Over expensive and food not upto the mark

I wish i could have written something good about this joint. The food tastes alike Indian railway catering services or Hospital canteen or less than it. On contrary they they charge you too much.

I firmly advice never ever take a chance to taste food but yes If you like to listen romantic and jazzy music then must go!!!

Went to Moti Mahal, Nariman Point with 10 friends to redeem my snap-deal vouchers at 8 in the evening and the restaurant was out of Sea Food. Its really disappointing.

Nothing great

The food is good- no complaints on quality but not exceptional. There is no ambience at all. Service is decent, waiters try hard to be helpful but overall, the restaurant cannot justify the high prices.

Expensive, nothing to write home about

Way too expensive. I understand its the business district and all but still, even for Nariman Point, the prices are way too high. The ambience is good, quite classy. Privacy assured. However the waiters are dumb and service quite slow. For the price I am paying, you better serve me well! Food wise, its passable, notably the Dal Makkhani is good, seekh kebabs as well but for that price, I would rather lunch/dine at Hilton opposite!

Not a value for Money

The food is good but no value for money. Me and my mom had gone to Ruby Tuesday which is very close to Inox. But somehow we decided to have punjabi food and the waiter their directed us to MotiMahal.
The ambiance in their is a mix of arabic, punjabi and slight of road side dhabha. All the tables were divided by some stones hooked in threads. The royal ones. I think they are one of those wanna be cool restaurants. The service is very fast but the quality of food served and the corresponding prices do not match. I had better tasting food in Delhi like joints in Mumbai. This was not a total disappointment but its like khoda pahad nikla, chuha....
To cut it short. For those who are not aware of the original punjabi food, and like udipi punjabi food, can go in and feel nice. For a hard core punju. naaah!

Over Priced, Over Hyped

Indian food-just like what you would get at shiv sagar, in fact not even that good, but atleast 4 times pricier-that is what moti mahal is-stay away atleast in times of recession like now!

de ambience nd service is of course as good as the Taj and so if u wanna pay for that, be my guest :D

many foreigners can be found here, discussing contracts and bonds and tie ups and mergers and what not over naan and biryani nd daal makhaani..but if u love ur pocket nd dont wanna feel ripped off-better go to shiv sagar at churchgate or if u want classy ambience coupled wid good food-check out samrat near HR College, Eros cinema. This one is more hot air than real substance.

Good food..3.5/5

Ambience: Decent though a bit empty despite being Friday night

Food: Ordered a panner makhani and a dal tadka. The dal was a surprising mix of yellow and black dal but tasted very nice. The panner was soft and tasty.

Damages: Rs 650 including some discount they run for lunch and dinner. Kinda pricey for 2 main course and 4 rotis.

Good place. Average food.

The food is not as good as much been spoken about the restaurant. The service is bad. Overall an average place.

still good

well, i was there last night right before the Transformers. We had a quick meal Kadai Paneer (Excellent, spicy, tasty) Nav Korma (heavy but sweetish, good) the Dal Makhani (very good again)

So overall the meal turned out to be pretty decent, no negatives at all.

Maybe you lot had an off day? Give it another shot.

Damage was aroune 1300 without drinks, which i reckon is a bit on the high side.

I had higher expectations of Moti Mahal Delux in Nariman Point, right next to INOX Cinemas. Alas, everything was just too plain jane for it to stand out in any regards. The only shining moment for MM was their service, which was prompt, and incredibly friendly.

We ordered two starters, an Achari Murgh Kebab and a Veg Tandoor Platter. It's not that they didn't taste good - they just tasted like what we could have fetched at some other average, much less expensive place. Of course, getting such excruciatingly average Mughlai/North Indian fare for the prices is very painful. We settled for a simple dinner of Daal Makhani and butter rotis. Daal Makhani was completely uninspiring and just tasted too much of a tomato base rather than the buttery lentils I've come to love. The Masala Chaas was too salty, and certainly not worth Rs 60!

All in all, if you're craving kebabs and Mughlai food, there are definitely other, cheaper and much more tempting options nearby. Head to Indus or Koyla in South Mumbai instead....

An average fare

We went to Moti Mahal last night for dinner after watching the Simpsons.

The decor was nicely done and they were playing beautiful old songs - mostly Lata and Asha. Some of the songs were from the black and white era. The Mughal food, the beautiful music, classic decor. Nice so far.

All of a sudden they started playing Himmesh and some other recent crap music. This might've been played to make Pritam (yeah that music ripoff specialist) happy. Anyways, the Himmesh music turned the entire experience sour.

We ordered a Veggie platter for starters, which was okayish. Nothing home to write about. Next we ordered the Dal Makhani, which they claim as their original recipie and some butter rotis.

A very average fare. I've been surely been to places where the Dal Makhani is tastier. Hint - Indus and Kailash Parbat.

Best avoided, unless you are dying of hunger and don't forget to bring your earplugs along :-)

Ps - just added a star for their fast and efficient service.

not bad!

took an outstation guest there a few days ago for some north indian fare. we got the usual paneer makhanwala, navratan korma, garlic naans, salad, lots of kingfisher. some prawn curry and chicken tikka.

overall the food was pretty allright. no complaints, the quality is good, the restaurant is well done and the crowd is a mix of expats and locals.

the only gripe is the service is afflicted by amnesia and they dont pay enough attention to you.

they could do with some more selection of dishes however.

overall good stuff and def better than the inorbit outlet.
