One of my favorites

I visit quite regularly. Either I'm grabbing a piece of the philadelphia cheese cake and running out the door or having the same meal I share with a friend upon each visit. The menu has a nice selection and as a picky eater I have found a few dishes that keep me coming back. So much that the staff recognize me each time I walk through the door. The service is good, staff are professional and courteous and food is not disappointing. Great place to visit!

great food - freshly cooked

Great ambiance , Superb salads especially the pear and rocket salad, We also had the sun dried tomato and Gorgonzola fondue, even the kids loved it. The ravioli was also fantastic. They also had a raspberry roulade on their menu,I hope they put it on the menu again in the raspberry season. Moshe's is our favorite restaurant by far.

an excellent evening

Having visited different outlets of Cafe Moshe's I was curious and slightly eager to visit Moshe's restaurant at Cuffe Parade. My first visit recently was on account of an informal anniversary dinner.
My day had begun with sore throat and fever. Initially I'd thought I'd best rest at home. But adequate rest in the afternoon and a calpol later I found myself in familiar company, seated outside the bistro styled restaurant that is Moshe's. A strategically placed fan right above our table made sure we were comfortable in the unyielding heat and rising humidity that one is constantly made to bear in May. The order was placed immediately and here's how all of it was.

The Chargrilled Vegetable Sandwich with cheddar cheese was ok (too many carrot pieces). The fries on the side were crispy and perfectly salted and brought balance to the force. The White Sauce Risotto with broccoli was good to taste yet bland (exaggerated when the rice cooled down). The Chargrilled Cottage Cheese dish (whose name I cannot now recollect) was different, interesting yet not completely convincing. The Crepizza which is apparently a variation of a pizza was absolutely delicious and had a strong taste of basil, which I personally love. The highlight of the evening for me of course was Moshe's Penne, your usual mixed sauce paprika cream pasta for which we ordered two portions (Jain & Regular) both of which were almost equally delicious. Of course to top it all was Moshe's signature Blueberry Cheese Cake, which by far is the best cheese cake I've ever had.

This is one place which I keep going back to again n again.. I love everything they have on their menu... B it coffee, desserts, pasta , salads et all... The place is always buzzing with good crowd. Ambiance is quite pleasant , service is good. It's quite a popular joint so sometimes there is long waiting. All in all a great restaurant to visit with your friends or family. :)

Food, Good Good Food :)

One of Mumbai's legendary places, regularly appearing on the 'best' lists and with good reason. It really has set a standard which every restaurant should try to emulate.

Went here with 2 of my college friends. Both have gotten married and settled abroad in last year, so it was a special meet for us foodies. We used to spend so much time together in college roaming around, searching for 'value for money' places to eat because we had to make do with the crummy pocket money we were getting. But this time we decided to go big and go to a really special place -Also 1 of us had her birthday creeping up, so she decided to give a treat, so obviously the rest of us wanted to go somewhere as expensive as possible *ha ha* what else are friends for? *tee hee*

We booked a table for lunch and reached about 5 minutes late-but our seat was saved for us. The minute we stepped in, it was like walking in a small magic fairyland. There is this bakery with the most scrumptious breads and pastries greeting the patrons and then we were led inside to the main dining area. None of us had been here before so we asked our server to make it a special lunch for the 3 ladies with voracious appetites and he smiled and disappeared. 5 minutes later our gastronomic adventure to heaven began.

First, we had 2 types of sandwiches-1 was some chicken thingy which my friends loved and I had a vegetable crostini with olive oil, loved it. Then came the hummus with pita bread which was fantastic. I love love love good hummus and this made me lick my fingers (yes I was licking my fingers at a cult eatery and I am not ashamed of that-also, I finished 75% of this dish alone and am about 5% ashamed of that :D) Then we had a paprika ravioli and this was a dish I had never had before but my friend (who had been to some world famous restaurant in Dubai and had some ravioli there) said that this was the best ravioli in the world. Then came a risotto (I think it was mushroom risotto) and I almost refused to share it with anyone else. Finally we had a baked cheesecake to top it all off and my friends had to drag me out before I could empty my whole month's salary at the bakery!

When, Oh Lord, when am I going here next? Just need to find another friend with a birthday soon :D :D :D

Superb

Moshes is one place which I love, be it for the Pizzas, their mains as well as the desserts. To top it all the coffee at their Palladium outlet is fantastic. The coffee beans are roasted to perfection. Black coffee of course. The fact is that the cuisine they serve us authentic and tastes exactly from the region. the pastas totally Italian, The hummus totally Lebanese etc. Keep it up guys

I've been a big fan of moshes and frequent their Bandra branch. However this this time I visited the Cuffe Parade branch and found a vast difference in the quality of the food. We had the cheese fondue with jalapeños which was the only thing that was still good. I ordered the Tilapia but it was not served with the vegetables as mentioned in the menu or as served at the bandra branch. Instead I got

No longer on top

When Moshe first opened a retaurant (Basilico) he brought a light, middle-eastern touch to the food (he has lived in Israel). However once he left Basilico to open Moshe's at Cuffe Parade, the food seemed to change character. In particular I found it lacking in subtlety and rather heavy on the "masala". I assume this has been done for the benefit of the so-called "Indian Palate", but having a risotto that burns your tongue (or anything whose flavours are eclipsed by garlic and red chilly) is not what I appreciate and it's definitely not the spirit of Mediterranean food. So, though the menu has been fairly inventive and the presentation is good, I wouldn't rate Moshe's on par with say Indigo Deli. Still, it remains one of the "good" addresses to dine at in South Bombay.

i visit Moshes in town and Bandra very often. Today afternoon i went for lunch at 1440hrs at Bandra with a friend. The server came to our table and asked us for our order, i informed him that i would like to have the chicken sandwich (second on the menu) i also informed him that i would like to have roast potato instead of french fries. After some time we had a whole portion of roast potatoes on our table, when we called the server and asked him is this the side dish to which he abruptly replied no this is what i ordered. Well this man does not even know how to talk to a customer, as he did not bother to ask me if i would like french fries or roast potatoes, i gave him my order and now he had the odesity to say that to me. Well even before this when i asked him if he cud get for us some bread, his immediate reply was we will have to pay for it..how disgusting, am i at Moshes for free food, i very much can afford so i walk in this restaurant. I had to walk out after such a disgusting behaviour. the server name is Naved. and i will never ever return to Moshes....Iam sorry to say, if u can charge customers then you very well can have better servers who know how to talk....my mail id is smitajal@hotmail.com

Very rude manager

Called to order a birthday cake on phone. Wanted to order the strawberry chocolate cheesecake - manager on phone says will have to check whether we can make it - but i have to place the order before he can ask his chef and let me know if he can make it - I said thats ridiculous - how do i confirm unless I know it can be made - he says no you have to tell me - I cant keep asking my chef 2-3 times and got rude and says " i am not your servant" Geez - is this the professionalism and service one expects from a place like Moshes which charges 1500 a kilo for a cake ??

Cozy and Elegant..

After a LOT OF options my friend suggested, we ended up going to Moshe's and I didn't regret it at all. Thanks to her, really. Bestest Cheese Fondue ever! Creamy, thick and totally tasty! For the main course, I ordered Beef which was really very good. Cooked exactly the way it's supposed to.

Desserts, I had a baked Lemon Cheesecake which was a perfect end to a great meal!

Very simple, cozy yet an elegant ambience. Loved it! :)

Sad Service

The management/owners really need to give the staff a crash course on how to deal with the customers. One of them made a sly remark, which I managed to overhear about the tip we left. Not only is it impolite to discuss something like this in front of the customer, it is also detrimental for the restaurant's future business as it will only stop the regulars from coming!

Great Food, Great Ambience!!

I reached at 7:15 for a bite with my wife, the restaurant has a fantastic location, valet parking, great staff. They have seating outside (patio)t and inside, My wife wanted to sit outside, however we decided to sit in the air conditioned inner sanctum as May is pretty warm and humid to sit outside.

We started off with the tomato soup, it was outstanding, it came with the foccacia bread which was great. We ordered some falafel with hummus, the falafel was perfect, was served with humus, pita bread and lavash.

My wife ordered greek salad which was great, came with cucumbers, olives, lettuce, sun dried tomatoes all crisp and soaked it olive oil and feta cheese.

For deserts I asked for a creme brule, however they informed me that they didnt have it, So i looked at the menu and order they famous Goey, the waiter informed that they now have a Belgium Chocolate Goey, so I went for it, it was absolutely amazing!! the texture was great, it was light and came with vanilla ice cream, my wife like it so much that we came back the next day for more of it.

Ordered: Soup, Falafel, Salad, Goey
Price: 900

By far the best value for money food in the city

Moshe's is special. The food is special. It is one of the very few restaurants in the city where the Chef puts attention in plate presentation & you can really see the great thinking behind the dish design. The combination are audacious & flavourful and it costs as much as in Indigo Deli... a true bargain when we know that the most refined food that we can find in Indigo Deli is a steak (a very good one though :-)). Seriously, Moshe's rocks. I love the small house & the outside with the nice lights. Ok the dessert was off, the crumble was not crusty & very flat. Go there for the starters & the main. The fondues are a bit crazy but great & flavourful!

Disappointing

Went to Moshe's for an early evening snack before heading to NCPA. It turned out to be a mixed experience, no thanks to confused service and uneven food. Between the four of us, we ordered coffees, coolers, sandwiches, starters and a couple of desserts.

First the coffees - my cappuccino was nothing remarkable, and my friend's mocha was served lukewarm. The coolers were also unremarkable... the one called Chiang Mai had a slightly strange watery feel to it (a mango ginger combination).

The falafel sandwich I ordered was really dry, and was filled mainly with tomatoes... there wasn't a hint of pickle. The accompanying fries were overdone. It was served with the tiniest cup of hummus. I really thought Moshe's would be a good place for falafel, considering they specialize in Mediterranean, but they served up a sad excuse for one.

The rest of the food - a kebab sandwich and harissa chicken skewers were also okayish. Nothing wow.

The saving grace was the strawberry cheescake, with cream - fresh and light. The caramel-walnut pie was okay, slightly cloying.

The service was extremely disappointing... slow and confused staff. We sat inside, and were asked to shift outside because of some construction/drilling (which does that on a Saturday evening??). The outside was okay with the good weather, but then a couple of bugs, which slowly swelled to a large number of mosquitos as the evening progressed.

The worst was right at the end, when they grossly messed up on the bill. We were presented with a bill for around 1800. I gave my credit card, and they took exceptionally long to bring it back. When we went inside to check, they had added three items to the bill and swiped it for 2600 without any information. Who does that? Never had an experience like this before! I had to take a cash refund.

Also they don't accept Amex as the details below mentions.

Overall, a disappointing experience.

Good, not Great

I used to visit Moshe's restaurant very frequently when it was yet gaining popularity. Today, the food at this restaurant still remains good; however I feel the quality of their service has seen a major decline.

The selection of food, baked items and desserts is one of the finest offered in all of Mumbai. I admit, at times it is difficult to find a good blend of Mediterranean and North African cuisine which tastes so good; especially for vegetarians.

Racist Staff

My wife and I reached Moshe's early morning, like 10 minutes before they open and they asked us to wait outside till they are ready. 1 Minute later, a group of foreigners come in (without a reservation) and are seated inside, while we are still waiting outside. These guys did not even bother telling us we can come in as well. When my wife blasted them, they meekly said sorry, but again forgot to invite us in. Even the service we got was horrible, we were almost always given second preference.

On top of that, our breakfast was overpriced, lacked taste, our toast was soggy as if they had either spit in it or dipped it in water.

I understand how much people rave about it, but I would give Indigo Cafe a try. Their Service and food is better. And infact, cheaper as well!

AVOID!

..a mosheful experience

Went to this place in search of a quaint little eatery for a romantic getaway with my girl, and I was not disappointed. Along with the setting being good, the food was totally good (though a little taxing on your wallet, but totally worth it)

The place finds itself bang in the heart of the so called ‘town’ area of Bombay, just a land behind the rich and famous hotels of Bombay. A wonderfully romantic outside seating area (which we choose to skip keeping in mind the humid weather) and an equally lively inner area (air conditioned), makes this place a wonderful experience. And yes, I should not forget the high ceiling, which gives this place that high look.

Started off with a fish kebab starter (don’t remember the name , but it was Moroccon). Being fussy as well apprehensive over eating fish, I wasn’t looking forward to the same, but Mama mia !!! , those succulent pieces of kebabs just bowled me over. Melting in my mouth, the accompanying dips just slid down through my throat to evoke a warm and content feeling from inside. Aaah !! Fish never tasted better.

We jumped to the main course, with a diet coke and a Chaing Mai mocktail. The latter turned out to be a little gingery to taste, but was surely smooth a concoction. We ordered for a Chicken Panini and a Espresso Chicken.

Chicken Panini came with the standard fries and salad and was totally Italian in taste, Benissimo !!!. The Espresso chicken was finely grilled chicken snuggled in totally fab a sauce, and came with rice and bread (freshly baked in their own bakery). Gulped down the whole in a jiffy and we were left content, from the tummy as well the soul. Needless to say, there was no space for desserts and we had to sadly skip them to move out with a full tummy and a content heart.
The crowd was a typical Sunday townie junta, with the haughty aunties flashing their branded accessories while twirling their rose wine glasses to hep youth, who briskly spooned up their pasta with gulps of diet Pepsi.

The service is helpful, but not attentive to details. The seating gets a little crowded, considering it was a Sunday evening. Had only managed to get a 2230 reservation, but even at this time and beyond, the place was bustling with people. The tables do get a little too close to each other and you can overhear the conversation at the adjoining table, but who cares a damn, with the food being so heavenly.

A meal for two, cost 1300 bucks, but was totally worth the overall experience. Next time (when it’s less humid), will try lounging in the outside area .. and be expectant of yet another fabulous a date.

GOING DOWNHILL FAST

The fantastic food and quaint atmosphere is not going to save this place unless they set right the problems really quickly.

BED BUGS!!! Sounds incredible and unbelievable? True nonetheless and you could be a victim if you get a fabric covered chair, rather than the leatherette one. It took us until a third experience to realise what was happening. First, someone else got bitten. Then I did, but thought it might be something else. Then, next visit, managed to catch one of those disgusting creatures running up my sleeve after the itching began and the hives erupted. Handed it over to one of the servers, who promptly crushed it in a paper napkin and hid it away. The head server (no manager on site) said that they had fumigated the place recently because of the problem.

Service is tardy, nonchalant, inept. They count on the quality of the food and the atmosphere to have the customers come in repeatedly and get huge tips due to the cost of the food, but one needs to be almost aggressive in order to get any service here.

There was no MTNL line functioning the last time we ate here - we had to pay by cash.

No response from management about my complaint about the bed bugs. Wonder whether it reached them at all.

The staff will surely bring this place down. And if you make a trip to Colaba market, you will see where their catering is done from!

Food still very good. I will just buy their cakes in future.

Lunch..Dinner..or even Coffee

The place is inside a quaint home converted into an eatery and therefore very hard to find unless you are looking for it specifically. They have a picturesque outside section as well as an indoor AC one.

Food: It actually took me 15 minutes to study the menu since I couldn't decide what to order - there are soo many interesting items on the menu its a delight. They have everything from Lebanese to fondue to sandwiches and pasta.

One additional star is for the fact that they serve cous cous. While it is not as good as some of the other places in Mumbai just the fact its one of the few places that serve it and its decent. It is accompanied by tomato broth. Sounds weird but I asked them to make it thick like a sauce so it was ok. The paprika pasta is nice and creamy with a prominent tang of cheese.

The gooey cake while decent wasn't something that drove me to compose sonnets in its honor. The good thing is they also have an eggless version for people who don't eat egg. Didnt see any sugar-free pastries unfortunately.

Damages: Around Rs 1000 for 2 mains, coffee and dessert.

I would definitely recommend this place. While not spectacular something that leaves you satisfied in the end. Its definitely worth what you spend and a nice place for any meal be it lunch dinner or just coffee and dessert.

Most romantic eatery

Moshe never fails to impress me. The service, ambiance, food, everything is top notch!

Service: not very friendly, but quick and efficient; thats what matters

Ambiance: they've taken the theme too seriously, playing middle eastern music...its quite funny! but the place looks stunning. the open-air section is now adorned with star shaped lanterns and looks absolutely romantic. the indoor section is chic and elegant with comfortable seating and large windows.

Food: words cannot do justice to describe the food served here. you must go there and savour the flavours. Try the paprika pasta with broccoli and potato straws... omg! it just melts in the mouth. Also try the various coolers and shakes; my favourite one is the sugar-free Celcius with oven-roasted berries. The dessert counter is very tempting with philadelphia cheesecake and sugar-free pastries and carrot mazzipan and what not! The oatmeal cookies are mindblowingly delicious!

The only complaint - appetizers come in very small portions, and well the prices do pinch! But thats hardly a minus! Visit this place with your signification other.

Arrogant but the food is good

The only thing good about this place is the food. I have yet to have a bad dish there - be it starters such as Harissa Chicken or the other Chicken main dishes. The pastries are to die for after putting on tons of weight. You can avoid the fancy juices - doesnt seem to agree with me.

What sucks really is the service. The waiters are so so snooty that they think they are doing you a favor by serving you. Sometimes they will even try and fix 3 people in a table meant for 2.

I wish Moshe's would attend to the sick attitude of the service staff.

Moshe's.. Ruined a special night.

Called ahead, reserved a table for a special occasion.
The server (manager, really) just forgot about us. 40 minutes in, and only a glass of water. I had to specially get up and go to the front counter to ask them.
Another 45 minutes, and only 1 starter: the fondue, which was very good.

I specially called ahead & said its a special occasion, so please get a cake with a candle, basically make the birthday girl feel special -- Moshe's totally forgot about that as well. So we walked out after the soup.

I spoke to the manager on the way out, but he didn't even seem to be very sorry about it, more like a "oh, we're so popular anyways, I can afford to lose a customer".

Ruined the night for me.

Simply beautiful

This was my 3rd trip to this place and this time around I thought that it would be unjust if I didn't post a review this time.

The place is simply beautiful!

Had been there with a bunch of friends from office for lunch. Ended up celebrating the birthday of yet another friend who landed up a while later....

We started with a Cheese Fondue and were busy with it for the next 5 minutes. Between the 5 of us, we wiped it clean in a good under 5 mins...

2 of us ordered wine (we were headed for office after that!!)....

Main Course:

1 Espresso Chicken (Mind Blowing)....the meat was extremely soft and well cooked .... must have been marinated overnight......
1 Sea Bass (catch of the day) .... (yummy fish)
1 Beaten Fillet Steak (Yummy yummy beef)
1 Fried Genocchi (nice but wud bet better if made with penne/spaghetti)
2 Diet Cokes...
1 bottle of mineral water......
10 minutes of munching silence.....

And a Baked Philadelphia Cheese Cake with a candle...Happy Birthday

Tab: Rs.3400/- (Note: they don't accept American Express Cards)

Has a very cute ambience and great place to go with ur boyfriend/girlfriend.. But make sure u r not too hungry when u go here or u mite end up ordering 2 dishes per head.. The quantity is just about enough for one person.. And a bit pricey for the quantity...

Overall a different experience!!!

Great food, cozy place

I love the coziness of this place, and their food is really good. The service is also good. The two times I have been here, I loved it. Especially the desserts!! Such variety. The second time I was here I pigged out on the desserts! Good place.

Mais quel resto!

Ohk I would have given like 5 stars... but i have cut one star for the service which was going really well... but suddenly with time kinna started getting worse...!!!
Ohk i had gone with a friend of mine ... just to try out a new place... we liked the ambience... it wasnt bad at all... the service was good... at first.... we ordered 2 starters and a drink;
crisp arborio rissotto....which sucked frankly please dont order these...!!!
crisp potato skins were good... we thought it would be sumthin like what we get at relish... but it wasnt but it still was good...
then a drink fizz selection which wasnt like out of the world but not bad my friend dint kinna like it at all..
Garlic bread with cheese.... till date i dont rem ne place screwing that up... However it was really good here...
French fries were not good... i understand Moshes is not a place to probably have french fries...but we felt like and they had it in their menu.. so it should be decent atleast....
Moshes penne with extra veggies...was pretty good...even our fondue dukkah (plain sheese fondue) rocked...!!! it was mind blowing...!!!
Last but not the least Tiramisu Tart... once again my friend wasnt a fan...but i kinna loved it... infact the taste when u actaully gulp it down...yummmm...mind blowing...!!!!
but after our main course.. when we wanted our tiramisu and our cheque... the waiter... took a lot of time... and after we saw him getting 100 bucks as tip at another table... he was seen nowhere...not even at the other tables... probably flaunting his 100-bill to his comarades...!!! but he returned... after taking alot of our time... we almost wasted 1/2 hour for nuin... but i loved the place...
and will i go back?
of course..!!! sans aucun doute...!!!!

Romantic Dinner Spot + Good Food

Another of the romantic dinner spots in town. Located off the busy streets and away into a quite zone outside and inside the restaurant. I prefer to sit outside for the very rare places in Mumbai wherein restaurants have such a seating placement.
The fondue are very popular at this place and so are the wide range of deserts. I tried the Egyptian Salad and the Garlic Fondue, both were extremely well prepared.
One of the mocktails named - 'Mahableshwar Strawberry' was horrible and we almost asked the server to replace it. This falls in the mid price range and a meal for 2 excluding drinks would cost roughly about Rs. 1200

Its great... but...

I have a very mixed opinion of Moshe's...
When it started out of course it was THE place to be for dinner, but now - well, it's changed.

The positive is that the food is great, regardless of what people say - the food is awesome and thats what you're there for. The desserts are divine and must-haves there.

However, service - way below average. Not only is it slow but waiters like to keep watching IPL on the plasma in the back.

Air conditioning - weak, making it unpleasant if you get a table away from the ONE a/c catering to the main area.

Waiters - hardly ever in uniform but know the menu (well, some of them).

Must haves are the fondue and blueberry cheesecake.

Great place for breakfast if you wake up early enough - love those waffles.

Give it a try - focus on the food though.

No Mo she

Moshe's at the best of times is passable but last evening it was down right bad.

Ambience : Minimalism is a poor excuse to spend nothing on decor or interiors or perhaps in this case exteriors. Small tables, tacky chairs, poor lighting and an untidy, dishevelled, appearance.
With free mosquitos bombarding the place, you can be sure to take back some with you in the car to continue your biting experience ( we did!)

Experience : Well after 8 p.m., the three of us ladies went into Moshe's. We clambered up the steps and found it better to dine al fresco. Turning around, a friend almost tripped and fell thanks to the mood lighting which translates as poor visibility.

The waiters took an age to come and didn't advise us correctly on the menu. We ordered a wine for starters ( perhaps the best thing we did since it wasn't made by Moshe's) and a cheese fondu. Hours after the wine, came the fondu with one glass of chopped bread . We dipped the bread into a very salty fondu. Halfway through, another glass of bread was put in front of us. We wondered why because by this time the fondu sauce was already over! We asked for plain hummus and lavash and were told that this was not exactly their combination but they allowed us this freedom if we bought a whole packet of lavash. I have noticed from my previous experience at Moshe's when it was at the Bombay Gym, they are particularly obdurate and have the most ridiculous comibinations which they are reluctant to modify until you agree to pay more.

We went on to the main courses which were suggested by the waiter - a Penne with some red sauce and Spanish Vegetables which was some undercooked yet un crunchy vegetables served in almond sauce and served with rice.

While the Penne was distinctly undistinguished, the Spanish Vegetables is totally avoidable.

Food : Overpriced and tasteless. On the grounds of having fusion food or whatever - he passes of rubbish as good food and gets away with it!

Service : Slow and bordering on indifferent. A table next to our's asked for mosquito coils and it took a lot of convincing for the waiter to oblige.

Verdict : Moshe's should be avoided especially in the night when you cannot see what you are eating and even more dangerous - you cannot see what you have been billed for.

P.s. We went to Moshe's at Cuffe Parade only because we didn't want to spend hours in the traffic and wanted to actually meet rather than eat.But at Rs.700 per head it was an expensive meeting.

Wine & Dine, but no Kingfisher!

No complaints with the food, and the service was surprisingly good on what seemed a busy day, but why can't this place serve beer? I can understand that they don't have a liqour license, but beer, c'mon...

Went for dinner without a reservation and decided to wait out the twenty minutes till our table was ready, rather than hop over to another place. Was definitely a good choice despite being squeezed into a table for two, flanked (they could have eaten off our plates if they just reached over!) by two large, loud groups! Please, people, ask to be seated outside when you book a table...

Given their reputation, we were pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of the service this time around - we literally had guys buzzing around, ready to help.

The food which has always been good, was no disappointment - we had the humus/falafel platter and the crispy potato skins which were divine. For the main course I had the Beaten Tenderloin Steak and Roxi had the Slow Cooked Lamb. Both were yummie and we were truly satisfied by the meal.

To top off a great dinner, we each ordered a Molten Chocolate which unfortunately came rather burnt. Wanting to get rid of us - it was closing time - they tried to pawn them off saying that it would taste the same, but quickly changed their tune once they saw the quizzical look on my face. They offered to make another one despite the kitchen being closed - appreciated the effort to rectify their mistake and enjoyed the dessert the way it should be... with great delight!

Would go there again and recommend it to others, especially when you consider that at 3.5k for the 3-course meal - with a bottle of Two Oceans as the highest cost component, I think the food is quite reasonably priced when compared to other places that charge a premium in their attempt to cater to the A-list...

excellence re-inforced

On a special referral, we arrived at this quaint, cosy joint tucked away in Colaba. Lighted trees welcome you to its entrance. Enter, and a neat and romantic verandah further welcomes you. Complete with lighted candles, wooden furniture, and minimalist lighting, the place provides a thorough romantic setting sans the humidity and heat of Mumbai.

The seating inside the air-conditoned ambience is near-perfect too; small, but appreciated!

Fondues seemed to be the best-seller, but to be in tune with my latest dietary regime, we stuck to the basics; watermelon juice (Rs. 90/-), mushroom chicken, and corn soup served hot, (Rs. 100/-) extermely delectable and tender grilled chicken served with a salad, mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, and an assortment of bread (Rs. 250/-), a chargrilled chicken salad with salad leaf, bell peppers, and baby tomatoes (Rs 220/-). a veg panini with roasted bell peppers and salad (Rs. 180/-) dished out a colorful and exotic meal.

I gave the deserts a rest. but we did order a gooey chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream (Rs. 90/-) for the table, which was definitely in sync with the supreme standard of the food so far.

Cheers to the food and many more visits to the place............to explore it in its totality :)

Superlative

Moshe has been around for some time now and the food is usually always on the money. consistently good fare.

However last night they outdid themselves. We went for the old favs, gorgonzola fondue, sicilian risotto, turlu turlu, penne in almond cream.

I wish i had ordered the odd dish of the blackboard, maybe next time.

The service was pretty good and attentive. Good as always. I hope they stay that way.

Saturday lunch was wonderful

We managed to get the last ,and only, table they had available for anyone without a reservation *but* we did get there relatively early having arrived before 1pm. Others who arrived later were told there was a 30-45 min wait.

There were 4 of us, inc 4 month old Rohan in his pram. Staff were very accommodating and service was pleasant.

I was a little nervous coming back to Moshe as i was here last Saturday with a few friends and the service was below average and food so-so (maybe because we were there at 11am, the only people there and they were not serving the full menu). However given what everyone told us, we decided to go back and were not disappointed.

We opted for the new African Mezze, Grilled Veg Sandwich and the Steak served with risotto. Everything was very prepared and presented. Large servings ensured that we did not finish our meals and had no space left for the desserts which did look awesome.

Would go back but will reserve a table.

Excellent Bistro Cafe

Everything is lovely about this little place. The fact it is in an old house, complete with garden to dine in is gorgeous. The main dining area (indoors) is painted a lovely warm cinamon colour and the decor is minimal without being spartan. The menu is large (too large, I couldn't decide!) and has a good mix of veg and non-veg. We shared a cheese fondue to start and it was served in a flowerpot (how cute!) and came with more than sufficient good quality bread for dunking. Delicious but don't attempt it as a strater for one. Mains were cheese and mushroom panini, a bagel with roasted pepper cheese and a delicious fish dish we can't remember the name of!
The service was good, the whole place was spotless and there is even a take away bakery just inside the front door.
Two starters, a bottle of wine, a bottle of water and three mains came to 2100Rs. Bargain.

Moshe ..... we love you!

The man has a Midas touch. First it was Athena..then Basilico and now its Moshe's. Great setting, cozy, nice service, well trained staff... extremely well selected cellar and food EXCELLENT!

I had been their for a cozy dinner and enjoyed evey second of it. Their fish bouillabaisse soup is to die for. Although prohibitively priced at 250/-, its one thing a fish lover HAS to have at Moshe's. Their grilled chicken is good, tangine is nice and trust me you cannot find better Cous Cous anywhere in the city.

Its a sin to come back from Moshe's without eating dessert!

For wine lover they have a small but good cellar accompanied by awesome cheese and mind blowing fondue.

The place is not very expensive for the kind of food they serve and the ambiance in which they do. A dinner for two including a pint of whit wine comes to approx 1800/- and its worth every paisa.

Fantastic Place!!

Moshe's is a fantastic place! I love eating at places which create a certain decor or ambience around themselves and Moshe's does a great job. Love their crimpson walls and dark colored furniture besides the high ceiling. Being situated in an old bungalow with a small porch/lawn and outside seating adds to the pleasure. Provides a perfect ambience for a good conversation over meal.

I love the place when it is quiet with only a few people. Can get very noisy towards the evening when everybody pours in.

Have introduced quite some people to the place and keep badgering others to visit it. Maybe Moshe sould give me a free meal and drink once in a while!!

The last person I introduced was an AISEC intern from Netherlands who said that it was comparable to some of the best in Amsterdam. We had Chargrilled Chicken and a veg salad (dont remember the name)

Happy eating!!

Rishi
