Do not have high expectations

I had vegetarian food with family at this place. Food is decently good but it certainly doesn't match the price. I would rather drive a few kms outside the city limits and have typical Punjabi food at a roadside dhaba where I can enjoy hot parathas and rotis straight out of the tawa or tandoor with a generous amount of white butter. This place is fancy looking but lacks the Punjabiness. But then again, i might be wrong as i did not try non vegetarian food. The bottom line is 'poor value for money'

One of the best in area

One of the best in the area to enjoy Punjabi and Chinese food. I am a regular visitor to this place. Few items must try at Neelam-e-Punjab are Tandoori Promfret, lamb chops, Prawns in hot garlic sauce, Chicken and Mutton biryani. Great food, good ambiance but high price.

Beer and Kebab Platter...strictly..

this place is strategically located at WEH and close proximity to village and complex make it ideal for hangouts. but thats where story ends. the food is average and is nothing as i expected. since its ambiance is better than many nearby place we prefer to sit here for a few drinks and kebabs.

although Kebab platter is good, but they could have made the portion size a little bigger, considering the amount they charge.. Dal and Naan are ok, gravies could have been made with a little less oil.

there are many alternates available nearby and this place offers nothing out of ordinary.. my advice, stick to kebab and beer.

Nothing great to justify the price

I had decided something—that from now onwards I would write reviews on restaurants once I visit them at least more than once—because increasingly feeling that one visit is not sufficient to rate a restaurant. There might be exceptions considering the fact that I may not be able to go to that particular place soon.
So, I had visited this place thrice. And my verdict is very simple—good food and ambiance—but nothing that great to justify their skyrocketing prices. Liquor is too costly. And food-wise it is pretty good, I would rate 4 out of 5. But the high price ruins all.

Horrible Service, Horrible Food

Horrible word describes my experience here tonight. Chicken Manchow Soup was okay. Lime Water was tooooo salty... Chicken Lollypop n atish e aloo was just okay. Chicken Dhaba in main course was pathetic.. Dal Makhani (who can go wrong with dal makhani with punjab in their name) poor... awful service.. rotis n naans were cold.. will never go there again. Selecting one star coz its mandatory..

it does not deserve a single star

Noisy... Awful food... pathetic staff and ambiance is some thing u cannot comment on.. If you still wanna try it then at least listen to me and do not visit on a week end.. u will be very disappointed and humiliated by the staff`.. The starter would come to you after u are done with your dessert and the chinese would be so bad that it will feel like you are having plain salt.. and if you show your frustration on the waiters and ask them to serve the food quickly they will on their own decide which food you should have and cancel your orders that you had preferred...

I felt it was better to give away the hard earned money to a poor than have a food at neelam E punjab... Go at your own risk and ..phir mat bolna bataya nahi..

Hospitality is at its worst

Food aint that good at all

When u relate a hotel's name with Punjab, all u think about is great hospitality and awesome punjabi food, which this hotel completely lacks.

The place has decent ambiance though.

Avoid going if u can

Not-entirely-Punjab!

The place is tucked away on the first level of this mall bang before the Thakur flyover. I went on an off day so not sure about reservations and got a table quickly. The menu is elaborate and service is quick. Starters arrived in no time, but to my horror, they were cold! Had to tell the waiter to take them back and get them reheated. The Peshawari Kebab came with a veg stuffing coated with cheese which got cold and the Aatish e Aloo was the same thing, albeit inside an aloo patty which also was pale, god knows when it was made!

For the main course the veg. Badami was given a shot and was nothing but veggies cooked in bland onion gravy with peas that were half boiled! The Maa di dal lacked flavor and salt and the rice looked yesterdays leftovers steamed hard, that they lost all their goodness and looked dead dry. Roti was decent though!

Overall the food is reasonably priced for a place like this and will average 800 per person. I will give a star for the good ambience and another for the service. The problem with restaurants offering veg and non veg Punjabi food is if the veg isn't good enough, then better not risk it as many folks favor Punju food's non veg delicacies more.

But for this one, I was mightily disappointed and will give it a thumbs down!

Not recommended.

Good Food but overcrowded

Located adjacent to the western express highway this restaurant draws attention of all motorists passing by.The ambient lighting & comfortable seating arrangement is all at show from the highway; thanks to the long glass windows. The arrangement is classy & food is great. The famous punjabi dish "Sarson ka saag" is a must try here it is served as a combo with 2 "makkai rotis" & "masala chaas". Hav been here a couple of times & hav always tried new starters & each of them were top notch. The starters & main course woudnt disappoint you but beware this place is getting popular hence always crowded. On weekends at usual tummy times be prepared to wait for an hour.Since its crowded it's noisy, one can hardly experience the ambiance of the restaurant; the prices are steep; however food stands Good.

Enjoyed the food

We went for the first time to this place as we wanted to try new restaurant and it was also my husband's birthday that day. Overall, I liked the food (we had both veg and non-veg food) and service (they had given a flat beer but changed it when we complained about it). But the ambiance was not so great and even though we told them it was my husband's birthday, they didn't do anything special.

But Yes, I will definitely visit the place again, coz the food was good!

Extremely Poor Service

Have been to this place a couple of times now and every time we go, the service is always extremely poor. So, its not that one-off time when things go wrong somehow. They always manage to mess up things somehow or other. Really.

To start with, the wait times are too long, with a very poor management of people waiting.

Once, they made us sit on a table that had an AC above it, with water leaking from it! Yes, my aunt actually had to move her chair and accomodate the leaking AC as there was no other option. Apologize? no way, not their fault naa!

The attendants are soo soo rude! I just cant imagine how someone in a service business and that too of restaurants have such rude attendants. We were even told that what we ordered wasnt a good choice and that we should hurry up with our order when we were not even seated!

Even the cuttleries were missing! we had to re-use/ share some spoons/ forks!!

The place LOOKS decent but its service is crap!
Food is ok - average - kind of 3/5 stars but with the double VAT they apply, after the non-deserving service taxes, you just don't feel it worth it. If you fight with them, they even cancel the double VAT as its not legal but then, you really wont feel like fighting any more after already having witnessed their rude behavior.

AVOID!

Good for north indian food !

Best north indian food you can have in Kandivali-Borivali area.

No points for the ambiance as the place is always crowded; So you can hardly enjoy it. Staffs keeps on changing and poor management of seat allocation can make your wait more frustrating.

Prior reservation would be a sensible idea.

Unexpeceted experience

Not new to neelam a punjab, had been in vasia. But @ thakur complex i found it like udpi resturant at lunch time. Too much cacophonic (harsh voice echoing around) , as that place was crowed (as most of the resturant are). Echoistic is pathatic and to add the services was tooo slow. Food was no doubt good but ambience and service dose not make that place for fine dining...

Not worth for money.

Beswaad Khana

Neelam –E-Punjab is popularly known as Song of Punjab, so if you ever get confused in finding this place, it is not your fault!

It took us 12 calls to get a reservation at Neelam-e-Punjab (NEM) on a weekend and I finally walked in without one at 7:30pm. The restaurant sandwiched between a small diner and a cinema hall, makes for an ideal post movie dinner place. Make prior reservations, they are packed and the waiting can go up to two hours!
All the hoopla made us very curious to sample their food. And well, we were disappointed on many levels. What impressed us was the decor. It is very chic and has the classic look - silver couch seating with a white, beige and matt-sky-blue background with baroque embroidery; a look designed by a la Simi Garewal.
The restaurant is spacious, uncluttered floor space with focused lighting and reflective mirrors on the ceiling.

After being much impressed with the view of the flyover in the rain through the tinted glass and the seating, we ordered for bowls of soup, Italian Minstrone soup (Rs. 125) and a Thai broccoli and cream soup (Rs. 120). The Minstrone originally is a thick tomato based ‘big soup’ with vegetables and pasta or rice in it. NEM’s version of it was more like tomato-soup with a twist with added masala, chopped onions and garnished with coriander leaves.
The Thai broccoli soup was perfect - we could taste the pureed broccoli and with tiny bite sized pieces and the coconut milk with cream brought out the charm of the otherwise boring broccoli. The textures in the soup were impressive.

For starters along with the soup we ordered a round of Paneer Tikka (Rs. 225) and Chicken Tikka (Rs. 225) and let’s say, we have all eating better paneer tikkas in our life. A roadside vendor would do a better job. The most powerful flavor in the tikka was of ajwain but overall passable. Similar was the case with the Chicken tikka, the most dominant masala was chaat masala. The chicken was stale, tough and stringy. Both the tikkas were not well marinated and were precooked, reheated and served.

Curbing our disappointment, we prayed that the main course order would turn out fine. My fellow burrper had ordered for a Chicken Rahra (Rs. 275) which the server told us was boneless chicken in keema with onions and tomato based gravy flavored with whole spices. The chicken was horrible and would not come off the fork. The said keema was neither seen nor tasted, the rahra was a Punjabi’s version of Solapuri Gaoran chicken – bad job from the word go. When we called in the server, he argued that the onion base would have overpowered the keema and therefore we can not taste it and that the curry has to be watery and not thick. We did bother explaining that if you add keema to any curry it would thicken because the meat soaks in the juices, but all in vain!
The vegetarian Tawa Mehfil (Rs. 225) was passable, it was a basic tawa sabji but only with each vegetable deep fried and spiced with the Chef’s favorite Chaat masala! We ordered for a Punjabi paratha (Rs. 30) and a Roomali roti (Rs.40), the paratha was fully cooked, though not hot and the roomali was a folded half cooked papad. Never in any food lovers book can roomali (by it’s very name means as soft as a muslin) have been put through such disgrace.
My colleague decided to call it a day. However I wanted to try their Rasmalai and Gajar ka halwa, both unfortunately were not available. The kulfi that was available was never prepared by the restaurant’s chefs and was going to be ordered from a local vendor.

The servers mistook our order twice and funnily brought us finger bowls when we were talking of ordering dessert with half finished food on our table.

Maybe we went on a bad day, maybe we ordered the wrong dishes… or maybe we just did everything right and found NEM to be overrated.
