Went to Mainland China at Vashi on 30th July as it was my B'day, so had taken my team out for lunch. I had HIGH expectations in terms of food and taste. Mainland has a legacy and I assumed that they will follow it everywhere.
Unfortunately, it disappointed us with the buffet spread. They had very limited options in starters and main course. The taste was pathetic. It looked like they are cutting down on their cost so much that they ended up using all Indian vegetables in main course gravy. There were 3 Main Course veggies - All three were tossed in different sauces and kept there.
Dessert was a disaster.
Best thing I liked in the buffet was the Ice Cream but I doubt it was made in-house.
Overall INR 500 Buffet was a waste. Will I try their a la carte?... I doubt.
High degree of brand dilution :(
Order their Crackling Spinach! Great experience overall
Was here this past Thursday with my wife for a lovely quiet dinner at Mainland China in Vashi. I've been to their other restaurant - Sigree and you will find a review in my Profile section
The place is very big with private sections separated by wood walls and is dimly lit to my liking. There is a very cool looking bar towards the right, once you enter the restaurant and a wall of vases right up front. Decor is top notch. Towards the end of our meal, the entire restaurant was surprisingly packed, for it being a weekend.
Had a very good experience at the restaurant, though I feel the food was served a little slow to my liking. The Manager of the restaurant took good care of us after pointing out that we were extremely hungry and could not wait for too long.
We ordered their Chicken Dumplings which were extremely soft and went well with their mustard sauce. Their Crackling Spinach is a must-have at this place. Though extremely expensive for the portion at approx Rs 370, it was very well worth the price. Extremely thinly chopped spinach stir fried in honey sauce and garnished with sesame seeds. It is definitely something you should have.
For mains, we called for the Tsing Hoi Chicken gravy - small cubes of chicken cooked in a red slightly spicy gravy without any veggies. Their Fukien Crab Meat Fried Rice was very good too. The crab was extremely fresh and soft and the rice overall was slightly spicy
After running a bill of approx 1500 bucks, I feel the food was worth the money
Order their Crackling Spinach. They do serve it in a waffle basket, but do not be disappointed if they serve it from a plate (meaning: it is just out of the wok)
Not the best Mainland China
I have been to mainland China in Hyderabad, also heard good reviews about Bangalore ones; but must say this mainland china is not up to the mark of Anjan Chatterjee's standard of authentic Chinese food. Benn here atleast 4 times with the last one on 11th Feb this year, I must say their lunch buffet menu is not of highest standard set by some their own branches.
Only two non veg starters, out of which one was almost forgettable, the other Drums of heaven lacked the sweet & tangy taste's combination together as served by sister concern Global grill. It also not that crispy it should be. No Prawns starters which made me wonder.
Main course was almost forgettable which some fish dish and chicken ones. Desert is not what you look for in a Chinese joint if you don't consider pastry and moose.
I must say had much better Chinese buffet with mainland Hyderabad with exceptional service at hitech city. I shall still say this restaurant's A La Carte menu was way better in terms of authenticity that many other Chinese service joints in Mumbai but this could be better at buffet too.
Worth the price
Being a niche category restaurant, it is on the expensive side. But if you love some authentic Chinese food this is the place to be. Some must try dishes are Pan fried noodles, Soups ( almost all are excellent), Crispy Corn and Hakka noodles.
Not saying the rest are any lesser. The starters (Wontons, Spring Rolls, Popping Spinach) are out of this world and are a must order again.
Located at Vashi behind Raghuleela Mall, The food at Mainland China is a delight, excellent variety of Chinese food served, the dumplings are to die for, great ambiance good service, also try their lunch buffets which is absolutely value for money and you can relish on their dumplings as much as you want........
Food for Chinese huunger
You just cant beat the soups, starter and main course of this china land for its speciality.
the ambiance is great to attract you family and friends and for special occasions.
the quantity of food served is good. You can accommodate 3 people for the meal of 2.
the only low side is its pricing. Bit costlier as compared to the other food chains. They need to work out on menu price. Else everything is awesome. I visited this place 3 time and hope to visit soon.
This place has been there for awhile located near raghuleela mall.
The ambiance of this place is very nice.
If you have a big group going you can sit in the booth which will isolate you from the rest of the patrons.
The service is efficient and they do have some great suggestions.
The food is something which is mouth- watering, tasty, pleasurable.....
My try the eight treasure soup, the crispy corn chilly pepper the four treasure vegetables in hunan sauce..
Ending the meal with honey noodles and ice-cream
Don't forget to ask for the jasmine tea once you have had the meal for a great after taste.
The only thing that just about brings a pause to the evening is the price. slightly expensive. cannot be done regularly.
Quick tip go for the fixed lunch menu if you are going with a big group.
and try and order a few variety of dishes. because you will get to relish the other dishes which are as exquisite as the ones mentioned by me
in which you get one soup one starter one main and a desert.
Authentic Chinese food, look nowhere else.
After a lot of hunting for a new place we decided to go to Mainland China which is near to our work place just a 5 mins walk. This will be the second time we will be eating authentic chinese. Had already heard lots of praises about the food at this place.
The ambiance will definitely make you go 'hmm.. The place is well lit and properly air conditioned.
This place welcomes you with a cup of Jasmine Tea they keep checking if you would like a refill. Service is too slow.
I love authentic food. and was not dispointed at all. loved the food to the core.
This place is expensive, 1800 bucks for 4
If you love authentic food and if you are foodie then you must try this place.
Authentic Chinese food, look nowhere else.
After MLC, cannot like Chinese anywhere else.
The quality of food and service is totally worth the pricing. Everything I have tried here in any visit, the soups, starters, main course has been mouth watering, with the perfect amount of spices and herbs. Steamed Veg Wontons, Chicken Starters (Normally do not have chicken but make an exception here), Crispy corn, and of-course the rices and noodles. Tried the honey noodles for the first time ever, and really liked it !
Real Chinese, tasty Chinese
the best Chinese I've ever had (no exaggeration). The place is located in a quiet locale which is a little difficult to find. but once you do find it, you know your in for some lip smacking Chinese fare. the Crispy chicken is a must try. chunks of chicken fried till crisp and tossed in an authentic oriental sauce. HEAVEN ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH. also, the sichuan chicken goes perfectly well with the chicken fried rice. the dimsums are steamed to perfection, amazingly moist with a delicious filling of chicken served in a traditional dimsum basket. they serve kimchi which is out of this world. they have a lot of options for desserts. i tried the orange creme brulee. the crunch of the bruleed sugar was amazing but there was nothing citrussy about the custard, hence, a big disappointment. this food joint is defintely NOT big on desserts, but the savoury stuff is to die for.
AUTHENTIC CHINESE FOOD IN VASHI
Had been to Mainland China , at VASHI, NAVI Mumbai, FOR MY PARENT`S ANNIVERARY. , By and large they offer pretty authentic and good chinese food with reasonably good service (differs from place to place of course) at pretty reasonable rates. They provide an adequately wide range of A La Carte options and sometimes they also offer a fixed platter buffet during lunch hours. Overall a good place to frequent.

I've always tried to avoid the Vashi outlet given the reviews. But I decided to give it a shot when a dimsum craving got the better of me. And they did not disappoint. The prawn meat in the wontons was minced and cooked to perfection. And so were the many sauces along with them. I could practically live off their Black Pepper sauce if I had to!
The main course which was Pan Fried Noodles in a chicken sauce had an amazing blend of textures, fresh vegetables and meat that was spot on with the cooking. We topped it off with the Daarsaan which finished the meal off nicely.
Given that its the only proper fine dining restaurant in Vashi, they do a fine job of handling the volume of customers. Flavours were subtle throughout and Indians wont really have a problem identifying with the Chinese food. Mainland China, thou have arrived!

Put off by my first visit
It's been some time since I visited this place, so I can't remember much about the service. But the food, now that really left a bad taste in my mouth. Especially the chicken in some dish I had ordered. While the preparation was fine, the quality of the chicken was suspect. It tasted somewhat cold and stale. Made me think that they must have kept it in the freezer too long and had not even waited for it to thaw before dumping it into the wok.
That reminds me, the chicken tasted horrible even in the lunch buffet they serve at their Andheri branch. I could somehow eat the chicken at Vashi, but at Andheri, I had to spit it out.
Having said all that about Mainland, I must confess I have enjoyed dining at Haka, at Palm Beach Galleria, Vashi. I was a regular there and then, one fine day, it closed down.
I guess good things die young.
Good Chinese food in Navi Mumbai
With the opening of mainland china in vashi I have been there about 2 times since and it's a very pleasant place with good food(better than the bandra mainland) with a great ambience.also a sweet Bengal small shop at the waiting area which is a must have.the only problem is it's quite overpriced and the waiters hover too much over ur table!! A nice place all in all.
Now overall this mainland china is good news for foodies of navi mumbai like me who r tired of idiotic five stars in n around vashi..the food is good, better than many mainlands i hv visited. been here about two times before as we like the service out here. yesterday we went there with my hubby and kids. all was good, except two things- one our attendant karunakar and two the new manager sunil. Could nt even know his (sunil's)name as he was the only person not having a nametag in the whole team..later asked the person in the lobby for his name. mr karunakar didnt even look when we were trying to get sum1 to take our order, once he came he was absolutely not intrested to serve. has a horrible body language. he vanishes faster than spiderman. manager sunil is too busy with his phone to attend guests. we were there for nearly 1.5 hours, we called sunil twice for help, each time he saw us, walked away chatting in the phone. this is not the mainland i know. liked the other 2 managers, avishek and anirvan. avishek was always smiling and attending us, serving us... anirvan got baloons and chocolates for my kids, took them for a trip around the restaurant, clicked pics for me in front of the chinese statues. he introduced himself as looking after this place, even gave his business card and mob, no. and asked us to give him a call anytime we come. thanks anirvan and avishek. lastly, if Mainland management is reading this, Karunakar and Sunil need hardchore soft skill training :(
Disappointment for a "Mainland China" brand
I went to Mainland China on Sunday evening, 29th May. Although there were lot of tables empty, it took about 15min to give us a table for five. The ambience is good; nicely decorated. Initially we orderded soup and a dry dish of bhetki fish which was good especially the soup. Next we went to the main dish, fried rice, pan fried noodles and a dish on duck meat. The duck meat was a huge disappointment; especially given the fact that the cost was Rs 650+. The total was about Rs. 2650 for four persons ( + one child).. not woth the taste! Certainly doesn't do the justice to "Mainland China" brand!!
