Had a blast at Indus with friends last night. A small yet adequately placed joint with a mixture of Lounge n a Diner was nothing else but an unexpectedly cool joint for a friends get togather in South Mumbai.
Their warm n wonderful service topped with tasty food n mix of drinks left us mesmerized.
Only point I may want to bring to the notice of management was the syper chilling AC which could have been lowered a bit so that those who are not drinking Alcohol can also enjoy.
What I liked the most was Golati Kebabs which were easily melting in the mouth.
Want to listen to dhinkchak dhinchak bollywood music ? Head to Indus - probably one of the only south bombay pubs/ bars which plays this kind of music. The alcohol is aplenty and so is unfortunately, some oldie crowd. If you don't mind that then this place is a must visit. The typical mughlai/ punjabi cuisine fare has a range of kebabs, snacks and a buffet spread!
VFM place for the yummy food!!!!!!
have been quite a lot to indus with my friends for drinks and music on the weekends. Always liked the place so this time i thought of giving it a shot for sunday lunch. The place was empty on a sunday but since we were a group of 10 odd ppl we made enough noise and had a blast.
The food here is the star of the show.
1) Chicken chandini kebab was very nice with cheese stuffed inside.
2) Chicken Galoti kebab was also very innovative with it being served on a sugarcane stick. it was minced chicken which was grilled well.
3) Paneer malai tikka was run of the mill. All paneer lovers will be loving this one.
4) Chatpate stuffed aloo was another killer appetizer that shall surely be loved by one and all.
we ordered a few more appetizers but what took us by surprise was that with each appetizer they serve yumm dal makhani and parathas. They made an awesome combination to have with the starters. it's a meal in itself. maybe they serve this to cater to the foreigners who maybe dropping in for meals here since it's bang in the middle of colaba and next to Taj.
we were so stuffed with the apetizers that we just had the chicken and veg biryanis which again had awesome flavours.
our bill was like 500-550 per head including soft beverages.
Thus this place is a must visit for the all for the yummy food!!!!!!
Great Food & Ambience
very nice place by Hotel Diplomat. been there few times.
Food is awesome. you order some starters accompanied by naan & yummy black dal and all you need is another repeat of the naan and dal.
Alcohol is not easy on the pocket. but on a fri to sun if u get a place near or opp the bar then thats the place to be.
Great Food, Great Atmosphere
I love this place and have been here many many times. The palce is divided into two section downstairs and upstairs, upstairs is rather quiet as compared to down stairs. Recenetly I reached there at around 9 PM with a friend and sat by the bar and order a pitcher of beer (Rs 675) for 5 glasses and order a couple of starters the aloo achari (Rs 220) and the paneer tikka (rs 250), both the starters were amazing and came with tandoori roti and dal makhani. The starters go really well with beer and a complete value for money. They have a projector playing either cricket or music videos. After 11 o'clock the place transforms its self into a full fledged. club with bollywood tracks playing all around. A great pace to chill unwind on a weekend!
easy on the starters
Dropped in last Saturday night, a bit early so we actually got a table.. was a bit peckish so ordered three starters - the chk tikkas, a tandoori chicken 'something' stuffed with cheese and a basket of fries.. the food came by and was more than ample for 4 heads.. in fact, it all went very well with the beer... the rotis and daal makhani served with the tandoori starters were absolutely awesome.. must have..
Heard good things about this place, so decided to give it a go.. arrived at 8.30pm ish Sat night .. place was a little empty, thought oh no.. but we stayed.. managed to book a table.. all the remarks about the food are bang on.. you could just have a load of starters.. but we went for a starter + main.. and I have to say it was fab.. and being a brit the food + beer was a good price.. during the time we spent eating the place became packed.. bouncing with good music and lovely friendly people... we were the only Europeans there, but never felt uneasy.. Its a place i would be very happy to go back to.. James, Sheffield, UK
Went to indus on a friday night, my friend suggested this place as i was a bit hungry......went upstairs n called for a couple of whiskeys and three starters.....one veg and two non veg (kebab items), both food and drinks are very reasonably priced.......the dj was spinning sum cool, funky retro beats...........in a few minutes drinks arrived..along with complimentary stuff like carrot n cucumber n peanuts...waited for sum more time the appetizers arrived....OMG the portions were soo generous we cudnt finish half the stuff....all in all a good place to tank up before a big night., had to leave early to go to shiros ....frm wat i have heard it gets pretty crowded dwnstairs....saturdays being full on bollywood music if dats wat u like....the ambience and lighting could do better.
Food's mind-blowing. Well priced and generous portions.
They service roti and dal-makhni with every appetizer which really is a very very very very good thing because their dal rocks!
Liquour is well served, Beer is Chilled to toe.
Music is awesome - they play the 90's classics remixed which really makes up my day (or night, or day!).
All in all, a place for good times.
The coolest cocktails!
Indus has some really amazing cocktails and mocktails! The starters were good too esp the stuffed potatoes and the achaari aloo with makai...Music is good enough to sit and enjoy time with friends but definitely not rocking enough for one to hit the dance floor!( they have a special area for groups). The reasonable prices of both, the food and drinks further add to the coolness of the place. Way to go, Indus!
Overall Experience: 5
Had been suggested this place by a frnd..somehow couldn make it for a long time..
one sunday we were searching for a place to go n suddenly Indus cropped up in my mind n we decided to visit d place..
d place was over crowded as is expected on sundays..however to our luck we had booked the table before hand..
d place is too good..the ambiance is amazing..d music rocks n the food was cheery n the top..
never had I thought that tis place wld be so super..
n d food wasn't at all overly priced considering the kind of place it is n the atmosphere it creates..
as soon as we finished d dinner d first thing i did was to call d frnd n thanked her for suggesting such an awesome place..
since then I have visited there thrice n planning to visit many more times..thumbs up for the joint..it was truly a rocking and an amazing experience..Indus rocks..!!
Indua is a cool joint to hangout at..The ambience is nice & so is the food ..Esp the complimentary daal makhani n parathas with the paneer platter ! The inhouse DJ rocks n plays stunnin Eng n bolly numbers..B the best part its reasonably priced to compared to other joints in this area!! Surely worth a second visit !!
Sucks...Blatant discrimination towards Indians!
Not a bad place as such but be prepared for a racial dsicrimination..or rather d obsession with fair skin... i went on a weekday with 4 frenz... and was told dat there is no entr wid open footwear... perfectly accpetable since some places do maintain a dress code n all... bt only to realize later that there were several foreigners on the floor with chappals!!!
highly disappointed to see such a bias at an otherwise decent place... a restaurant is never just about the food but rather the experience... will neva recommend...
Visited this place couple of years back AND falled in love with this place as the place is just fantablous in weekends, excellent food with exotic cocktails and the best part in house DJ paying some chillout music after 10 pm, last not the least the staff is very well mannered, effecient and quick in service. Capt. Gautam attended us with lot of warmth and affection and guided us to table with a pleasant smile...well priced menu with parking facility..the place rocks ....plan to visit soon...early 2010.
well had been here to celebrate one of my friends b'day...reached the place by 10...it was quite empty...but soon during the later hours...it was packed with loads of ppl .....The music is good...with a mix of house as well as bolly nos..excellent mouth watering kababs wer served...bt as the name suggests u will only b served with indian cuisine,,,which by the way, like the place ROCKS!!!
Smallish Pub - Good Service
We got a good seat next to the bar on a Friday night and the place wasnt too packed and the music was decent enough - although i have heard about this place being visited by 'shady characters', one of which was right next to us - we just ignored him and moved ahead with our order.
A mojito and a voda. Both were done well and were promptly served. We orderd for a veg platter to munch on which arrived in 15-20 mins. It was quite a large portion of food consisting - 2 paneer appetizers, mushroom tikka and some seekh kabab which was the worst of the lot. Also the platter had a roti and a small bowl of black dal which was abs heavenly.
Total damage for 2 drinks and the wholesome appetizer was 900/- and while we were leaving the music was just getting better..i wish i could have hung around! All in all, not a bad place to be, food was decent & the service was v good..even though its a smallish place it wasnt too crowded which i liked..would def visit again.
One of the most fun joints in South Bombay
What can I say, I'm a huge fan, so this review may sound a bit biased. This is the place to go to when you want to unwind, listen to good hindi music, eat some excellent Indian food and drink a lot, all without breaking the bank.
We normally order a lot of appetizers with our drink, and I honestly rate the Indian food here, second only to Copper Chimney Worli, which is as big a compliment as any restaurant, let alone bar, can get. Outstanding are the Stuffed Tandoori Aloo, Fish Tikka, Non Veg platter. All dishes come with Black dal and paratha's -which are excellent as well.
The decor is simple, but the beauty of the place lies in it's simplicity. The crowd comes alive around 11pm which is when the Hindi music starts. On weekends, the place is packed and thankfully there is no cover or entry fee. They have a room upstairs as well that they normally rent out for private parties but is open to the public otherwise.
When it's crowded, it takes a while to get a waiters attention, so get ready to wait for food. Simpler at times to walk over to the bar and just get your drink.
All in all a great place to hang out, with excellent food, good drinks reasonably priced. A typical drink is around 250 for a large and non veg appetizer around the same.
I went with a friend of mine and his cousin who suggested this place, i thought it might be another high priced restaurant n bar
No wonder it ws steeply priced ( according to normal indian standards) but the food was awesome,
She said that we will order 2 starters as there are 8 pieces in them that we can eat and then we will order a Biryani
So we agreed , but when the Starter came, Each of the eight pieces were so big we were not able to eat the whole meal... and the Quality of food was very good
Coming to the ambience , it gives a very formal feel and still there is an air about it where in u can have a casual lunch...with ur friends
We had the Zhinga Murg, Chicken Chandni Kebab and Chicken Biryani and they were AMAZING!!
To find this place take a turn in the allet b4 cafe leopold and then a right
Be there for the food and the ambience
the music is very nice.. a mix of bollywood (both current n retro mixes) and some house... and the volume gets louder and loudest by midnight. But me n my frds have got our share of good times dancing here!
but it gets very conjusted on sat nights, by 11.30 pm you will hardly find space to even stand forget dancing!
this is a place for a group night out, not a couply place, unless u like 100 pple around u when u r on a date!
the indian food here is really good.. definitely try the chandani kebabs. they r mouth-watering! and the long island ice tea is well-made too!
For those who love music, this place rocks to the music palyed by their in-house DJ. Unique thing about this place is that it has wide variety of drinks to offer, Good food (specially North Indian), well mannered staff, Cosy atmosphere makes it the best place to get relaxed. Be sure to be there by 9.30 - 10.00 and you can enjoy till 1.30. You won't feel like leaving the place. Take my word on that.
Good place for a drink
You see a lot of people coming here for an after work drink.
One very unique thing to this place is that the serve roti and dal with all the starters and main course. The veg dishes are priced around Rs 160 - 250. The paneer tikka was quite good.
They serve a really mean green apple martini. Service was quick.
We may have gone with barely any expectations, but Indus far exceeded them.. We have just found the perfect hole in the wall for drinks after work on Friday.
After a long discussion and looking at at least 20 places on burrp! we decided to head to Mondy's for drinks on Friday night after work. As usual, Mondy's was packed and we agreed that something quieter might be better. I've been to Indus a long time ago and vaguely remembered it to be decent. So we walked past bade miya and bagdadhi and walked around the block to Hotel Diplomats, Indus. Its divided in two sections, one upstairs and another one downstairs. We got there at about 7 and were the only patrons till 10ish. It might seem dingy at first but is in fact really cozy and comfortable.
We ordered, a round of drinks, a cheesy potato starter and a paneer starter. Surprisingly, our starters came with tiny pieces of roti and a small bowl of delicious daal makhani. We liked the daal so much that we ended up ordering a portion of dal just to eat with some roti. :) We ordered another round of drinks and starters as well, reshmi chicken kabab and another paneer one. Simply fantastic.
At about 10, when we were finishing up our last bits of daal, roti and kebabs a few people started trickling in. Cool bunch of people - there to have some good conversation with buddies over drinks and some excellent food... just like us.
