Quiet and awesome

It's very close to my house and I only recently went there to try the Taste Of Europe menu. The place is surrounded with greenery and is away from the traffic which is the best part. It's a casual diner and has a great menu. We tried the rucola salad which was fresh and crunchy. The pasta was cooked al dente and was just perfect. The best one was seafood broth with country bread. It was a great meal.

very expensive

For an Italian restaurant in a 5 star hotel, the place lacks a few things. The immediate put-off is the menu that is handed over. The pages are torn at places, folded, and dirty. The pages are loosely tied in a folder to create this menu, which makes it difficult to read and turn pages.

The décor is unbecoming of an Italian restaurant, so is the wine list. The food selection was average, however what we ordered was really good except for the risotto (which was very dry).

The only positive was the staff, who were very helpful and attentive.

Great Place, great service.

Planned to take husband for his birthday surprise lunch to Prego. Was welcomed by warm staff and quick service. the food is really good. We had the vegetarian Pizza and lasagna... with a mouth watering cheese starter. We were served in less than 10 mins of ordering and were out of the place in less than 40 mins.

Comfy seating, good staff, great food. Spent 3000 bucks on 3 dishes.
overall a good experience.

Dikhawe pe matth jaao apni akal lagao.

Went there after long hours of work and meeting to chill down with my Clientele buddy over a glass of Cold Coffee and Creamy Tiramisu Cake. Well, presentation was very pretty and neat; however both disappointed us on Food quality and taste-wise. The waiters were very dumbfounded like they were unaware what needs to be done next.
My overall experience with them was sad and it was not up to the mark as expected from The Westin.

Better step out and go to Oberoi mall and gorge on your favourite outlets over there. :D

Valentine loved the surprise

I surprised my valentine on 14-Feb.
She really enjoyed each and every moment.
We ordered 1 pizza Giiardiniera and 1 pasta.
Both taste awesome.
2 small peg of jack denial 7. (awesome taste)
Food - 5/5
Ambiance - 4/5
Service - 5/5
Only concern is it is very expensive.
Pizza were around 625 and pasta around 575.
1 small peg of JD 500.
2200 + taxes = 2617.

But for some1 who can not afford every time could definitely try once in a moon time.

impressive lunch

Was here about a week back for lunch with my bosses and what an experience it was.
We asked for a quick lunch as we had to rush back for lunch. The guys there suggested to go for a set express lunch. Amazing food taste and fast service impressed my bosses. They were all happy for my search. and to top it up the bill made me happy. so less amount for so much. will always be back to prego.
heard they are started wit some barbecque on saturdays, week end with family at prego.

Good lunch buffet deal

Went here for lunch this afternoon. We tried the Chef's special set lunch menu which is priced decently at Rs. 695 + taxes. The vegetarian option on the menu consisted of the an Argula insalata with shaved Parmesan cheese, a tasty thin crust pizza Margherita and a gelato to end the meal. The freshly baked bread that they served at the beginning of the meal was delicious too.

Overall a very good experience. The service was flawless. The price decent. The only place where we felt ripped off was the Rs. 250 for an ice-tea, but the sumptuous lunch more than made up for it.

This place is highly recommended.

Expired Milk almost caused my expiry

I had been to Westin Prego restaurant on the 13th of August. The number 13 turned out to be as bad as it is made out to be. It was a day of utter bad luck thanks to Prego.

I ordered a capuccino which was served to me on time. However the milk in that cappucino was stored by Westin for a long long time. It was spoilt which I realized after gulping down the Expired Capuccino. Due to this, I had food poisoning with upset stomach and a throbbing headache.

If you ever do go to Prego, please only limit yourself to the Water there. But ensure it is a Bottled Mineral water and check the expiry date on the bottle of Mineral water too.

Thanks Prego. You have made sure that I will never forget you in a very awful way

Biggest mistake of our life!!

So it was Crap. Actually its an insult to Crap. . With every dish they managed to shock us with how bad it could get. Every time we thought it couldn't get worse, they managed to prove us wrong. It seemed that they were doing their best to make sure we didn't leave satisfied. GUESS WHAT they succeeded. Bravo and congratulations.
Lets get into specifics. First came the salad 'Insalata Mista'. It was full of lettuce and three counted olives. Then came the starters 'Brushchetta' which had just five bread pieces. We had someone who ordered Jain food. Now i understand you cannot expect a lot with Jain food, but just giving undercooked Penne in tomato sauce doesn't help. Undercooked food was the theme of the evening. They somehow couldn't manage to make the Gnocchi without mushrooms. About the mushrooms, when they say wild ones, they mean it. Seemed like they just picked them and put them in the dish. On second thought I think they just directly added it to the Gnocchi dish bypassing the whole cooking process. Very creative. The next came the lasagna. Layers and layers of pasta and thats it. You literally have to look for some vegetables there to make it edible. We thought we had hit rockbottom and it couldn't get worse. But hey they had more in store for us. Next comes the Rissotto. Perfect combination of undercooked rice and partially boiled vegetables in what seemed to be a cheese sauce. I prefer my home made masala khichdi and you know what i don't have to pay $650 + taxes for it. We survived this and braved ourselves for some desert. No surprises there. By now our expectations were already lowered so much that we didn't really care. But we didn't realize is that they don't care much either. One of us ordered the Gelato. Now unless i have had something else for Gelato all my life, what they served was anything but it. Here's a tip Prego, just by serving chocolate ice-cream with some chunks in a fancy crystal cone, doesn't make it Gelato. How can you get such a basic thing wrong. Here comes another one guys..Gianduiotti..this desert was literally like a 'Naan Khataee' with some stupid cream on it.

Guys please save yourself from such places and spread the word

Passable !!

The property is amazing. Truly WESTIN style as you can see abroad.

The Pizza was decent; but still not that good to overthrow Spaghetti Kitchen or Indigo-Del at Lower Parel.

Pizza lovers going in big numbers may want to try the God-Father Pizza that is huge in size and costs about Rs 1K plus taxes.

The Gnocchi Ai Funghi was the highlight of the
evening. Great tasting but woefully inadequate quantity.

The service is very friendly. Good Staff. Clean place. WESTIN trademark.

If you are looking for VFM eating. This is not the place.

Great Brunch!

I do like my brunches and the trip up to Prego was well worth it. Bright and airy restaurant, great fresh food, convivial staff and great chef's make it stand out. They serve international meats (beef, lamb) which you can order from the deli counter and serve impromptu table choices that show off a range of their fare - very clever because you know you'll be back. Good wine also and some of the largets cocktails I've seen!

Prego - do mention it!

Prego means a variety of things in Italian, in particular "Don't mention it!", but you really should mention it. Mention Prego lots!

We visited the Westin after I'd surveyed the facilities in readiness for my big boss's visit to Mumbai. (The hotel is fab, by the way.) And after the reconnaissance mission was over, I was more than keen to come here and try out the facilities for myself.

Starting off proceedings in the 18th floor atrium bar was more than satisfactory. A quick look out of the floor-to-ceiling windows of Seasonal Tastes (one of two neighbouring restaurants on this floor) provides an amazing view of the, wait for it, yes, the Western Express Highway! How marvellous the sprawling metropolis of Mumbai looks when viewed after dark. And how relieved I was that I wasn't stuck in the snaking traffic 18 floors below

And so to Prego - the staff worked in perfect unison as they seated us, provided us with menus to peruse, and delivered bread, water and took our drinks order. Recommendations were free-flowing, and welcome. And the staff were more than eager to please. Similarly, wine recommendations came from staff who had experience of wine, and showed obvious signs of attending a wine appreciation course, which was a nice surprise to find.

Food was soon underway, and the starters we tried (calamari) hit the spot nicely. To follow we sampled one of the chicken rotisserie options - think spit-roasted and cooked to perfection.

Once the food was safely stored in our bellies, the restaurant ambiance began to pick up. First was a nearby table who were celebrating a family member's birthday, along with staff serenading them with an impromptu burst of "Happy Birthday" whilst delivering a cake.

Next, we were offered a "Flaming Tower" - a lethal-sounding cocktail by anyone's standard. We graciously declined, but the waiter did not lose any of his selling skills. He came back with an offer we found more difficult to refuse: solve a coin trick and 'win' the Flaming Tower!

Well, that was like a red flag to a bull for my friend and so we were signed up and trying to figure out the answer to the puzzle - in just 2 minutes. Needless to say, the wine had already taken a toll on my work-weary brain and so answers to puzzles were very slow at coming ;o)

The waiter came back and asked for the answer to the puzzle. I should say at this point that if we failed to solve the puzzle then we were obliged to order a "Flaming Tower". I'm embarrassed to say that even after the waiter showed us the answer to the trick, we still couldn't replicate it!

So, bring on the "Flaming Tower"! I won't spoil the spectacle, which it truly is, but you end up with a stack of 4/5 glasses placed in front of you, and then the lights go out, the spectacle begins, and then you get to drink your prize!

Now for the health warning: If you plan on doing this, make sure you have some Crocin by your bed for the morning after ;o)

Overall, if you want an entertaining night out, then this is the restaurant to come to. It's entertainment without the cheese of other "fun" or "theme" bars or restaurants. And it won't break the bank neither.

Prego is also where their Sunday brunch takes place. Note that this is fast-becoming a local legend - where else would you find brunch fully booked almost a week in advance anywhere else in Mumbai? And now I know the reason why.

Come here once, and you will contradict the name of the place in an instant. You just won't stop talking about it!

Save this for a special date...

Like your anniversary or something - its frightfully expensive. Dinner for two - 1 starter, 1 pizza, 2 alcoholic drinks set us back 2.8k! And this is my third visit, so I kinda know what to order - so inspite of that nearly 3k for food is! Oops, started on the wrong end of it.. Lets backtrack.
I recommend this place for dinner (dunno if they are open for lunch) - the leadup to the hotel (Westin) entrance is really beautiful at night - subtly lit trees and all of a sudden - an imposing entrance. Just driving through the gates, you forget you were just driving in one of India's busiest cities.
The ambiance is really good. High ceilings, open kitchen, muted, soft music, large glass walls overlooking a deck and the dark color scheme all add to a great place to be. After the numerous cramped restaurants of Mumbai, this is one place you can really chill and relax. Impressive.
The service is really good, they take the trouble to remember you by sight, too! If a guest inadvertently breaks a glass or something, all the staff clap. Dunno which is more embarrassing ;) The first time you are there, like another reviewer wrote, expect them to bring out their loopiness factor of masks, photos (they give you a copy), songs etc. They pretty much leave the sloppiness aside next visit onwards (not complaining here, the first time is fun but the next would have been overkill).
The food - some of the best Italian in town. Although they have limited vegetarian selections, they work well. Limited selection of starters, though. Their bruschetta is very innovative and yummy - be warned though, there are only 3 pieces. In the main course have tried the gnocchi, pasta and the pizza there and while all of them very really good, I was blown away by their pizza. They have a wood-fired oven and the pizza was crisp and the thinnest I have had! Simply drool-worthy - we practically inhaled it! The dessert selection, like the starters, are limited. The tiramisu is good but nothing like the one they serve at Moshe's. Stick to the gelatos if you want dessert.
The drinks - I love the bellini they serve and the rest of the cocktails are good too, but at 500 bucks a glass weigh in heavily on your bill.
Overall, I would definitely visit this place again - but again, only for special occasions and on days when driving all the way to Bandra or to South Bombay seems a hassle. Thankfully, the western suburbs can now boast of a fine dining place that is truly great on the food and the experience!

I likeeee!

Looked up Burrp reviews for this place (which very misleadingly says its a moderately priced place) and decided to try out authentic Italian. As soon as we drove into the Business Park, it was like a transformation into a very different place. Quiet and very pleasant. Managed to find the restaurant. First impression: Very impressive :)
Well the impression did not wear out during my stay there. We were very politely escorted to a table for two. Our host was very pleasant and polite. The menu had an awesome spread of very mouth watering dishes I must say..though a little pricey. I agree with a previous reviewer that they should add a few more hot antipastis.
We weren’t too hungry so we just ordered a basic chicken pasta dish and a duck breast side dish. Before the dishes arrived, we were served mini brushettas on the house which were amazing!
Our host arrived and asked my partner to sing a song for me as per the restaurant rituals!! I found that very amusing and a lot of fun but alas it was just a gimmick to embarrass us! My partner was just asked to give me a flower instead! Very cute!
The food arrived without making us wait for too long. The pasta was really nicely done but the duck was a little disappointing. I remember having duck earlier and I had enjoyed it but the one we were served here was very tough and had a distinct smell which was a turn off! I did gobble up the mashed potato which was served with the duck :) It was fantastic!
I am actually running out of adjectives but really, except the duck, the rest of the evening totaled up as quite an experience for us.
We were even given a relish discount card for the month which gives 50% off on lunches & 25% off on dinners through out this month. So I guess another visit is on the card :)
To sum it up. Really nice place!

Meraviglioso... Perfect Italian Food...

Always wanted to check this place out. This place is all that an Italian restaurant should be. The ambiance is really top notch. As soon as you enter you get the smell of lemon Grass, which feels like Heaven. The Antipasti's are good but i feel they could add more of the hot Antipasti cause I would rather prefer a hot Antipasti over cold one. Then the food we started off wit the Capesante, its as pleasing to the eyes as it is to your taste buds, it really leaves u wanting more. They have a good variety of Pasta, Pizza, salads etc. We ordered the Pollo Con Salsic (The pasta dish with King prawn),Tagliolini Gamberoni (Chicken Breast with Mashed potatoes) both were really good (I really loved the mashed potatoes. I am potato freak) Well later the head chef Rossano Renzelli came up & greeted us & my friend told him how much i loved the food specially the Mashed potatoes in the Chicken dish on which the chef himself offered us a complimentary dish made by him, The potato dough dish called GNOCCHI AI FUNGHI gnocchi is the potato dough and funghi is mushrooms, it was brilliant. I was full rite upto my neck but at the same time i wanted to have more of it, i would go for this dish anytime again. The chef was really in a mood to spoil me. We were served complimentary hand made special chocolates to taste & later again the same before we left. The staff were all friendly n took good care of the customer. All in all this is an absolute Italian food lovers place to be. others will also love it. Lastly before you leave they have this really fun and new way of making it a complete dinner. They give u this pair of funny glasses to wear as shown in their loopiness drive, take a snap of you and then print it out & gift it back to you. I loved it. Also they all clap whenever a staff drops anything, well everyone in the restaurant claps including the customers. I completely enjoyed the dining experience here. I am really waiting to go for the Sunday Brunch they are gonna start off from 7th march. I am sure all of you guys will love this place.

Lip Smacking Food...

Was quite fascinated by their loopiness drive all across the city and decided to check it out.. the rate at which they have been advertising i expected the place to be much larger and the FUN dining experience didn't quite come through but leaving all that aside, the food was the real star here. A complete Italian menu. Antipasti, Salads, Pasta, Pizzas etc and all of it was superb. The salad was fresh and the wood fired pizzas simply melt in your mouth and you just cant stop eating them. We tried the mushroom ravioli which was perfectly cooked and tasted brilliant. The staff here was quite friendly and cheerful and they were happy to cater to our dining preferences. They have fresh gelato and interesting desserts. Its a little far but the food makes the it all worth it. Will i go there again ? Definitely and you should too.
