A complete disaster!

Book your tables before you can drop in. The manager here is arrogant and bad at his job. The waiting staff is not well-versed with the menu. On asking them their best dish, they give us the menu and ask us to choose from it. We wanted to call for a fish starter without bones and asked for the rawas to be made in a semi-dry gravy on the menu, specifically cut into 6 pieces. All the starters and main course dishes are listed with a choice of fishes quoted below it. Inspite of choosing the rawas, we are given a fish with bones. When the manager is called, he tells us that the fish is rawas, has been cooked and then placed onto a bone so as to give it a particular look. He also tells us that the rawas fish always has bones, and we are surprised at his knowledge abut the same.

Our main course is Mughlai - that is better than average. The service is below average. Definitely not what we expect of a first-time visit here.

HEAVEN ON EARTH

Melting point has an amazing ambiance specially for a relaxed evening dinner plan. I had been to this place with a few friends of mine and we had a great and memorable time!! We tried the pan fried noodles and chicken in chilly soya and it was delicious!! The price is pretty decent and reasonable. The food quality and taste is up to the mark.

Lovely Experience!

We were here for my grandmom's birthday and loved the experience. The food was great...

However, I prefer the melting pot in Khar Gymkhana, which even serves Chinese food that is yum.. They also have an amazing single tall cake sundae (need a better ice cream for this one though)...

decent pot

Located at Juhu Residency boutique hotel at Juhu. Opposite JW Marriott. Valet parking available. Good ambience. Starts early at 7pm. We we're there for a business dinner. Around 9 people. Staff are polite. But that day they apparently had few new staff. Service was very slow.

The cuisine of Indian and Chinese. Starters ordered was good. Main course was also good. Only issue was the delay in getting and serving them.

Can repeat in case if service can be compromised.

Very comfortable restaurant to go to .very friendly staff.Mr. Sanjay tries his level best to accommodate everyone.
Food as usual is always good , not mention mineral water on the house policy. The Indian I feel is much better than the Chinese but it's decent.
The Kung pao paneer the paneer Tikkas even the hara bhara kebabs are good
Black daal, Diwali handi, onion paratha paneer paratha are good in quantity n tasty
Lil heavy on your pocket but best Indian food I've gone to lately.

A nice fine dining experience

Melting pot has various cuisines. This one was a nice try. On a Friday afternoon it was almost full, hence the same is enough to tell the popularity of the restaurant. Well placed tables and an elegant decor gives the entire restaurant a classy and an elegant look. Part of Juhu residency, this restaurant gives a complete feel of a premium restaurant. And yes the food too is good out here. It is surely a value for money place.

LOVE... but membership entry only

Went for a family dinner on a Sunday night around 9:30PM

CONS:
1)Food was served a bit slow, but they apologized and stated they were also catering to a party downstairs,
2)Why is this ONLY available to Juhu club members? I have told everyone to visit this place, but they cannot!!!

PROS:
1)Food was excellent- esp the Indian. ordered a veg platter, main course- paneer dish, daal and roti, along with 2 chinese dishes- all were fantastic!
2)Drinks (mojitos and another cocktail) had adequate alcohol. They were not stingy with their alcohol quantity in preparing our drinks
3)Great interiors and look-and-feel
4)Attentive staff and good service.

Being Goans, everyone in my family is extremely particular about our seafood! And Melting Pot has never failed to disappoint! Super quality of seafood and a variety of cuisines make this our favourite family restaurant. The sukha clams, prawn curries and ghassi, fried bombil, sol kadi are a must along with Appams. Highly recommended for fresh seafood lovers and Malwani food eatersz! Will be tryin it out very soon but different dishes.

Great ambiance...average food ....expensive

I visited Melting pot few days back with my family. the ambiance was really good and i liked there service. Unfortunately the food quality was not up to the expectation. The veg starters were ok but non veg starters were not good at all ( i ordered Chicken starters). i feel like that their prices are a bit expensive especially in view of the quality they are delivering.

Melt in the mouth!

This restaurant happens to be in a club, for which you need to be a member, or come along with a member to get an entry.

So when we had our office dinner here, my boss who happens to be a member, took us to this one.

This is situated on the 1st floor of the vicinity, it is beautifully decorated. The lights are not to blinding, absolutely apt for the kind of seating they give.

The entrance is greeted with a bid Buddha statue. We sat on the corner end of the restaurant, from where you can see the whole restaurant. It was bustling with people, being a Friday night, still our order came in quickly.

It has a menu which cover North Indian, Chinese and Sea food cuisines. We stuck to North Indian. All the food ordered was given by my boss, who is a regular here.

Being a vegetarian, can give views only about veg. Panner Tikka was juicy, soft and properly marinated. The mushroom starter was done to perfection, though it was a little too spicy for my taste.

The non veg starters were also served in good quantity, and what reviews I got, they seem to like the Chicken more than the fish.

With us done almost with the starters only, order a kaju kofta curry which was medium sweet, with kofta being too soft, though the taste was good. The Dal tadka was pretty decent.

Non veg eaters ordered Butter chicken, and they seemed to love it.

For dessert we ordered a Chocolate sundae, which was a brownie served with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Presented beautifully and taste was heaven. The blueberry cheesecake was served very nicely, taste was good, though would have preferred if the crust was a little more moist.

In all a evening well spent. If you know anybody who is a member of the club where this restaurant is, do give it a visit, you will not be disappointed.

Melting Pot Indeed..

Melting Pot stands true to its name. The cuisines offered vary from North Indian, Sea Food, Chinese; each prepared by the Chef with a lot of love and vying for the foodie’s attention.

My friend, Parag, introduced me to this fantastic restaurant. So a group of 8 people tagged along with him and landed here. He happens to be a regular here.

We decided on sitting outside and from there Parag took charge of the menu and ordering. The ambience is very cozy, nicely laid tables and adequate lighting. We were attended by an every smiling Manager.

Parag’s Order:

Starters:
1. Hara Bhara Kebab / Paneer ke Shikanje – Paneer was well marinated and soft. Hara Bhara Kebab was also nice.
2. Chicken Dim Sum / Tandoori Rawas / Golden Fried Prawns – Fish and Prawns were fresh and the chicken was tender. Nicely marinated.

Main Course:
3. Subzi Bharta Masala / Amritsari Dal – Veggie were mildly flavoured and nicely done.
4. Murg Dhania Mirchi Pudina / Zaffrani Chicken – We ordered Zaffrani Chicken and we felt it wudn’t suffice for everyone. So we ordered Murg Dhania, it was served in a jiffy and was spicy.
5. Chicken Hot Pot Rice
After eating all of the above, we were stuffed and inspite of the recommendations from the Manager, we didn’t dare order any Desserts. The portions are quite good especially the Pot Rice.

All in all a gratifying gastronomic experience.

Worth trying once!

We were a group of 7 and visited for Sunday Lunch. It was steep on the pocket, but the food quality, taste and quantity served was appealing. After such a looooong wait guess grumbling stomachs would anyways devour anything served. They have a Sunday lunch buffet option but rather boring spread! They have a wide seafood spread menu but the waiter was discouraging us from ordering any...fish dimsums prep time suggested was 35 mins which on a hindsight would have been a good idea given that food was served only after 50 mins wait. Chicken starter with spinach n cheese stuffing was fantastic...though dont recollect the name. We ordered Laal Maas for main course which was great...mutton just melting in the mouth. Rotis were dripping butter. Mineral water on the house was a good touch and rather unexpected. Worth a visit on a low occupancy day.

We called for kung pao potaoes, burnt chili veg soup, paneer shikanje, veg phalguni, dal makhni, naan and rotis, masala papad and veg dum biryani!! Everyone was happy and well fed but the desserts were yet to come...Appli pie with warm custard, caramel custard, angoori rabdi and gulkhand kulfi!! Yum is all that it was.

Simply Superb....very good food...

Our long awaited desire of having food @ Melting Pot was completed on 19th August 2012, when we suddenly decided to go for lunch here. Earlier we wanted to be here but due to some or the other reason were never able to make it here.

The location is just perfect and the ambience is too good and very inviting. The restaurent stuff is very polite, prompot, courteous & helpful. The spread is good for vegeterians as well. We ordered some oriental stuff like - Fungi Tongi Soup, Futchi Rice (Signature Dish and must Try)...followed by Dessert - Signle Tall Cake.....simple stuff yet very very yummy. The portions are also huge, so if you are a couple, then order carefully, else you will have some takeaway to take back,

We have now added this reasaurent as one of our favourite dinning places and would be visiting this place often.

One more visit will firm up the feedback

Not able to make up my mind on this eatery located in front of JW Mariott. Guess need more visit to form an opinion. The food served is piping hot and tastes just average from my visit this is the conclusion I can draw.

The starters as always were way better than main course. We had ordered corn Tikki and Seekh Kabab which tasted really good with sliced onion and chutney. The good thing about this restaurant is they don’t serve plane vanilla pickle but along with it they also serve fried green chilly and sweet lemon pickle which surprisingly are very much edible. For main course we went with Methi Malai Mutter, Dal Tadka and some Paneer stuff all of which were decent enough but certainly not one to rave about.

Good Food

Melting Pot is located in the prime area of Juhu - bang opposite JW Marriott.
The ambiance is really good with two areas to sit in. Both are good. The restaurant is well lit and the layout is really good.

They have Chinese as well as indian Cuisine with a nice selection of drinks. We tried a Chinese starter with Paneer and Mushroom. It was good. The Indian Main Course was good - Paneer Lababdar and Veg Phalguni - both tasted good. infact I have never tried veg Phalguni anywhere earlier - so makes me feel it was their speciality.

Service was extremely prompt. There were no problems and everything ordered came in well in time. Bottled Water is complimentary from them which is quite good - and they are not fussy on the number of bottles. Nice.

Going back - Yes
Damages : 2200 for 4

awesome!!!

simply love the food...........no matter what cuisine u choose u won't be disappointed. service is excellent. they serve only mineral water at NO EXTRA COST......yes...one of the only rest i've seen doin that.
ambience is as comparable to a 5 star but the rates r definitely more affordable.
it's definitely value for money..........their portions r huge so if u r goin thr for the 1st time then be careful not to over order. the must try started is the paneer one........forget the name.......was it paneer lawabdar??
have visited this place 10-15 times atleast & not once hv i had a bad experience which shows that they've maintained their standards consistently.
make sure u get reservations for weekend..........u dont wanna be disappointed last moment.

It was our 10 th wedding anniversary and we were too fussed about choosing a good place. Finally agreed to try Melting Pot. We could not get booking at the ground floor and they gave a good table at Pebbles on 4th floor. We were very skeptic but this turned put to be better option..

1) food was very tasty
2) service was prompt. and waiters were smiling always
3) drinks were well made..we tried some shots at the bar and they were served amazingly
4) ambience soaks you

All n all SUPERB!!!

Went to Melting Point this Saturday and since then have been wanting to write a review about this place. The person at the entrance was really hospitable and arranged for us a table of our choice... Ordered a Long Island to start with, which was very well made, so cheers to the Bartender....
The food was delicious and cooked to perfection (The Chef does take his job seriously here)....to top it, portions of food were very large and if you are two people sharing a dish, I m sure you will face some difficulty to clean of your plates...unless u have a never ending appetite for food...
The service was the best of it all, as we were never left on our own, to chase the service guy...
All n all, though a little on the expensive side, but a heart and stomach filling affair.
Room for improvement- Music can spice up the place a bit more.

What a shame...

What a shame they have such an apathetic attitude to solo diners. Since arriving from London two years ago I have dined alone everywhere in Bombay from hole-in-the-wall places to 5-stars and have rarely seen such an indifferent attitude in any restaurant that prides itself on its service.

Went there today at 11.15pm hungry after reading these rave reviews and checking their pdf menu on their website. I went upstairs to the Pebbles restaurant on the 4th floor and was greeted by a very warm and hospitable waiter who took me on a guided tour of the floor above. Finally, on his recommendation, I decided to dine at the ground floor Melting Pot restaurant as Pebbles was due to close in less than an hour and I did not have the time to sample their crab in the leisurely manner it would deserve.

Coming down I asked the hostess at the door for a table for one and was guided by her to a tiny cramped table next to a service point. When I asked for one of four empty 4-seater tables she insisted that since I was alone they could not give me that! I explained that they would be taking last orders in less than 30 minutes so surely she could seat me since there was no queue but was refused and was told it was a policy to not give larger tables to solo diners regardless of time and lack of wait lists! I wanted to tell her I promise not to eat the table, but refrained.

It's a shame that a high-end restaurant still maintains such a greedy and jaded policy. In the past two weeks alone I have dined solo at Juhu's Mahesh Lunch Home, Gajalee, the Novotel Bar, Aurus, and Punjab Grill; at Colaba's The Table, Wasabi, Harbour Bar and Sea Lounge at the Taj Palace, and the Atrium Lounge at the Taj Land's End, plus at Bonobo and Olive - Khar amongst others but nowhere do they have such a callous and indifferent attitude. At the Sea Lounge they guide you to a table of eight if that is what you choose and take you there with such kindness!

I left hungry and eventually ended up tonight at Mahesh Lunch Home across the road and was served with much personal care at a table of FOUR... and, I did not eat the table!

I am leaving 3 stars as I would not want to spoil their excellent ratings and was impressed by the warmth of the waiting staff on the 4th floor.

Every Burrper should visit this place atleast once

Right opp JW Marriott, residing in Juhu Residency ground flr, not so difficult to find.. As soon as one enters, you immediatley get a feeling of being a class above, with really nice paintings and sculptors and great looking decor...
Our group of 7 was placed outside ( which is also A/c ) and has a very good seating place..
We all started with drinks and it took some time but came nevertheless.. And simultaneously also started with starters (Kung pao chicken and vegetable, stir fried vegie) All good. When we ordered the main course, the quantity is awesome somthing close to the quantity of 5 spices, 2 dishes of veg (Hot pouri rice, malaysian noodles with hot pot sauce vegie) were more than enuf for 4 ppl... We also had Sea food an was YUMMY! Visit this place for Indian veg, Sea Food and Continental not sure abt the European cuisine claims!
they lacked a bit in choices of desserts and i would suggest them to add more ice cream and kulfi options, the kulfi we had was very indulging... So tasty...

Food is yummy, drinks are great, desserts were good too... only place where it lost that 1 star --- is service... initially they asked us thrice for what water we would like(not a very good thing) and when we had ordered our food we had to ask them thrice for our order....

Apart from Service, i rate this place highly and would recommend you all to go for a visit.. With drinks, starters, stomach full main course and desserts, it was close to 1000/- per person (drinks have 25% VAT and food 12%) .. soo lil heavy on wallet, but worth the indulgence!
Every Burrper should visit this place atleast once:)

A Place that cannot be missed!!! Excellent :)

I had planned a surprise for my fiancé as it was his birthday, the staff gave an excellent co-operation and they all were so warm. The best Hospitality service me and my fiancé experienced! I had booked a table on Rooftop and with the help of the staff i made it a candle-light dinner and the best part was that luckily only we both were there throughout. We had ordered couple of hard drinks starters veg and non veg and main course so the bill summed up for 2k(all worth) also the manager came up personally and asked us if everything was perfect and he got a cake for my fiancé from their side, wasn't that soo sweet and kind :) all was sooo PERFECT!!! The food was also just soo yummm...A place that cannot be Missed!! :) A classy Dinner by the bay giving view of J.W.Mariott was all fun :)

disappointed

We have eaten at The Melting Pot a number of times before and found the food excellent and the service even better. This time left us with a bad taste in the mouth. We had seen that the fixed price menu had a starter of shredded crab with curry leaves - no price against it - but there was also a shredded crab on the main menu as a starter for about Rs500 - so we figured it would be about the same price and opted for the shredded crab with curry leaves. The dish I admit was tasty, nice and small which was ideal for a starter. Then we had the prawn gassi - just normal sized prawns - and the dish had a measley 3 prawns each in it! Wonderful crab pulao though! The worst was yet to come when the bill arrived - the crab starter was on it for Rs 1,200. Of course we queried this - and pointed out that the other shredded crab starter on the menu was less than half the price. The waiter then made lots of excuses stating that that starter would be much smaller (how much smaller could you get?) - but we argued - 'we had ordered the crab as a starter size'. No luck with that at all, he wouldn't budge - even when I commented that he'd now lost our custom. Disappointing!

Good place... Dont give it a miss!

Been there on the 6th of Aug... made a reservation and the staff was very cooperative with us celebrating a birthday and getting or own cake( other restaurants usually have issues with this). As soon as we reached, we were not made to wait and were immediately escorted to our table.

The menu was limited due to the various cuisines, but was delightfully different in its content. Nothing which is Run of the Mill. We ordered Chinese food and were delighted at its taste.

Service was extremely good just that the staff had a few too many things to speak amongst themselves which got a little loud at times. It wasn't annoying though. They were extremely cooperative and friendly.

It was a great experience and I'd like to say thank you!

good food, place. just needs to focus a bit more

Went there for dinner on Sunday. had reservations for 8:45 which was good as the place was quite full.
The ambience is more like that of a good Chinese or Thai a lot of dark wood, copper AC ducts, - several Buddha statuettes and posters.
The staffs were efficient and friendly, smiling and playing with my young daughter.

Melting pot takes the multi-cuisine tag seriously and the menu ranges from Tandoori to Coastal Indian to Oriental. The staff is helpful and made recommendations Of course my daughter says she wants pizza and it turns out that Melting pot makes Pasta even though it’s not listed on the menu.

We ordered a penne with cheese sauce, a subz cheese seekh kebab, and Malaysian fried noodles along with 2 mocktails.
The service was prompt and they brought out the food in good time. The pasta was surprisingly good. No bland white cream sauces here but instead a flavourful cheesy parmesan sauce with garlic and herbs.
The veg kebab was your basic mixed veg tandoori kebab with some cheese grated on top. Reasonably tasty but nothing memorable.
The noodles were good. Broad flat noodles that seemed to have been tossed in the wok quickly and pan fried. Neither oily nor dry . tasty without being saucy A good mix of lightly cooked veggies as well. Broccoli, leeks, zucchini, carrots, bell peppers and woody shitake mushrooms.
Melting pot has a separate desert and coffee menu. Just had a tall cake sundae which was a tall glass filled with chunks of a fluffy brownie, some ice cream, chocolate sauce and nuts Very nice ending to the meal
Even though Melting Pot is doing a commendable job as a multi- cuisine restaurant - I feel it would be better if it stuck to a cuisine. I noticed that most people were ordering tandoori or oriental food.

As it was quite late and we were with a young child the hotel staff helped us get an auto.
Portion sizes were generous.
I rate it as 4.5 on 5 but it could be an exceptional pan Asian place or even a great tandoori/ mughlai restaurant.

Mmmmm. Melts in the mouth, melts your heart..

Went to The Melting Pot today, i.e. on a Sunday afternoon. We were immediately offered a table. I loved the way the place has been made up. The Buddha statue, the paintings, etc. The colour-scheme of the restaurant is earthy, and every little thing seems to have been chosen carefully. The bar area looks quite well decorated and attractive too.

Service is excellent. They lay the napkins for you, water is served and water glasses are refilled immediately, tables cleared after each course instantly. Very polite and attentive staff. You do not have to wait for someone. You just look around, and someone is at your side almost immediately. The supervisor himself is actively involved in looking after everything.

Between the two of us, we ordered a mocktail (mist fantasy - quite interesting. Really liked it). Chicken manchow soup (one by two). Quantity was excellent, and the taste even more so. By far the best manchow soup i've had. It has a slight hint of a minty-lemongrassy taste at the end, which is quite delightful.

For starters, the Captain Mr. Neil Lobo suggested us Patra Kababs. It was FANTASTIC!! Chicken pieces stuffed in a minced chicken covering, and tandoored. Beautifully flavoured. A MUST TRY. We actually called the captain back just to thank him for suggesting us this dish. The portion size was so good, that we were nearly full after eating that.

Next came the main course, and, as recommended again by Mr. Lobo, we tried the Chicken Roganjosh. The taste was excellent. I happen to be a little partial towards thicker gravies. Roganjosh is not exactly a thick gravy dish, but i loved it anyway. Perfectly spiced, no flavour overpowering the other. By the end of this, we were sooo stuffed, that there was no room for dessert.

Kudos to the Chef for the Chicken Manchow Soup and the Patra kababs.

I'd like to thank Mr. Lobo here too, for his excellent recommendations.

I also liked the fact that the Captain came and asked us whether we liked the food, later.

All that plus 2 rotis, a butter rotis and a butter kulcha.

Meal for two (without dessert) - 1400 Rs. And it was worth every rupee :)

5 stars, without a doubt.

Broken Pot

What I learnt after a weekend lunch at Melting Pot is that you can take Shetty’s out of Udupi (and into fine dining) but you can never take Udupi out of the Shetty’s. Some combination's (shetty’s and fine dining) are just not mean to be. I usually avoid multiple cuisine restaurants but after reading such glowing reviews here I decided to give it a shot.

Despite being a sunday afternoon we got a table immediately but the service was woefully slow which was understandable since the restaurant was packed. After much waving and signaling to get a captain’s attention, we were given two menu cards for a table of five. So much so for fine dining.

When I asked the young, fair captain for more menu’s he looked at me as as if I had asked him for blood. From his smug demeanor it was clear he wasn’t too happy working on a busy Sunday. Placing an order took another good fifteen minutes. I enquired about a lamb chop starter (Adrak ke panjeh) and he looked at me as if I had asked him the question in Sanskrit (it is listed in the online menu but missing in the hard copy). The captain, whose name I later learnt was Samrat was clearly having an off day because he wasn’t interested in answering questions and frowned irritatedly each time he was asked one. It is one thing to label a restaurant, fine dining, and another to hire a captain who probably was a bus boy only a few months ago or working in a Gokul type shetty dive bar (he took our order while resting his elbow on a chair). Sample this: when a person on my table ordered for the Singapore pomfret and insisted that it should as fresh as the one she had last time, Samrat laughed and mockingly said, ‘Should I get that same fish then?’. Welcome to Melting Pot hospitality.

Everything went downhill from then on. If a restaurant can't get an ice tea right then there's no hope. Most of the oriental starters were drowned, smothered and bashed up in the same base/sauce. The main course isn't worth mentioning.

Melting pot clearly seems to be headed in the direction of restaurants that start with a bang and end in a whimper.

One More Time...

This was my second time here..but it just gets better time and again..we were four of us..on a friday afternoon...and started with the regular salads (American Cole Slaw) and the papads...which were absolutely crunchy...not like the other places where they actually give an excuse...We called for 2 vegetables amongst four of us which were not only sufficient on quantity but great on quality... too..just love the paneer there and the paneer masala kofta with those soft cottage balls...just yummy...and then followed by the rice...Now comes the est of the lot the desert tried the single cake tall sundae but just superb with warm chocolate sauce and real big scoop of ice cream...My visits to The Melting pot have all been great not only due to the ambiance but the service...the quality of food and their offerings...Give a five on five coz they deserve it...hand up Good show...keep it up

Great ambience, good food

One does step into Melting Pot with a little nervousness as restaurants which serve all kinds of food usually do not specialize in anything...

Therefore while going through 3 extensive menus (of all the 3 restaurants on different fooors)- we were first a little apprehensive as to what do we order and what would be the speciality...

Thankfully we were helped by the every polite and eager to serve staff who tried to understand the food we liked and recommended accordingly...

We loved the seafood - specially the prawns, rawas in spicy think gravy, steamed pomfret in a hot chinese sauce and the steamed rice..
The best part is that mineral water is on on the house.. Also, do try the solkadi which was good.

Costing - as expensive as Mahesh Lunch Home diagonally across the road...Per person coat was around Rs. 750/- with seafood starters, main course without desserts

Minus points - most of the curries or preparation have the same flavors. We had asked for spicy food but it turned out that most of the dishes had a lot of red chilly paste and similar ingregidents..

Plus point - Quality of seafood - fresh, excellent.

Great food and ambience!

Reservation recommended: Yes.
The restaurant seems to be very well-liked and is always full, more so during the daytime as it is very popular with the 'kitty-party' crowd, so making a reservation will ensure that you don't have to wait for a table.

The Ambience:
The decor, though eclectic, leans towards being predominantly Asian, with, gorgeous, portraits of the Buddha dotting the walls at regular intervals and a statue welcoming you opposite the main door. A mosaic border runs along the tiled floor and a bronze-hued air conditioning duct snakes along the ceiling. A seemingly well stocked bar runs along a wall. Warm lighting and comfortable furniture provide an overall elegant mood.

The Service:
Extremely polite, knowledgeable and unobtrusive. The servers, thankfully, didn't hover around the table but were there the moment they sensed you needed them. We were glad we followed the dish suggestions the maitre d' made. The food took a while to make its appearance at the table, but it was well worth the wait.

What we Ate and Drank:

Whole Rawas with Lemon Parsley dressing (Rs 445) recommended by the maitre d', this was the most succulent and delectable fish I?ve had in a while. An instant favorite!
Whole Rawas in Singapore dressing (Rs 445) tender fish in a great tasting dressing.
Chettinand Chicken (Rs 295) good, and spiced just right.
Appam (Rs 110) pretty good, but could be better.
Fresh Lime Soda Sweet (Rs 90)
Tiramisu (Rs 195) frankly, it didn't taste remotely like Tiramisu should. Tasted like a regular fresh cream pastry instead.

Service Charge - 10%

For a quiet dinner...

Melting pot a multi-cuisine restaurant is located at Juhu Tara Road... Its an amazing place to dine if you are planning to spend some quality time with your loved ones.

The ambiance is pleasing and the decor has a taste of the traditional culture. The service is pretty good and prompt. The continental cuisine has a large variety of Indian Chinese and Coastal. We tried the Chinese and it was quite yummy... Mineral water is not charged, which is quite suprising. There is usually very soft music of no music at all so that your meal is uninterrupted. A meal for to would come upto around 800 sans drinks.

An amazing experience and an assured 4 star for the service, food and the serene ambiance!

Top Notch !!

Melting Pot has come up where the erstwhile J49 used to be. Divided in three sections - ground floor, rooftop and ground floor private the place is very nicely done up.

Its the new popular joint in Juhu which ensures you will bump into many people you know if you live nearby so you may want to avoid taking dates there :).

Food: They serve Indian and Oriental both. Having eaten the Indian previously (Was good) decided to try the Oriental. They have a lot of veg options apart from the usual fare. We ordered a cottage cheese starter, thai herbed rice and vegetables in a lemon pepper sauce or something. The food was good and I must mention that the quantity especially of the rice is huge. Even among three women we could not finish the rice (Even after three helpings each).

Service: Extremely efficent..Maybe a bit too much but the manager was on top of things to ensure everything was running like clockwork. Could teach a lot of restaurants a thing or two about service. I also love that the plates are hot. Most places don't do it now so just for the nostalgic value.

Damages: Rs 850 for a starter, rice, main course and 2 bottles of water. Totally worth it.

Am definately going back.

A Potpourri of Good Ambiance, Service and Food

Overlooking the JW Mariott on Juhu Tara Road is the Juhu Residency Boutique Hotel, which was once home to J 49, a popular discotheque in its time. Today, in place its on the ground floor, stands the restaurant, Melting Pot.

The restaurant takes its name quite seriously as is evident from its multicultural decor. There are paintings and statuettes of Buddha everywhere as well as panels with Italian waiters. Earthen pots that line the cove in the wall cater to Indian sensibilities and solid oak furniture provide the European touch. There is a long bar on one end which looks fairly well equipped as well as an open air dining section, which can prove to be quite pleasant if the weather bends to your will.

Keeping with the theme of the place, the food is multi-cuisine (a bold move for a restaurant that calls itself a fine-diner) and offers Oriental and Indian options with a special Sea Food menu. Try the Murg Patra Kebab (Rs. 275) served with mint chutney. The chicken is well roasted, and yet fresh and soft. The Fried Fish comes with a great red Singaporean sauce (Rs. 495) and is good too.

The service is pleasant. They let you enjoy your meal without hovering around too much which is much appreciated.

Superlative League of Indian Cuisine

I wish i could give 7 stars to this restaurant. I dont recall the last time I had such an amazing Indian meal (even outcasts Masala Mantra & Masalacraft which i recently rated as great Indian courses).
To start off - decor is great. Same place as the formerly known J49 was located. The owner was around so the staff was on thier toes - very polite and efficient. We first ordered the manchow soup - pretty decent. We then ordered some appetizers - cheese veg minced kabab and a chinese paneer pepper starter. Both were outstanding. To accompany, the chatnis etc were very unique and tasty. We took our own time to order for the main course - i was so impressed that none of the waiters came by to bother us while we were engrossed in conversations for half hour after our tables were cleared of the appetizers, etc. After we rebuilt our hunger, we called for the final notch. On the servers recommendation, we went for the veg handi and the dum aloo - both veg were excellent, you really couldnt come up with one thing that was missing in terms of taste/quality..and finally thier version of the dal makhani - was heavenly. The roomali rotis were a little disappointing though - could do a better job.
But all in all, i was amazed and couldnt recollect the last time i ate a meal and every thing put on thr table was so flawless. Damage for 5 with 3 drinks - 2800.

Good Food and Ambience

There are 2 restaurants out here , one is on the ground floor and other one is on the Roof top.Ground floor ambiance is very good indeed. However the view from the roof top is not so great so its not going up there in these insanely Mumbai heat , but maybe during winters it will be good.Good drinks which are priced around Rs.250.Indian Food is fantastic one of the best in Mumbai and priced around Rs.300-350 for the main course.Sizzlers are strictly ok. Continental food too is ok.But overall very good place with top notch Indian food and not extravagant pricing in fact quite reasonable since the portions served where decent.Must try at least once.

Promising Future in Sea Food

A soft launch by the Shetty brothers who own the place. Previously a forgettable J49 now totally refurbished and re-imaged as a fine dining restaurant with as part of a chic boutique hotel. I was invited along with a group of select friends to give my opinion on all aspects of the cuisine. The sea food has been the freshest I have ever eaten, sizes that seemed un-realistically super large and a staff who wanted to outdo themselves in every department.

My wife who is a vegetarian was also well taken care off with a variety that is unique and extraordinary as was the conti and drinks. reat Long Island Iced Tea.

Also took a tour of the residential boutique hotel (in which it is housed) and found the decor and ambiance truly ravishing (if I may use the word). The roof top overlooking the JW is great for a private party and has its own kitchen. Our entire group was truly floored with everything. Must try for any serious fine dining experience.
