Perfect Destination in Chembur East
After a not so good experience with other hotels in this locality, Royal Orchid turned out to be a real Savior for a perfect Dining Experience. The Food, Ambiance, Service were awesome. Finally a place to take your friend & family in Chembur East.
good food always!
Being one the good restaurants close to home..I frequent here..
Ambience is calm and welcoming.. Service is very nice..the staff is polite..
I have tried varied cuisines .. Love the food served here..the quality of food is just wow...love the biryani they serve..and a pleasant chocolate ending to my dinner...such are places to go to if u want a peaceful happy and no risk dinner..always good food!
One of the most visited restaurants. The soups are amazing. The chicken teriyaki is a must try. chicken lasagna is one of my favorites over here. The ambiance is good except it is very noisy and it might turn out to be irritating sometimes. The portion size are decent enough. Overall a very good experience
Not a bad place to go to
Just back from a dinner with the wife and her friends. After researching for a decent place to go to in chembur, we ended up at Royal Orchids (also called as Wild Orchid and Orchids)
Ambiance: this place is quite easy to miss and is not located at a place where you'd expect a upscalish restaurant. The decor is pretty good and the lighting is adequate and is capable of seating about 60-80 guests.
Food: was pretty average to say the least. The Asparagus and Mushroom soup tasted weird and you should really request it to be a base of cream instead of the clear soup that they serve. Also the mushroom soup was too creamish and thick. Melon and Feta Salad was not good. Their Kokam Fizz mock tail was pretty good and recommended. Also their Chilly Cheese Onion Rolls tasted good with the tomato based sauce they served separately. Avoid their Bruchettas. For mains, we ordered the Tawa Mushroom and Veg Kofta Curry which were both average. To finish it off, the caramel custard was the best and their sizzling brownie with icecream was actually chocolate cake with ice cream on a hot plate
Service: very slow and bad. Had to remind waiters thrice to get your bottle of water filled. Highly understaffed and they need to be more attentive.
Damages: 2500 for a meal for 4 seemed expensive for the sort of service and food at this place. Anything less than 2k would've been worth it
Bottom line: this is a place to go with family and would love to try it out again
any day for any kind of food
this is like the food central for people near Chembur, especially if you want to go out with your family...they do have a lounge kind of place on the bottom floor but i recommend the main restaurant cause it is lovely.
try the north indian, or the chinese, or the italian
it is all so yum
the staff is courteous and helpful and the ambiance is perfect for a family meal
A quality pricey spend- Do try the CARAMEL CUSTARD
The first thing that comes to my mind about this place is its interiors....it creates a mirrage and makes it look more spacious.
The crispy sliced lamb is one food I can swear on.Besides the aromatic lotus leave rice, the ixed tandoor platter, food is as tasty as ever. The price is certainly on the higher side.
The service is good, the menu is varied and quantity is considerable.
But do try the caramel custard dere!
Tuck into some nice Indian food
We went there on a Monday so the place wasnt packed. Word on the street says its full on weekends with a lot of waiting. The place is very well done up and the ambiance is soft and cozy. The tables are well spaced making it easy to have a nice conversation without trying to outdo other tables in volume. The paneer was soft and delectable and the potatoes were yum as well. The soups werent awesome but not bad either. Didnt have anymore so it would be amateur to comment.
Not too bad for a decent dining experience
While Royal Orchid is not your average fast food joint, it is certainly only borderline fine dining. Having been here on a couple of occasions, I happen to try a lot from their extensive menu, that happens to stack everything from Indian to Chinese, to Thai to Italian. And like too many cooks spoil the broth, the same happens to be true with this place as well, almost literally too.
I will not recommend their soups, especially the continental ones; for; they are way too brothy, taste the same across the menu and not at all flavorful. Indian starters are worth a try, especially the stuffed potatoes with panner (one of my favs).
For a good experience with this place, I suggest stick to the Indian menu, since their continental items have disappointed me on more than one occasion. Drinks are average and best enjoyed if you just pop down to wild orchid.
Service deserves a special mention as it has always been prompt and helpful.
Verdict: A decent dining place in Chembur, best enjoyed if you want a decadent Indian fare for a meal, that too in calm and cozy settings.
Classy place, bad food
I'm a stranger to Chembur but in my experience the place lacks a decent place that serves good, tasty food. Except maybe Sadguru. I went to Royal Orchid with some friends last evening and one of my friends said their food is good since his office gets food catered by them.
My friend ordered Kokum Fizz which was nice. My Peach Iced Tea had a slice of mosambi! I don't know why and there was no taste of tea. It was just sugar.
I'm a veg so i ordered for bruschettas and chilly corn patty-like thing. The bruschetta was a shocker!!! It was just toast with cheese on it. When we asked the server for a real bruschetta, he said that this was how they made it.
Fine! But even the chilly corn patty was bad and we left both the starters half. Their main course of Chinese noodles was good though. But everything here seems on the spicier side.
Thumbs down... bad experience
I was here with my family few weeks back. we had Fish tikka and Chicken main course. I must say I didnt like the food, and it is apparent by the fact that I dont even remember name of all dishes we ordered as main course.
The food did not offered any new taste. The quantity was also not great.
One thing which I distinctively remember is the Fish smelled very bad. We cudnt finish entire dish. Chicken was not very well cooked.
Thumbs down to this place. The prices are sky high and food quality doesn't matches the price. Also service was not very good.
I am not going again here, as I know I can get much better food at half the price at other places around with better and quick service.
This place rocks!!
Music - Gr8, u are not ristricted to any particular genre. Good house, rock, retro...
Food - awesome!! gr8 italian food, i suggest take the waiters advice & ask him to describe wats in it......u'll always be satisfied. And ya its not dat expensive.
Crowd - Decent, no rowdies or nething the management keeps an eye out for trouble makers.
Drinks: Decent rates, good cocktails and mocktails. large of domestic whisky Rs. 250/- ex tax.
Suggestions: Its a gr8 place to hangout in chembur, if u hate travelling in traffic on weekends. the management needs to spend on advertising this place, on the other hand it would be great if the crowd was mixed, currently its Guy/gal ratio is 10:3.
Dinner out at Chembur
Went here recently for a quiet celebration dinner close to home.
We arrived early - around 8.30pm on a weeknight, so got a table without much trouble.
Nice place - brightly lit, with well spaced out tables.
We ordered a couple of cocktails, 2 veg starters (Stuffed mushroom, and some yummy chinese rolls) and a non-veg one (honey-pepper chicken). All three were very yum - especially the honey pepper chicken. The cocktails were also well-made - especially the one with ginger fizz and vodka.
The staff is courteous and helpful, but a tad bit overattentive. Even when the place was full (by 9.30pm) they were insistent on refilling our plates. Still... decent service.
Totally recommeded for an evening out in Chembur.
Dragon Rolls 'n Pot Rice
My family ordered food from here tonight and it was so good that I instantly came to burrp to write about it. First of all let me tell you that the packing was perfect and very well done...the food came to my house piping hot and fresh!!! domino's takes 40 mins to reach my house and royal orchid which is about the same distance away delivered in 30 min flat.
We were very impressed with the food as always. The Dragon rolls were tangy & yummie....pot rice was great with black mushrooms and we enjoyed it with mix veggies in teriyaki sauce. This is bit expensive compared to other places in this area but it is surely WORTH its salt!!!
PS - I hve added this after 16 hours of writing the review. Earlier today, they actually called me up to check whether the food was good. Fantastic service :-)
The place is quite excellent. It's one of our regular hangouts on friday nights. Good music - a mix of rock, retro, house/trance (for about 30-60 mins in the night). A very good selection of drinks are available. Reading the reviews above, most people rate the service poor - but my experience is quite the opposite. The bartender (Ashok) and the rest of the staff are very attentive and have a quick service time. Food overall is limited - only starters and sandwiches / wraps. Stay away from the tuna sandwich - recommendations for non veggies - chicken club sandwich, a chicken starter with olive oil (i don't remember the name!). For veggies - the veg tarts are quite good. Overall, stay away from the traditional indian starters as far as possible. The continental cuisine is very good.
Oh and yes, no shorts and no floaters - entry isn't permitted for anyone in that attire.
This is an excellent pub to just wind down and relax at. Great dark lit ambiance, a real bar with stools & an LCD usually playing sports channels (audio muted). The music is great and fits the ambiance well; a mix of pop, blues and soft rock (English only). Staff is very attentive and service is prompt. They have a dress code so you can't go in shorts or wearing flip-flops. Tshirts are fine, however. The bar is reasonably well stocked with several imported beers and liquor available. Food is well made as well, however they do not serve beef & pork. Slightly pricey, on par with dance bar rates. With Illusion/All spice at the Acres club closing down & the pathetic service at XO (I have reviewed both establishments on here), this is now my favorite haunt in the area. Best pub in Chembur, with G spot coming in a close second.
Hi ppl, visited the Orchid pub yesterday. Its got fresh new lounge bar like interiors but ahem.. same old hostile 'muchhad' head captain/manager! now the rates have increased a bit too. The menu has changed. n guess what? the service hasnt changed a bit! we ordered a draft mug in which after a while we noticed some powder like residues in all the mugs which was then pionted out to the waiter n i got a much expected answer. He said we must have put cheeselings in the mug!! can u believe it? For an expensive place like this, this shuldnt be an answer! anyways we did not expect a replacement coz we knew we wouldnt get any going by our earlier experiences there. Only the music kept us sitting there. And another downside is, the doesnt play requests anymore.ha! even bigger n better places take requests.
Royal Orchid = SHIT
yuck is the word. The fish was smelly and I just couldn't eat it. When I told the waiter he made this face like - oh a fussy customer!! YES!! Your food stinks. Really disappointed as I had read some of the reviews before going and they were positive. Will not go back again - not really worth it.
i totally agree with the people below.. the manager is completely arrogant and behaves as if he owns the place! the place has good ambience, food is avg. and overall expensive. they have italian fare as well which tasted far from any italian recipe n in fact a dish i ordered tasted like chinese! there is a serious lack of good pubs in chembur n thats why places like this thrive inspite of bad staff. my ratings are only for the ambience n music..
If you're in Chembur and want to take your boss for lunch, or celebrate any special occasion, take them to Royal Orchid. Why? Because it has the most amazing ambiance and service.
Also, there's indian, chinese and thai food on the menu. Don't worry about the taste and quality - it is consistently good. And the portions are BIG. A portion of Soup, in particular, is sufficient for 4. Really.
There's a separate menu for italian food and wines. but dont count on that. stick with indian/chinese.
Recommendations: palak khichdi, noodle soup, pot rice, water chestnut appetizer, crispy prawns appetizer
Good pub but rude management
i luv the place good food good music good ambience BUT really rude management. The manager is the most irritating of the lot cuz his behaviour towards the customers specially the non regulars is as if he wants to kick them off asap if they are havin a good time. It dosent matter wthr the place is packed or empty. Some of the waiters i suppose are deaf cuz they will not listen to u unless n until u scream at them. I agree with shony78 100%. I hv rated this place poor only bcuz of the rude managment .
Good ambience but bad service
This place could have been great... Ideal location, good music, but alas... the service is shockingly BAD.. I used to go there quite a few times, as I used to like music, but have felt cheated a lot of times. Literally cheated too, as they have a habit of giving an inflated bill quite a few times. SHOCKING but true..., as some of my other friends have had similar experience at this place. Food is fine, sometimes quite good, but equally bad the other times.. I would not recommend this place, as there are some real good pubs in chembur, which are lot better..
Great ambience and service but food disappoints
Decided to go to Orchid seeing all the good reviews. Went early so got a place quite easily despite being a Sunday. The place is nicely done and has a great ambience. Got on to a good start and was really looking forward to the food.
Decided to fo for Italian and ordered a tomato soup flavoured with basil, bruschetta and a custom made pasta in red sauce with toppings.
The soup was served with two slices of garlic bread. It was not bad but I expected something more reading the description. It was like your usual tomato soup. The bruschetta was more like garlic bread with cheese and a tomato base.Overall the food was not bad but not something I was expecting from an Italian restaurant. The saving grace was the pasta. The sauce was really good. That was totally worth it.
Service: Very good, the waiters know what they are doing and do it well. He also mentioned that canelloni or ravioli was not their forte and recommended another dish. Was extremely impressed by the level of professionalism. Also came to check if the food was ok.
Overall not a bad experience but nothing extraordinary that I would want to repeat.
This place has a great ambience & hence the music played by the DJ really leaves a good impression. The food is not above average but, the drinks are quite expensive. We had a blast with about 5 friends & a lot of expensive booze, the damage was about 9500/- But we had a great time ! Will visit again...
A flower that's always fresh!
This place must be around for almost 10 years now. But believe me these guys have managed to keep up the consistent quality of the food and service. Even the interiors & furnishings look stunningly fresh, its really ** well-maintained considering the crowd that pours in. It's usually packed on Sunday nights but it's so well-staffed that you will rarely find yourself looking for the bearer to help you with your next order. The service is just impeccable and it's consistent through, from the Manager to the Valet guys downstairs. After seeing this place, I think most places today lack service because they are under-staffed - Orchid's just know what it takes. Not once have I been disappointed here.
Regarding the food, they have a pretty extensive Italian menu, their preparations particularly with seafood are simply amazing. I have never tried the Indian or the Chinese here but I am sure it should be pretty decent.
This is what we ordered last night:
** Sweet Corn Seafood Soup - mom had that. Rs. 100/-
** Bruchetta Rs 110/-
** Portion of Garlic Bread 60/-
** Gamberetti Alla Senape: King Prawns in a creamy mustard sauce *Highly Recommended* Rs 325/-
** Lasagna Verde Al Forno: Layers of home made pasta with spinach in cheesy tomatoes sauce and baked Rs. 160/-
** Insalata Dela Casa: Assorted pastas and veg flavoured with burnt garlic. and papprica along with a dash of lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil. Rs. 140/-
** Diet Pepsi Rs.60/-
** Caramel Custard (totally skip this one, it didnt have molecule anything close to caramel) Rs 60/-
** Whisky Soda Rs. 149/-
** Total 1266/- (inclusive of taxes)
Not bad, what say?
I had heard a fair bit about this restaurant from my Chembur buddies, so i thought I'd give this place a try. I didn't have much expectations, so I didn't reckon I'd be disappointed at all. I was in for a pleasant surprise.
I sampled their Ravioli, and for the better part it was good but (like the reviewer before me) I felt they had skimped a bit on the filling. It was good, more than satisfying but it left me feeling that this could have been that bit better.
I tried some of their starters (on a skewer, forget the name...excellent by the way), their mughlai was very good but what I loved most was their Chinese. It was fantastic. I despise noodles in its chinese avatar, and I somehow found myself relishing their finely spiced offering as if I couldn't get enough of it (which I couldn't). The accompanying gravy we had ordered was also excellent, and I was so busy savoring the taste of the dishes that I completely forget to note the names of whatever we had called for. Nevertheless, I will return soon and provide greater details.
Sizzling brownie was the standard fare (still good), and the service, cleanliness and ambience all won top points from me. Highly recommended, whether it's a hop-skip-and-jump away or otherwise
Awesome customer service
Personally, I judge a restaurant by how well they maintain the toilet and these guys did a good job. It didnt smell and I didnt feel the need to get out of there asap.
Moving on to the service now. There was a five minute waiting for a table but they didnt leave us hanging outside the door but instead took us in and offered us a good place to sit in their hotel lobby which I think was refreshing.
Food, they have an italian menu but not quiet upto the mark. The raviolli could do with some more stuffing in it and on telling the manager about it, he readily offered to replace it for anything else I wanted. So that was nice of them to do that.
So the food didnt really matter after that.. I was happy to be treated with some sense of respect.
