Good Food

Last Sunday (20th April) I had been to Croma to buy some stuff and discovered this place.

Dimsum festival was going on so could not resist it.

I really enjoyed the food while watching IPL match.

The food was excellent!

Welcome to a disaster!!!! Yes exactly. And other people like me, who have always loved the bandra Lemon grass, will also definitely feel the huge disappointment that this malad one is!!!
To start with, service SUCKS!!!! The servers or the so called manager, have no clue how to take orders or entertain requests. They neither understand english or hindi! And they dont know what is on the menu!!!!!!!!!!! Imagine!
There ARE BIG HYGIENE ISSUES! THE place is DIRTYYYY!! To top it all, the qaulkity of the food is shockingly bad!!!!! JUst stay away from this place!

This is different

if you feel like coming out from the 'triple schezwan' and 'paneer chilly' and if you want to try the real continental food.. this is the place. reminds of thailand, literally.. with the low seating.. blissful music and aroma of lemon grass.

For Pubs & Fine Dining

It is one of the resto pubs but have more like the fine dining experience. Its a multi cuisine restaurant. There are lots of asian dishes on the menu. The kababs here are very good. Black dal is also very tasty. Ambiance is very good along with the service. Went with a group of friends and was a decent experience. Staff is good. It was a fine experience and I enjoyed it. Go for it. Thank you

Visited the place with high expectations but let down thoroughly. The food is strictly ok. After having a disappointing appointment with the soups and appetizers, we decided to skip the main course. However, the desserts were a real treat. They were the only reason why we left the place with a smile on the face. The honey fried noodles and sizzling brownie were awesome. Overall...not a must visit place.

Good Experience

I went to this Chinese restaurant with a lot of reluctance as it didn't look that welcoming.....we were very apprehensive while ordering as well....but after our order came, we were forced to change our views about this restaurant as the food quality was good and the service was also proper.Music was also playing but it would have been nice if they played more of oriental music other than hip-hop/rock. Overall a decent experience for Chinese food.

BIRTHDAY BAR HOPPING

Well to start with the service was not up to the mark. It was way too hot sitting inside n we had to ask the staff to switch on the air conditioner, which was like weird. it was more of FINE DINE experience then like a restrobar feeling,..for the first time i tout it wud be a good place to hav a birthday celebration but now will only opt for lemon grass if going with family and not friends. In the end had to bar hop from lemon grass to another one only to have a gr8 time wid my friends, i wud rate it 2 n hope u guys will find my review of some use. thank you

I ordered veg exotic gravy and just requested for no green chilies, however it wasn't considered. The Veg food was smelling more of Non-Veg.

Dear Mr Tushar.
As per your home delivery order, A Veg exotic Pepper Gravy and A Veg Fried Rice was delivered at your residence, all along keeping in mind your request for " No green chilies. "
The Greens that you see in the fried rice are chopped spring onions and Pepper being a spice, could have caught on a little extra spice, more that what your palate is accustomed to.
Having said this, I would sincerely apologize for your experience with the food, that you ordered and the next time around in future would personally assist an

Disappointed

today i happened to visit lemon grass after reading all the reviews posted here.
the place looked good and moderately decorated.
we ordered Fried Spicy Chicken for starters and 2 beer pints.
the ambience was really boring first of all, with very few tables occupied, no music, no nibbles.
i had high hopes about the food though. but when the starters arrived, we noticed that the chicken was neither spicy nor hot as the recipe suggested.
tasted bland!
m glad we didnt order anything other than that.
we made a quick move after pay 600rs for nothing.
i would not suggest LemonGrass to anyone.

Definately must Try out their Kabab's
The Black Dal and Roti's will leave you speechless.

Great food and ambience!!

If you're looking for yummy Chinese food around Malad, this is the place you head to. We had the lunch buffet. The starters were simply delectable, with the paneer cooked and marinated to perfection. The stir fried noodles are so flavoursome they don't need a gravy! And our meal ended with a sticky apple toffee. Do try their iced teas, they have a huge range right from apple to strawberry to lemon and peach =)

the new pan asian sizzler fest

the sizzlers are a great hit here, with a variety of sauces you can choose from which go over the meat of your choice (sea food, chicken or lamb) the taste and experience of the food is unbelievable. if you are vegetarian, your choices are as open as the meat eaters with a variety of veggies in your sizzler.
this is a place where quantity and quantity do justice to a person looking for a great ''sizzling'' experience.

Good Food with Good Music

Been there last nite for an early dinner. Though I had prebooked a table at 8 pm with Mr. Duggal & Mr. Vineet Sehgal - I landed there at 7.15 itself...but they did not seem to mind at all. The candle & table I had requested for were ready to welcome us.
Ordered the Garlic Noodle Chicken Soup which was really good with lots of veggies. Extremely filling for a soup. Then ordered Fire Crackers Ghoong which were prawns wrapped in a roll with Green chilli paste which was superb. Ordered a Corn Cheese Squares in Sweet Chilli Sauce which was good. Both the starters were starckly different but great together. The Music was Classic English with lovely romantic songs which I wanted to hear bit louder so the Server happily raised the volume. Though the candle was brought & lit - it kept going off. I asked the Server to light it up almost 4 times which they did with a smile. But the fifth time the candle blew off - I thought it wud b stupid to keep asking the server to keep lighting it so let it just be. But my husband appreciated their willingness to keep us comfortable.
The cherry on the cake for both of us was undoubtedly the Kiwi Mango Mocktail which was so thick, cold to the rightest degree. Awesum Taste & the attention to detail was the limeslice & spring of corainder which was superb. It was nice that we were 2 but ordered only 1 mocktail so without asking the mocktail came with 2 straws - that was very thoughtfull. The straws were light yellow in colour with green lines to go with the yellowishgreen drink & the lime & sprig.
That is totally attention to the detail. Happy & contended with yet ordered a main course - their speciallity Khowsuey - which was superbly done. Though Coconut based curry was not really our personal taste but was extremely wellmade.
All in all we had a great evening - great food at a great price. Special Thanks to Mr. Duggal who kept enquiring how things were. Thanks to Vineet Sehgal whose responses on Burrp actually made me curious to get to Lemon Grass. Thanks for a lovely evening

Excellent Service! Great Food!

As I live in Canada, I don't usually get many opportunities to come back to India. But I was highly impressed by this restaurant in my most recent visit to Mumbai. I attended my niece's birthday party held here on the 28th of December, and I must say the food and service (not to mention the hospitality and management) was amazing! The management made sure that the whole event went smoothly, while the guests and hosts enjoyed the party. I was so pleased with the overall demeanor of the restaurant that I ended up taking my family twice to the restaurant for dinners during my visit. Highly recommended!

I just called these guys up for home delivery after reading all the good comments about them here..
They told me that since the delivery boy is unwell and hasn't been coming for 2-3 days, I will have to order food worth Rs. 1000+ and only then their service staff will come and deliver... Can you believe that.. Are they just plain lazy or are their trying to drive customers away?
I am really disappointed and I will never call them up ever again.. For Pete's sake there is no derth of places to eat at Malad!!

Pleasantly surprised !

It was the afternoon of 15th August and it was with some apprehension that I stepped out for lunch with family. The entrance to the restaurant is through Croma which was going through its annual sale and there was no space - both at the Parking and at the store. With trepidation I gingerly stepped onto the elevator to head directly to the first floor, with crossed fingers hoping I got a table without having to wait.

Surprisingly, none of the restaurants were crowded and I chose Lemon Grass Restobar having tried their Bandra place a couple of years back.

Sadly, it being a dry day we had to satisfy ourselves with water. My only regret being that they could have offered us a cheaper option to Qua Mineral water.

Tried 2 soups the Tom yam chicken and the Tom Khai veg and they both came out toppers. The coconut flavor is the Tom Khai is recommended anyday.

The tradional Tom Sam raw papaya salad alongwith Pai Thos Kraphao which is crispy Chichen with basil leaves served well as appetizer. The sweetness of the basil combined with the spicy chicken made an interesting medley of tastes.

For the Mains we ordered a Burnt Garlic Spinach rice along with Mongolian Crispy lamb served with carrot and spring onion and another chicken dish. Sadly, we were served a sliced roast Lamb with green peppers. We complained and returned the dish and they graciously accepted their mistake.

They more than made up for that with a large portion of honey fried noodles with vanilla ice cream.

The entire meal with soups(2), salad, starters(2), fairly large portions of Main course and a dessert + taxes all came upto just Rs 1200/- The service charge added on the bill is just 5% compared to the normal 10% added by most restaurants these days and even an undeserved 20% in some cases.

Fake Reviews

Burpers, Isn't it way too obvious that most of the reviews below are FAKE and written by the owners? If its' obvious to a user like me, its definitely known to burrp as well.. unfortunately they are doing NOTHING about these fake reviews. I have been following the sudden rise in 5 / 4 star reviews and the praises used for this place.. and the profiles of the reviewers is NEW and lemon grass being the first review.
My Message to the owner : I know you want to promote your place, but please DO NOT USE this platform as this is ONLY for genuine feedback and thus is beneficial to aam janta. Btw, i have been to your restaurant MANY times.. infact i am quite a regular and have had the 'Live' stir fry many times.. many users have mentioned 'watch your food being cooked in front of you'- now thats a lie. my stir fry's have never been cooked live in front of me (out of the 5 times i've had it). No doubt, the food tastes good but you i don't accept posting of fake reviews.
I' m beginning to lose faith in the authenticity of reviews on this website. i have also seen Lemon Grass' ad on burrp's homepage which is a paid ad. Just putting 2 and 2 together, something looks fishy. If burrp doesn't take action against this, i"ll delete my profile (and i am a regular burrper) and make this fraud public. And i mean it.

Oriental Gastric DELIGHT ! Simply AWESOME !

Lemon Grass (malad) is this truly great place to relish authentic oriental cusine . It ranks amongst cple of the best chinese and thai food i've had all over india .
And believe me when i say that money is well spent and is totally worth each and every penny !
The staff is attentive and courteous.
Inovative design can turn a dud site into a destination. In this case, the makeover is reminiscent of a classy yet simple resto-bar theme, where one can have a quiet lunch/dinner with family or come and catch a drink OR watch the match live on a BiG Screen .
Talking about drinks at this joint has by far one of the widest varieties of Cocktails , mocktails and imported/local alchohol i have witnessed which is very attractively arranged across the bar which would definitely get u thinking as to why you dint leave your car at home .
The modern Thai experience is a fusion of classic Thai and Chinese cuisine and excellent service in a luxuriously adorned restaurant .
The extensive menu features classic Thai dishes as well as fresh new tastes especially in the Starters menu . The crispy spinach starter (veg/non veg) is a personal favourite and a complete "must have".
All in all an excellent blend of exquisite ambience and scrumptious cusine i'd say its a "FIVE STAR" worthy resto-bar.

This is the only restaurant in the area that has consistently delicious food. The Thai food is outstanding! I could eat it every day!

I love this place. It's hard to find a decent Thai restaurant in Malad(w), but this place is incredible. Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, reasonably priced, and their spicy actually means spicy.

We ordered the Green Curry with rice and the Pad Thai, and both were superb.

Veggie Options: Very good selection of Vegetarian dishes and noodle soup. It is rare for any Thai restaurant to have such a good selection. They also have a good selection of Veg Chinese. Would definitely try that on my next visit here.

Ambiance: The Ambiance is good, nothing special but good enough for a date or even family and friends.

Service: The service was GREAT!

An Evening to Treasure!

Food Quality: 5/5
Food Quantity: 5/5
Food Price: 5/5
Ambience: 5/5
Service: 5/5

My evening started at 9:10 and we received a warm welcome from the staff and manager. We were guided through what we could order keeping our palate preference in mind. The Food is exceptional! Very fresh veggies and meats. The aromas and flavors can make your mouth water tremendously.
The Ambience is very soothing and calm, beautiful Asian centric décor. We were paid a lot of attention to and the waiter and the manager kept asking us if the food was alright and the music was delightful etc. Brilliant customer service! The Menu attached to the profile is updated and reflects very economic pricing in my opinion, for the ambience, quality of food and delightful service. We (my date & I) ordered 2 beers, a chicken starter, and the unlimited ‘make your dish’ option for 300/- person. The bill inclusive of vat came to roughly 1200/-

Management, I have no constructive feedback except, keep everything the way it’s going & you’ll have more people on your fan list. I’ll be dropping in again shortly.

Wishing you the Best,
Tanya

A must try!

This place is a must visit for connoisseurs having a bent for Oriental flavours. The place is conveniently located at Link Road in Malad and has a warm feeling the moment you enter it. The décor matches the theme it intends to portray and the staff is there to assist from your first step inside. You haven’t even seen the menu yet! The menu is pretty diverse and includes most everything that suits a basically Indian palate. At the same time, it does not leave one board with the usual flavours that one is accustomed to. One’s taste buds get trained (on the new flavours) and delighted at the same time.

I tried starters, soups and the main course, and took suggestions from the host (which helped me immensely) and had a great mix of expected and unexpected flavours. The portions are good and so are the mocktails. Even tried one of their deserts (which I usually don’t’ at restaurants) and was pleasantly surprised. A strong recommendation for people who want their taste buds trained on Oriental flavours but not to be rubbed the wrong way!

Excellent!!

Had a long shopping day with a gal pal and decided to try out this place... We were not at all disappointed. First the ambience and decor is super…… It has a totally relaxed chilled out feel to it. We decided to have a very early dinner (7.30pm) the staff was welcoming and very helpful!! Ordered Green ice tea with honey and lemon and spinach cottage cheese dim sums - they had fantastic flavours.. really good!
Next we were ably guided by Simon while placing the order.
Prawn stir fry for my prawn loving friend and Veg Burmese Khouswey for moi…. I remember eating this as a child by an aunt who stayed in Burma in her early years… so was very skeptical about the same taste and quality. But LGC surprised me by giving the same flavor and taste. It was a fantastic meal!!

Thank you Simon and Lemon Grass Caf酅we are definitely coming back!!

Total bill: Around Rs.975
We ordered
2 Green tea with honey and lemon
1 spinach dimsum
1 Veg Khouswey
1 Prawn and chilly garlic stir fry

Super delighted experience!!!!

We had been to this restaurant for a family get together,
The ambience was a real relaxed and not those typical restaurant styles. LIKED IT very much. something different... Eight of us ordered variety of Mocktails and Cocktalis. Did like the Kiwi Mango mocktail. The food was very authentic in taste. Liked everything right from starters to main course and of-course the dessert. ooh la la... it was yummy just the right mix not too sweet!
Just awaiting my next visit to this place,

never going back

We thought of trying this restaurant for sunday dinner but it was very wrong decision. Firstly, the manager was opening door was everyone. This just means that he had nothing else to manage. You need to keep a well dressed doorman. We ordered an asparagus dimsum which had spinach and just little bit of asparagus. Mongolian stir fry had boiled veggies rather than stir fried. The sauce was also very watery, we couldn't tolerate the stir fry. only thing good was the strawberry-guava mocktail. The ambience and furniture was also very cheap.

Good Place..Lovely Ambience..Needs more variety

I have been visiting Lemon Grass quite often because of its proximity to my house and also because this place has a cozy feel with its wooden furniture and a lovely ambience. I should also mention that the same ambience can appear quite dull especially when there are not many people around.. I love the food served here but now crave for some variety in vegetarian fare.. I wish they would add some variety to their existing menu especially their main courses and add some claypot dishes or experiment with mock meats which can be used to create some exotic stuff.

In all, a good place to drop by for a meal.Candles and flowers would certainly perk up the place and the menu certainly needs a few more main courses there :)

Yummy Scrummy :)

I was there last night and we ordered the Veg Platter starter and the Bangkok Spicy Chicken starter and both of them were yummy and had distinct flavors. Must try!

The 3 sauces served at the table were refreshingly different. I especially liked the peanut sauce.

The only disappointing thing was the Virgin Pina colada. It was watery and the only thing I could taste was the ice. Couldn't taste the pineapple juice nor the cream of coconut. Surprisingly, it wasn't even garnished, not cool at all. Don't go anywhere near it...

The main course was nice. The spinach and burnt garlic rice was tasty. You could take a rain check on the Singapore prawn gravy though.

Overall, a nice place for a nice lunch/dinner, not reasonable priced though but I will definitely go back and maybe try the weekend buffet :)

Good food but Pathetic Service!

I happened to visit this place yest being a Sunday, thought it would be crowded and we would have a waiting line. But to my surprise, it was empty, nobody at the reception outside to take our names, we entered and got a nice cozy place. The ambience was good, the music was good and the people around were happy and look satisfied. The starter was just too awesome, exact amount with the exact ingredient,It hit me by its flavour and my expectation grew for the main course. The main course arrived after 30-40minutes of waiting(shouted, screamed, looked hungry)and then it came, not that great as the starters.

Overall the food was good but the service was slow and looked like nobody cared.Atlast after the main course we did get a Blueberry Cheese cake(complimentary) which was sweet of them but still the service not upto the mark.

Would think about going there the next time, may be on a day when its empty so that I would get full attention.

Thanks for the cake but not for the service.

Good food but where are the diners?

When you walk into a restaurant in Malad on a Sunday at peak lunch time and find nobody there, you do not get the most comforting feeling. You decide to eat there nonetheless, driven mainly by the fare in its Bandra cousin. You have the electrician's team for company and an enormous number of flies which one of the staffers was swatting with the "bat". The food was good as were the drinks (a tad slow on the bar service though). But the mystery of why nobody came in until we left an hour-and-half later remains unsolved.

Still Waaaiting......part 2...

To finish what i started....the delivery finally came at about 9:30, after we had spoken to the manager, the owner and just about anyone who could figure out where our food was, anyway, the bill was about 790 and we gave the boy a 1000/- note, and were told that he dint have change!!! so we told him that he should have been carrying change with him and to come back with it since we dint have any, and he did. At 11:40 in the night!!!

Mr. Sehgal, it was nice to speak to you (my wife did actually) , and it was nice of you to tell us to call you directly the next time we want to place an order, but come on, really, do you really want your customers to go thru this much trouble to get to your food? I admit, your momos are great, the Tom Yum clears up my sinuses in the most delicious way possible, but do you really think i'm going to go thru this much trouble, everytime?? Sir with all due respect, i think its time for you to relook at the management at your restaurant, and i mean this in the most respectable and 'i wish you the very best' kind of way, cos i really do love your food....

Cheers.

PS the extra star in this review is only because the food is so yummy, but i do think they could have offered us a discount for aaall this trouble, and when the food did finally arrive, i couldnt finish it because i ate up so many chips and dips cos i was so hungry waiting for the food that i lost half my appetite...one completely ruined evening....

Good Experience

I visited Lemon Grass on 10th June for a quiet dinner with a friend. After reading a torrent of not so flattering reviews on burrp.com recently, I must admit that I was a bit sceptical. However this restaurant was highly recommended by a friend and we decided to give it a try. The good news is that I was not disappointed. We reached there around 08.30 PM on a Thursday night and the place was reasonably qieut - it was around half-full. The staff was curt and prompt - no complaints on that front. We decided to stick to the vegeterian menu as my friend was a vegeterian. We started off with a three vegeterian platter which had straw potatoes, spring rolls, cottage cheese and veg satay - and it was excellent. This was followed by a Thai Green Curry with Steamed Rice and Kung Pao style Baby Potatoes and Water Chestnuts with grren onions. Both the dishes tasted great and I liked both of them. I did think that the Green Curry was bit too watery - I thought it would be a broth - but no complaints on the taste front. We had water melon based moctails which had a nice zing to it.

All in all, a good experience. The total damage was 1300 including tips and taxes which between the two was reasonable.

Needless to say, I will definitely visit this place again, this time to try some of their meat based dishes - hopefully soon.

Extremely poor experience

Dear Mr Vineet Sehgal,

My mom and I visited Lemon Grass, Malad on Sat, 01May10 at 2pm for lunch. It was our first time here and we were looking forward to a nice gastronomic experience. After we selected our table, we tried very hard to get the attention of the many waiters for a menu card, however, all of them were blatantly ignorant to our requests. In fact, I even noticed that some of them were giving out menu cards to a family who walked in a little after us.

After a while, when we were finally handed out a menu card, we placed our order with one of the waiters and recapped the order twice to ensure that he got it right. It took them more than 20 minutes just to get our starters. Please note that we had ordered different starters - I had ordered the Bangkok Crispy Chicken while my mom order a Korean one. When the dishes eventually came and were placed before us, I asked the waiter which was the Bankok Crispy one and which was the Korean one and the waiter looked at me completely clueless and hurriedly went to call another waiter, who came and quickly took one of the starters saying that we were given Shanghai chicken. Had I not asked the waiter to identify the dishes, I would have eaten something that I had not ordered for. It's really a shame that your waiters have absolutely no knowledge of the dishes they serve day in and day out. To make matters worse, the second starter came after another 10 minutes, only aggravating me further.

Now, it was time for the main course. We waited and waited and waited and there was no sign of the same coming. Finally, my dish came after a good half an hour and we were told that my mom's was on its way. We were both starving by now and so I asked my mom to share my dish with me (though she wasn't really fond of spinach which my food contained but was forced to eat it due to hunger).

We thought my mom's dish would come in 2-3 minutes, but let me tell you that we finished our meal and still it didn't come. We tried attracting the waiters attention but they seemed disinterested. Finally I asked one of the waiters what was happening and he said he was going in to the kitchen to check, but that man just walked into the kitchen and came out pretending we were invisible and started attending to other customers. He didn't have the decency to tell us what was happening.

We were starting to lose our appetite now and I was fuming with rage, as I have never been treated like this at any other restaurant. Finally I just got up and told one of the waiters..Enough is enough..I've been patiently waiting and I've run out of patience and I want my second dish just parcelled and that I want the bill asap so that I could get out of the place. And right enough, when the parcel came and the bill was presented, I made the payment and just stormed out of the restaurant.

I'm so disgusted with the attitude of your staff and the inferior level of service provided by your restaurant and trust me, this is one place, I will never ever come, let alone recommend it to anyone.

I've taken the trouble and time to let you know of my experience so that you can (hopefully) change the way things work around at your restaurant, else believe me, your establishment is not going to survive for long.

Awful experience

I have been a huge lemon grass cafe fan right from the time they opened at bandra! And when they opened right next to my office at Malad it was perfect... I have hosted many office and family dinners there and I absolutely adore their Tom kha soup.

I have spoken so highly about this place to so many people that when my cousin from the US flew down he insisted I take him there. Sunday afternoon, lazy weekend and we were all set... Except that what happened there today could possibly be the worst service any restaurant could ever have.

For the longest time we were waiting for the orders to be taken. The waiters would look, ignore, not take orders... After some frantic waving they took orders but didn't serve for 40 mins and I could see my food lying on the counter but it wasn't served. The starters came in completely cold and despite several reminders we were not even given any ketchup/sauce with it. I could see 2 more families walk out completely frustrated. Oh yea... We were there from 2 pm to 4 pm and despite repeatedly asking we were not served water. 2 hrs I kid you not!

After such a painfully long wait, a wasted Sunday afternoon and being in a very awkward situation cos I had guests with me, we decided to cancel the main course. The waiter very non chalantly obliged without any apology and presented the bill. We thought we were done with the place except their machine rejected three cards.

We called the manager and asked to speak to the owner who said he will look into the matter and get back to me. 7 hours now and no reply. I had to profusely apologise to my guests and head out.

For a place that was a super favourite I am terribly dissapointed. I am never going back and would ask everyone to give it a very good thought before going. You don't want to ruin your Sunday meals and conversations fighting with a bunch of indifferent waiters and still going hungry, do you?

In one word the experience today was a major #FAIL

Worth it.

I went here after reading a lott of great reviews and a couple of not so satisfied ones. So I decided to give it a shot. Didn't require reservations on a saturday night. +1. The seating area is different. A couple of them dont have a backrest but thankfully it wasnt very full. So we got a nice cosy corner to ourselves with backrest :). Decided to ditch the drinks and dive into the food directly. Ordered 2 starters: The Bangkok crispy chicken and Chicken salt and pepper. It didnt take too long for them to be served. I really reallly liked the Bangkok crispy chicken.+1 But the even better part was the variety of sauces on the side. So usually it is the mundane soya sauce, vinegar and chilly sauce. But here they had it all different. They had a chilli based sauce, a honey based sauce (honey with vinegar me thinks) and a coconut based sauce which may put off a few coconut non-lovers but surprisingly it seemed to add a special zing to the food. +1
Quite satisfied with the starters, we proceeded to order the main course. We opted for the mongolian dish from the curry section. You get to choose the sauce, veggies and meat from a given list. Sauces like chilli mustard, oyster, honey based...etc. Veggies like broccoli, zucchini, morning glory, mushrooms, baby corn among others. We went for prawns with chilli mustard and all veggies...which was a score.+1 It was served on a bed of rice (or noodles or flat noodles as requested) and was really very very tasty. Quite different and satisfied out taste buds :). We topped it off with gooey chocolate which was so so.-1 But the overall experience was quite good after a very long time. Will go there again to try out some more yummy looking variations.Oh the staff was quite pleasant. The guy serving us was smiling all the while :) +1
Overall....definitely worth a visit.

Cauliflower Only

I think Lemon Grass Cafe should change their name to "Cauliflower Only" because in each and every dish we ordered is full of cauliflowers.... Phad Thai(Pad Thai)... who adds cauliflower in it...and where is the crushed Peanuts and corriander.. I don't know what sort of Phad Thai was that.
Thai Green Curry - a bit spicy on the side but again full of cauliflowers... where are the other veggies like ... zucchini, Broccoli... etc.... Only dish that was good amount of veggies is like - Zucchini, Broccoli, Mushrooms, Sprouts Baby corn...etc.. is Mongolian Stir Fry.

In Starters we had "Three Vegetarian Platter" - a hip of Straw Potatoes nothing but French Fries, Spring Rolls - Full of Oil and Paneer & Vegetable Satay and only veggie in Vegetable Satay is Capsicum.

Moreover after eating here i got Sore Throat. Had a bad experience.

Worth all those 5 stars

Has an easy causal ambience, courtesy pleasant oriental décor and smiley service making this joint ideal for long conversations between grub. Annexed Kalypso Café makes it an added attraction for people with choosy preferences.

Service is humble,‘innovative’& v.accommodative. The place indeed justifies oriental cuisine well enough to have gotten us visiting twice in the same week.

The place truly deserves to be rated with all those 5 stars [Got slightly miser with that one star owing to a tiny glitch there having to pay in cash once…. Inconvenient but understandable]

Finally something good closer

Lemon Grass offers an extensive selection of authentic Thai cuisine that is light, fresh, and traditional. The menu includes Thai curries, noodle and rice dishes, offered with a choice of chicken, tofu, or vegetables.

LOVE THE RED THAI CURRY AND BURNT GARLIC RICE! Must have!

While the menu is extensive, every dish is prepared well, proving that the kitchen staff is skilled.

The simple décor imparts a subtle elegance, nice choice of color!

Must say it's a good restaurant in the vicinity for Burrper's who stay in the surburbs and cannot frequent others so often!

well, i used to frequent to this place earlier when my office was located in the same area. But last week, after a really long time i bumped into this place!!

Everything still the same... FOOD obviously taste as great as before... but there were a few good developments brought about at the place.. they have started with some Tarrot Reader and some Crystal Gazing stuff... pretty different from though... i was actually gonna end up going to Patila which is some new joint opened out there.. but while coming the escalator, this new thingi at Lemon Grass caught my attention...

Anyways... keep up the good work and will look forward to visit this place in near future! :)

Very poor hygiene and service

I had very bad experiences with Lemon Grass, Malad West but the 2 most are:

1. They put a BONE in Veg Hakka Noodles. Here is what my experience was after that:
I called to let them know and all they had to say was "It happens sometimes". Then to my surprise they said we cannot help it, after lot of arguments finally the manager offerred to give a replacement. That was the biggest mistake ever. I did not want to take it forward so I said ok. I got the order after 1 and half hour. So basically I ordered at 9:30 and got my food at mid night... I am never ever going to order from this pathetic place

2. They are the most lazy management:
When you call for a home delivery (which they claim they do) they will ask where is your building blah blah. Mine is walking distance from their place and after all explanations they will say we do not deliver in this area. They always say we are full today :). Curiously, I have been to Croma so many times, almost thrice a week and I have never seen this place full. But it is no surprise considering the management

Anyways, from my experience, NEVER EVER GO TO THIS PLACE.

Good Indonesian stuff!!

First Off the ambience wasn't very impressing...and the waiters were few but among them one was very helpful. We started off with soups..tom kha and tom yum..the tom yum wasn't very amusing and tom kha was too rich..
We then placed an order for burnt garlic and spinach rice(was very plain) and pakchoy gravy(should have had more vegetables) in veg and nasi goreng(was outstanding) and thai style saucy chicken..thereafter a plate of basil and hot chilli rice sticks(was amazing)..We ended the dinner with belgium chocolate(which was very good)..
So overall..the place deserves a three star for above average food, average ambience, and good service,The damage done for four was 1500 approx..
And don't forget to try out the dish which plays nice sounds when rolled from the outside.

Thai food!

Good ambience. The waiters forget the orders and take time to take next orders. We realised this bcuz they gave us enuf time to have a long lost discussion. Food was great and reasonable prices. The issue that night was with faulty credit card machine, so we had to go all the way to the atm to give them cash.

Authentic thai and chinese

This restaurant has changed its internal look positively and seems to be bright and cozy at the same time. I have visited this restaurant 4 times. Taste is really authentic in Thai curries.Especially the starters like mongolian lamb, chicken in red pepper sauce are worth the taste. In maincourse the curries like Wok on the table, prawns in basil sauce with a combination of khaopod gapro rice is yummy with some Chilled Tiger beer. Without the blueberry cheese cake the meal would be incomplete.
This restaurant is easy on the pocket and the BEST part is that its open between 4pm to 7 pm as well. SO IF youve missed ur lunch time u can always drop in at this restaurant and fill ur stomach with great taste.

Cheap food makes it 3 stars...

My rating has gone from 1 to 3 this time. Only because of the cheap food. Decor remains the same. We chose the central lower seating place. The place was very unclean to sit.

We were three on a sunday night at about 1130 or so. It was empty totally.

Stuff we had was Nasi Goreng (Seafood) and Phad Thai (Chicken) and one Dutch truffle as dessert.

Total Damage - 500 bucks. And the quantity is decent.

This time I was able to read the burrp award sign posted there. It says the best south east asian restaurant or something.

Well I am no expert but definitely value for money food. Even if the alcohol is pricey

Nice place for a lazy Sunday lunch

I was over there yesterday for a lunch with the DH and the MIL, celebrating Mother's Day! The place was about 60-70% full, mostly families out for a Sunday lunch.
I had an iced tea, was ok. Not great, but at 70, I guess, not bad either. DH asked for a fruit punch, and since we were sitting facing the bar, we saw them making his fruit punch with Tropicana and a handful of fruits. DH was understandably upset at that, but we let it be.
Next was food. We had phad Thai noodles, Korean rice and a fish in chilli bean gravy (the last one being the pick of the day). The fish was really good. Phad thai and rice were good too, however I have had better, so no complaints and no over the board compliments either.
However, the best was yet to come, the dessert. we had something called gooey chocolate, which is semi soft chocolate cake, which is warmed before serving and upon being warmed it becomes the most creamy gooey chocolatey dessert you've had. I've had a better one only at Cafe Basilico, and it was amazing. So the meal ended on a truly sweet note and other failings were forgiven!
(Cost of a meal for 3: Rs. 1000)

Burrp Award ?

This place has a burrp award hanging. For what I don't know. We only had beers, mocktails and desserts. So no comments on the food.

The floor is unfinished with cement filled potholes. Is that a look? Or an excuse not to maintain the property.

The ac trap doors on the false ceiling needs to changed immediately.

The point is if you are charging a 100-150 bucks premium on every item mrp, why maintain the place like a udipi restaurant??

On top of that, the place advertises Carlsberg on every table. And guess what ? The stock is over on a sunday afternoon.

Another negative - They only serve pints :(

Superlative Thai Curry

I will be honest - I havent explored all the options Lemon Grass has to offer, so I cannot comment on the food overall. But I personally have had a good experience and wanted to share it with you
Me and my friend wanted a quick lunch and so we jumped directly to the main course. She took a Thai Green curry (veg) with rice while I took a Malaysian Stir Fry with hot chilli sauce. Both of the dishes were very good - especially the Thai Green Curry which somehow stood out from the curry served in other joints. I can safely say it was the best I have had in Bombay.
They used to have a great dessert counter but they have discontinued it - probably because they dont seem to be attracting too many consumers.
But overall, a very satisfying lunch with good service and good food

Good Chinese. But bad Thai.

Went here expecting moderately good thai food since I have given up expecting authentic thai in mumbai a long long time back. But was once again disapointed. Their thai dishes are not even worth mentioning. Would be just a waste of my time writing the review here. Better to avoid the thai altogether and stick to the chinese. As for the alcohol drinks, I seriously doubt whether they are sticking to the measures. Doesn't look like it atleast!!!

Chandni Chowk to China

the review title may not say much..but hang on and i will explain the nitty gritties.
For starters me and wifey went there for a dinner. The decor looked above average. The food was not that expensive and the starters were nice..the panda style bamboo chicken was a nice twist and quite good..we tried some king prawns and i must say they were nice..the main course also was good..
The food was eastern affair presented the mish mash style that is quite particular in india..i mean the food was good but had it been authentic chinese i do not know how many people would have actually touched it.
And that is the reason why it was chinese presented ..delhi ishtyle..spicy and lip smacking good..
however one thing that was good to see was that the service was nice...the main manager himself served some portions of our food..but that could be because it was a sunday evening and traffic was slow..
but nonetheless it actually made me pay them a tip..which is interesting in that sense..in india there is always an unsaid expectation that the guest will pay..no matter if the food is good or not..which is something that I have written about in the other posts as well..however what the F&B industry needs to understand is that good food, good service are by themselves two of the most important factors that will make people come back to you..and grow your business..and thats how it should be..but as always the lone flag bearer stands..however we enjoyed it and hope
do too..

mood may've shifted

Went after reading the plethora of reviews with some high expectations. Wasn't totally disappointed since food quality was okay-ish. The pandun-leaf wrapped chicken was nice, though portions were tiny. Snacks were above average while main course was more dhaba-style than authentic. With a name like theirs, exact cuisine identity seemed a tad merged from Mongolia to Japan with not too many things being from the same ethnography.
Now for the rub, cocktails were very skimpy on the alcohol content. Service was downright shabby with each order needing to be conveyed multiple numbers of times and coming in batches....with intervals long enough to please only the cootchiecooing junta, but not good for the serious foodie.
Tab run up for 6 people, with two drinks each and three main courses and three desserts was close to 6K, so Not too budgety as others may opine!

Excellent Authentic Ambience

We celebrated our wedding anniversary out there in Lemon Grass. The ambience was so attractive that we couldn't resist getting in. we had no plans for lemon grass. but it so happened that we couldn't wait to get in.
The services rendered are of top class and the cleanliness is another heartthrob. Its so neat and clean.
The prices are quite reasonable. But a littile improvement is required in the vegeterian food taste.
We had ordered for a sweet corn soup. But there were more of beans then corn., The spring rolls were over fried.

Overall a good experiance.

South-Asian Food Paradise

My husband and I love the original Lemon Grass Cafe at Bandra, and so decided to try their new outlet at Malad a couple of days ago for lunch.

The ambience of the place is pretty much the same as the original restaurant, with wooden benches and tables, interestingly painted walls and friendly service. Little things like bowls of water with a single floating bloom on each table, bamboo swaying in the breeze outside the wooden-slatted windows, tiny ceramic containers of peanut sauce & the patterned cloth lamps, add South-east Asian touches to the decor.

They've introduced an open kitchen in this outlet, an idea I personally like very much, since you can see most of the food being prepared in front of the diners. I also think an open kitchen tends to be much cleaner, at least the bits visible to the public ;-) !!

The food, as expected, is extremely yummy. We started with Chicken Satay, served with Ginto (raw papaya salad). You get two sticks of the satay & a small helping of Ginto for Rs 110 - they give you the choice of ordering your satay per stick or as a combo with the papaya salad. Do dip your satay in the peanut and/or honey-chilli sauce......heavenly!

Unfortunately, the day we went, they were out of Burmese Khouswey. So for mains, we had the Mongolian Stir Fry (basic dish Rs 140). This is crunchy stir-fried veggies served with noodles or rice - you can customise it by adding meat, seafood, chicken or tofu and a sauce of your choice. We also loved the Korean Pan-roasted Chicken (Rs 175) - succulent, boneless chicken glazed with honey in a star-anise gravy. I would rate this as the best dish of our meal, for its slightly sweetish, wonderfully aromatic gravy. The Veg Burnt Garlic & Spinach Rice (Rs 90) to go with the gravy was also great, with tiny bits of golden fried garlic flavouring, but never over-powering, each bite.

Desserts are quite average, definitely not their strong point. The Irish Whisky Slice (Rs 60) was much better than the totally avoidable Lemon Nougat Pastry (Rs 40) which had way too much artificial essence in it. I have given Lemon Grass Cafe one less star just because of this lousy dessert.

The wait staff is very friendly, with good suggestions, and take your feedback at the end of the meal.

I almost forgot to mention - they also have veg and non-veg set menus for lunch, offering a soup, starter and main course.

Overall, yummy food & good service so we're sure to visit again, though I think desserts will be at Crepe Station next door :-)
