Overpriced & slow service...

Had visited on a weekend & it was crowded. A bit too noisy with blaring music ; had to virtually talk loudly to my companion [who was sitting opp me] & believe me it is most uncomfortable thing to do; especially when you are in "getting to know someone " mode. We had sat on the upper deck & the service was slow. The waiting staff were in a corner discussing among themselves & had to call out several times to catch attention. When this was unsuccessful; I had to walk down to them and had to do a bit stern talking. Post that; the service was fast. Food is good and has a lively crowd. Liked the decor; especially the quaint menu with chef's / owner's comments written on it. Good place to hang out with friends; if you are game for loud music and inattentive waiting staff. suhas katti

Fire the DJ ... Please Play Better Music!!

Everything about this place is good, except the music. Saying that the DJ sucks, is an understatement! Mind you, they do have really good music equipment, which is just going to waste! The music is nothing less than garbage, to be precise. It feels like you're in a construction site with someone using a pile driver on a steel slab that is kept on your head for some reason. You can't have a decent conversation, because you get a headache 5 minutes after walking into this place. I've been here several times and never once have I had luck with the music!

This is a really nice place, but for the love of god, please play better music and hire a better DJ!!

Superb Music & Ambience but a tad Over priced!!

I visited Open House for the first time on the weekend to celebrate my birthday, as I entered Open House I had an instant liking to the place, not too big its one of those closy joints with creative decor. They do have huge screen displaying the IPL Match :)
We proceeded to start off my b'day celebrations, I had a Vodkatini with pomegranate and I was left disappointed , my friend stuck to bacardi with orange juice which was definitely priced way steep. I then had smirnoff with sprite as I didn't want to experiment anything and be let down..The starters were good, first we had garlic bread without cheese which was more like toast bread and not soft and juicy but tasted nice, the chicken satay was the best thing I had here but just three pieces :( left me wanting for more , then we had the kabuni chicken kebabs which was like chicken tikka style again a ok ok dish.. with every drink denting a hole in the pocket we decided to call for the check, it was 3k for 4 Large bacardi and 2 small vodkas + 3 starters..
Seriously , liked the ambience but the prices will not encourage me/young crowds to step in more than once.. No Happy Hours :(
Please introduce something to make it pocket friendly..

Needs better management!

For quite a few years I have been a big fan of Home Chef Cafe, so when I learnt that the people behind this place are coming up with a cafe cum bar, I was really looking forward. I visited Open House for the first time sometime during February and totally loved the experience. The ambience, the music and the food were totally perfect. I was glad that Shivaji Park finally had one such place. Since I was really impressed with the place, I thought of taking a friend who was in town over the last weekend. We stepped in at around 7:30 and the cafe had the IPL vibe so it felt great. After our starters and drinks were served, we realised the guys on the next table were way too loud, were singing songs and using swear words. When we asked the manager to request them be civil, to our surprise, the manager asked us to change the place. Well, I agree the place wants their business, but tolerating indecent behaviour at that cost isn't too cool.

Pleasant Suprise!

Living in Bandra and spoilt for choices I decided to go to a “PUB” in Dadar, after much convincing from my buddies I decided to have an open mind and explore this fairly new joint. To my surprise I fell in love with the place the moment I stepped in, It has this friendly welcoming vibe with some great tunes playing. What made the whole experience better was the fact that these guys have offers running through the week. The 666/- all you can drink beer/sangria between 4pm – 7 pm is something you cannot really miss. They have irresistible offers that cannot be missed. The bacon and cheese fries are to die for. This joint is stag friendly as well as pocket friendly and definitely highly recommended.

Cheap drinking place with decent food

I've been working in Dadar/Matunga area since past 2 years now and frankly there wasn't a good and cheap drinking joint. Thankfully we now have Open House. The place is chilled out and is perfect for post work drinking sessions. The interiors are fun and creative. Loved the different kinds of lamps that they have. They have good offers on beers and food is not bad either. Try the chicken skewers, butter garlic calamari and lemon butter basa with spinach and mustard mash. The prices are not so high and the place is a complete VFM.

Dadar! never would I have thought...

Yes, my friend, its Dadar. The area that you would portray as the local old school Marathi area has a place that plays excellent music, has crazy offers on alcohol and reasonably priced everything, be it food/drinks. Since we were a large group in the upper section, service was decent enough. Sadly enough they had run out of the Corona on which the offer was running for that day so that was a bummer. Food was actually not all that great but decent enough for bar nibbles. I wouldn't complain all that much. The whole fact that Dadar locals wouldn't have to go south to Worli/ town or north to Bandra for a decently priced bar would make this a one-of-a-kind of the area. And its the place for a casual visit anytime you end up in the area.

Nice ambiance, Bad food, Expired beer

So when you walk in this place seems really nice with friendly waiters. But the food is a major let down and over priced too. And the buy 2 get 1 free corona beer offer only exists cos the expiry date of the beer is Sept 2013.

A blessing in dadar. FINALLY!

I've been a "dadarkar" since 15 years almost, and have always been sad about the fact that we dont have a good bar around the area. The only one me and my friends know is "greens" which falls in the lane next to open house, but we never enjoyed it.

So around a week ago i heard a friend yapping about this new bar opened at cadell road. Just his description of the place made me feel overjoyed. I decided to try out the place and did so yesterday.

BEAUTIFUL would be an understatement for this place. Ambiance is amazing and the music was RAD!..(They mostly played rock..) I mean ofcourse you may find a variety of bars around mumbai with better ambiance and music, but i have a soft corner for this place mainly coz its in dadar. That is the best part!. Now dadar has something attached to it. Two three more places like this and dadar would be as famous as bandra..:p (jk)

So anyway...we entered in..the interiors are much like starbucks (the lighting), and the tables were placed in perfect order. We took a table on the first floor and straight away ordered for a pitcher. A pitcher comes for 500 bucks, and a pint of corona for 300/- . They have an offer where there is one beer free on buying 2. (Valid only on corona). The place doesnt have happy hours as such, and the drinks are appropriately priced. For a place like this, i would say the prices are decent.

Speaking about the food. I must say i found it very expensive. The rates are big and you would easily end up spending a lot on side dishes than the drinks. But again, given the area, locality, and the calibre of the place, this can be accepted. We ordered for a pizza which was sumptuous, and a portion of I-Dont-Remember-What-But-It-Was-Tasty. so overall the food was great!..worth the price. The service is swift and good and the waiters are friendly.

All said, I am overjoyed that dadar finally has one place about which i can speak about, and even hang in with some friends. Its truly a blessing.

Some recommendations i would give to the managers :
Please start serving beer in towers.
Hopefully the concept of "happy hours" would be brought in.
Events like karaoke nights would be amazing.
