The Red Velvet is a rocker here.... The other cakes are also really good, among my other favorite is the cheese cake.... The best thing about this place is that at any point of time you do not find too many people, so its nice to sit there, relax and enjoy your pastry.
Best Dessert Shop in Mumbai!
AMAZING desserts at reasonable prices. So far I've tried the cheesecakes, the chocolate mud/lava cake(which was to die for!), the Kahlua mousse and the apple tart. All were delicious, filling and fresh.
I didn't care much for the savory items but this shop is a must try for anyone with a sweet tooth. Their menu is inventive and extensive, and the staff is helpful and polite.
I wish they would open a branch in Bandra/Mahim as distance is the only thing keeping me from visiting more often. :(
Very Low Quality
So I was walking by and I notice this quaint little place which looked super nice and cozy from the outside and so I decided to pop in for a snack. I bought one Paneer Junglee roll, 2 Red Velvet Cupcakes and a Lemon Tart. To be honest, it was a waste of 300 rupees. Most Boulangeries in South Mumbai are high priced and have good quality stuff. Celejor and Theobroma for instance. However, this little place ha a long way to go.
The paneer roll was a mashed up mess in soggy bread. One mouthful could you send you reeling. Supremely heavy, cloyingly sweet and no semblance of any texture. Just one big sweet and tasteless bolus. I left most of it. The lemon tart filling was alright, but the tart shell was like stone. The Red Velvet Cupcake was at another level of disaster. The cupcake was very dry, the icing tasted like the cream you get in those irani restaurant cream rolls and the silver balls were stale. All in all a terrible experience. I wont be going there again!
Good but not quite Theo's
This restaurant sprung up close to where I live. Moreover I learned that they sell some of their bread and other perishables at half-price after 9 PM (as Theobroma's used to do, perhaps they still do it). So it was all very exciting. The prices are distinctly lower than Theo's, but then so is the quality. The cheesecakes are quite OK (the one with blueberry topping is the best) but the chocolate desserts are over-sweet. The croissants are passable. They seem to feature a lot of the "mashed-up mess in a roll" type of sandwiches which I certainly wouldn't dream of trying. Some of us in the area have nicknamed this place "Leo Broma" but it's not yet up to the level of the brilliant original.
Absolutely Fantastic Parisian Styled Bakery!
This place opened on the 1/March/2012 and I was one of the fortunate few to be the 1st to try out this place. For people with a sweet tooth, this place is a MUST TRY!
Nestled in Henry Road, a small street on Colaba Causeway, this place is bang opposite Scholar School. It has a huge collection of pastries, cheesecakes (to die for), brownies, breads and more!
I tried the Leo's Cheesecake, priced at INR 70/- and it was OUTSTANDING. If you like the cheesecakes at Bascillico, Theobrohma, Indigo Deli, you will love the cheesecake here. I had to go back the next day for more! The strawberry cheesecakes (INR 80/-) are so fresh and light, they just melt in your mouth.
Like Theobrohma, they have a huge variety of Brownies (priced alot better than Theo) but they're not as good as Theobrohma's brownies. The rest of the stuff is fabulous (Kalua Mousecake, Marzipan Chocolate cake, Carrot Cake)
Since they have just started, they've not got their Credit card machine in place, so if you plan to visit them before April 2012, carry cash.
Watch out Theobroma, you've got some serious competition just a block away from you!
