cockroach in Food ??

If you had found a foreign object/ inedible objects in the food served to you, then i think you should report them to the Food and Drug Authority with a copy of report to the BMC which gave them the license to run the place. Did you take a photograph of the Cockroach in Food ?? you should also report this to the press. You may not want to go back to the FILTHY restaurant, but the others would not face the same . If you have the evidence, then you may still do the reporting.
Please help others and do not hesitate to bring such operators to the book. A police report at least would ensure that the restaurant is shut. They would have earned it.

Cockroach in Food

I and my friends ordered a veg dish and found a cockroach in that . Yuckkkkk !!!!!
Now I decide i'll never go to that place again.
It is wasteful to write feedback form (given with bill).

Good For Dinner

A sophisticated fine dine restaurant that whips up authentic Indian cuisine. It has always been a safe option for special dinners. Service is very friendly and efficient. Worth your monies. A big thumbs up!

One of the Best Restaurant i have ever visited.

I am very much new to this Mumbai, Powai Area. I was roaming with my friends in Powai. I was actually bored of eating foods of Food court area in Hiranandani,Powai.
So thought of trying something new. Then i came across this restaurant "MANTRA". Firstly i thought i would be like other restaurants. But when i entered i was astonished by seeing the "Ambience". and gradually as the time was passing in the restaurant. The interest for the restaurant was increasing. The Customer Service is good. Most of the people for judge the restaurant by the Quality of the Food. But my thinking is little different from others. and Seriously speaking i haven't tasted such a tasty food any other restaurant.
All in all i would say this Restaurant is Amazing. If we go with Food Quality - it is number one. Then with Ambience - good and most people want is behaviour of the staffs. and this impressed me the most. The Customer Service is Amazing.

Customer Service is awesome

Food is awesome.
Nice experience, the staff is very friendly, as they asked for ID proof for Corporate discounts but I told them about I belong to "XYZ" company and I forgot to bring my I-Card, but they believed and given applicable discount of 10%.
Ambiance can be made better.

Good option

Mantra, is one of the fine dining places in powai.
Good decor, ambiance and courteous staff. The atmosphere is very relaxed and is a good option of you want to have a quite dinner with your partner.

Food is not one of the best i have tasted, but still can be rated well above the average. Though portion size can increase, as to what price they charge.

Went with my brother and husband, with couple of beers and vodka and followed by dinner, the bill came close to 1800, which was on the higher side.

If you are looking for something very quite and relaxed in powai, this is a place to be.

BEST FOR GET TOGETHER

A complete family restaurant with great ambiance and top notch food quality and service. The quantity of the food is also up is superb. Mantra has two Dine-Out location:
1. Mantra Dining Bar (Original Location)
2. Mist (Exactly Opposite to Original one)

Though both has common kitchen and serves same food..
The original Mantra Dining Bar stand out when compared to Mist.
Above it is a best place for dinner meant for large groups and families.

Value for money!

Been there on couple of occasions with huge group. The food was great, liked the ambience and the staff were courteous. Though, I felt the quality has gone down when i made my second visit. Hope they keep improving.

A good pocket friendly joint

Well mantra is one of the first name you learn about when you join IIT cause it gives (or well used to) give discount to IIT students. It's one of those places where you go in a huge group, order a lot of different kind of food, get small serving of a huge variety, that fills you up, keeps you satisfied and leaves you with a very pocket friendly cheque.

Oh and their veg crispies are amazing !

Utsav- Anytime! Mantra- Never again!!!

I was there with my family on my birthday in September. It belongs to the Utsav Group who run a very good restaurant by the name Utsav(in Powai too).

They have a good menu and ambience is decent. But, had a bad experience with the staff. There were 5 of us and they had given us a table of 4 with an extra chair put in. Now, the tables are very small and cramped for even 4 people. Had asked them to shift us to bigger table as soon as there was one. After 40 mins of waiting, one of the bigger table got empty and when we asked to be shifted, they told us that it is reserved for people waiting outside and we will have to wait another 30-40 mins(this considering there was no waiting at all when we came!). The manager was rude! This got bad and finally I asked for the bill of starters so that we could just leave the restaurant. Then they relented and asked us to wait for 5 mins when the table next to us got vacated. They then joined both the tables.

Apart from this, the food quality was pretty average too. We had asked them for less garlic in all items. But, somehow it din't register with the guy taking orders!
All in all, a bad experience!

We shelled out around 1500 for a dinner of 5 (no drinks and only Veg food)

Value for Money

Restaurant has a nice variety of food and a good ambiance coupled with good and fast service. Decent prices.
If you are visiting this restaurant I'd suggest you try Dehati Roti / Masaledar Roti with Birbali Paneer. Veg raita is a bit disappointing as it hardly contains any vegetables. But a good experience and taste makes it a nice place for dinner.

Tasty food

The Green Envy mint cooler is awwwwwwwsome... and so is the Manchow soup.... and Tandoori mashroon(starter). All paneer dishes in main course are nice.... I really miss that mocktail Green Envy.. now that Im not in Mumbai. Ambiance is ok. Price is moderate. They also offer corporate discounts

quality deteriorating

The service standards have gone down. Cleanliness has taken a back seat for want of space. The staff manager here has changed to a rude person.

Not quite the success Mantra

Mantra in Powai is a highly OK-OK place, based out of the not so successful Powai Plaza is a teenager, not a child anymore but not quite an adult yet, and like a teen doesnt know where to fit. The decor would have looked good ten years back and the dull lighting gives the place an even more subdued look. The quality of veg food is ok, non-veg is good, must try the mixed bread basket if out in a group, works really well and has a lot to offer for different taste buds. The stand-out point is service which is extremely prompt and cordial. Lets see how many more chant the Mantra...

Good visit

Decided for Lunch on a weekday. The Chicken & veg manchow soups were good.Chef special - Kronkey Chicken was good fare. The Paneer sholey kabab is recommended.
The Chicken Mallika was spicy but the spices in the dish were well defined.Veg Laziz Khumb was ok.
The only grouse was a sidey OT,trying very hard to be helpful.

Mixed bag!

A table for 4 at Mantra was our dining plan yesterday. Impressed with the good ambiance and quick service, the quality of food was a mixed bag experience. Two of us were hardcore vegetarians while I was in the meat lover's team. The Mocktails were ok, not too great. Although my friend loved the black currant drink, the fruit punch and pineapple flavored pinacolada were just average!. For starters we had ordered corn tikki some cheesy treat (don't remember the name) both of which were great!! The meat lovers ordered the Mangolian Chicken which was great but the Chicken Sholey kabab was a big let down :-(
For main course we had ordered Chicken Mallika, although it was not the name that was tempting.. but the server recommended it and said it was similar to chicken Rara but spicier version with a red gravy.Since chicken rara is one of my favorites, I thought the spicier version would be nice try. Well, agony! Although it was not bad but I thought for me it was a big let down, maybe because I had too high hopes.

bad experience..

i went there with a guest, it was the most embarrasing experience. The waiter dropped water, ice cubes and food (some even fell on us). The guy taking our order then was trying to convince me into buying a masala papad and rice, for some reason. I had to refuse it about 4 times.Worst experience ever.

Great Place

Upon entering this restaurant, my first feeling was, "This is going to rip a huge hole in my pocket". But when I saw the menu, I was pleasantly surprised. Reasonably priced and with a great ambiance, Mantra offers the perfect place to have a quite dinner with family or friends. There's even a special secluded table for 10 on the side if you're there in a large group.

Mantra offers both Mughlai and Chinese. While I haven't tried the Chinese, if it's anything like the Mughlai, then you're good to go. The food here is great. The service is great too. Though at times when they're crowded (especially on weekend evenings) it gets a little slow.

If you're there, you should definitely try the Murg Rahra and the Reshmi Kabab.

Mantra is invincible!

Mantra – the dining bar is a house of Indian and Chinese cuisine where they believe in the old Indian mantra which says that to enter into a man’s heart you have to go through the stomach. It’s run by the Shetty family under the Utsav group where the management believes in the Indian mantra of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’.
They do practice what they preach! The waiters are hospitable, humble and welcoming.
They have la carte menu where lunch is served 12:00p.m-3:00p.m and dinner 7:00p.m-12:00a.m. The good news is they offer 10% corporate discounts. The plush beige wooden flooring, wall hangings, warm lights, cane furniture, sparkling cutlery and a lovely rose on each table is sure to greet the uninitiated.
They serve a range of cocktails and mock tails, the succulent juices with fruit toppings compliment your course of food well. Most of the fruit juices cost Rs.125, a fairly decent price. While you select your starters, munch in some masala papad Rs.26, it’s a nice way to begin your meal! Among the starters, the impeccable dainty prawns tawa fry(8pieces) which costs Rs.325 deserve tonnes of accolades. The fried crispy prawns with red masala are tailored to perfection. Don’t let the price of this dish withdraw you from tasting it. I highly recommend this dish and it’s a must try. I must confess, even while I’m writing this review, my mouth’s watering! The Chicken pahadi kebab Rs.175 are green pieces along with mayonnaise-coriander chutney and Chicken sholay kebab Rs.175 are red pieces topped with cooked egg white froth, this topping is pretty innovative and interesting!
One vegetarian starter which pleased my palate is shanghai potato Rs.100, it consists of well cooked and fried potato cubes with red sauce and I must say is pretty good and corn crispy veg Rs.145 is fried maida(white flour)coated sweet corn served in a bowl shaped puri is average in taste.
Under the main course, I chose to feast on some staple food. Chicken dum biryani Rs.195 is excellent and sure to satiate your palate. It’s served in a handi sealed with a roti where the waiter tears open the roti sealed at the mouth of the handi and there goes your garma-garam (hot) biryani on to your plate with the steam tempting your taste buds for more. Veg pot rice Rs.195 falls under the Chinese cuisine. It’s served in an earthen pot with gravy and is good. Veg Sapo Rs.155 is a tomato puree gravy with a few veggies is average in taste. The veg pot rice is sufficient in itself, you don’t need another gravy along with it.
Finally, indulge your taste buds in a nice sizzling brownie Rs.125. This is sure a fine dining experience at an affordable price. It’ll be a challenge for me to find a restaurant as good as Mnatra. Mantra looks invincible.

My rating for Mantra is:
Ambience 9/10
Value for money 8/10
Service 8/10
Taste 9/10

Patheticly Rude Staff

I visited Mantra alongwith my family (5 memers) comprising of a 2 month old daughter. The place was relatively empty and I requested to be seated on the sofa so that it will be easy to keep the baby there.

One of the captains interrupted and said that the place was reserved, even though there were 2 more 6 seaters empty he refused to give it. When we started to walk out from the restaurant, he came running behind and said that we can sit on the sofa (???) and mentioned that the staff didn't want to serve on one more side of the restaurant.

The staff at the hotel has to be the rudest and dumbest set of people that I have encountered anywhere.

Ambience better than Food

This place is one of the few places around powai where you get a great ambience with reasonable price. They offer veg, non veg and drinks which are actually cheap when you compare it to the ambience of the place. When we went they were playing only Akon. We ordered Tom Yum Thai & tomato soup along with veg crispy, spring Rolls & 1 non veg starter. For the main course we went for Dal Makhani (avoid), Malai Kofta & Paneer Pasanda. The starters were ok but the main course was not that great. The bill was around 1800 for 6 people. i would say go there for drinks and starters both of which wont put a hole to your pocket and do ask the staff to play some track other then Akon:P

Best North Indian joint in powai

Murg Jafrani Kebab and Chicken Biryani are a must try...
I really love this place, be it the ambience of the quality of food... Prices are pretty reasonable too (imagine chicken biryani for Rs 140).

Cheap oil; flavourless

Ordered Bhuna ghosht (Completely tasteless even after adding salt) and a Chicken gravy dish. Both tasted as if they were made in really cheap oil. My point proved true as after the dinner i could feel my throat itchy and all. The food was quite tasteless.

Ambience is good and so is service but food sucked really bad. Prices seem higher for the quality of food they were serving.

Good place, nice food

Made a visit saturday night and found the place quite lively and full. Had to wait for a couple of minutes for my table and got in the lounge area which was quite comfortable. The music was nice while the food also was quite good with a wide variety

Great ambience, amazing veg food!

Although I'm a pure non-vegetarian, I happened to visit this place yesterday with mixed crowd. Chicken Mongolian was a newly released starter, and was quite good - more like fried fish. The tandoor/kebabs were just OK. On the other hand, 2 of the veg starters we tried, Babycorn Tandoor & Shanghai Potato were amazing. I never knew potatoes could be made that tasty!

They have very little on the desserts menu and supposedly no specialty {when asked, d guy suggested Fruit Plate :(}. But you can try the ice-cream parlor right opposite for some sundaes.

The rates are quite average, and if you want to treat someone, this is the place. Decent ambiance, and a quiet place to talk. Meal for 4 with soft-drinks/mocktails should be around rs.1500

Great Multi Cusine Food & 100% Value For Money

This place is gonna be hard to beat in Powai! Their selection is vast and the captains make good recomendations. The good thing about this place is that its quite big and has great air conditioning too. I will always frequent this place towards the end of the month becuase its the only place that I can get good food that fits my pocket!

Good non-veg food, BAD veg food, SAD service

Food was good... but waiters, captains don't speak politely. Also, on my neighboring table a vegetarian customer was served a non-veg dish & the waiters just refused to accept that they served the wrong dish!!! They tried to get away by calling the chicken pieces as MUSHROOM!!!!

Also, the air conditioning was very harsh... it took at least 3 complaints before they managed slightly warming up the place. Somebody there really needs to understand... ACs are for cooling the restaurant... not for making it a cold storage!!!

To add to the audacity, the captain & the managers disappeared completely!!!

Don't go... the food is not worth the harrasment you have to suffer.
