Not a bad place to go to

Just back from a dinner with the wife and her friends. After researching for a decent place to go to in chembur, we ended up at Royal Orchids (also called as Wild Orchid and Orchids) Ambiance: this place is quite easy to miss and is not located at a place where you'd expect a upscalish restaurant. The decor is pretty good and the lighting is adequate and is capable of seating about 60-80 guests. Food: was pretty average to say the least. The Asparagus and Mushroom soup tasted weird and you should really request it to be a base of cream instead of the clear soup that they serve. Also the mushroom soup was too creamish and thick. Melon and Feta Salad was not good. Their Kokam Fizz mock tail was pretty good and recommended. Also their Chilly Cheese Onion Rolls tasted good with the tomato based sauce they served separately. Avoid their Bruchettas. For mains, we ordered the Tawa Mushroom and Veg Kofta Curry which were both average. To finish it off, the caramel custard was the best and their sizzling brownie with icecream was actually chocolate cake with ice cream on a hot plate Service: very slow and bad. Had to remind waiters thrice to get your bottle of water filled. Highly understaffed and they need to be more attentive. Damages: 2500 for a meal for 4 seemed expensive for the sort of service and food at this place. Anything less than 2k would've been worth it Bottom line: this is a place to go with family and would love to try it out again

A quality pricey spend- Do try the CARAMEL CUSTARD

The first thing that comes to my mind about this place is its interiors....it creates a mirage and makes it look more spacious. The crispy sliced lamb is one food I can swear on.Besides the aromatic lotus leave rice, the mixed tandoor platter, food is as tasty as ever. The price is certainly on the higher side. The service is good, the menu is varied and quantity is considerable. But do try the caramel custard dere!

Tuck into some nice Indian food

We went there on a Monday so the place wasn't packed. Word on the street says its full on weekends with a lot of waiting. The place is very well done up and the ambiance is soft and cozy. The tables are well spaced making it easy to have a nice conversation without trying to outdo other tables in volume. The paneer was soft and delectable and the potatoes were yum as well. The soups weren't awesome but not bad either. Didn't have anymore so it would be amateur to comment.

Not too bad for a decent dining experience

While Royal Orchid is not your average fast food joint, it is certainly only borderline fine dining. Having been here on a couple of occasions, I happen to try a lot from their extensive menu, that happens to stack everything from Indian to Chinese, to Thai to Italian. And like too many cooks spoil the broth, the same happens to be true with this place as well, almost literally too.

I will not recommend their soups, especially the continental ones; for; they are way too brothy, taste the same across the menu and not at all flavorful. Indian starters are worth a try, especially the stuffed potatoes with panner (one of my favs).

For a good experience with this place, I suggest stick to the Indian menu, since their continental items have disappointed me on more than one occasion. Drinks are average and best enjoyed if you just pop down to wild orchid.

Service deserves a special mention as it has always been prompt and helpful.

Verdict: A decent dining place in Chembur, best enjoyed if you want a decadent Indian fare for a meal, that too in calm and cozy settings.
