High tea at the Sea Lounge- a blissful experience. The menu is not that extensive but whatever is there is great. Lip smacking and food that melts in the mouth. Chicken steak were scrumptious and the dessert just got better with every spoonful! Pastas were too tangy. They serve the best chaat from sev puri to aloo tikki. The three tier charlies with bite size is the best finger food ever. Viennoise coffee ice cream, jasmine Tea, raspberry cheese cake are must try desserts.
The hotel looks magnificent and the sea lounge gives a feel of a lavishly decorated banquet hall set up for an Indian wedding.
Worth a visit..!!
The sea lounge is a very nice place to relax and have a quiet meal. The place has old world charm and the service is excellent. One of those heritage places you go to more for the venue itself than for the food. Great view on Gate of India and surroundings,
Nice place to visit
I recently visited the Sea Lounge on two separate occasions. These weren't my first visit either. The Sea Lounge has a great view of the sea, with many colorful boats and the Gateway of India. It's a nice place to occasionally visit to sit and chat with friends. I haven't found the food worth the money, but here you are paying for location, service, and ambience
As everyone said you should go there, I went for high tea, but was very disappointed. I arrived around 5 pm and the buffet was almost empty, except for some desserts, but which were too sweet.
If you cannot have a seat at the window, it is not worthable and way to expensive.
Service is not good at all, very slow and not very friendly.
I expected more of it.
Sea (Of joy) Lounge.
The Sea Lounge !!!
To be very practical there are no words to review this specific place.
This place is much more than anything. The ambiance which sea lounge has is very Royal. The beauty of this place is much was the reason for terrorist to destroy this.
But like Phoenix this place emerged from ashes for the lovable people of Mumbai.
If you are lucky enough to get the window sit then its a jackpot for you, because the sip of tea along with beauty of Arabic sea makes an amazing combination.
Its a must go :)
PS Nt. - Perfect place to propose someone, No doubt you will get a positive Outcome.
All the Best. !!!
the best high tea in town
Guys if ur in the south and for some reason skipped lunch don't worry. The sea lounge is just the treat you want to give yourself. Their hi tea buffet is one you don't want to miss. From mumbai chaats to the original concept of hi tea, Sea lounge is where you'll get them under one roof. This place is where the couples first meet and a relation for a lifetime blossoms. The staff will tell you about how people meet there n get married in one of the banquet halls just beside.
This is my first time i been to TAJ at Colaba. So its totally a new experience for me and Sea Lounge doesn't let me down. I don't have the word to talk about the ambiance. As its TAJ so ambiance has to be out of the world.
As we were in the town so are juggling where to go for coffee. Whether we go to Sea Lounge at Colaba or Cafe by the beach at Girgaon chowpaty. But anything Vs TAJ its TAJ who always wins. So decided to go to TAJ.
On reaching TAJ we went to Sea Lounge located at the first floor. Welcomed by the staff and got seated. Though we want the sitting area by the window but didn't get it as it was all occupied.
For coffee we ordered 3 Jamaican Blue Mountain (as recommended by my brother), one Boccocini Sandwich and One Sev Puri. Save puri tastes like any other Sev puri you get at any Shop but the presentation part makes the experience totally different.
Total damage for Coupe of rounds of Coffees and one Sandwich and One Sev Puri was Rs.3613/-
I have added this place in my all time favorites list and one of the best place in mumbai with Best view of Sea.
Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee made my day
Traveled all the way from the suburbs to visit a doctor in South Mumbai. Since we had already braved the traffic and the insanely long commute, we thought we'll treat ourselves to a good high tea (read coffee, please) session.
The Sea Lounge located inside the Taj is one of my favorite places in South Mumbai.
We had the Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee - which is rated as one of the finest in the world. To go along with the coffee, we had a round of Sev Puri and a Boccocini sandwich on Foccacia bread. Total yum stuff without any doubt.
The ambiance is inviting, the staff very pleasant and the place is THE Taj Hotel. What else can one ask for?
Lovely Place, food quantity...hmmm...:(
I have been going to this place since I was a kid. Eating Black Forest Pastry for Rs. 8/ and they used to serve Chef's Pizza (chicken & prawn) for Rs. 16/ in the '70s. Good food.
In the '90s they used to have a desert buffet for Rs.125/ (excellent !) and there used to be a line waiting outside.
Circa 2011, it was empty when I visited a few days back. Went there for desert and was sorely disappointed. The quantity was uughh ! I mean you charge a bomb and give me me a blink n u miss it quantity.
In the name of Nutella crepe, you have a 'DOSA" with little Nutella rubbed on the plate with vanilla ice-cream in it for a thousand bucks ! Give me 'Movenpick' desert any day in Switzerland or Haagen-Daz'.
That's what our Indian restaurants lack unlike American ones, all show and no quantity, be it 'Mezzo Mezzo' in J.W. Marriot or now our Iconic Sea Lounge.
BEST VIEW & mouth watering food
as i entered the sea lounge located on the first floor of the taj palace one saturday noon i was charmed by the amazing interior i saw. i chose the window seat and my oh my was the view just perfect.. it was drizzling outside ,i saw the gateway and the vast ocean .. I ordered a burger and hot chocolate. price was over the roof but thats expected ... my experience with the staff in general was pleasant. I highly recommend the Sea Lounge Go Treat yourself :)
The first thing to come to mind is, "Beautiful View". Amazing hospitality, always and I like the food too. It's truly an art to cook a light Risotto. The only thing that bothers me is that it's freezing cold, if only they's raise the temperature a bit! It's always lovely to have an actual pianist rather than piped music.
Timeless and Classic
This is one place which is still a very special place to me...Despite Decades it still has her charm and beauty....For me it offers the best view of Mumbai, the vast arabian sea and the landmark of mumbai "The gateway of India"....
Over all these years i've tried all their veg options and there was never a moment when i had a complaint.....
But off lately what i really love having here is the "Asian High Tea" and this is the best for the Indian Palate....The spread is an excellent mix of Traditional english High Tea scones, clotted cream , finger sandwiches with Indian Chaat such as ragda pattices, pav baji, pani puri etc etc.... And the added zing is the inclusion of Far eastern cuisines, so you have dim sums, spring rolls and so on...Oh and the yummiest mini pastries....
Its a wonderful experience
outstanding doesn't need any ratings actually.

It's a heaven.And the sea looks perfect.
As a kid i loved this place and still i love it.It's something about this lounge that it attracts me everytime.Perfect ambience with live piano music. The aloo chaat and the square pizzas are definately not to miss. And also there are many things besdie this.Go and have a relaxed evening.
A good experience, always
Went there yesterday afternoon to take a break from the HOT sun outside. We were a group of 10 people. They had to arrange a couple of extra chairs for us to accommodate our group.
I finally tried the Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. Man, it was sooooo good. One of the best coffees that I've ever had.
We even had the Dhokla with Ragda, Vegetable Sandwiches and the Cheese Chilly Toast. Everything was just made to perfection. My daughter feasted on the Cheese Chilly Toast. I loved the Dhokla and the chutneys that came along with it.
The place a bit heavy on the pocket, but the food was par excellence, the service immaculate. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Would love to go there again with wife and sit by the sea-side view.
Watch the ships go past
A lovely place to go in the afternoon, have a cup of tea/coffee or nariyal paani, then try their Sev Puri - one of the most amazing I have ever had. Some time ago, I had asked the manager, if the made it on the premises or sent someone round the corner to get it from the bhaiyya....Imagine his look.... But the same consistency & quality.
Need to go back this year.
A Royal Treat
My favorite place for a cup of coffee. If you are lucky to get a seat by the window you can enjoy your cup of tea or coffee with a dash of sea breeze and an awesome view of the Gateway of India and the sea. Sea Lounge is famous for its chaats too. It is said that in its hay days it was a popular hangout spot and also an ideal meeting place for families to fix marriages!
Sea Lounge is open from 7am to midnight and offers a breakfast buffet from 7am -10:30am, lunch ( pasta and antipasto) buffet from 12:30pm -3pm and a high tea buffet from 3:30pm-6:00pm. Besides this you can also choose from the à la carte menu from 11:00am to Midnight.
Speciality coffees and teas
This place located on the first floor of the Taj is hard to beat if you are looking for a great cup of coffee, live music and views of the harbour.
Be sure to ask for their special coffee and tea menu. They have coffee varieties from India, Americas and Africa. I tried their Brazilian Santos coffee (Rs. 175). The coffee had a smooth flavor and a pleasant aroma. The coffee comes with cookies and they were delicious too.
Overall the grandeur ambience of this place takes you back a century or two.
High tea is served between 3.30pm and 6.30pm.
