Best Place To Hangout in Andheri East

A perfect place to hangout with friends or family with a cozy ambiance and wonderful food.
Its one of those fine dining places which never turn ugly on your pocket. They have a limited menu, but the chef ensures that you get the memorable experience in whatever you order so pick anything from the list and you will not regret.
The liquor is also adequately priced.
The ambiance is nice and cozy but as they have a small place sometimes it becomes a bit noisy.
One of the best feature of the place is that all the rates mentioned are inclusive of all taxes so at the end of the show you will not be surprised by a twinge.
Overall my favourite place and a Boon for all in Andheri East.

Road to Punjabi food heaven: NH1

Located in the crowded suburbs of Andheri, this place definitely stands out. A must try if you love punjabi food! NH1 tries to bring the taste and memories of the humble dhabha by serving some authentic food!

Try the "moti ke daane" and you will come back for more. I would suggest that you try Chooza makhani(butter chicken for the North Indian) and palak paneer or paneer makhani with butter naan. The starters are delicious and they serve a specialty everyday.

The ambience is pretty good, although on the darker side but it still is a family restaurant. The service can be better. When we ordered they took quite some time to get our food.

Bon appetit!! :)

VFM Option for decent north-indian food

When I started the search on burrp for a dinner option, it was restaurants serving good punjabi food that I was looking for. Somehow out of all the options, landed with Nh1 K&B as the final option.

Pros : Good food, fast service
Negative : Not exactly punjabi, however the food has a north-indian flair

Damage: 850+ for a group of three (no drinks)

So far So good

Been here a couple of times with friends. Chinese food is good here. Veg starter - Bhindi Fry is very nice. The kebabs are good too.
The tables at the sides are very closely placed. Good food but the cocktails are nothing great - average.

The place to be to when hungry.

The place has excellent food [both indian and chinese].

The ambience is not the best of the lot but it is just perfect to suit the name of restraunt.

Place is suitable for family, couples and corporate lunch and dinners but I also submit that there are better places to take family and your girl for dinner.

The only downside is the Bar. Just a regular sought of bar with regular brand of vodka, rum and whisky. Limited choice for cocktails and mocktails.

All in all a good place to eat out. Value for money. Good place.

Not the place for second time!

I went to this place with my colleagues. Few reviews of this place made us go here. Maybe people who reviewed this place didn't reviewed it properly.

Once we reached there, we were not at all clear how this place will be coz it didn't look good from outside. I agree it's a concept restaurant but I was not at all impressed with the look from outside and then waiting outside the restaurant wasn't good either.

After some time we were inside and the dark ambiance was again negative point in the list. As I moved towards washroom it added another negative point. The only positive thing was the food was good but definitely not the place for second time.

Quite ok...

When your office is based in Andheri (E) on the highway most restaurants in the vicinity refuse to deliver. So NH-1 gets extra points for delivering to our office. The food was quite good... very typically Mumbai Chinese. In fact it reminded me of the Chinese we ate at Churchgate Station when in college.

We ordered Pan-fried Chow Mein which was your regular, spicy Manchow soup with noodles and chicken. The crispy chicken was strictly ok. We also ordered Red Thai Curry and Rice. Now unlike most Thai restaurants where these are two dishes, here it's one dish comprising of steamed rice and red Thai curry paste. Yes, I say paste because there was no gravy... it was a thick paste with chinks of boneless chicken. Don't get scared... the taste was pretty good.

will we order from here again... I'm pretty sure we will :)

I have been eating there since last 6 years now and thats where we spend our Friday evenings after work. Some good food, some good service and moderately priced. Try their lunch packs; some amazing chicken, oriental and indian menus - easy to eat and very economical.
The main course menu also has good variety. Thubs Up!

Just great food.

A slow and lazy Sunday got sort of frustrating and most of my friends had other plans. Got hold of a friend of 26 years and thought we'd head out for a movie and then dinner. After watching Fast and the Furious 5 at Andheri East, NH1 was the obvious choice. It was the safest of all bets, good food and quick service.

Ambience
Admist the LED-lit "sky", the overall ambience was warm and dark(ish). About 15 tables stuffed in a small(ish) hall that seated 60. The interiors were very simple and 'traditional' with low-hanging hand-made ceiling lamps. Admittedly, the chairs are a little too uncomfortable, but given a choice, make sure you sit in the booths in the center. That's where another problem arises. Since there are so many tables in that room, resulting in the tables to be too close to you, chances are you will drop some food on your clothes. But that's a small price to pay.

Food
I've always loved the food that NH1 chefs prepare. We called for a Thai Chicken starter (basically grilled chicken in a Schezwan-based sauce) - It was slightly sweet, slightly spicy and it was a perfect combination. I requested the waiter to bring me a few slices of lemon. He said that adding lemon will mess up the taste of the dish, but I insisted. So a few drops of lemon, an additional layering of Schezwan sauce, and the dish was a lot more delicious than before. We were about three-quarters of the mug of beer down and we called for the main course - Chicken Bhuna Hari Mirch (Chicken in an onion based gravy with lots of chillies) (HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended) and Butter Naans. Surprisingly, the main course arrived in less than 10 minutes of ordering and I was not even done with my beer! A friend ordered their Laccha Butter Paratha (I recommend that), and the combination was great. We then called for a plate of Chicken Fried Rice, which was just average (I don't know why I prefer vegetarian when I have Chinese or Pizzas) - The flavor of the egg took over and the chicken was used very sparingly. We finished our dinner off with a Malai Kulfi and it was one of the best kulfis I've ever had. If you go there, try the Royal Falooda and you will not regret it.

Service
Awesome. Within 10 minutes of ordering the main course, we were looking down on the table to find that the food is already there on our plates. The waiters respond very quickly and do not show lethargy, like at other places. When asked for Green Chutney, they also gave us their (highly underrated) Schezwan sauce, which was mouth watering. Let's just say that the service was good enough for a crisp 50-buck note.

Damages
A little expensive. All the food we had, and we ended up paying 800 bucks. I think they have revamped their menu since the last time I went there a few months back. Back then, it used to never cross 300 bucks per head for people who are as hungry as zombies.

Would I go there again? - Yes. No second thoughts over it
Would I go there with friends? - ABSOLUTELY
Would I go there with family? - Not really. This place was known to be an adults bar in the past and my family still carries that picture in mind.

Also, the valet guy is kind of a dick. Whenever I visit that place, he just holds the car door open even after I've sat down and started the car. The level to which people fall for a meager tip to just safeguard the keys.

Good Food!

Was here this evening. Didn't have much, but what we had was good.
For starters we had the dahi lasuni murgh teekha, which was pretty good, not too bland and aromatic at the same time.
For mains we had the murgh peshawari, which had a lil too much of tomato to my liking but was good other wise.
The rotis were hot but a tad too small.
The service from start to end was good. They accommodated us on a table for 6 even though we were 2 and they were running a packed house.

Gone down with time

Was a very regular at this place since i stay around, This place used to serve some good food, decent kebabs, and the drinks were pretty reasonable to , but since the last three times that i have been here, over a period of about 20 odd days, the quality of food has really gone down, their hygiene level need to be looked into, and i guess their business has been also affected due to this, They really need to do something about their deteriorating food quality before its too late coz there's a lot of competition around.

the food tastes really good. be it the simple paneer tikka or some fancy chicken dish.the ambiance is ok. it can get a little cramped as all the tables are placed very closely . waiters are attentive. the bar menu is also priced decently.not very expensively priced for main menu too.
overall its a good place as long as you dont mind the cramped place, full tables and the noise.

Awesome Food....

was there last night for dinner....First of all i really liked the setup at the enterance with the dhaba kind of look, with milestone set up. Despite being a tuesday evening, it was full. When we sat to order the starters served were really finger-licking tasty and then for the main-course we seeked the help of the manager and the suggestions he provided us were really great and once again the food came really tasty....and we also orderes mocktails which were once again really good....and one more thing is it that they have a very limited no. of items on their menu so a little to choose from...But the staff needs to be a little more attentive...overall its a really good place and great value for money....!!!!!

Though the ambiance is average, it is worth the experience.. The staff here is very co-operative and ask the managers for his recommendation on the dish to be tried.. trust him that u will be served finger licking good food.. The paneer prep is the softest whereas the Chicken is soft n juicy....

Evening get together place

The ambience is not great, the place is pretty congested, crowded but the non vegetarian food compensates for the short comings adequately. The curries are good and affordable. The drinks are not expensive and overall a good place to have lunch or evening get together after work. Piece of advice is that get there at 1230 if you want to have lunch without waiting for a table.

Nice place for booz and dinner

NH-1 is just a walk away from my place.
This restaurant is one of the fab and most hyped retaurants in the area. In the afternoon the place is flooded with the corporate society. The foos is outstanding , the starters are amazing. The veg food tastes awesome. I am regular at this place in the weekend and i just love it. Would recommend this place to family as well.
The dim light ambience, amazing food, and hard drinks just make my evening.

Okie dokie place

The ambience is kind of dhaba...with khat kind of tables and dimply lit...
But still place didn't have that appeal...
The ambience was not that attractive for me.

The food was good, kulfi and dal are really nice.
They don't have many options for mocktials with soda, which i should they can increase.
And also they are not listed properly in the menu.

Since there is good office crowd around, it is a nice change to visit and one of the good in-budget options around.

The service was good and quick.
Biryani is good here.

NH-1 -- Reverse Gear

i hv been hearing abt this place since many months and was looking for an opportunity to visit it - being a typical Punjabi dabha least i was expecting was good chicken tikka or some good chasslassi (butter milk )

i ordered chicken tikka and buttermilk and was eagerly waiting for my food to arrive - meanwhile i appreciated the ambiance and the idea how thy had managed to accommodate so many people in such a small area .

here arrives my food after 20 mins - AND- it was a disaster , trust me i can make 100 times better chass and tht chicken tikka was semi cooked - no taste -

then in main course some chicken prep was ok .

damage was 450 rs for 2 people and trust me it was not worth the cost -

I am not planning to go thr again , when we have so many better options available for Punjabi foods.

Guys,

Please improve upon your food Quality -

What a rip off!!

I went to this place with a colleague. The good reviews of this place made me go here. Maybe people who reviewed this place never scrutinized their bills - more on this later.

Once we reached there, they promptly seated us. We got the food and the drinks menu. So far so good.

Now the drinks menu is very obscure. They've got stuff listed rates listed against "Scotch", "Premium Whisky" etc. They won't list brands. I asked for a Black Label, they said they don't carry Black Label but would give us Chivas Regal instead. Ok, I said.

Me and my colleague had a couple of rounds of large Chivas Regal with Thumbs up. They served up the usual fare of Chakli, Cheese mini biscuits and peanuts that go along with drinks.

When the bill came, we got a shocker. The Chivas was charged at Rs. 400 per peg. The top rate on their menu for the scotch was Rs. 300 tops. When I brought it to the managers notice he started arguing with us. He said the menu was 3 years old. Bullshit. How can you charge us more than what the top rate on your menu is? Isn't this illegal? He said that Chivas is more than scotch. Again, bullshit.

Anyway, we got into a bit of a verbal tussle with him after which he agreed to "settle" the bill.

I warn you guys to check the menu before paying up. I won't go to this place EVER.

The Dhaba for Good Times

Not a place with “charpais”, no “kukkad-shukkad” eating truck drivers out here, no zooming vehicles zipping past the dim lanterns – but still this place is called “NH1 – the Dhaba” offering more than just Punjabi food (Chinese to be precise)

A small place tucked in the corporate area of Chakala, this small re-done place offers decent food than other restaurants and beer bars in the vicinity. The ambience is nothing to talk home about. A small place cleverly converted into a cosy little place. The furniture is old throwaways cleverly polished and made to fit into the whole atmosphere. The lights are dim, so you don’t notice the patchwork roof. But still as I have used the word many a times in the above text – a clever ambience.

The place wins my heart for the decent food it offers, both in Punjabi as well as Chinese. I have soft corner for this place namely because of three things
1. The chicken has always been soft and tender
2. The stewards are courteous , friendly and amicable and are good with suggestions
3. They accept Sodex Food coupons

The menu is very scanty and doesn’t offer much variety in Chinese with very few dishes which you could count on the fingers of your hands. Booze is decently priced and the major crowd puller over here. Weekdays are usually the typical yuppies that turn in for a drink and some chow. Weekends do see the families from nearby areas having a good time.

Starters are delectable and are fairly priced (Rs 90 – Rs. 120). My personal favourite would be Bangkok style Crispy Chicken. The soups are good and take the cake with their pricing (Rs 55 - Rs 70 only for a piping cup of hot soup to warm your inners)

A meal for two without drinks would cost anything between Rs 400 – Rs 500 depending on the fare selected. The quantity of the dishes is good enough to serve a little more than two people. So you don’t end up wasting food.

Thumbs down could only be the limited menu; the ambience is not something I’d consider very seriously considering the food and experience they offer at the rates mentioned. Am a regular at this place and would always be.

Lots of Choice

A good place to have a delicious punjabi meal and you have the drinks served too. So a total punjabi experience. We were a group of 20 who made it to this restaurant yesterday and upon reaching there found out that the AC was not working. The ambience gives that dhaba look with menu cards showing vehicle regn numbers and few lanterns here and there. I personally thought the restaurant can work on its lighting a bit, I thought it was a bit too dull. However, the service and the quality of the food is commendable. Imagine a group of 20 placing orders most of the time (in a span of 2 hrs) and the dishes getting served within the next 10 minutes. Simply superb!! I got to see lot of choices in starters and one of the vegeterain subzi which I relished was the Subzi Deewani Handi... A must try. The menu has been reasonably priced and the variety is umpteen. A perfect place for drinking and dining in those middle of the month days where the pocket is little tough to squeeze. But yes a good mid ranged dhaba experience.

One of the few good Restaurants in Andheri East.
The food is amazing, Ambience is pretty comfy and prices are mid ranged.
Must Tries are:
For Vegies:
The Kali Dal or also known as Ma Ke Dal ( As good if not better than what you would get in North India)
Khatte Pyaaz mai paneer.
The Kulcha Parathas are also very good.
For Non Vegies:
All Chicken and Fish items are amazing. Go for the Non Veg Platter.
Over all a great place!!

Food is amazing but service can be much better!!

Had been through the reviews on NH1 on burrp and thought why not explore this place myself and then review it cause it had been long since i had punjabi(Dhaba) food.So i called up their number to know where they were located cause the place is not too far from my house but i didnt know the exact location. So this guy with a typical southie accent answers the phone and gives me the direction.when asked if i could reserve a table, he replies saying the place is full but he can take my name down.I reach NH1 half n hour later to realise they dont have my name penned down in their register.Had to literally argue with them before they said they would accomodate us.We waited for almost 30 minutes which was expected on a saturday night. Finally got a table.

The place has been given a typical dhaba look with a bamboo roof, lanterns on top of every table(Reminds me of Urban Tadka). Also they have a menu card which is in the shape of a registeration number plate.Booze is available which is not so very expensive. The service initially was quick. We ordered Chicken Tandoori(90 bucks) and Chicken Makhmali Kebab(110 bucks). The Tandoori was kinda ok with a little portion that i was served was burnt(which happens cause itz tandoori...but then they could have been careful). The Makhmali Kebabs were amazing. They were soft and tender adding to a foodie's delight.we then order this dish called Lazeez Chicken Tikka Masala. The food took some time before it arrive. The gravy and the chicken boneless pieces were complimenting punjabi food.It was a tomato based gravy and was so good that i must admit that i have licked my fingers. But the pissing off part was when they got the naan i had ordered. The naan had just 1 piece of naan and the other piece was a roti.I call the waiter to tell him their folly, but the waiter literally asked me to join the 2 pieces together like a jigsaw puzzle to prove it was a naan, but unfortunately it wasnt. So i gave up.I order a second round of naan and it takes them 10 minutes to get it and here i am with my fingers goin dry and my plate too!!.Finally they get the naan and luckily it was nice and hot.So at the end of it all i loved the food but the service wasnt complimenting it.

The bill come up to 520 bucks between the 3 of us.Though we dint booze and eat much. Also the place is a little on the noiser side as its a small restaurant with a lot of people.I would recommend this place for punjabi food lovers. The place is pretty reasonable and i would wanna go a second time. However this time not on saturday night..!!

Pretty speedy like 12 lane

Tried it out, when wanted to have a couple of beers in the evening before heading for a dull seminar.

Just entering, the chill of the AC & warmth of the service, puts you at ease. Did not find it full at 7pm but was packed by 8 when we left.

Good prices for the drinks, the starters were lajawaab. All in all a place to hang out with the boys, for a couple of beers before heading home

Great place, every time!

I have become their loyal customer now.

Simply, because of the great experience I always had at this place.

Whatever u try, it never tastes bad and the customer service is something, that all the waiters here, live by.

They suggest u stuff, which u like. Yesterday I tried what this fellow suggested...it was called Dragon Pom Pom. Was a bit apprehensive when ordered. But its probably the only dish thats fully made of aaloo and I ate whole-heartedly.

We then 0rdered for some cocktails....Tequila Sunrise, Pina Colada.

Had a good dinner after a bad lunch at Kalash!

I will recommend this place to anyone, who happens to be in Andheri East during Lunch or Dinner time.
