A meet at Lagerbay has always proved lucky for me

I still remember the first time I went to Lagerbay. There was something holistic about the ambience, loads of positive energy and a soothing feeling crept into my psyche.

I was having my meet with a Model Manager from New York, who wanted to meet me to decide if I could join his model team in NY. The aroma that swept my way was so tempting, I was almost tempted to cheat on my diet. The meeting was a success. We ordered food, which was truly divine. The drinks were just the right blend. The service was prompt and pleasant.

back from New York, I ventured back to my favourite eating spot and guess what – I got lucky with not one but 3 exclusive campaigns. Somehow, LAGERBAY has been truly lucky for me, my meetings click and I keep moving on. Like they say, some restaurants have the perfect Feng Shui (I do believe in all this). Now I make it a point to be there at least once a week for all my meets.

Of course, the cuisine is just so perfect, so are the drinks.
LAGERBAY, thanks for all the good luck you have bestowed on me.

diminishing

the only prob here is , they dot have happy hours on ladies night and the happy hours is only on domestic. plus we went on ladies night, my girl friends ordered their free drinks lit, trust me it was barely 5ml strong with half coke and water in it. the quality and staff is diminishing here. the flair this place had before has gone for a toss. its losing its posh crowd also.

i am coming back

There are lots of things calling me back to Lager bay! The lovely ambiance, the bar and refreshing drinks, the garage sales, the prompt staff and the beers of course! But the biggest reason for me to go back would be the Pan seared basa - So delicious and the sauce so yummy. Just so perfect!

Happening

I recently visited, it is ver recommended to go...went after lunch, had jalapeño poppers, wedges and pink pasta, they were delicious. Love the quirky ambience, music and layout. Happening crowd. A lot of cheese in the food. Yummmm

Great food!

Just went here last night with friends for an Improv show. Must say, the food here is really good, crowded even on a Thursday night! Although I'd like to point out that the management is cheeky. The ladies room was bustling with girls in there and the management (read, a guy) comes in without even announcing and goes out with a smug face! I thought he was looking for the men's room.
In spite of that, I'm willing to visit again for the noodles!

girls Night out on Tuesday

I had always heard of Lagerbay and the lovely Ambiance .The Tuesday temptation of free cocktails for girls was exciting ,As my treat was pending I called and booked a table .We had a theme of Black N Silver . four of us reached and we were escorted to our table. crowd was young and very classy
ambiance was dim ,yet lit in special places like Bar and reception
WE were given our free cocktail coupons , the Mojito and Sangria was a favourite of the girls
we ordered Fries and onion rings ,chicken wings for starters ,.these prices were not so steep
Music was very lively and peppy .the Food menu was abit steeply priced and had a limited choice
When we ordered Steak ,penne ,mushroom rissoto ,it came to our table .the waiter never served it in our plates ,and we foung the portions very small
The washroon was way too inside
yet overall a very happy experience and will definately go again

Disappointing

I have been here several times... mostly on tuesdays (ladies night)... the last 2 times i visited this place for the ladies night, the experience was extremely crappy... the size of the glass they serve the ladies free drinks is now half the size it used to be 6 months ago... i had the LIT 2 days ago and the drink tasted like as though the bartender forgot to add alcohol to the drink... same for the cosmo... infact the drinks are not even served to the brim... only 60% of the glass is filled with alcohol... Its time to step back up Lagerbay!

I think the title said it all!!
Had a long time wish to see what the iconic zenzi had been turned into. Our boss was treating us and thought lagerbay would be a great option (as anyways bills are not going to pinch our pockets) :D
Firstly noticed that they dont have a fancy board outside and it is just some temporary banner printed and hung up.. The interiors have a reggae look with Bob Marley's poster and a collage of other artists..once you go further in, a well stock bar catches your eye. You can sit on their iconic couch with union jack cushions only if you assure for a bill worth minimum 12000..this was a big let down.. Despite talking to reservation guy and requesting him to give us the couch for 9 people, they did not pay any heed..ultimately we ended up sitting on the tables, which weren't bad either. I still feel they could have given us the couch, as we ended up paying the bill for almost 11 K..
Now the bar list has quite a few of regular cocktails, but the unusual ones were the wine cocktails list. seemed to be really good.. We stuck to regulars of beer, cosmo, apple martini, and absolute flavors. One of my friend ordered Kiwi Daiquiri and for me it just pinched my tongue..
FOOD - excellent preparation and presentation .. Prawns and Calamari Ajilo is something that everyone should try.. succulent chicken wings, crunchy beer battered prawns, minimally dressed caesar salad, tasty bruschetta.. But the star of the night was - FETTUCCINI PAPRIKA CREAM SAUSE - excellent consistency, awesome taste, must have in lagerbay
we ended our meal with Tiramisu, which exuded the after taste of coffee and was simply delicious..
Moral of the story - Great place to eat, drink and listen to some good music..but do not think of sitting on that iconic union jack couch, unless you are ready to shell 12 K

Surprisingly Exceptional!

Thanks to Burrp! that I got to try this place out and I must admit that I was a bit skeptical at first to visit Lagerbay. However, my opinion changed gradually as me and my friend experienced it.

Since I had a Lunch voucher, we went there yesterday and considering it was a Monday, there was noone except us for lunch; Which turned out to be quite good for us. The ambiance is absolutely inviting. The interiors are done very smartly keeping everything simple yet appealing. They have 3 types of seating arrangements like the usual table and chairs, bar stools at the bar and tables which have a raised height alongwith tall comfotable stools near the french windows and we chose that! The lighting is also perfect; not very dim and not very bright either.

Food here is simply delectable! We started with the veg broth soup which was yummy and then went on to have jalapeno cheese poppers, pasta in spinach cream sauce, lemon iced tea and gooey chocolate cake. Each and every item that we tasted was totally delicious and presented very well.

The staff seemed good and attentive. Especially our attendant Clarence (That's what his name is , I think). He didn't know everything we asked but he had the knack to make us wait while he confirms in a way that doesn't get us irritated. However, he did happen to goof up on our bill. Inspite of having shown the burrp voucher we were initially charged for the lunch pack as well as the other extra stuff we took apart from what covered the voucher. After an explanation though, they quickly redid the bill, charging us only the extra dishes that we ordered separately.

So all's well that end's well and considering other good things I wouldn't want to keep a grudge against them. Because I happened to love this place which was quite unexpected and would surely be back here. Our attendant happened to mention that they have Ladies Night on Tuesdays so I might drop by then or for a relaxed lunch like yesterday with friends to try out more dishes.

War of the Sunday Brunches @ Lagerbay

Tanya Fonseca spent her Sunday trying out Lagerbay’s newly launched Sunday brunch. Although she didn’t have the time of her life, it wasn’t a total nightmare either.

Sunday brunch always spells the perfect antidote to a debaucherous Saturday night. Having said that, we thought this Sunday merited a visit to Largerbay, the all-day diner and pub on Waterfield Road. It occupies the hip residence previously home to Zenzi and has recently launched their Sunday Brunch.

We looked in vain for some sign of it the iconic Zenzi and were pleasantly surprised to find a whole new avatar. Everything, including what used to be the l-shaped sit-out area feels scrubbed and new. The dark wood decor is minimalistic, yet not bare with plenty of light that streams in through the clear glass doors.

After settling in, we made our way to the salad counter, only to find it half empty. An apologetic attendant informed us that they would require a little bit of time to set up. Back to the table at the far end, we ordered two flavours of iced tea – green apple and strawberry. While the drinks arrived promptly, the sour taste of diluted black tea was an unnecessarily unpleasant wake-up call. The drink was severely watered down and begged for even a hint of the fruit flavour the name promised. Even the Sangria needed help. If it wasn’t for the two thinly sliced orange pieces, we could have sworn it was just chilled dry red wine.

At 12:50 pm, with no information forthcoming, we decided to check on the salad bar ourselves. Our rumbling stomachs whispered grateful thanks at seeing the lavish spread of cold cuts, cheese and oven roasted vegetables. While we could make an educated guess about some of the stuff there, we would have preferred a handy label. The stack of fresh white plates also irked us with swipes of greasy finger prints on a few of them. We picked our way through four of them before we found a clean one. Tsk tsk!

Minor lapses aside, we really loved every bite of the grilled chicken tossed in a robust basil pesto and the oven roasted beetroot with grated carrot. The hot seafood salad though was the clear winner with mix of fish, squid and prawns, all extremely fresh, cooked perfectly and dressed lightly.
We would have liked to have gone back for seconds, but the soggy garden salad, the bland mozzarella and tomato salad, and the chewy Carpaccio led us to order a main course instead. Yes, we said order. At the Largerbay brunch, you can have unlimited helpings at the salad bar but are restricted to one order of mains from the a la carte menu.

Our picks of Grilled Kingfish (with a Harisa marinade, mash and baby pok choi) and the Parmesan Crusted Grilled Chicken (with a herbed mash and grape jus) arrived promptly and piping hot. The chunk of kingfish seared well on the outside with soft white flesh on the inside was extremely fresh. The pok choi wasn’t an oily mess but instead retained all of its lettuce-like flavour and crunch.

While the fish was delicious, our pick for the day, week, possibly even the month was the grilled chicken. The thin salty parmesan crust broke open to reveal a perfectly succulent grilled chicken. A smidgen of the jammy grape just completed the perfectly balanced dish. We give the chef two thumbs up for a truly delectable main course.

Still reeling from the taste of a flavourful main course, we picked the Tiramisu for dessert. Finally, we could have hugged our attendant (a stylish fellow called Barrington) for a great recommendation. Moist espresso soaked layers of cake were held together with almost cloud-like soft whipped cream. The dusting of dark cocoa sealed our verdict on this dessert as one of the best we’ve tasted in the city for the past few years.
Aside from keeping a closer eye on the cleanliness of the crockery, we have one more suggestion for the place – additional training for service staff. While all of them were polite and tried to be of assistance, they could improve their product knowledge – no one knew what the brunch menu included or how to help a guest navigate their way through it.

What is refreshing though is that with trouble brewing across the city, Lagerbay encourages you to be a responsible drinker. Notice boards act like sentries at the entrance that caution and offer to help you with your liquor permit troubles. Bring along two passport sized pictures, two copies of proof of birth and residence to apply for a permanent liquor licence. It’s a two day wait with a get-out-of-jail-free-card, well at least on this count.

Cost: Rs 1500 inclusive of taxes per head (with alcohol)
Rs 900 inclusive of taxes per head (without alcohol)
Rs 450 per child

Brunch includes one main course and unlimited helpings of starters and dessert.

chilled out place ..limited menu

So, the ambience was alright, coupla friends can go grab a beer or 2 call for starters. The menu is very limited. We ordered for soups , which had a lot of cornflour in it and very less quantity of it was served. The Basa Fish was the best among all the starters and main course ordered. A friends ordered a Beef Burger and got the feedback it wasn't great too. All in all it was an O.K place .

Beyond disappointing!

The only good thing about the place is the wall art - it's funky, retro and really cool!

However, the food, the music and the drinks are a miserable fail! Seriously, what is it with not serving more than half of the dishes for the better part of the day? And no french fries, really? We were offered the potato wedges instead - just not worth it.

The music stops randomly, picks up again - and there is no specific connect between the songs - you can go from house to retro to contemporary pop in a matter of 20 minutes.

And the drinks - when was the last time you tasted a limey-Cosmopolitan? And no, the caipirinha is not meant to be served with mint leaves!

To top it all, the bill takes a good 30 minutes to arrive - with incorrect items listed.

It may be the hippest new place in Bandra, but for me, thank you very much - it is just not worth my time.

BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!

I was the one who recommended this place to my friends for its fancy name and the interior pictures that I came across online..But names can be deceiving.
The food is really below average. We ordered for potato wedges for it simplicity and the safe preparation, and only after tasting it we realized that one could go wrong with the most simplest dish as well.Hence we avoided any exotic dish on the menu. And when the 1st dish you ordered goes wrong, you tend to give up on the meal.We also tried some prawns and squids, though the prawns were good but the squids were under cooked and tasteless.
The only savior in this restaurant were the friendly waiters who help you with their suggestions but little do they know, their best recommendations also come with a great deal of disappointment.
Please make amendments to the taste of your food so one can at least give you a benefit of doubt to visit again. And ya as your name suggests you should have had a variety in ur beer options but again... disappointment follows!
