Your kitchen, our kitchen, everyone's kitchen!

All these times I kept walking past Mia on my way home from the Hiranandani Bus Stop, I used to peer through the glass facade into the beautiful interiors with the central bar and stools and tables around and have always wondered: will the food be as exquisite as the tastefully done up interiors?
I got my answer, almost 2 years since Mia threw open its doors replacing the lesser known Pendora (which I have visited as well) that shut as quickly as it opened. I have seen it being made, with the large black sign board with the Italian style doodles and the lighting-wrapped trees surrounding. The place is literally a couple of minutes from where I stay and is situated right next to the bigger Cafe Mangii. But I truly believe that Mia has a charm of its own. It is the complete anti-Christ to the factory made pizzas of the other well known pizza places. It has an extremely homely feel to it. Service was top-notch. The menu and water was brought forward instantly along with the selection of bread with lite cream cheese. There were 2 of us and we went vegetarian. We were debating whether to have the Antipasti, Pizza and Pasta or just the Antipasti and Pizza or Pizza and Pasta. We first went with the Mozzarella Polenta and Pizza Verde and let our appetites decide later whether to get the Lasagna. The dishes were served in a span of 15-20 minutes and were out of this world. I have been to many an Italian place in India and abroad and I know good Italian food when I taste some. The Polente with the sauce was fried to perfection with the mozzarella. The pizza was perfectly crisp, with the right amount and taste of the base sauce and the toppings were sauteed and seasoned extremely well. I just wished we hadn't gotten full with that and ordered the lasagna as well. Save that for our next visit, which is gonna be soon. I topped that up with a beautiful Tiramisu that my dad too had a couple of bites of and loved.
Prices are slightly on the steeper side but they are appropriate for the quality of food that they deliver. You can match the same quality with a place like Serafina or Prego at competitive prices. The whole feel of the place was amazing. With the music the right amount of loud, the match being screened, the lighting and the general classy yet relaxed vibe, you would do better than to not miss out on a meal here.

Mia Cucina, Powai

We had eaten at their Versova joint (now closed, no idea why) and it was a decent experience … but this one @Powai is far better. The décor is nice – with a central bar and seating all around. Caters more to the young crowd than families. Have a fair share of expat patrons. Also, the joint is a little small when compared to other restaurants here, but they make it up with very friendly staff and quick service.

Landed up there on a Sunday evening and it was full. We ordered while waiting at the bar and the staff was more than happy to oblige my wife with a customized Gnocchi dish (in basil & pesto sauce) which was not in the menu. It was one of the best she had had… we ordered Risotto and a Pasta Pomodoro further more in the main course, followed by White Cheesecake for deserts. A Sangria (white) and a glass of house wine made it just perfect (they should have better variety of Indian whites though).

The Risotto el Pollo was just amazing, far better than what I have had at the Café Mangi’s and Out of The Blues even at Khar. The Pasta could have been better, the flavours were too strong for this dish. The cheese cake was a disappointment … At 2600+ for 3 adults, no starters and 2 drinks, Mia Cucina Powai is a tad little expensive but as we said, it is the best that Powai has to offer.

Must visit if in Powai … Would recommend this place compared to all the other Italian restaurants in the area.

Best Italian Restro

Slightly on the expensive side for a cafe, Mia cucino is one of the best Italian restros in Powai. The restaurant ambiance is absolutely brilliant. They do have simple dishes that taste fresh and earthy. What i did love was their Gnocchi.

will i come again- yes

For vegetarians, would recommend the thin crust four cheese pizza and the risotto. For dessert, do try the panacotta made with seasonal fruit..we had orange and strawberry on two different occasions and both were equally awesome..the recipe we were told is unique to this place and that is what makes it a must have here..it simply melts in your mouth and the subtle taste lingers even after you have left this place. This place is slightly expensive, but then, it's a small price to pay for happiness

Good authentic Italian food

This is probably one of the best places in Mumbai to eat authentic Italian food. Most of the dishes are simple and you can taste the individual flavors that have gone into the dish. Do try the soup of the day at the start of the meal; they have different soups everyday and have never disappointed. The pasta is good but the Gnocchi is outstanding. Also chocolate decadence and cheesecake are must try desserts.

Rat sighting!!

After reading several positive reviews, i decided to catch up with my gal pal at Mia Cucina Powai. Located near Cafe Mangi, it provides quite a tough competition as both of them serve similar cuisine and target similar clientele.
We had a good experience from start to end while seated on a cozy booth by the a very well decorated wall..Yepp..there are old frames, clocks and fancy antique transistors on the wall that catch your fancy..but if u look closely and you are unfortunate..then you might just spot a rat behind the fancy decorative wall items..!!
Yes..!! A fine dine with a European feel is breeding a pest right next to your table..eiuwww..!!
I wish we had not spotted the rat..because untill then there was nothing to complain..we ordered beverages..iced mocha and a green tea..which tasted perfect..After that we had a feta and fig salad which was also quite impressive. Finally we ordered a vegetarian Verdura panini as an evening snack. Everything was up to the mark taste wise. However this is not the kind of place where you expect such a company..x-( very disspointed..i recommend the restaurant get pest control done at the earliest. Also we paid approx 1200 for 4 items (for just vegetarian and no booze) at the restaurant which means that the place is not a very reasonably priced restaurant. I have been to the mia cucina in bandra but don't think i will return to this place again!!

We are extremely sorry that you saw a rat in the restaurant and thank you for bringing it to my managers attention. We take pride in running a very clean & hygenic restaurant, we carry out pest control measures on a weekly basis and in case of a sighting than daily till we sort it out. The building we are in has a huge rat infestation and we are working along with building maintenance to get rid of the rodents. Its unfortunate that you had to experience something like that but be assured that we serve top quality product and follow the strictes

Italian fare

Gave a visit on husband's birthday.. and must say it was the right choice..!
Excellent ambiance, excellent food and very soothing atmosphere.
The staff is very polite. The decor suits the mood perfectly.

The food was very good, and the mocktails were very nice. Tried the Tangy Blush which was a pomegranate mocktail which is recommended.

Powai has its very own authentic italian cuisine to boast! Thumbs up! :)

Waste of money

Mia Cucina was highly recommended to me by many people I know so when I was around Powai I thought of dropping in for dinner. We ended up spending Rs 2200 on a feta and fig salad; which had more leaves, less feta and no fig, a pizza; good with thin crust, and a ham pasta; not so great, 1 pint of beer and 1 iced tea. Now I know places where I can have a good satisfying meal with alcohol after spending so much money.

Yummy Italian

i visited this place after reading quite a few reviews. The place gives a very tranquil vibe. Ordered for the Quattro Formaggi and the Spagetti aglio olio both of which were amazing. The prizing of the place is pretty ok, compared to spagetti kitchen and the likes. Its a must try place.

Wonderful ...

It’s funny how the same chain of restaurant offer food so different… Mia Cucina, Powai is one example that has broken the no so great cooking tradition of its versova and bandra outlets. This one is simple amazing and beats the neighboring Italian restaurants hands down. The chef is definitely the best they have and I so hope they don’t shift him. What I love best about them is their willingness to customize, the besil Pesto Sauce Gnocchi is one example. I go there only to have this version and I urge you to order this if you like Gnocchi that is. Risotto and pastas are excellent and I am yet to have a bad experience in anything here. The staff is friendly and you may need to wait in the bar area since seats are few.

Tasty food and Moderately Priced

I took my parents here for a lunch, and we all really seemed to enjoy the whole deal. The steak was quite nice, and my parents did enjoy the chicken dishes. They also had some nice dessert, which we all decided to have a second helping of.

The ambience is amazing, and I love the old bottles on the window.

great italian at good prices

the new powai joint is beautifully done up and has a great vibe with photographs donning the dark walls..the service is friendly.
the new small eats menu is well presented on a wooden board and is good value. the 3 cheese and spinach risotto is a winner .non veggies will not be disappointed by the same also! their grille drawas is also good..their pizzas and thin and delish... also great is the tiramisu for dessert - its one of the more authentic ones you will taste..one of the best italian joints in the city..
expect to pay over 2.5 k sans alcohol for a meal for two.

Lovely Decor! Above Average Food.

I absolutely loved the feel and decor of the new Mia Cucina, which has a lot of space as compared to the cramped up seating at the Bandra outlet. The food was mostly good. The Bombil Fritters were a good change for the palette and the Prosciutto pizza was not too bad either. I felt that the desserts are a little over hyped. The Chocolate and Almond Cheesecake was okay and had a soggy crust, The White Chocolate Cheesecake was good and completely avoid the Chocolate Pear Tart which hardly had any Pear in it! Big thumbs up to Mia Cucina on their new outlet and hope they fix their cheesecakes soon!

Pretty Impressed

Initially I didn't understand why Mia Cucina opened up right next to Cafe Mangi, another Italian restaurant but I was happy to find that it was quite full for a Wednesday night. The restaurant was nicely done up with a bunch of vintage stuff all over the restaurant which looked really good and added a lot of charm to the place but perhaps they could have gone in for something a little more Italian? Either way its a pretty nice place to be in. Now coming to the most important part - the food. I ordered the pappardelle with chicken which was pretty good. The sauce was well balanced and not too heavy. If I had to have a complaint about the food, it would have to be with the pizza that tasted a bit too oily and heavy. The crust wasn't crispy and crunchy like Indigo Deli or nearby Spaghetti Kitchen. Other than the fact that this was thin crust, the pizza reminded me of Pizzeria which I love but is a different kind of pizza. We also got a chocolate cake to finish off the meal which was surprisingly good. It was moist which is always a good sign and tasted good. Overall I was very impressed with Mia Cucina and will probably be back soon.

Just Excellent ...

Powai is slowly becoming a foodies haven and this is the latest addition to the Italian restaurants here. Given the fact that we now have Cafe Mangii (next door), Out of the Blues & Spaghetti Kitchen nearby, these guys had to be really good ... and they are - by far the best Powai has to offer. No mean feat !

We have eaten at their Versova joint recently and it was a decent expereince ... but this one far better. The decor is nice - with a cental bar and seating all around. Catering more to young crowd than families. Also, a little small when compared to other resturants here, but they make it up with very friendly staff and quick service.

Landed up there on a Sunday evening and it was full. We ordered while waiting at the bar and the staff was more than happy to oblige my wife with a customized Gnocchi dish (in basil & pesto sauce) which was not in the menu. It was one of the best she had ... we ordered Risotto and a Pasta Pomodora followed by White Cheesecake for deserts. A Sangria (white) and a glass of house wine made it just perfect (they should have better variety of Indian whites though).

The Risotto el Pollo was just amazing, far better than what I have had at the CMs and OoTB's at Khar even. The Pasta could have been better, the favors were too strong for this dish. The cheese cake was a dissapointment ... At 2600+ for 3 adults, no starters and 2 drinks, a little expensive but as we said, the best that Powai has to offer.

Thanks to Burrp for the 1K Voucher (prize for 6th review) which made us visit this place ... but we will definitely be back - voucher or no voucher. Must visit ... Would recommend this place compared to all the other Italian restaurants in the area.

Good ambience, decent food

The restaurant has a very rustic ambience. Some areas have louder music than the rest. So make sure you know where you are being seated if you intend to have a conversation. They have a good variety in the menu but the portions and the serving style is not suited for sharing in a large group. Nothing on the menu that is unique to the restaurant or really really stands out but a decent job overall with the preparation, taste and service. Recommended if you are in the Powai area!

Good Italian Food!

I had been here some time back for an early dinner. Very good ambience and service.
Food is delicious too. We ordered our favorite fig & feta salad. It was perfect mix of salad greens and dressing! Next was the Capellati di Ricotta e Spinaci - a ravioli with spinach n cheese stuffing in a tomato based sauce. This was delicious too. The next was Tagliatelle alla pesto - this was a disappointment as we wanted a rich green basil and olive oil dominant pesto but it was too creamy and tasted milky for a pesto. But most of the dishes are absolutely delicious! One must give it a shot for some italian indulgence!
Paid: Rs.1000/- for 2

Love this place!

Mia Cucina has been open for just over a month in Powai and I already love the place so much! The ambiance is lovely and the staff are warm and welcoming. The food is absolutely yummy! What I love is that they have sufficient variety for vegetarians as well.

PS: The bruchetta caponata and the potato gnocchi with sundried tomatoes are absolutely to die for! Do give them a try!

even better than its bandra cousin.

Visited the Powai outlet today. Its much biiger than its bandra cousin so even better. Lovely ambiance with walls full of antique glass jars, high tables, bar surrounded by high chairs. Played lovely music... totally suited to an afternoon lunch mood. The food as even better. Ordered a baked crusted king prawn for the starter. Even the main course of skewed lamb and fish ravioli in sundried tomato sause was well made. The lamb was soft and succulent while the fish filled ravioli was freshly made. Very impressive... shall visit again but this time for a few drinks during the evening. they have a very good wine by the glass list too.

Teething problems for the new setup

Just returned from a below average experience at Mia Cucina today. The positives as you walk in - good set up, easy to spot, good location, comfortable seating. As we were going through our menu, we had bread and butter served. Average bread, butter was spiced with herbs which was quite good. We placed orders for pasta with meatballs and the only pork dish on the menu. 5 minutes after we placed the order, the waiter comes and asks me what it is that I ordered again. 10 minutes after that the head chef walks out and asks me whether I am comfortable with beef because the meatballs are made of beef. Well, I am ok with beef, I tell them, while wondering why the waiter who took my order didn't ask me this question in the first place. So 15 minutes after placing my order, people are still confirming what it is that I ordered. After another 20 minutes, finally we get our order. Oh, and I forgot, all the while the a/c wasn't working or at least not in the corner where we were seated. So we are sweating while waiting more than half an hour for our food. The food when it arrives, wasn't too bad. Especially the pasta with the meatballs was quite good. The meatballs were firm and well done. And the tomato paste was very flavorful. However the pork was quite underflavored, it seemed very bland even without salt. Finally when we asked for the cheque, it took another 10 minutes for that to arrive. And the credit card slips that we needed to sign were given to us without a pen. We had to fish for a pen on our own, thankfully we had one. The experience altogether was just about ok. Wait for a few more weeks for the new wait staff to learn to wait better, and for the management to fix the a/x problem, and I think your experience might be a bit better.

Fantastic place

The place just opened up in powai and was eager to visit it... n my eagerness paid off..
The place has a wonderful ambience n complements the food served here...
Ordered for French wine on server's recommendation and loved it...
Now the good part - FOOD
For antipasti, we went for Crusted King Prawns and Grilled chicken skewers - the prawns were heavenly and perfectly cooked while the chicken was slightly on the burnt side.
For main course, we went with server's recommendation for Chicken, mushroom n pesto pizza and Tagliatelle pasta in creamy basil sauce - n both were delicious..
For deserts - I think any italian meal is incomplete without Tiramisu n it didn't disappoint.. one of the good tiramisu i've had in recent times; The white cheesecake was equally good and authentic
Finally after the deserts, i placed an order for an expresso shot and after 5-10 mins I saw 4-5 people from the staff near the expresso machine having some kind of discussion... Gs the machine had the some issue or the staff was inexperienced in the usage of the machine.. Anyhow, I've never had to wait for 15 mins just for an expresso shot...
But this I believe is just the initial hiccups which can happen to any good establishment...
All in all, friendly servers+delectable food+marvelous ambience = Evening well spent!
Will definitely come again

Should Definetly eat here

I had the chance to try out this place during it testing and food wise i am happy. It fell short in service but since it is the first few days and the staff was eager to learn they are forgiven for the small errors they made.
Now for the reason i was there......Food and thankfully it did not disappoint. The golden fried squids and baked crusted king prawns is highly recommended as starters. For main course Char grilled chicken in balsimic sauce and the stuffed Zucchini (veg). However full you maybe do not miss the dessert. the Tiramisu is to die for and my personal opinion the best in Mumbai. Also try the almond choclate cheesecake and the panacotta.
Now the Price. This place could really hurt the wallet. I would estimate Rs 1500 -2000 per person that is with soft drink.
