Re-heated Pizzas

Personally not a fan of re-heated pizza.

These guys sell pizza slices (of a 15inch) for around 150 bucks. The toppings are satisfying and if lucky you will be getting a fresh out-of-the-oven pizza as well.

Pastas are prepared right in front of you with your choice of ingredients. Pretty cool, though the fusilli that we got could have been cooked a little more.

Being an Italian chain, I wasn't expecting the non-veg pizza choices to be "Butter Chicken" and "Tandoori Chicken" which was thoroughly disappointing.

The only non-veg, non-Indian pizza was a stuffed pizza, which, after ordering, realized was basically pizza 'toppings' stuffed in between two crusts. Loaded with toppings, but then too heavy.

I'd give it a three.

Mr. Anthony Dsouza 5 star

I'm giving these guys a break now, yesterday the manager was kind enough to give me a tour of the kitchen etc and explain that the truck which goes in the morning apparently collects stuff from there for shipping to other restaurants in Bombay, not vice versa. I'm willing to give them another shot, they definitely have a good future under the management of Mr. D' Souza- a competent professional indeed.

Meatballs are disgusting

I had warned you the last time I was here to get your act together but clearly you haven't. The meatballs are disgusting. I don't know how you can serve this stuff to people and get away with it and calling it "Fresh food" you ought to be sued for false advertising. Almost everything here is FROZEN. The meatballs certainly are. Avoid like the plague.

Poor service

On 26th Jan, with my family i had ordered for a veg pasta and a veg pizza slice at the outlet in R City mall, Mumbai
Instead of veg, i was served a non veg pizza with chicken in it.
Unfortunately my kids and my wife realized it only after having a few bites.
When i went back to the counter, they admitted it was a misatke, and did change the pizza slice but nothing beyond.
As a matter of courtesy, i was expecting their store in charge to speak to me and offer a refund.
Being Jains, we have never had non veg, and this experience was pretty bad for the whole family. Infact my wife and 11 year old son, fell sick and we just left the place

Good Experience

Had been to the place with family and it was a good experience overall - Food was great, deserves 5 star, but had to go for one star less for being a bit cramped and for all those no parking boards on that road. I had to constantly keep an eye on the road, as I saw a police van pull up once over there

Decent place

They have a good number of options such as pizza, lasagna, pastas, stromboli, soups, beverages, etc. The garlic bread is just TOO amazing..The best i have had so far...The staff was polite and very helpful but little less confident and less professional....mabbe they'll get it with time....The best part is they have a live kitchen where you can see how they cook...fresh food guaranteed....In short, its a decent place to eat...Not pricey at all...And yeah, dont miss their chicken pastas and broccoli pizza!

Dissapointing

With an exciting and fresh feel from outside this place was definitely to be visited but the place is totally avoidable. Here are some reasons that obe should completely avoid this place

1. Service is horrible. Don't get surprised if the waiter comes n puts the spoon directly on an uncleaned table.
2. Cramped spacing
3. Not at all fresh food.
4. Food tastes horrible.
5. Wall of the upper floor are damped so there is a slight stench at this floor

Better go to any pizza outlet nearby than trying pizza over here

Delicious Pizzas & Italian Food

Visiting Sbarro was a great experience. As far as the food is concerned, it is very very good. Pizzas are delicious (especially the stuffed broccoli and spinach one) and the garlic bread is amazingly good.

Thanks SBARRO's.
Will visit soon.

Avoid this place

Sbarro is located in a prime area of chembur. just around the corner is diamond garden, barista and kstar mall. the design and decor of the place is nice. however the positive aspects soon get overshadowed by a number of let downs:

1. the food is mediocre.
2. staff are casual and lousy. poorly trained staff.
3. the concept being new requires to be explained to first time visitors to this place perhaps by a store manager or a member of the staff. however the store manager (a female) just stands near the entrance and chats casually to the staff, very unprofessional of her.
4. the seating is too cramped inside.

i would highly recommend to avoid this place. most of the time its empty. it wont be long before this place shuts down unless the management does get there act together and improve the quality of service.

What an Experience

What an experience !!!
I certainly enjoyed the food at SBARRO chembur, as the Product along with the servicve was just perfect & the only reason behind this the crew member at the store who where so courteous to me & all other customers. I have being to SBARRO in Newyork as well, & trust me on this that chembur outlet is much more happening since its a fine dine.
SBARRO's is so special to me, only because of Mr.Ravi, who's the Manager of the store. He's best for hospitality Industry due to his courteous behavour towards their customer.
Thanks SBARRO's.
Will visit soon.

A pizza place that does not deliver

So Sbarros started off sometime back in Chembur and these guys circulated a flier with the newspapers. I was surprised to see that they charge 20 bucks for delivery. I looked up burrp to see the reviews and everyone has said the the service is lousy. So I decide to call in on a Sunday. And the lady says that they dont deliver on weekends. Really?!? She said yes. So the service is lousy and you dont deliver on weekends. My advice: do not bank on your meals from Sbarros; they will let you down.

A bar too low

Sbarro is a classic example of how an international, reputed chain can be brought down by poor service. I have gone here twice, solely for the veg broccoli pizza but except for one person, the service is bad! The waitress insists of watching TV right in front of us. The manager sits in the table next to me eating his lunch (poha). This is not acceptable! Also, one is expected to repeat the order at the counter. Staff (except for one guy) is rude and non challant.

As far as the food is concerned, it is very very good. Pizzas are delicious and the garlic bread is amazingly good. But what's the point if the experience is not up to the mark. A friendly and professional staff will make a world of a difference to this joint.

New Taste but Disappointing Service

Sbarro definitely brings a new taste and concept in Chembur. However, their layout hindered the service making it too crowded at the entrance and difficult to move about. Further, the service was very slow. I received only half of my order after waiting for about 15-20 minutes. Further, i was told that the remaining order (spaghetti and pizza) would be served at the table. We finished the order we had at our hand and waited for another 10minutes and still we hadnt recieved the pending order. When we enquired, seems they had forgotten and then still provided only the spaghetti while they still maintained that the pizza would be served in 5 minutes. However, even after further 15minutes pizza was not provided. When enquired again, it seems they had forgotten again and first they said that they are out of stock with that pizza and offered to refund. Then, someone else came and said that it would be ready in 5minutes and i should wait. I was frustrated and requested a refund be processed. However, I opted for a exchange with cheese cake as i had heard that it is good (it was indeed). And i asked the billing person if any money needs to exchange hands after cancelling the pizza of the day (Rs.149) with cheese cake (Rs.59 as per this link http://www.mid-day.com/lifestyle/2012/apr/300412-Italian-balancing-act.htm). He said that its balanced out.

Since, rate of cheese cake wasnt explicitly mentioned anywhere I dunno if its actually for 59 or 149. However, this article claims that they had that same cheese cake for Rs59. So, is Sbarro also into cheating customer along with poor service..!!??

Its quite decent

Its a nice place if you want to have a quick bite but the cramped seating makes it impossible for people to hang out here.
the pizzas are really good , especially the stuffed brocoli and spinach one . However the pasta is terribly made and ive eaten here quite a few times so this isnt an arbitrary opinion . the salads are quite ok too . All in all the place is a fresh change in chembur and could do really well if they change their service style

Re: @SbarroMH

Fresh & "shelf life" in the same sentence? Go figure. It is pre-made, perhaps you should visit the store in question.

As for my usage of the word "shit", well I apologize for having offended you but I am disappointed that you take a prudish stance about this matter. My use of profanity is always judicious and discretionary, never vulgar- and this is how people who matter and get shit done in any fucking sphere of life talk :) Good luck. Not all profanity is abusive there are always some adjective and other applications.

The meatballs still haven't improved.

SBARRO

Sbarro arrives and how . Though the choice of location of this Italian Pizza fast food chain is a bit surprising, the duplex in Chembur exudes charm. With offerings like their patented, famous spinach & broccoli Stromboli and the concept of pizza by the slice, they sure do manage to carve a niche for themselves in a market dominated by Dominoes & Pizza Hut. The quality of ingredients like cheese, parsley and pizza dough are exceptionally good. I must say that the crust was fresh, light and nothing like I had ever eaten before. I hope they survive the Mumbai madness and don't fade into the woodwork like Papa John's Pizza.

Not up to the mark. The meatballs are terrible.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that a Sbarro opened up in Mumbai and Chembur of all places, and I went here quite enthusiastically.

I was sorely disappointed. I ordered:
Spaghetti (they have only 2 sauces "white" and "red" so I opted for the red and told them to try to make it Arabiatta. With chicken as the only topping. There is nothing other than chicken and veggies available. The Spaghetti was VERY overcooked and not at all al-dente. The sauce was strictly mediocre.

Chicken meatball.
Oh my fucking God, I only ate the whole thing because I was starving. I have never eaten a worse meatball in my entire life. Meatballs are supposed to be SOFT. This was hard as a corpse and completely devoid of any flavor. Disgusting, avoid this at all costs.

Garlic bread:
Possibly the only redeeming factor though it was undoubtedly stale and tasted kind of plasticky, it was the best of what I was served. The garlic bread is not freshly made. And the dip they give you is again limited to two of those red or white sauces. They don't have any variety of dips, or sauces for that matter.

Ambiance is alright, clean and sanitized but I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the staff greeting everyone coming in and going out- so freaking unnatural, it's obvious they've been trained like monkeys to do this.

Giving it two stars only for the potential and really hope they improve. Maybe bring in a Chef from another Sbarro/country to supervise and train these guys.

So in a nuthshell:
Pasta should be al-dente/firm/not over cooked.
Meatballs need to be soft.
Also, don't put those frozen pizza slices on the display they look highly unappetizing.
Fresh (or at least) daily baked garlic bread will be nice.
MOAR sauces- this is critical.

Overall it's hygienic and Sbarro is highly welcome in this city, if they can cook the fresh food that they do elsewhere.

Also an observation about the business...they're going to have to raise prices or do away with the fresh cooking (can't / shouldn't). They can't possibly handle volume with their current space and 2 counter tops when they get popular.

Good luck and I really hope they get their shit together, I'd like to go back and eat some food which actually tastes good.

Need to improve and fast

Not a good experience. The Veg pizza and the Cheese pizza were doughy. Not cooked properly. Spaghetti and stuffed veg pizza was good. On bringing it to the manager's notice, the response was of the tune that the place is new and they will work towards improving. Makes me wonder if they are having novices as cooks.

The service level needs a lot of improving. Climbing the steep flight of stairs with a tray of food and beverages is not a good idea. The responsiveness of the staff to clean the tables is not up to the mark. Cutlery is only on the lower level and in case one needs something then one has to trudge up and down 20 odd steps.

The whole approach of figuring out what to eat, paying, then picking up the order is very cumbersome and needs to be streamlined.

Pricing seems reasonable if the quality can be improved else it is better to eat at a tried and tested Pizza Hut or Papa John's.

"posto giovanile", a youthful place

The very first Italian fresh food joint in Chembur...... Sbarro.
In Italian language it can be said "posto giovanile", a youthful place for young, lively and energetic people at heart. Hygienic preparation, Tasty and Fresh food. The location is Mid-Chembur with Ample parking place. I feel the new concept of fresh Italian cooking is worth trying again and again.

needs a lesson on how to treat your customer !

Sbarro may be the only Italian Joint Chembur has to offer but they have a LONG WAY to go in terms of customer service ! Been there yest with hubby and kid ..

Firstly who thought of this really Brilliant idea of having the serving line start at the door ?? how fabulously Inconvinient !

Secondly this is just NOT the place to go if you have kids !( my bad) They'd rather use their common sense and give a sofa seating ( in an otherwise completely cramped place) to teens ( Hoards of them here ) rather than families with kids !

And must you DARE ask for water / tissues ( word is - you either move it and get it yourself or dare a half an hour wait !)

Food review you ask ? - Sorry , didnt stay for one !

Average

Was looking forward to going here once I heard about the place. Looks good from outside, especially the outdoor seating. But the place is quite cramped inside with tables too close to each other giving hardly any space to walk around or even talk.
The garlic breadstickes are worth the money, though they should serve it with a dip.Tried the stuffed crust spinach and paneer pizza which was not good, the all veg pan pizza was nice. The managers are efficient though the staff needs more skill with the serving and taking orders. Would improve with time hopefully.
