Landmark place

Having been recently shifted to Vashi, this is one of the places I have been to more than once. It is almost always crowded, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner which shows how much people trust it. Mostly the south Indian dishes are a must have here with amazing dosas, especially the Rava Dosa and Mysore Masala to be mentioned specially. Very fast service, hygienic and very much value for money.

One of my most frequented places in Navi Mumbai for a quick bite. Breakfast, evening snacks, dinner, lunch, anytime that you're hungry, just go here and you will get prompt service. Ideal for people on the move and office goers. I wouldn't say the food is tasty though. Even though its a Manglorean Udipi restaurant, the dosas are not at all good. I have never had a tasty dosa yet at Navratna (since I have a fair idea of how tasty South Indian food should be!). The North Indian and general snack items are horrible, will never order them ever! Eg: Sabudana vada, Bread toast, masala pav, potato toast, bread pakora, tomato omlette etc are extremely horrible. They should cut it out of their menu I feel. Once I threw away their potato vada in the dustbin, that's how horrible it was. However, its a fair deal for lunch (North Indian) and Pav-bhaji too is ok. Juices are not good but definitely fresh, no artificial syrups added. However don't go there for juices, since you would get better juices elsewhere in Navi Mumbai. But hold on, the place still gets a thumbs-up from me in spite of all these bad points. The only reason being, that the staff is very good including the manager, and the waiters give you really prompt service, they even change the dish if you don't like it or have any complaints, without any questions asked. Sometimes one has to wait here if it's full , but the manager sees to it that you get a table as soon as possible. Never try their chinese and pizzas, it will give you a bad stomach. But the meals and Pav-bhaji makes you feel like you are eating home food with less of oil and spices. The sambhar, rasam, coconut chutney are quite ok, idlis are good, medu vada is also good, uthappam ok but the surprising thing is that coffee whether instant or filtered are both horrible considering that it is basically a South Indian restaurant. For great South Indian food and coffees visit Matunga.
