best is always left for the end and what more than a sumptous lunch or dinner ending with an even better dessert. For sweet lovers my only advice.... save space in your stomach for dessert. Choose from the wide array of display from Creme Brulee, Molten Chocolate Cake, Blueberry Cheese Cake, Tiramisu, Three Layered Chocolate Mousse, Apple Pie, Mud Pie, Brownie you name it.. they have it. Sinful as it may be called and simply delicious and probably the best way to end a meal. Indigo is expensive but for some who loves to eat good food.... definately a value for your money.
As expected...pretty frickkin good!
We were 4, what we ordered(Entirey veg and exxcuse my short-term memory for lack of names) -
2 x 4 Soup of the day (Something made of Pumpkin, Day Special)
1 portion of garlic bread
1 salad(honey dressing)
1 Risotto(Day Special)
1 Lasagna(Day Special)
1 Chocolate Mud Cake
1 Apple Pie
1 Aqua Mineral Water
Total tab - 2900
Except the Risotto, which was too cheesy for all of us, everything else for fantastic! Service impeccable. Though its a cafe, so some may feel its a bit laid-back which I think is intentional from the staff's point of view. But definitely the staff was very alert and always attentive.
The glasses were a bit smelly and hence 1 star has been reduced.
I am fond of desserts, so try the mud-cake with Vanilla ice-cream, I skipped the ice-cream as I felt it would make the dish more heavy on my stomach!
This place is very frequently visited by "celebrities and socialites"...or if I can say full of them! So crowd is classy and cool!
Though quite expensive, you will be happy to visit this place!
The king of cafe's!!!
Wow. Rahul does it again. Being a huge fan of indigo deli at colaba & Phoenix. This cafe had to be on my visit list last week when I was shopping at lokhandwala market.
The location is not the best one for a place like this but who cares. It's Indigo.
The salad of the day was awesome.
The mushroom & cream risotto was the best I have ever had.
Service is the best in it's class. Simply unmatchable.
Molten lava cake. The deadliest sinner. Melts in the mouth like.....
A bit on the expensive side. But who cares. It's Indigo. Lol.
For the love of all things good..
Yes, it does burn a whole in your coat pocket, but for all things good in the world that makes you feel a bit pampered and loved if but for a few minutes, every bite of everythg you order at Indigo Cafe is, oh-so-worth-it.
Having been there twice, their drinks (non-alcoholic) is passe and loses it appeal but the food, oooh the food is to die for. It's as though the chef knows me (don't sneer and no he doesn't). The plates and bowls are gorgeously dressed, chicken breast pieces laid out, the mash is gorgeous and the fish is delicately palatable.
People don't be a hater, love thy plateful. Viva IC.
Indigo Cafe Rocks!!!
I had been to indigo cafe last week. I tried salad of the day and fish. Fish was looking very fresh, beautifully cooked and tasted awesome.the sauce of the fish was so nice that i had two servings of it.The concept of "salad of the day" gives you the options to try different varieties of the salad every day apart from the sameold salads in the menu. The menu looks strong and promising with the good blend of local and international ingredients.
Good to be back
I have been a regular visitor to Indigo cafe. But due to some reason, could not be here for some time in between. Last week I visited to Indigo cafe after a long gap with my freind and it was a nice surprise for me. the menu had a new fresh feel. I had ordered for tiger prawns for me and my freind ordered for vegeterian suffle. Salsa served with the prawns was awsome. even the suffle was out of the world. I found the fact amzing that the chef was personally going to the table to take guest orders and happy to see the personalised service. happy to be back again.
Need to put up a better show...
Let me start with a disclaimer: I am a big Indigo fan...the aesthetically done interiors, the delightful menu and the warm, attentive service...and spotting a celebrity or two (which the husband loves)..it all works out well to make a great experience.
But this Wednesday evening that we visited the place, we were in for a huge surprise. We got a table without reservation (like we always do), which was great. But from that moment on, nothing else was. We got seated next to a really loud, squeaky, girl and we requested for a table switch like some others did as well. We got one outside which was equally noisy but way more comfortable.
We ordered for mustard and honey chicken tikka and a veggie and roasted garlic pizza, along with a pineapple mint cooler and a beer. The food arrived in time but the beer refused to arrive till the very end of the starters, which was pretty annoying considering we kept reminding the person who served us. There was a table occupied by some television people who we failed to recognize that the staff kept flocking around. When done with the food, we requested for the bill which did not reach our table for 10-12 minutes. We just stood up, walked up to the reservation table and paid.
Overall, not a pleasant experience. The food was, beyond doubt, good but the service levels just did not command a pre-inclusion of service charges in the bill. We have visited Indigo a million times, and this was a first. But if this happened on a Wednesday evening, I don't know what better to expect on a weekend.
lot has already been said about this place......so won't be writin a long review......i just love the food here.
food : 4/5
ambience: 3.5/5 (can get a lil noisy on weekends)
service : 4/5
would highly recommend their cookies which usually take 25 mins once u've placed the order...........they r freshly baked after u've placed the order & r yummylicious :)
i went to this place sum couple of days back on my wifes b'day..the biggest drawback of this place is the address..which is nt easily available..now when i talk about this place is like the crowd was simply superb ....nice n decent cafe with good variety of menu selection...even the desert counter which is at the entrance....i had a veg sandwich with sum roasted vegetables with cheddar cheese in a brown bread....which was very tasty n filling too..the chocolate mousse is sumthing to go for ...bt the only disappointment is the structure of the place..which looks like a underconstruction bldg which is yet to be completed..bt nice outside sitting area..cozy n romantic,,try to get table outside ..for me thumbs up only for the food n crowd ...but not for the inside sitting area.
GOOD FOR NOTHING
FOODIS EXTREAMLY GOOD LIKE THE SERVICE .MENU PRIZES ARE HIKED BUT NOT MUCH.THE MENU HAS NOT CHANGED YET STILL THE OLD MENU WITH REVISED PRICE.A PERFECT PLACE BUT I WAS QUITE HURT THE MANAGER MR BUNTY.THE MANAGEMENT IS VERY POOR,IT REFLECTS ON BUNTY.THE CHEIF IS VERY CHEAP,NEEDS TO WORK ON HIS MOUTH.HIS WORDS ARE MORE BITTER THAN THE ROCKET LEAVES SALAD ,HE IS COMPLETY UN PROFFESNAL .A VERY CHEAP AND CASUAL BEHABIOUR.HE FORGETS THAT HE IS IN HOSPITALITY IND,THANK GOD THE STAFF WAS NOT LIKE HIM OTHERWISE IT WAS A HELL .
Great little place in the suburbs
Frequent this place from time to time. Tucked away among the housing societies, this little cafe has great ambiance, good crowd and great food. Its a lil expensive, but the service and food makes up for it. Tables can be hard to get, so make sure you make your reservations in time. One thing I wished was better, is the road right outside this place, it gets easily flooded when it rains, but I guess that an issue for a lot of roads in this city.

Breakfast is awesome!
My wife and I have been forever searching for good breakfast in this side of town and especially after our Moshe's debacle. I must say, Indigo blew our socks off. Impeccable service, great food options, pancakes and the omlette were done to perfection. And it wasn't actually cheaper than we thought. Plus it was cozy.
We not only give it 2 thumbs up. But heading out there as we speak!
great place for a good experience
we visited indigo cafe on 20th may 2010 for dinner. nice place..the place was expensive but i think it was worth it..i enjoy watching the people around me...we happened to catch Shahid K also....so dinner was nice...The desserts were good..had a lemon cheesecake...but i think it was a tad expensive...we suggest the ice cream.quite creamy...
great food, not so great dessert
I visit this place on a monthly basis. The ambience is quite good. The service was amazing the first time I went there, but then went downhill. Still good, though.
Their pasta is out of this world. I'm a staunch meat-eater, but their vegetarian options are quite fantastic. Their fish is always fresh. Turkey and beef sandwiches are the two that stand out. Pizzas are good, but I'd rather take their sandwiches or pasta.
Nothing to write home about when it comes to desserts, though. I had a souffle that was underwhelming. Their chocolate mousse was inedible, I had to return it. Tiramisu just cut it.
The only thing I wish was if they changed their menu more often, added a larger variety of salads, and a much larger variety of International food.Maybe some food festivals as well. I'd surely never miss any if they had them.
Welcome to the burbs!
3.5 stars, not 3!
Finally, Indigo comes to the suburbs. Rahul Akerkar's much vaunted Indigo launched in Andheri in a new Avtar "Indigo Cafe" in the same place where Vanilla Cafe was earlier.
A lot of people will give this place 4 and 5 stars. I give it 3.5.
Its low because its very expensive, service not great and flies pester you a lot! Here's my review! We went on a weekday afternoon - if you can get past the filthy entrance road (muddy puddles, potholes, etc) - the place has a pleasant ambience. Consists of an al-fresco section and and internal dining place. We settled for inside, as it was afternoon. As soon as you enter, you are greeted by a display section with fresh breads, desserts, etc. Looks yummy so far! We settle down on our table and look at the menu.
Fantastic menu according to me. They start at 9 for breakfast - I'm definitely going to try that out :). But today its lunch time. We ask for 2 soups (they have only 3), 1 gazpacho and 1 melon buttermilk soup. Unfortunately they dont have the melon buttermilk (a fact the server didnt know until 10 mins after they took the order) and they recommended soup of the day (This is after I specifically pointed out that I wanted the cold soups, he offered me a hot soup!!). So we had the gazpacho - which was really good, nice and chilled and flavourful. We ordered the starters - bombay style wings and potato home fries. One smoothie, green apple and mint. Our main course was the fusilli pesto. And then we waited.... waited.... and waited a bit more.... till our waiter came back with the smoothie. The smoothie was divine - don't think you get such a flavour anywhere else. Trust Indigo to innovate.
And then out popped our waiter with LO AND BEHOLD - our main course (before the starter!!!). Confused looks on our faces told him he had done something wrong, and he asked us what sir, this is what you ordered. I said, yes of course - but don't you serve the starters before the main course? Sheepish looks - and immediately another waiter came over to apologise and assurances of paying attention. Till then we had asked for water around 6 times and got it once (Because we asked for regular water and not "Evian" or the "Regular Aava" as they suggested. Didnt go off very well with the la-de-dah staff I guess). Anyhoo, this guy was at least earnest, and kept filling our glasses the minute they were empty after that.
Finally got our starters - and the food is a definite winner. The wings were superb with a very fusiony indian yet international test and a divine blue cheese dip. The home fries - huge and perfectly fried. The main course was ok - fusilli pesto a bit too cheesy for my taste, but my partner liked it. We couldnt finish it all as we wanted dessert.... and then started the waiting game again... this time waiting for a waiter... waiting and waiting... finally the head chef who was outside had pity on us and asked us if he could help (I like that a chef comes out and cares for the patrons).
We settled for the rocky road milkshake. After tons of time, we got a Rocky road ICECREAM!!! Slight irritation on our faces by now - did we deserve all this because we didnt drink EVIAN???? And we asked for the head waiter, who didnt have a clue, so we told him we placed our order with the chef, who finally came and said - my fault my fault. Waited a bit more.... and got the milk shake. Good stuff, although they shouldnt have put the whole thing in a mixer, as the stuff that makes the rocky road "rocky" was all now in powder form :).
The flies liked it too! Thats where it all ended folks. A definite plus on the food, beverages, etc. Service was extremely amateurish for a place like Indigo - don't know why, as they had over 8 waiters when we went there, and maybe 4 groups eating there. And get rid of the flies!!! How can there be flies inside a place like this?? Would I go back? Yes! For the food. And I always give good places 2 chances :)
I like this place. Why? Because every employee is looking to improve. I ordered the Roast Chicken with gravy. While I waited for my order attentive staff kept my glass of water full. When the food came I found the chicken a bit dry which i pionted out to the waiter. Within a minute I had a visit from a senior waiter who went in and talked to the chef. in 5 min. of my complain I had some extra gravy added to my chicken which helped a lot. This is a place you would want to visit. If the food is not up to your mark the staff will make it.
Went to Indigo this monday, around 10 pm and waiting was for 20 mins to get a table.
The decor is nice, not overtly bright, bit on the noisy side but you can have a conversation without problem.
The food was a mix of OK, and very good
OK : Pasta, Chicken wings (too sweet)
Very Good : Burnt garlic Prawns , Salt Coated Grilled Chicken, BBQ Pork Ribs
The cocktail pitchers are really nice.
Service is quick enough and the staff knows what they are doing
Overall a very good place, will surely go back.
Lives up to it's original Avatar !
Tucked away in a small obscure lane off the Lokhandwala Complex Road, Indigo lives up to it's name and how !
Originally, this premises hosted Vanilla Cafe restaurant. Compared to it's Colaba counterpart, this is around one - sixth the size but the fuod is as phenomenal...
They have a varieties of pasta, pizza, sandwiches, quiches, desserts and a good variety of main course items which have been 'customized' - meaning changed a whole lot to make it different and taste much better...Whether it is the grilled chicken & cheese sandwich, grilled fish & mashed potatoes, bombil (bombay duck) starter, stuffed mushroom or risotto, all live up to its name..
Although each item is in the range of Rs. 250/- to Rs. 350/- the helpings are real generous.. In front of us, we saw at least 4 tables being given takeaways of the leftovers..
Overall, the restaurant does tilt towards the expensive side but a same meal for 2 at a seafood speciality restaurant would easily cost much more.. With the dessert and main course, our per head cost was around Rs. 600/-
Minus points - during some days they keep only the outside area (air conditioned of course) operational, while the inside part of the restaurant is closed..
Although the outside area is cosy, they do have some flies inside which quite puts you off as would rather enjoy the food than move away the flies. Also, immediately to the left of the restaurant door, there is a huge garbage dump which sticks out like a sore thumb.
Would like to give full marks to the service and staff who lived up to every expectation and even further customized our meals for us...
Special mention to be made of Bunty Singh Bamra the Assistant Manager who had the patience to painstakingly explain the ingredients for some of the dishes (which we wanted to understand) and also help us decide on the desserts (as there is a huge variety). Best of all is the Chocolate Mudcake which is served with an exotic ice cream flavour (guests are given a wide choice to decide the ice cream flavor).
All in all, a very good experience as far as the food is concerned as it does live up the Indigo brandname.
GOOD LUNCH AT LEISURE
Good ambiance. Sitting arrangement at outside was well lit. Went there for Christmas lunch, so natural light mattered.
Service is slow, but we liked that. We didn't go there for quick lunch, so enjoyed it at leisure. No one chased us out or bothered to place orders.
Christmas specials were very good, we had turkey and liked it. Among regular menu, Sea salt rubbed chicken was good. Cocktails were quite innovative.
It's not a cheap place in terms of price in absolute term, but not expensive considering quality of food and ambiance.
In short, it serves different kind of food. Quality is good, food tastes good.
Good food but way expensive
Been here a couple of times. Though expensive, the food is good, different fare from most other places. Enough has been written on the food in other reviews of this place, so I won't bore you with details. Service is mixed, depends on the day of the week and the mood of the staff I guess, there have been times when the staff is pleasant other times you want to wring somebodys neck. Worth checking out though. Recommended.
What can I add in the 27th review?
What can I add in the 27th review? And especially after aditimittal's eloquent paean to the non-only-gastronomic delights to be found here?
Nothing very much, really. The pitchers of cocktails have already been prised, the BBQ Pork Ribs raved about, the Grilled Ravas sworn by, the Salt Rubbed Grilled Chicken gone into raptures over. Even the Mud Cake has been eulogized several times.
Except that there's something about Indigo that goes beyond the food and the drinks and the cheerful waiters and and the cool decor and the celeberatti. Something that makes you happy from deep inside, and forgive the potholes in the road reaching there (even those have been reviewed earlier!). Something that inspires all the softer feelings, so a visit is highly recommended especially if you are in love and / or wooing.
Which gives me yet another reason to go back there -- very soon!
Right from the first minutes after we entered Indigo Café, we knew we hit the right place. Nice, simple and subtle decoration, very attentive staff and excellent food!
You MUST try the signature dish: Salt rubbed chicken in its red wine sauce. Perfect.
But indulge in whatever dish you like, it will be well executed, well presented, and damn good! One more thing, I am usually not a big fan of dessert and tend to forget to take one in restaurants. But at Indigo Café, you have to try the desserts (Banana & Caramel cake.........).
Their cocktails are also great... but be careful, your wallet may run away from your pocket. However, and with regard to the excellent experience you will have there, I consider this place to be an excellent VFM in its category (that is to say, excellent and generous continental food!).
...I'll be back...!
Made my day
If there is one place I want to be, this is it.
After a long, actually terribly long day of all the possible mess ups, this place can make my day.
I have only been here once, but I can vouch for it...
Tucked somewhere in the corner via a dim lighted outdoor section, this elegant ground floor cafe is a delight for gourmet.
The ambience is to the T, the food...as if its personally made for you...the dessert - heaven!
Theater and film artiste slip in here but you might want to enjoy the restaurant more than that.
The tasting menu is a decadent way to blow the bank.
My order - An appetizer, a pasta, a pizza and a tiramisu which came upto Rs.1331, but all worth it.
Although I wish the pricing could go a little lower...would keep me frequenting it...
Continental cuisine, perfect service, and a neighborhood vibe can make for one of Mumbai's favorite restaurants
Outstanding experience - again & again
This casually chic bistro calls for a visit again and again but definitely after a reservation for it has innumerable loyal customers like us who don't mind even a weekday to enjoy a good dinner. Many may also be coming for the celeb spotting but for the genuine foodie it is best to just concentrate only on the cuilanary delicacies, soak in the ambience for the experience at Indigo is just out of this world.
The juices are always made from fresh fruit which can be made from the aroma felt with each sip. The juicy & tender grilled chicken is just perfect so is the thin crust pizza and the penne pasta. For desserts the Tiramisu & chocolate soufflé and not to forget the sinful mudpie are always an absolute divine pleasure. I have been here many number of times but it has always been for a working (yet enjoyable) lunch or dinner but the next time it will be early morning on an empty stomach to devour the great breakfast.
I have been to this place 3 times now and I only have to say good things about the food here. For example, the last time my Chicken Rubbed with Sea Salt and Grilled with Red Wine Sauce was out of this world !! So were the tiger prawns dish that someone else had ordered - it was a special of the day. Bombay duck was superb as usual and so were the desserts.
Yet the prices are a little too high for someone who enjoys his food. If you can come in, order just an entree and nothing else, it still makes sense. But if you like to try an appetizer, soup and desserts at the end of the meal, it just jumps clear over 1200 per head. Add a bottle of wine to the dinner and you are looking at damages of atleast 1800 per head ! And I am talking about the cheapest wine on their menu - Chateau Indage's Tiger Hill Cabernet Sauvignon which is 1600 before taxes.
And yeah, it gets too noisy for such a pricey place.
So keep that in mind when you make plans to visit this place. Weekends have a long waiting line, so dont go without reservations. And I was surprised to find people waiting outside even on a Wednesday evening - the place was packed inside. Maybe people dont care about the prices as much as I do ... :)
On the 8th day, God went to Brunch at Indigo cafe
And God said, let there be mushrooms, and there was mushroom cappuccino with truffle oil, He said, let there be fish, and there was baby rawas , He said let there be lamb and there was lamb shank and last of all, He said "Ay Ganpat, chal daaru la" and there was pitcher of white wine sangria.
Tucked into a lane Off Link Road in Andheri, Oshiwara, Indigo was located at the end of very bumpy lane, not the kind of place you would expect for a place like it to be. The valet found a place for our car to park, and even though we had no reservations, the host smiled and found a place for our asses to park in very little time. The decor concept of Indigo Cafe is deceptively simple; divided into two sections by glass panes. We sat in what could be construed as the outdoor section, even though it was air conditioned and sunlight was streaming in through the opaque ceilings. The menu selection is diverse and American, like a New York bistro that I'm quiet sure would be packed on a Sunday afternoon, much like Indigo Cafe was.
And to add a disclaimer here- I have been a waitress before. I know what an absolute shit job it can be, but it can also be a lot of fun, when you actively make yourself a part of the experience for the diner. I've connected with people who I've served and met some very interesting ones. At the prices we pay for dining out these days, food alone does not a a good restaurant make. The attitude in India towards wait staff is quite sad, where they can be perceived simply as people who carry the food back and forth the kitchen, as opposed to representatives of the restaurant or brand. They are the ones who are directly in contact with the point of sale and I think our service industry at large needs to wake up to that.
Having said that, Cafe Indigo was definitely more than a cut above the rest. Our server was polite, friendly, laughed at dad's jokes like he genuinely enjoyed them and pretty much had us sold on anything that he said. One glass of Sangria, at his suggestion, turned into a pitcher. The wine was sweet though I was marginally disappointed to see only apples and pears in what is supposed to be an assorted fruit drink. (And even this, I mention, because the rest of the experience had me spouting superlatives, the good kind, so I don't want to seem biased.) Dad's baby rawas that was on the 1 year anniversary menu, was delectable and Azra's lamb shank meat fell off the bone and melted in your mouth before you had a chance to start chewing. My mushroom cappuccino was what God had in mind when he first bestowed upon the earth, the holy gift of edible fungi.
We got talked into Molten Lava dessert. (Disclaimer time once again: I hate Molten anything. It's just a bunch of chocolate cake, with chocolate sauce, and chocolate sprinkled on it, topped with chocolate shavings and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. It's pedestrian and unimaginative not to mention a whole lot of calories for two of the most common flavors in the dessert world.) Of course, Cafe Indigo, proved my fears unfounded. Chocolate whipped into a frenzy carefully placed in layers in a tiny square with a snowy dusting of powered sugar and the mandatory scoop of vanilla ice cream blew my mind. It was light, unique and sinful, a perfect ending to a perfect meal.
Two entrees, one soup, one side, a pitcher of Sangria and a dessert put us back by Rs.3000. Not the cheapest brunch excursion, but one worth every single rupee.
As we walked out to get into the car that the valet promptly retrieved for us, I knew we would be back soon. What a treat this was!
And so on the 8th day, He called up a bunch of friends, and God went to brunch at Indigo Cafe. And that, my friends, is the word of the Lord.
Great Place & Food but Arrogant/Unreasonable Staff
This is a perfect example of how staff can ruin a great place with great food & completely spoil your experience.
The staff there completely disappoints. Arrogant & Unreasonable, they completely put me off the last time I was there. The place was empty & they had shut down half of their seating. We were 5 of us & were asked to share a smaller table. When asked for a bigger table, they completely refused saying that this is what we have (when we could see so many tables aorund). The reason they gave me was lame too, "We want to keep the tables for other visitors". The entire place was empty & they had enough tables to make arrangements for atleast 15-16 other people.
I don't understand the logic of not serving people who are already there & waiting for someone who might come or not come. Extremely unprofessional & inhospitable. We decided to leave & asked them to keep the tables for people who might want to walk-in later.
Its a super expensive place. Why would u want to compromise when your paying your ass off.
Try at your own risk. maybe you'll have better luck
I had heard soo much about this place that I was really excited to go here finally.
Ambience: Definately not the place to go for a quiet romantic dinner. The decibel level of this place is very high or maybe it was just me but it seemed that everyone was talking on top of their voices. Otherwise its nicely done up like a bistro but nothing extraordinary.
Food: I was extremely disappointed with the items they had for veg. There was nothing that I could see that I really wanted to eat. Ordered garlic bread, mushroom with goat cheese and a pizza. The garlic bread was average, the mushrooms were very well presented with a stuffing of goat cheese and pine nuts. Liked it since I love goat cheese. The thin crust pizza was decent but a bit toooo thin and crunchy for my taste.
Ordered the mud cake for dessert. There was oodles of chocolate and rasberry or strawberry sauce which I don't like. Forgot to tell them to lay off it. Otherwise it was nice but not extraordinary.
Damages: Rs 1000 for 2 starters, pizza, dessert and bottle of water.
I was pretty disappointed given what Id heard about the place. You can skip the place unless you want to see celebs because youll always spot atleast a TV star.
Good ambiance, okay food
The ambiance is really good - a chic french bistro of sorts. Loved the modern all wooden look. The service is excellent - they are well-versed with the menu and quick with suggestions. The food was not as good as the hype made out to be. Visit this place and you are sure to find at least one celebrity dining here. Not a place for your family dinner though - not a kind of patrons who would smile at your kid making a racket. Save some space for their scrumptious desserts.
First real ecclectic restaurant that I have come across in India. An excellent menu section with Indigo's unique recipe/style of preparing meals. Equal to the food was the service.
To start we had Mushroom's stuffed with goat cheese and pine nuts. The combination made a mouth watering entry to the other dishes to come. Along with the shrooms we enjoyed their fusion style Chicken Tikka and probably the best brick oven pizza that you can find. The Pizza I would say was better then any pizza I have devoured in the US over the last 40 years. The pizza was made of smoked cheese and had a dribble of barbeque sauce which made an enjoyable combination. Our main course which had one dish better then the other included chicken with mash potatoes, mushroom rissoto, Calamari, and Penne with tomato sauce. Our dinner ended with mud pie with homemade oreo ice-cream(cookies/cream) which disappeared off the plate regardless of the hardy meal that we had.
I recommend this restaurant to anyone who is tired of eating the "SAME OLD THING" and is ready to remember a good meal. I would also ad that the manager, who I asked for information was prompt to call me the next day for which I felt serviced even after leaving the restaurant. 5 stars goes to the Indigo cafe in Andheri (W)
Can't stay away!
We keep trying to find somewhere different to eat - but nothing compares to INDIGO CAFE - first went there after reading the reviews here for Christmas lunch - and have been a convert ever since.
Ambience - fabulous - warm and casual, yet intimate.
The service is ALWAYS exceptional - unobtrusive, yet VERY attentive.
The FOOD - well that's the main reason, let's just say we don't bother using the menus anymore we know what's on it. Be it Breakfast , lunch or dinner, we have never been disappointed. It has been spot on EVERY TIME!
...... Don't start me on the desserts! (to die for!)
They have earned every single star - I'd give them additional for consistency if I could.
PS - BEST steak in Mumbai
Overpriced good looking food
The place looks good and from a small cafe in 2006 it has grown to be an upmarket nicely done up place. You would love the ambience. The menu is moderately heavy on pocket. The food is good to look at and the sandwiches taste good.
Overall practically speaking, i would rather go to a five star cafe if i have to spend this much. However still its worth a visit to flag it on your list.
kareen and saif were here
After reading about it in newspapers and burrp reviews I had made some different imagination about this place but when I visited this place I was not that happy. First off all it is not at all in oshiwara its not in lokhandwala also. Its in next lane of sub tv at the end of the road you will find indigo.
In beers they have only 3 options kingfisher, carona, hakinen. In chicken staters they had only 2 options. Chicken tikka grilled with something and cooked with something and chicken wings. Actually we were not there for dinner. Just few drinks so may be it was not a place for us . They may have good main course I guess.
Well the best part is I spotted kareena kapoor and saif ail khan having dinner their. That made me more than happy and full paisa vasool feeling. ;) next time I will go for dinner and then check what all they have.
Not worth the Hype
I had dinner last night at Indigo Cafe in Andheri. Given that it took me almost an hour and a half to get there from Bandra, I was thoroughly looking forward to the culinary experience. However, it was not quite so. The ambiance is lovely, but given it's a Saturday evening, I was a little surprised that the place wasn't packed. The real problem for me at Indigo is the service, its awful! Waiters don't write down the offers, then bring the wrong things. They are just not attentive, but then again, they are completely untrained! You are never asked how your meal is, and while you are engrossed in a conversation and the meal is almost finished, but not quite done, pooooffff....it's gone. Our untimely waiter decided that he was in a hurry and removed my plate without asking me. I find that completely against the idea of a fine dining experience. The food is so so, not worth the hype. The meat was overcooked, the salad didn't taste fresh, and given all that I have heard about this amazing restaurant in Andheri, not at all quite so. Actually, quite disappointing, and not worth a repeat visit. I was really hoping for a wonderful meal.
Good Food But overpriced
This Place is very good in terms of ambiance, service. Pizzas are really very thin , they are good but are overpriced at around Rs.400.There is nothing extra ordinary about them so such high price is not called for.Ordered Cheese Fondue which was around Rs.250 and yes it was good but not even close to what one gets at Moshe's. For Egg lovers its a treat variety of items at around Rs.150. Mocktails are very good priced reasonably around Rs.145 and quantity is pretty large. Mock tails are must try. Deserts ordered was chocolate mud cake and Belgian chocolate truffle ice cream and again both were pretty ordinary and were steeply priced like Rs.125 for single piece cake and Rs.85 for small scoop.Overall this place is very good in terms of variety of food and drinks offered and the taste is also good but the only let down is over priced which it does not deserve.
Rare 5 Star Rating
I can only say that you need to go to this place if you haven't.
It isn't cheap obviously, but what you pay for is far inferior to the quality of the service, and the food.
There isn't one thing that I can insist you try, instead I would suggest that you visit this place regularly, budget allowing, and slowly go through everything they have on their menu.
I would be very surprised if you come out disliking anything.
I simply love this place!
Not worth the price!
Found the place with no trouble last Sunday. Weird location though.
The outdoor section gets a lot of natural light and is well laid out whereas the indoor section is like any other restaurant.
Brief and quick review of our order:
1. Indigo Mary - Bloody Mary with tamarind - Interesting though I would only recommend it for Bloody Mary lovers.
2. Orange Ice Tea - Avoid at all costs, tastes and looks more like some black currant concoction.
3. Garlic Bread - Standard
4. Mushroom Ragout Sandwich - Not worth the 350+ they are charging for this. Also they need to pick up a basic lesson from Subway and not cut the bread right through which makes eating their sandwiches amazingly messy.
5. Pizza with Mozzarella & Pesto topping - I know we all like thin crust but this takes thin to a new undesirable level. Its like some sort of papad with pesto and mozarella slapped on! Not worth the close to 400 bucks they are charing for this at all!
6. Chocolate Mud Pie - Decent but nowhere as good as several other places.
All in all I would rate this a 2 stars out of 5. If you live around Bandra, its a much wiser decision to go to a Basilico or even a Pot Pourri instead which offer better food, better presentation and much better prices. Indigo needs to move beyond the hype and name and start serving food to match their prices if they want people to come back for seconds.
