Dhaba da changa!

Papa Pancho Da dhaba a truly authentic dhaba food with the north Indian spices only to be mouth watering. A rich ambiance with the outdoor seating to be avoidable due to the hot climate.
In all a place worth visiting entirely for the yummilicious food!

Yummylicious punjabi food

The best punjabi food I have had in mumbai till now is at papa panchos! In the pretty punjabi ambiance you get lip smacking chicken ,paneer and alot of other dishes! The best thing about this place is that it offers a full thali with a curd bowl, 2 parathas and a bowl of kali daal complimentary with any dish you order of your choice at a very decent rate. Papa panchos is not only good for non-vegetarians . It offers delicious vegetarian punjabi food too! To add to the punjabipana they offer you food in authentic peetal utensils to give you the true essence of Punjab. You can try the punjabi sweet "phirni" to add some sweet to your palletes. Soo all the punjabis in the house ,do visit this place.

punjabi dhaba food at its best

This is a place where one can enjoy true Punjabi dhaba style food. the best so far. Located in the pali hill area of bandra, this is perfect place to enlighten the taste buds. Elevate your mood and get a satisfying feeling once you have dipped your hands in the finger bowl. Price's are a lil high.Valet parking available. They chage service charges and service tax is on the entire bill instead of the service charges. No tips required as service chargesare levied in the bill

Superb North Indian food with a dhaba ambience

So for all you punjabi food lovers.... this is a must go to restaurant.

right in the middle of all the hussle bussle of bandra at Pali naka.

great food...good service and good music.... u just can't go wrong with this one.

have treid pretty much all that is there on the menu in my visits over the past few years and have still not been disappointed.

Must try are the rajma chawal..... the baingan bharta.....the chole....

remember the portion of the starters and the main course are pretty good...so be cautious while ordering.

staff is ever so friendly and accommodating.
if ur planning on going there over the weekend..ensure u have a reservation else be ready to wait around for a table.

Dhaba in Bandra

If there is something that Bandra lacks, then it is good, authentic North Indian food options. Within a plethora of cafes, pubs and places serving global cuisine, finding good 'ol rustic punju food takes a hit. Papa Pancho da Dhaba fills this void.

The place is fairly small and is decorated with rural Indian motifs to give it that dhaba feel.

The food here is standard dhaba fare - veg and non-veg tikkas, paneer and chicken curries, dals etc. They also make good Sarson Da Saag, though it is not recommended for those with light appetites or for tge calorie conscious. Overall a decent, VFM, option for Indian food in Bandra.

Desi food :)

Indeed it s a place to visit , if you love typical desi punjabi food. We just stepped out for a lunch and preferred sitting outside in the open area. Enjoyed the place and time. They made us relish everything we asked for, right from the main course to desserts. I recommend this place strongly for desi food lovers who would not mind some extra calories. On a serious note, if you are in a small group and want to chit chat over food, you sure would not be disappointed. I wouldn't guarantee the services when the place is a little more crowded.

Balle Balle te Shava Shava!!

Papa Pancho is synonymous with authentic punjabi cuisine. I have been to this tiny dhaba a couple of times and not once have I left disappointed. To begin with, it has a very unique setting. Khatiyas with colorful upholstery and teakwood tables adorn the open area. The inner section is small and divided into 2 parts - lower area with 5-6 tables and the upper area with 4 tables (seating is very low here and anyone slightly taller than average cant stand upright as the ceiling is too low). The motifs completely live up to the dhaba feel as though they have been brought here straight from the villages of Punjab.

The seating is cramped up but with the feel of the place I choose to ignore that. A great deal of effort has gone into the detailing of the place right from the ambiance, seating and serving plates/glasses (which by the way are of heavy brass metal).

The menu comes to you on a board and the specials of the day are scribbled on a slate with chalk. The menu is every bit punjabi that you could think of. I've always been a fan of their main course. I've tried Chicken Makhani, Bhuna Ghosht, Rara Paneer and Chicken Saagwala. They come with Parantha/Rice, dal makhani, curd and pickle. The mains are juicy and succulent. No complains here! Dal makhani is rich and creamy. The whole thali is quite filling if you just add an extra parantha. If you are at any dhaba you HAVE TO order a Lassi or else you can't claim to have a punjabi meal. Its the same here. They serve one of the best lassi's around which is oh-so-thick that I always have to sit an extra 5-7min to slowly gulp it down.

The service is a little slow considering the size of the place but the staff is quite responsive. The rates are affordable and an appetizing meal for 2 should be anywhere around Rs 600-Rs 700. If you are looking to have a quiet meal, chuck this place since it lives up to the theme - fun and loud.

Not bad at all !!

I was apprehensive when I stepped into this place, but when I saw the way the food was served on the other tables, I was all eager to try it out.
The interiors of the place have been done up very well, with a spiral staircase winding up to a mezzanine floor. The food is served in traditional thalis, which adds to the experience.

The order:

STARTERS/ CHAAT :
Paneer tikka
Veg shashlik
Gol gappe

MAIN COURSE:
Ra ra paneer
Naulakha subzi
Amritsari kulcha
Alu paratha
Cheese kulcha
Dal khichdi

The veg shaslyk and paneer tikka are good, with the smoked flavour coming just right.
In the main course, the alu paratha is worth mentioning. Served with curd and pickle, you can definitely go for seconds.
But the piece de resistance is the dal khichdi which wins hands down!! Hot and tempered with the right amount of ghee, it melts in your mouth....definitely a must try !

Balle!

Extending the finest experiences across fine dining and restaurants, and being home to a diverse range of urban youth and cosmopolitan lifestyles, is Bandra.

Although it offers a plethora of various international and local cuisine, there’s always the deep satisfaction one derives from authentic Indian home food. Punjabi food is usually the healthiest and most preferred Indian food nevertheless.

Papa Pencho is home to anyone who craves and is comfortable to the most authentic Punjabi food and cuisine. The restaurant is very comfortable, airs a simple and friendly feel of Punjab and the delight of hygienic home food with copper plates and a filling mega-glass of lassi.

Choices of where to eat are almost a weekly phenomenon in most of our lives. Indian food is usually the most comfortable choice to make.

If you are not Punjabi, this is the best Punjabi food and with a very healthy and clean kitchen.

If you are Punjabi, its almost home food.

Priced very reasonably, it is most endearing even for a regular food eatery.

havent eaten here? you havent eaten anything then!

Papa Pancho Da Dhaba - Very few places I have eaten in India know the difference between Punjabi and Mughlai food. This is the probably one of the only places where you get great authentic Punjabi food and thank God, its next to my house!
The Kadi, bharta, the parantha, the dal makhani, dal tadka, the chicken, the mutton and the paner burji are all par excellence.
I run a small office nearby and that's where we all go for food when we need to celebrate.
Also, stationed in Bandra, i find the food very reasonable.
Papa Pancho ki Jai ho!

this is the place to go to when you need a hot phulka with white butter and kaali daal and some awesome mutton on the side.

The pichki arbi stands up to the mutton and wash it all down with some chilled lassi and youre in heaven.

Once in a bluemoon option

We visited Papa Pancho after couple of years. The quality of food has surely deteriorated over time and in no way is close to the niche dhaba with authentic cuisine it used to be. Now a very run of the mill kind of place with a typical punjabi taste, oily food served in old brass utensils. The ambience outside has obviously taken a knock due to the famous Gasper building vs hoteliers issue.
Above all, visit if no option, food is not bad but not great.

A okay okay place..

I visited this place on a saturday night just because I was hungry and had no plans of visiting a specialty place. This place is justa bout average with equally average food and service. But the level of hygiene maintained is horrendous. The place is extremely cramped. I wouldn't visit it for a second time.

BEWARE OF VALET PARKING

The food is average Punjabi food. But beware of both the Management and the Valet parking staff. The valet staff caused a certain damage to my car. On inquiry, the owner and management said they would take care of the entire situation. After having paid the bill we were told that the Management will get back. After a whole lot of days of following up, I was made to talk to the Valet who caused the damage and got to know that he was forced to pay for the damages. i am surely not visiting this place again.

Great Food

Delicious food and good service , ordered the paneer bhurji (good), naulakha sabzi (Excellent) Sarson Da Sag (Excellent ) and very light Makke di roti (excellent) and mutton Seekh Kabab (Cooked to perfection). I'd say, brilliant food . We also ordered Samosa Chole (excellent) Gol Gappe that felt like just the authentic punjabi food . Unlike other Punjabi restaurants in Mumbai which have heavy food Papa Pancho food is like eating home cooked delicious food . On the downside the phirni was very dry. A must visit to enjoy Punjabi food.

They have delicious food and great ambience, ordered the paneer bhurji , naulakha sabzi and mutton chili and it tasted heavenly. It is very often that icrave for authentic punjabi food. Papa Pencho helps me do just that. Eating at other places makes me feel sick, but, Papa Pencho serves food just like it has been cooked at home. I could eat their dal, paneer and mutton everyday it's worth every dime. A must try.

Papa Pancho!

Well, I had heard of this place when Prahlad Kakkar had spoken about it. He is one of the owners of this restaurant and was speaking about how to have a catchy name and still ensure that he gets his licence from the government.

Me and three other friends went here and thulped! We couldnt complete what was served and the food was delicious. We ordered a couple of veg curries and some chicken dishes. These come along with Dal Makhani, curd and 2 parathas. The Paneer dish was really tasty and filling. To add to all this, we had a lassi each as well.

In all, a great place to go to. The service was a little sad since the waiter outside kept letting other people in before us. The place is small but the ambiance is good. A good place to hangout with friends but not for a group above four in number. We paid around 400 each and exited with a smile on our faces.

Good food

Food is good, meal for 2 costs 500-700 bucks. Good place to eat once in a while. But if you plan to go there with lots of friends. This is not the most apt place since it is small. The place is not great but not bad either. On the whole if you want to have Punjabi food in Bandra this is the place to go.
(P.S. Be prepared to wait in queue for 30-40 mins if you plan to go on a weekend.)

Place to take guests

I take all my westerner/ tourist friends there since its a clean punjabi affair - just the kind they have in mind. So far i haven't been let down and the ambiance is a little funk. The stuffed kulchas , jal jeera and dal cant go wrong, A tad too overpriced but its cozy and the quality of the food is consistent, not a binge place for me but works well for all my guests.

Expensive! Poor Service - waiter keeps looking out for the tips, doesn't get your water on time, valet service asks you to fetch the car as you walk out by yourself. Average variety of food, ambiance is plausible, expensive food and small portions.

not at all even 1 % Authentic punjabi , taste more like south indian . the chicken is raw , i had n the dish 2 times to get it done well and even still i realized that they add just chicken fat - the rubber part , poor quality of oil , the tandoori is stale made like years in advance , the phrini is way expensive , service is slow , found bugs and flys in the restaurant , the nan { rotis } tasted like eating plastic . i have just had 2 spoons of the stuff and walked away i told them it was not good and was horrible , he told me i still have to pay the bill and give me 10 bucks off .

Just about average

Me and my friends went there on a Friday night, at around 9 pm, and luckily there wasn't any waiting. We called for the sarson ka saag and chicken rara. The food arrived in 20 minutes. I'd say there wasn't anything exciting about the place. The decor of the place though was slightly above average (but wouldn't qualify to be different, distinct or fresh) Same old boring idea, same old boring menu, same taste like many other punjabi joints and same way of serving. The only thing that didnt take the beaten path was the dhol nicely hung on the adjacent wall and the funny costume of waiters. Sorry but this place is pathetic. Just the name seems attractive and the fact that Mumbai has many rich brainless fools who fill up such places on a weekend and do not mind spending 250 rupees for something that should ideally be priced in the 150-200 range. So when one sees a nice attractive looking place, with an attractive name and attractive crowd, you tend to enter it and hope for a good time. But i'd say it is an absolute waste of money, time and expectations.

Great food and ambience

It's the only originally decorated restaurant in Bandra I know (most restaurants here have either simple or a formal style) - it feels very cozy inside.

The best veg pulav I ever had in Mumbai, plus amazing veg raita, plus great dal makhani and good kulchas. The only cons are high prices and low variety of drinks (they don't serve alcohol drinks but at the same time don't offer many beverages)

I recommend this place, especially for foreigners and tourists!

Nothing great

The place is located opposite a famous gym in Bandra. Good. But its tough to notice it. Its a small conjusted place. The seating arrangements inside aren't cool either. They have a table just below the staircase and ones just aside the door which are a very disturbing and uncomfortable. The mezzaine part is very small and has limited tables again.

Lassi is good - the only thing i liked.
The other dishes are below average. Am sure I'd get better Paneer Makhanwala's elsewhere. The lacchha paratha did not taste/look like lacchha parataha.

The waiters were dumb and the service was slow.

Not recommended!...

I've been to papa pancho numerous times.I like the ambiance since it is pretty unique. It is also unhygienic but that is the reason for its authenticity. Food is good. Amazing Rajma chawal n amazing kadi chawal!!
Loved the food!! IT gave the feeling that the food was completely amritsari. The Quantity is more than required, and the best part is that they serve Dal mahkani and curd with almost every dish that you call for. They serve food in the authentic plates and handis. Give the meal a perfect end y complementing it with a gulab jamun. I'd say it is the best Punjabi food available.

PAPA POHONCHO!!

So it was time for a family dinner, a huge family and a late dinner, already as much confusion as one needs. Papa Pancho, delicious food and amazing VFM or so we always thought, it's funny how when one thing ruins an impression all other things don't seem as good as they did before!
So my sister waited for the waiter for forty-five minutes and had her guest leave hungry!!!!
The service even after that didn't improve! Slow and aloof that's the verdict!
People that walked in after us got their dinner served first, the platter of starters served with parathas as written on the menu but obviously wasn't served with parathas because you my friend need to specifically instruct the waiter to follow what's written on the menu!! Bring the parathas with the platter!
Drinks were confused, forks and spoons missing,
I guess it was 'cause it was a crowded Sunday yet is that really a good enough excuse?!
Finally when my sister started to loose it, Dad had no choice but to declare, Papa Pohoncho khaana leke jaldi Pohoncho!!

Good food, bad service

It's a tiny, congested little place, with tables both inside and outside. The have preset thalis ranging from aroud 230-260(non-veg) on their menu, which is sufficient if you are decently hungry, and not so if you're famished. Also, they take orders till around 1AM, which is a good thing.

We ordered for the very predictable Chicken makhani, Paneer Tikka masala, Rajma Chawal, and were not disappointed. brilliant Punjabi food. Their matka kulfi is yum too, but with yummier frozen yoghurts available next door, you might find yourself in a fix!

The only irksome part was the service. The waiters had to be called out to like 10 times, for taking order and for serving water. And the place wasn't particularly crowded either. They have these tiny 'lotas' they serve water from, which they fill from a water cooler, while you wait and wait.No jugs on the table.

Got me to cheat on my diet!

Sarson ka saag, hot, thick paranthas, fresh nimbu paani & really good tandoori chicken is what got me to cheat big time on my strict diet. Am not sure why this place is rated poorly (below), but this has really good dhaba ishstyle food! The ambiance is nice for small restaurants as per Bandra standards.. A good to go place with office colleagues for a bitch-fest or to meet out for a casual date. Privacy is zilch here. Loved the cutlery, the really good service (were very accommodating to my 4 yr old cousin), their non-veg fare is surprisingly authentic and not to mention the very colorful kurtis worn by waiters!! YES! The phirni for desert is tasty, though over-priced for the quantity. Rest assured main-course is a filling & huge affair. The jeera-golis served at the time of presenting the bill, was a great idea.. I woke up with a really guilty conscience this morning but highly recommend popping over to papa poncho!

The Worst place one can ever be to!

RATED ONE AS I COULD NOT RATE IT ZERO!

Boss trust me on this one no matter what happens never be to Papa Panco, the place iks actually the post Pancho place i have ever been to.
DIRTY FOOD
DIRTY AMBIENCE
THE RUDEST STAFF YOU WILL EVER SEE
THE WORST SERVICE YOU CAN EVER HAVE
THE MANAGER IS THE MOST UNHOSPITABLE MAN on EARTH

The food is so bad and stale most of the times, the rotis are half uncooked and the people are not willing to accept any of the problems in the food. The Handi paneer was hard balls of chunna dipped in tamato sauce. We walked off leaving the food untouched and paying the full bill. Still the staff has the guts to act rude and pass comments which were aptly given back to them.

AND YES THE PLACE STINKS AND HAS DIRT AND MOSQUITOES ALL OVER

The food was o.k, the usual culprits on the menu. I enjoy north Indian food so I am probably biased. Tandoori chicken was my favorite. Also, Mumbai's first Cocoberry opened right next door to this location. Amazing frozen yogurt. Better than anything I have ever tasted. It's great to finally have a great just desserts place where one can enjoy without feeling guilty.
