Excellent food

This LPQ outlet is located in BKC. It is easy to find the place as it is in the Maker Maxity building which you can never miss. The name essentially means daily bread (I think so!). I happened to visit the restaurant few Friday nights back with my wife. I didnt have a reservation so was apprehensive whether we will get a place or not. It wasn't very busy that day so luckily we got a place easily.

The restaurant is decently sized with a good mixture of small and large tables. The decor is largely wooden (in appearance atleast) and looks classy. The entire place has a romantic feel to it due to dim lights and candles on each table. Hmmmmm. As we arrived, we were warmly greeted and ushered to a table next to the glass facade. We could see the garden outside and so it felt very nice. The menu is not very big but that is not really a bad thing. They don't promise everything under the sun and then deliver sub-par food like many places do these days to please as many people possible.

Going by the hype they seemed to have a specialty called "Tartines". I wasn't aware what it meant until I saw the description. Its actually an open sandwich. So, we ordered one roasted chicken & smoked mozarella tartine and one spinach and ricotta ravioli. We were promised fresh food and both the dishes were really very fresh. The tartine was a great sandwich and all the toppings tasted absolutely fresh. The ravioli too was well made and tasted fresh. Both the dishes were great and a thumbs up to the chef.

I will definitely recommend the place for its great ambulance, courteous service and awesome food.

It's very much French

We have been to this place most of the times for breakfast. Tried all their egg preparations and never been disappointed. Love the way they serve the scrambled eggs.

For the Main, Basa is a big hit amongst us, though the flavor of dill is too strong for me. What you can see in the picture is the Lamb which is delicious and well
cooked. The bruschetta are also very interesting and something you must try here.
What keeps taking me back to this place is the ambiance and overall experience of having a well prepared breakfast with some fresh Juices and some nice aromatic beverages.

It's slightly pricey, too, so set expectations accordingly. Nice lazy brunch place, if you don't mind coming to BKC on a weekend. My personal favorite - The waffles here. Dont forget to take away the amazing breads and Granola from here!

The location makes it a very convenient place for a light business lunch for people in the area. The ambiance is very nice, a well set wood based decor. I love the varieties of breakfast here. My personal favourite is the Eggs benedict while a close second are the eggs florentine.Large windows, airy space and light wood furniture all make it an easy experience. The sangrias are good and do visit during the happy hours.

A DELIGHTFUL MEAL - ALWAYS

I frequent this place a lot and the last I visited for dinner was 12/04/2014 night.
The service is always good and usually I try to find Sushant who is really good at what he does.

The food is always good here namely the Pan seared basa, the steak as well as the Pan seared chicken is what I usually go for. I have tried many other dishes on the menu including some of their open sandwiches and I must add they are delightful. I am surprised at how this place does not do more business on Saturday nights especially on days that i have visited.

I think it is an underrated joint and i absolutely enjoy coming here for the food, ambiance and service. However I agree with some other prior reviews that the bread was not too fresh in the bread basket. However the last time I went it was better than I have had before at LPQ.

Must recommend !

Dear Sahir,

Thank you for your valuable feedback and suggestions. Your compliments will only make us strive for creating more meaningful connections. It allows us to make appropriately focused corrections. As far as breads are concerned they are handmade in the European tradition with organic flour, without additives. They have a firmer crust than most breads, which is deliberate.
The Team and I look forward to your next visit at Le Pain Quotidien.

Bread??

Not a big fan of bread and certainly dont see a reason to have a place specializing for bread, however been here after work due to the very limited options at BKC, Liked everything about this place except the bread. The happy hours are always a good addition since it makes for an ideal after work couple of drinks kinda place. the appetizers were a delight and the ambiance certainly has its charm. Well coming back to the bread i'm no expert but definitely not the freshest breads available, a complete let down. Overall A good place for coffee and conversations and a couple of beers.

A Satisfying experience every time !

Have been to LPQ, BKC a number of times and have had an awesome food experience almost everytime!

Their grilled basa is to die for and I dont ever feel like ordering anything else. Though I have tasted the Pan Seared Basa, Grilled prawns, and a few chicken dishes too, and all of them were extremely well done. Their service is impeccable, the ambience superb. Another favorite is the red wine sangria. Their desserts are awesome - sometimes too good to be true!

A highly recommended place for the french food lovers !

flaked up

Planned a casual lunch with friends. The complimentary breads which were served with Wine were pathetic. They looked stale, were very hard to chew and really tasteless.
But a bottle of Fratelli made us forget the terrible breads.
Minestrone Soup - Was decent, like a regular soup.
Red Bean Hummus, Grapes and Cheese - was okayish, not very great.
Forest Mushroom Tartine with Gruyere Cheese - was indeed creamy and mushroomy as they suggested.
Caesar Salad was rubbish... it had exactly 2-4 pieces of veggies and some cheese flakes treasured between lots-n-lots of leaves.
Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli - was the only think which I liked but again it did not carried distinguished flavor.
And the desserts were not mouth-watering..!! :(
I liked the ambiance and helping staff. My 2 points for them and 1 point for wine & food.

How are they even surviving

I went to this place a few weeks back for a business lunch and the experience was so bad that I don't even feel like penning my experience down, let alone be articulate enough to even describe it.

Let me start by saying that I've never been to a place where the staff is so ignorant to the need of its customers as they are in this place.

The food on the other hand is neither bad nor something to write home about, yet I wonder why this place is always so busy all the time. When we had gone there for lunch, the place was almost packed and just as we entered a table got free for us to accommodate ourselves. Since we sat down on a prior occupied table, obviously there were used crockery and cutlery which we told the attendants there that they can clear it and we don't mind sitting while they do so. We really didn't realise that it will take 4 reminders and 20 mins for them to actually clear and clean the table.

During this time, one of the waiters came to take our order (when we reminded him to clear the table for the 2nd time). The order was for a cold salad, a sandwich, two coffees and a cold drink. The salad was pretty ok, the sandwich was supposed to have been grilled, but was still cold from inside and smelling of stale chicken. the coffee was not to bad, except that the guy serving it almost spilled it on one of us.

All in all, after spending a good amount of money, we decided not to order anything else, least it takes another decade for them to serve it and left the place.

I don't mind the money part, provided the experience of a place is worth it. And an experience at a restaurant, for me, is a combination of good food, good service and a pleasing ambiance.

Here, the ambiance was good, the food average and the service below standards from any level.

Great Place

Food: Excellent. The variety they have to offer when it comes to bread and their Brunch spread is just amazing.
I loved their bread products specially since I'm very fond of bread.

Beverages: Hot beverages is what I've tried here and a few juices. They seems pretty okay and nothing over the top.

Ambiance: Another lovely sunlit place. A great place to work as well. The garden on the outside also helps. It gets a little crowded at times and the staff tend to sometimes miss you but overall its been a great experience for me personally.

Can do Better than This...

I have been to LPQ several times...Located at BKC, it has chosen one of the finest locations, as many people have their business meetings in that area.

Beautiful and Warm place...Personally, I loved the ambiance of this place...Its decor invites you and you feel like your in a quaint little cafe...The staff is very welcoming and helpful, but the food and the prices definitely bring down this place..

Best time to go to LPQ is brunch time/breakfast time or during the evening just for a casual chat with friends...
Food is not so great! The breakfast menu is good and quite filling, hence a must try if you are near BKC on a Sunday Morning....

If you wanna relax and have some alone time, you can definitely choose this place , as the staff is very welcoming and they dont hassle with the food or ask you to leave or anything of that sorts...You could order some light beverage like Green Tea or Pot of Earl Grey Tea and sip it, sitting there comfortably reading a book or just relaxing...Its a very nice place for that!! The view and the ambiance makes you feel at peace as and when you enter LPQ...

I have heard people complaining about the bread they serve with the WIne, etc...but personally, I never disliked or had any complaints regarding that...

The food menu is extensive with a large variety of cuisines, but the food is average...Though, some of the desserts, definitely worth trying...like chocolate, hazelnut and nougat éclair ...Dripping in chocolates and nougat....Its heavenly and a treat for oneself!! Also try the pain au chocolate for sure...If you dont, you are definitely missing out on something in here....

Overall, a nice place with fine wines, but a little costly and not good to dine out...but good for catchin up with friends and relaxing....

A thorough Freanch Ambience!!

I have been to Le Pain Quotidien in BKC. The best part about the place is its ambience which is thoroughly and totally French!! The staff is very courteous. I went to LPQ around tea time and I had a HOT CHOCOLATE which was rich in quality and tasted great with the cookies they served with it as complimentary. I scrolled through the menu and I found the prices to be slightly on a higher side. I will definitely go back to LPQ to try out their sandwiches and salads.

A regret

Last week, on a weekday I had visited this restaurant for a quick grab. Ordered Seared Chicken Salad. The presentation was lovely....fresh greens on one side, big piece of chicken on one & boiled egg on the other. But taste wise, I didn't like it at all. The walnut dressing was just a drizzle. Seared chicken was oily. My idea of ordering a salad was low calorie food....but then bcoz of that chicken, I ended up eating high calorie food. I coughed up approx. 570/- just for this one salad.. a meal I regret.

Desserts

I went to LPQ with a friend just for a dessert. I wanted something with a fruit base, so I ordered the mango tart which I loved, it was the perfect combination of fresh mango with crumbly pastry.

My friend had the chocolate, hazelnut and nougat éclair - believe me, it was literally too good to be true! The éclair was lathered and dripping in chocolate and nougats, the pastry was filled with oozy gorgeous chocolate - delicious!

Amazing food

Disclaimer: I won a contest for a 10 course meal so please discount my views on price since i did not get to see the actual menu. Review: I loved the ambiance, perhaps one of the very few options that poor people in BKC have, but a really good one i must say. I was literally overwhelmed with the awesome food lined up for vegetarians in the 10 course meal. Every thing they served was presented so well. Spent nearly 2.5 hours eating. I hope they still have the 10 course meal option, ambiance is fab and the staff is very hospitable, do try

Didn't get the name, or food either!!

they must have been high when they opened this restaurant.. a jack of all cuisines and master of none.. open sandwiches, mulligatwony, tagine, pizzaz, salads, pastas and what not.. but food wasn't tasty, chicken was rubbery, cheese wasn't fresh and soup was watery, even bruschettas weren't fresh. i visited the place once and swore that i wont come back ever. the only thing worth mentioning is mocktails. My advice to them is to keep a fewer items but keep it fresh and serve with smile..

Worm found crawling in the food served

We had been to LPQ for a quick working lunch. The food was tasty as usual, and it was a pleasant experience..... till we found a worm crawling out of the salad leaves in the Ravioli.

To be fair to them, the manager and chef were extremely apologetic about the whole incident. They told us they had an open kitchen, and waived off the bill on our remaining order.... but that cant compensate for unhygienic food in a pricey place like this!!

Simply Superb

On a lazy Sunday morning, sitting in the cozy and relaxed set up of LPQ and staring into the greens through the Glass walls, all you can do is appreciate the place.

This awesome setting backed by Great food and Hospitable service makes LPQ at BKC a must visit place. I visit the place almost every week. I order a Pot of Earl Grey tea, sit back and relax. This place has tremendous warmth which makes one visit this place again and again. I personally prefer visiting it in the morning/afternoon rather than evening.

Good option for Breakfast

My wife and i went there for breakfast a couple of months back. Their omelettes are simply awesome, along with the standard sides. I also had a bit of dutch blue cheese and it was one of the best ever. The bread there.... i really didnt enjoy - maybe i'm not the type that enjoys sourdough or the other european breads. I prefer my breads to be soft and edible ;).

Great Food tasting night

We went to LPQ-BKC through a Food tasting event hosted by Burrp last Friday. Must say guys a great concept of making us taste such variety of food in smaller portions, specially work for weight conscious people like me. The ambience and decor of the place is very inviting & cosy, Unlimited sangrias and plethora of food items made our evening. I particularly loved Fisherman's stew, ravioli & Cinnamon Apple tarts. The Service was also upto the mark. Definitely a must visit place, has a cosy & French feel to it. We truly enjoyed our evening.
Pls keep us posted for more events like these

TEN COURSE MENU

had a delightful evening on 14.12.12 at their BKC outlet with BURRP. The food quantity was very less for each course , for the ten course meal, since it is only tasting menu as advised, so please dont expect your tummy will be filled up, The quantity of food needs to be increased so as to have a decent meal as they are offering the 10 course menu for Dinner. The service , preparation, quality of food, ambience , is simply SUPERB.

A good Sunday brunch

The new sunday brunch at Le pain in BKC is a good bet for lazy sunday mornings. The spread is not as huge as some of the places but does not disappoint. The salad selection is good as are the desserts which are delicious. Try their chocolate croissant or pain au chocolate for sure..well anything they have with chocolate is great in my opinion ! The eggs are competently done and they have a good eggs benedict on a great briche..the mains selection leaves a little to be desired though for a brunch..
The bakery counter is good for takeaways but a bit pricey.
Pay about Rs 1700 per person for a brunch w.o. alcohol and a bit more with sangria.

Let's break the bread together

The friendly neighbourhood bakery from Colaba opened recently in Bandra Kurla Complex. burrp! visited to find out if the suburbanites are warming up to it.

Surrounded by greenery and glass walls on the two sides, the restaurant was quite inviting. We noticed an al fresco as we were entering and were tempted to sit out on that breezy evening. Sadly the restaurant is not allowed to serve food in the open air section but the guests can sit there with their take-away. Being the law abiding citizens that we are (pun intended) we went straight inside.

The ambience inside was equally beautiful and we had a good view of all the greens. We made plans on coming in for an early breakfast soon just to see how beautiful this place looks in the morning. Staying true to the culture of ‘breaking bread together’, the restaurant has one long table in the centre for a bigger group or one that can be shared by strangers who can sit together and eat like a community. For those who want their privacy, there are smaller tables too.

After being given a choice of ordering from the a la carte or going with the Chef’s recommended menu we chose the latter. We ordered green apple sangria which was very light and strawberry sangria which had a very lovely cinnamon flavour and was a little strong on the palate.

The meal started with the soup of the day; French onion chicken soup, served with a bread basket. The broth of the soup was light with tender pieces of chicken in it. We dipped our rye bread and baguette in it and munched while two wonderful looking salads were being arranged on our table. The roasted beetroot and Mandarin orange salad with chèvre cheese & balsamic dressing was nothing less than a plate full of freshness. The crunchy lettuce with sweet and tangy dressing was the perfect combination I could ever ask for. Arugula and shitake mushroom salad had a topping of shaved parmesan and was seasoned with very mild pesto. The bitter taste of arugula which I generally hate wasn’t overpowering in this salad. We kept asking our servers about the ingredients as we ate and it was nice to see that they knew the food well.

The next round included tartines or the French classic open-faced sandwiches, as they’re more commonly known. We were served a roasted chicken and smoked mozzarella with Granny Smith apple, tomatoes and basil pesto sandwich. Chicken along with smoked mozzarella gave out a perfect smoky flavor and was an instant hit. The grilled asparagus with ricotta, shaved parmesan and diced tomatoes sandwich was more subtle in its flavor. We loved the crunchy bread with a spread of ricotta cheese.

After wiping off our first two courses it was time for the third one and the chef sent us a beautiful looking lamb stew; the lamb shreds in the stew were tender and well cooked, and were served with potato dumplings (mashed potato balls stuffed with cheese). Laksa chicken with whole wheat tagliatelle pasta, basil and boiled eggs was creamy and yet not very cheesy. The boiled eggs went perfectly well with the pasta. Being more of a seafood lover I focused on the third dish, grilled chilli garlic prawns and was totally blown over by the subtle garlic flavour that they had. The prawns were served with roasted potato wedges and the dish was balanced well with the veggies like bok choy, leeks and asparagus.

By the time we reached the desserts we were way too full. So we just opted for a soft centre chocolate cake. When this marvellous cake arrived on the table I didn’t feel like digging in for a couple of minutes since it looked so pretty. Finally, I decided to pick up a spoon and cut through it. Liquid chocolate oozing out of a gooey cake; it was orgasmic. We finished that piece of heaven and thanked the chef for making our evening so special.

After feeding us so well the chef treated us to another piece of good news that Le Pain Quotidien is soon to open in Bandra West too. So all you buggers who think that travelling to BKC is one hell of a task, can stop cribbing and say, YAAAY!!!

Meal for two: Approximately Rs. 1500 + taxes (without alcohol)
