whoa...

Persian darbar is a place where you need to first prepare yourself and be hungry so that you can complete a meal. The quality is brilliant, but the quantity is way too much for one person to complete one plate. If you plan to go hear and you're usually the person who has light meals usually, but dont mind having a heavy meal, prepare yourself.

The only con is that I wish the chicken tikkas were of small size. One piece of tikka is probably equivalent of 2 tikkas. that's a lot. Even some non vegeterians may not like such a large chunk of chicken on their plate, but to each of his own. It doesn't affect the quality of the food.

One of the rarest places, after cafe noorani in south mumbai, who doesn't use thick coat on the meat. poor food. Just make sure that you come at either 1pm for dinner and 8.00-8.30 for dinner if you want grab a good place to eat. most of the times, people come in groups to either have a LOT of food, or 1-2 raan briyani.

Thumbs down

Persian darbar is preffered just for the service they would provide but this time they let us down

We ordered chicken Hot and sour soup which hardly had chicken in the soup and the on complaining to the manager he replied back saying that it was because minced chicken was used in the soup.

The waiters were rude - with the worst attitude i must have ever seen.

We called for the crispy chicken - which was good.

We also called for chicken barbeque. The ingredients were similar to Chicken chilly and the dish was not very exciting.

The final item was Raan chilly Rice - which we were quite positive about but were disappointed The Raan was small and the murg mussalaam would have been a better option.

We ordered for 3 bottles of the 300 ml Thumbs up and asked for it to be divided amongst 6. The thumbs up was flat with no fizz.

Will never visit this place again. Their service was horrible inspite of it being our 9th visit.

Expensive than the Byculla outlet

Tried the Murg Jalandari Kabab which was spicy but the chicken was not tender. Tried their specialty Chicken Chilly Kepsa which was good!
The prices are definitely much higher than the Byculla outlet.

Huge Quantity, Great Food

Persian Darbar, is one of the most visited restaurant in Bandra. Great food (only for non-vegetarians), average ambiance, great quality, huge quantity, and a bit heavy on the pocket, a must try. The Chicken Banjara Kebab is a must try.

worst service

Our recent & last visit to persian darbar was on 22/07/2011 & after waiting for nearly 45 mins we were finally allocated a table for 7. However post we placed our order for starters we were asked to vacate the seats and wait for few more mins as there were people on the other table expecting few people to come in from the outside. This was an embarrassment for all of us but we quickly vacated the place since they politely had asked us to do so. W e were then given a table for 5 and were asked to seat ourselves with an extra 2 chairs added. On having a word with the manager we were rudely asked to wait if we wanted a seat for 7. To top it all, one of the waiters asked us to decide and do the needful since there were other customers waiting. We decided to leave and visit another restaurant in the vicinity. The place only last frequent customers with their behavior.

Stale food and decade old afters

My last visit to Persian Darbar was on 21 June 2011 and the food was pathetic. One of the dishes we called for was Fish Kepsa. The fish was absolutely stale. In afters, we ordered for the Mango Milk Shake, which was not at all edible and tasted like it was decades old.

Good!!

If food could kill, then this would> I was brought here by a friend who highly appreciated the place with respect to its portions. The front facade of this eatery is anything but highly recommended looking at which I was into a dilemma whether to go in or retreat back!!

Finally deciding to take the plunge, having traveled all the way to this unassuming little place, we called for the chicken Kepsa. We almost i choked in disbelief at the portion. The quality of food was good too. The staff is is courteous, friendly and is total VFM.

Caution: Dont go by the exterior of this place.

Just about ok for vegetarians

I didn't have much choice, being a vegetarian. The triple Schezwan fried rice was generous in portion but dry. The service was good and quick. The ambiance was OK. The location is a huge advantage to the restaurant. The place tends to get a bit crowded on holidays and Sundays.

I love Persian darbar's Raan Rice. Huge portioning good enough for 6 ppl comes at a cost of 800 only. It's great value for money.

Full marks to their Customer Service!

Excellent Customer Service!

I love Persian darbar's Crispy Chicken. the quantity would suffice 4 and the exotic taste of well marinaded chicken melts in your mouth like a soft ice creme. Their Murg Musalam is perhaps one of the best in Bandra.
Being a Bandraite I m proud of this gourmet's treasure trove on Linking rd. And wow what excellent reshmi kababs!
Full marks to their Customer Service!

pull the flush

Have had food 2 times from here. The butter chicken was horrible and we started to suffer from acidity and a stomach upset, the naan was burnt and bitter , the Biryani was not cooked properly and was a little too bland.

Raan recommended

More is merrier certainly rings true when dining at Persian. You really need to come here in a group of atleast four to have a wholesome experience.

On weekends expect to wait 15-30 mins to get a table and no matter how large your group, the waiters will find a way to accommodate you. You may feel that the place is a bit cramped when you first enter, but that is nothing compared to how cramped your stomach will be when you leaving after your meal.

Saying that they have a large menu is far from the truth. If you add a couple of more pages, you will have the makings of a decent sized novel. Its that staggeringly vast. And there are some items which sound quite astonishing, like the 'bakra biryani' priced just over rs 4000. That sounds so mesmerising that I hope the bakras killed for preparing this dish get 72 bakris when they reach heaven.

In my opinion nine out of ten times you should go for one or more of the numerous raan dishes on offer, and their excellent murg musallam on other occasions.

If you are feeling especially hungry, the delightful crispy chicken, crispy prawn, lamb chilli etc are great choices for starters before eating the raan.

The service is great and the waiters are really friendly. And on the price front, this is real bargain. The raan dishes cost rs650-700 and can easily fill up four people.

Not for Chicken Biryani

We had been to this place last weekend. Wanted to try some kababs and the waiter suggested Chicken Nawabi kabab. It was something I had never had. There was minced chicken stuffed into thin slices of chicken. It was good but a little too heavy on the stomach. We ordered for chicken dum biryani of which we were pretty disappointed. The chicken flesh in biryani tasted like duck meat and did no taste anything like the dum biryani.
This place is surely not for biryani lovers

must try

Had been to Persian Darbar, Bandra, with friends. We reached there at 8 pm and managed to get a table immediately. Pst 8.30, the place is a nightmare. We called for the raan on the captain's suggestion. The raan costed us 700/-and served 4 people. It was total value for money.

Raan...period!

I already have reviewed the Byculla branch of Persian Durbar in detail. Went to this joint for hanging out with friends over raan. The raan is awesome and value for money! Rs700 of Raan & Rice fills up 4 people easily and I had to doggy bag the rest! The place is congested though and nightmarish in the evening. I prefer their Byculla branch over this for ambiance but food is equally good in both places.

Raan Rocks...

This place has got the largest assortment of dishes I must have seen. It is not disappointing either.
One of the best places for Arabic food, their Raan specialties are a must try. They also have great Crispy chicken served at this place. The Full chicken murg musallam is a good dish for rotis. The place maybe a little cramped but can be overlooked with the kind of food it serves.
