Finally, a reasonably priced seafood place I love!
4 is an uncommon rating from me. This place makes good food. I've never eaten in this 'restaurant'. Only ordered out. So my rating is purely about the food.
What have I ordered from here? Pomfret hirwa masala (very good!), prawn hirwa masala/surmai gassi/prawns koliwada (good-very good), friend bombil (ordinary, oily and I could tasty somewhat raw besan from the batter)
The gravies are especially tasty. I like their gassi but I LOVE the hirwa masala (coriander, coconut milk, amsul based) so much I could drink it. If you're not into those kind of excesses, then just soak up the goodness with neer dosa or a buttery paav. Now if they could only make rawas in the hirwa masala!
The bad? They take 1-1.5 hrs to deliver beyond Shivaji Park. So figure that into your plan.
The portion sizes aren't huge but very reasonable for the price. Two mains and a few neer dosas are two meals for me.
So, if you live close to one of the three branches, just order in.
I had visited this place last week, for the first time & i loved the seafood there! it is truly a place you should visit if u want to eat fish that is cooked just like it is at home! the sea food is fresh & cooked in masala, in such a way that it does not mask the taste of the fish.It lets you savor the spices and the fish!! The chicken dishes r also good! But me being a seafood lover, did not eat much of the chicken..
I would recommend the Prawns thali & bombil fry..
Will surely love to visit this place again!!
This is a much frequented place for us - even before the renovation.
Must try things - Tandoori fish, Rice Bhakari and Butter Chicken. The food is as close to heaven.
The only regret - after the renovation the prices have moved inversely with the quantity. But still it's much worth option than the newer fine dining branch @ Lower Parel.
At Jaihind, had just two items - Surmai Fry and Goan Prawns Curry. The fish was fresh. The Surmai Fry was tasty, the most important thing it wasn't overloaded with masala. The Prawn curry was a let down. It had too much of chilly powder and lacked the tangy twist of a Goan Prawn Curry. On the whole, Jaihind Lunch Home is surely worth a try.
