It was Average..

I had a party last night and had a set menu for the same, it included 4 Veg/N Veg starters, 3 Different types of pizzas, 2 salads, 2 Main Course Veg/ NVeg n 2 desserts n soft drinks. The cost for the above package was fairly reasonable from all the other restaurants I scouted in Bandra.
Coming to the food, the starters were ok, the pizzas were very nice, however, the main course was not upto the mark and that was a let down. The desserts wer decent. Overall a very average experience.
The service was good. Would like to make a special mention of Bablu Singh (Jr Manager) who helped with the arrangements.

Well Seasoned and Amazing Decor

I have been to this place on my birthday.
I am an Italian food fan.
I ordered bruschetta and white sauce pasta.
Also as complimentary we were given breads with sauces.
The food was amazing and simply delicious.

The service and staff is amazing.
The white sauce pasta we ordered were a little raw. We informed them and they readily accepted and got a well cooked pasta.

In all great experience and certainly worth taking someone for a lovely date.

Kudos to Mangiamo!!

Man of Giamo

This is one of the great place to dine. Normally, Table For Two Rs 1800 per person, Platters & Pitchers Rs 1200 per person, Grande Rs 1350 per person exclusive of taxes, which is not so expensive. In addition to the great service and food you'll experience dining at their restaurant, they also do a stellar job with catering. he salads were fresh and tasty, the sandwich meats were moist, bread was soft, and the thick cut potato chips were still warm upon arrival! They are a great catering option for a work lunch or party.

Overall a superb place to chill with family and friends and get unwind.

A TAKE on Italian !

Dined at Mangiamo for the first time yesterday, and it was fantastic ! It's a brilliant take on the best of Italian restaurants in Mumbai ! Beginning from the welcome we received, the dimly lit ambiance, the mock-tail suggestions (excellent choice - spicy guava), redoing the pasta as per our likes and the brilliant Diavolo Pizza - It was Perfect !

Think Risotto , Think Mangiamo

So after a lot discussion and of course with burrp's help we narrowed down on Mangiamo for Sunday Brunch and it was quite the experience.
I loved their cosy ambiance and the classy set up. This place by far serves the most yummy risotto-don't miss out on their risotto alla marinara which is prawns based and risotto ai funghi which is mushroom based. Also, do try their sangrias.
I would also recommend their jalapeno cheese poppers, salmon pizza, tiramisu and pana cotta.
This place might be a little steep but what was really cool was my burrp! Club card got me a discount of 15% wohoooo! Thank you burrp!

All in all a pleasant evening somewhere I would l

Was a little skeptical going into Mangiamo after reading mixed reviews but I must say my experience was a pleasant one.

We went at a time when the restaurant was just beginning preparations for its evening service, this however had no impact on their service or ruffled their feathers in any way.

In terms of the ambiance the place scores with nice wooden tables, polite waiters and a subtle classy color scheme running throughout.
The food however was okay, palatable and tasty but nothing I would rave about. The free breads they gave however were a delight and I really enjoyed them.

All in all a pleasant evening somewhere I would like to go.

Great ambience, great food

Looking for a quiet cosy Italian joint? Mangiamo is the place! The interiors are amazing and the dim lighting creates a nice mood! We tried the salads for a change and I thoroughly enjoyed them! The pizzas had a great base and the sauce was amazing! The area downstairs isn't all that great though!

Crap Location

I am familiar with the area and it is infested with rodents and is very filthy. The restaurant is surrounded by road side tea stalls, auto-rickshaw drivers, urchins and smelly cockroach friendly gutters. I wouldn't take my family or friends no matter how good the food or service. It's for the filmy wannabes. Looks good from far, far from Good...

Very Average Food

I visited Mangiamo on a thursday night for dinner with friends.....thought it was a part of the Mangi Fera/Cafe chain of restaurants and went expecting good food. Unfortunately, the food is extremely average and certainly doesn't qualify as Italian fine dining. The restaurant itself is well done up, the staff is extremely courteous and helpful, but the food is a complete letdown. We ordered a caprese salad and a vegetarian pizza abd both were so disappointing that we didn't order any more food between 3 people. Also, the alcohol prices are ridiculous. A glass of foreign wine begins at 650/- which is more expensive than any restaurant i have been too. Overall not a great experience and I would not go back there.

Poor Service

Visited Mangiamo on Sat night 4th Feb 2012. Had to wait at the bar for 20 mins before we got to our table which was reserved for 11pm, no plates on the table till i had to ask for it. Pasta served quickly but no bread on the table, when asked was given to understand that they had run out of stock. which place runs out of stock of bread on a sat night that too at Bandra?. to top it up, bill was not accurate. Overall food was good, but not worth the price or quantity, there is surely scope for improvement in both these departments. In my opinion, this place cannot manage crowd so probably would be better on a less crowded night. Surely not visiting again. Rating for the service for Food would rate it above average.

Awful Italian Place

I had been with friends after reading the excellent review in midday newspaper. I was very impressed with the place looking at initially but after settling down and ordering for snacks the bruschetta and the mushrooms....the starters were very average and nothing great for a place that charges such premium. The main course was even a disaster, I am not sure if this can be called an Authentic Italian place....as this is not even close to italian...I had ordered a Pizza, Rissotto and a Primavera Penne....This was the worst italian food I have ever eaten even after paying such a premium....Would never go back and would not recommend this place to anyone who actually enjoys good italian food

Mangiamo--Nice...Very Nice.

Mangiamo is the sort of swish place that you might want to take a friend from out of town to if only because the wait staff is courteous, the interiors are high on aspiration, there's plenty of bread, and the bottle of mineral water on your table is complimentary.

For entertainment, you could always read aloud from the menu in a mock-Italian accent. The entrance opens into a lounge that allows for al fresco dining, but once you realise that it takes too much effort to play pretend while blocking out the sights and sounds of the real world outside, you might choose to eat indoors instead.

The 74-seater restaurant includes a basement dining area, which can be as private as the number of people choosing to dine there on any given day. If you're hoping to be a part of the buzz, we suspect that your best bet would be to grab a table in the enclosed dining area.

What's to eat?
The five-page menu includes soups, salads, starters, pizzas and pastas tossed in olive oil, butter or cream, including a decadent few that have been tossed in all three.

Non-vegetarians can choose from Italian pork sausage, smoked salmon, Parma ham, calamari or deep-fried squid, prawns and mussels tossed with assorted pastas and sauces. For Rs 525, they also do a Bolognese sauce served over fettuccine in place of the traditional spaghetti.

Within ten minutes of placing our order, a plate adorned with slices of bread topped with bocconcini a semi-soft, unripened cheese juicy tomatoes and shredded basil leaves materialized in front of us. The Bruschetta al Pomodoro (Rs 325) might not be a very adventurous option, but tastes as good as it looks.

The spinach and ricotta cheese pasta-mouthfuls in the Raviolo con Spinaci (Rs 495) were surprisingly light, as was the creamy sauce infused with saffron strands. Nice.

If you're looking for a lighter meal, then the familiar Penne All'Arrabbiata (Rs 450) that features pasta in a spicy tomato sauce sounds like it would fit the bill.

The beverage list is as extensive as its expensive, so you might want to skip the excess calories, or head here for an early dinner instead and head elsewhere for more down-to-earth prices.

The staff suggested we try the Budino Di Cioccolato (Rs 260), which is likely to please chocolate enthusiasts. Personally, we would rather they did away with the caramel sauce, so as not to detract from the sweetness of the chocolate. An evening well spent.

Wonderfully authentic

Its truly, truly truly an Italian fiesta...

wonderful service and really brilliant presentation and taste.

The only other comparable place is Don Giovanni and maybe Celini. The price is on the higher side somewhere between Don G and Celini. But its true blue rustic Italian fare...

4 stars and not 5 coz maybe desserts can be a wee bit better

Bit too pricey

Tried their pizza and pasta.

The stuff is reasonable and above average; but Rs1400 for a pizza and a pasta is way too expensive...

The pricing alone could be a major deterrent..

Mangiamo Bandra

Bandra Locals, there's light at the end of the tunnel. On the maddeningly crammed stretch that is the station road, you'll now find Mangiamo, a recently opened Italian eatery where walls are painted in hushed hues of beige and blanche plates are prettied with delicate salmon pin-wheels.

This restaurant and bar that comes from the guys behind Juhu's Mangii Ferra (you can guess by the moniker and the orange-brown colour scheme), houses a leafy outside area, as well as a formal indoor bar and seating, and a few more tables in the basement. In all their endeavours to make you forget the proximity to the station, though - illuminated coconut trees by the gate, cheery signage, shady foliage - your mind continues to stay on track so we suggest you visit post 10 pm when the rush dies down. We did the same, settling on an inside table, browsing the extensive menu and ordering despite our New Year resolutions. Must not eat bread. Bread it is!

Roma with a View

Considering our seats afforded a view of the oven, wood fired pizza was an obvious choice. Our pie appeared thin and crispy, tomato sauce sharing space with cloudy mushroom paste, made slightly sour with sundried tomatoes and salty with Kalamata olive toppings. A yum starter if you want to skip the usual bruschetta routine. Also, the glistening prawns, plump with sea, tossed in tomato, cream and chilli, was particularly good. There are also a few soups and salads you can begin with. Having maxed out our alcohol limit this past weekend, we decided that these would be washed down not by martinis, but just water. Remember that see-through liquid that's not vodka? Worked out well, considering the cocktails here are little pricey.

For mains we got the Italian hunter style tenderloin and the chicken risotto. The former came with pieces of expertly pan-fried tenderloin tossed in a robust herb-dotted tomato sauce and arranged prettily around a mound of rice. The risotto with pesto-basil flavouring also featured what seems to be Mangiamo's favourite ingredient - sun dried tomatoes. No complaints! There's also a large selection of pastas and sea food mains. End with the predictable but alcohol-soaked Tiramisu or on a nippy night, the Toddy.

In short, do what we did: don't drink here (get a cheaper pre-drink if you want to save money) and concentrate instead on the tasty food, a feature that we hope remains consistent.
