Superr!

Go for it..you will probably experience the best food in Mumbai. Try the Chef's favourite Vegetarian Masala and the Fry Dal, both incredibly tasty and authentic. The service was also very attentive and friendly but never invasive. Highly recommended! Ambience is good..price is nominal..good food. Must visit for the delicacy.

Cockroach in Food

Hi.. I live in the vicinity of this restaurant and have visited this place on numerous occassions. I have really been fond of the food and ambience here.. However during my last visit, there was a small cockroach in my rice that I ordered and I realised after eating half of it... They gave a discount of 20% at the end but that didnt matter too much as I will never visit the restaurant again.. All restaurants should give customers an oppurtunity to visit their kitchen...

Disappointed!

So, after coming accross (probably) the only restaurant on Burrp having a consistent 5 star rating, I decided to try the place with my family for dinner. I do not know if it was just a bad day for me or if the plenty other reviews are framed up. Nevertheless, below is the account of my experience at this place

- Upon arriving, the valet was courteous and my vehicle was taken care of. On entering the restaurant I got a good feeling as there was family crowd around and it was peaceful on the ground floor (non A/C section). I instantly decided to sit downstairs but since there was no table available, I was guided upstairs to the A/C Section
- It seemed that I had stepped into a fishmarket. Tiny toddlers, children running through tables, loud atmosphere, extremely gaudy straight into the face ambience and worse of all, it was all warm inside. With the noise, the crowd and the doors slamming, obviously the aircon could not keep the place pleasantly cool...Everyone seemed to be shouting their lungs apart for conversations. For a moment, I thought of walking out, but just for my parents, we eventually settled down
- Upon popular reviewer recommendations, we ordered for Corn on Toast to begin with, followed by Bunty aur Bubly, Dal Fry, Paratha's, Boondi Raita and Papads. We had given instructions for all food to be served without green chillies and I stressed that point to the chief steward on the floor...
- And then we were waiting for 50 mins for the food to arrive. Even after requesting, the Papad's and the Raita was also not brought in on time. Finally the Corn on Toast arrived- Loaded with green chillies. The chief steward gave us the excuse that since there were about 15 parcel orders for the same, the cook had missed our order. He took that away and we asked him not to get it back anymore. We asked them to get the maincourse....
- Bunty and Bubbly was on the saltier side. Just a celebrated version of the usual Kofta Curry, albeit, here there were many mini Kofta's garnished with Cheese. Nothing great about the dish. Was strictly OK
- The Dal Fry had nothing special to it....again it was Strictly OK
- The boondi raita was curd added to a sack of salt! I got it changed and what came in return was boondi added to very sour curd!
Well, after a 50 min wait, the food did not live up to its hype. We could not eat anything tastefully. My parents were more disappointed than me!
We decided not to order anything more, and we called for the bill. There was some small goof up in the bill as well...!
Atlast, when we left, the waiter apologized for everything. The guys had realized that everything had gone wrong with regards to our food that evening...

It was frustrated to wait on food for more than 50 mins, just for a very simple regular order...

The only good thing noticed about the place was the staff courtesy. I would give this place a miss and would not recommend it to my friends and family...

The Restaurant With A Heart.....

Okk..so we visit this restaurant on the recommendation of a few close friends...
Another Veg Day for mom & dad..
Grand Facade...huge pillars..flower pots..
The valet greets us with a big smile..nice..
It's more like a temple inside,a Rich temple!
Painting of Indian Gods In Gold on the walls & Silver Diyas kept at soo many places!
Mom Dad fell in love almost immediately...
The menu is very looong..But we were in the mood for Indian food..
The manager takes the order soo patiently & explains each item in detail..v gud..
The starters were awesome...corn on toast, hara bhara tikki & bharwa aloo...
The black dal..brilliant...
Paneer kadhai & Balti Veg..scrumptious!
The manager gave us a complimentary portion of bunty & babli as he heard us joke about the name...it was delicious.. Thank you..
We had no place for rice or desserts.. But we will definitely try the next time..
The Service was impeccable .. Warm & friendly .. U feel pampered...
Now.. The heart part.. When we were getting down from their sections upstairs..
The manager immediately ordered the steward to take the 3-4 packets my parents were carrying from them & get it down with us..felt great..
As we waited for a cab outside..the valets made sure the umbrellas were on our head & the steward still held the packets. Excellent!
I then saw a gentleman...who I assume was the owner & was leaving the restaurant get out of his car.. And instructed his valet to go call the cab from the other side of the road, made sure we sat in it wit their person keeping the packets in the cab!... We just managed exchanging smiles...
But this is the kind of treatment I haven't received anywhere in the world...wow!
Felt like a VIP...
I am super impressed!
It's the team that makes a place rock..and u guys are really awesome!
Shiv Krishna..definitely has a Special place in the hearts of my parents and mine
A heart felt Thank You!

How Creative can one get!!!

Bunty aur Babli..
Jhoom Barabar Jhoom..
Om Shanti Om..
Birbali Kofta...
Tabasco Pulao...
Corn on Toast

Interesting names...But much much more than just interesting food! These were just a few of the delights listed on their menu. Dining at Shiv Krishna is a one of a kind experience. There's everything for everyone - for those who love to experiment with their food & for those who want to just stick to the usual dal roti chawal. Right from the simple iced-tea to their extensive main course, each item is just what one can call PERFECT!!

Last night was my first visit here & I must say I was simply blown down with the food and service given to us. They have so much to offer that its just impossible to cover in, maybe, even 5-6 visits. Very very impressed! Way to go, Shiv Krishna! You made a new fan last night!

Shiv Krishna

My husband and I live in Boston and visit Mumbai once or twice every year and we do make it a point to dine at Shiv Krishna everytime! The restaurant got us hooked right from our first visit in 2009 for a couple of reasons...1) the service and interiors were FAB!...Most importantly, it was a pleasure meeting the M.D and the executive chef Mr.Apurva Mishra...an extremely humble person...every time we visited we were treated as family! 2) And all we can add about the food is that it is just as the name of the restaurant suggests- "Godly", OUT OF THIS WORLD! some of our favorites were:
Bunty aur Bubly
Paneer tikka masala
corn on toast
daal maharani
Veg. Handi Biryani ( My husband still remembers the flavor of this one!!!!!!!!)
and the yummyyyyy malai kulfi!

All in all, this restaurant is a MUST visit! An only recommendation for Mr.Apurva would be to start one in Boston soon:D

We hope this review is helpful to all the food lovers!

Good Luck Shiv Krishna!

Eating Here Is My Religion

Hello All,
I have been a religious eater at Shiv Krishna for a while now... First time when i heard of this place i thot it to be another shetty type joint...

But it was FAR from that...WAY ABOVE anything to a shetty joint... from the food to the servers... the ambiance the grandeur the feel and the vibrations of the place gripped me.. Since than this has been my most frequented restaurant...

The Food - It is Simply 5*Star - Excellent Quality, has been the same for all these years and i feel i just gets better...Black Dal Biryani, Indian Starters... Snacks... All of it is Top Class...

The Menu- Wide variety Of items to choose from... Something for everybody's taste buds... My Favourites Being - Punjabi, South Indian, Snacks & Sandwiches, Amazing Pav Bhaji... Chinese... Basically Everything....!!!

Ambiance - Shiv Krishna has stepped up its ambiance to a different level... over the years they have lifted its grandeur way above its peers & now is in a class of its own... Simply CLASSIC... With GOD photos n paintings ( which are a delight to see) make the place almost a temple... the walls are adorned by the best paintings ...n pls c the work in the pillars outside the restaurant... Work of Art in Food & Decor!

Service - Well The service again is 5* Star stuff... Simply amazing... Just love the way the staff is smiling n greeting and looking after its guests... Soft spoken, always wanting to know their customer preferences and addressing them in full!!! Keep up the great service guys...

Hope all you foodies go and have the experience i had here... I am sure u guys will keep coming back here for more... Great Food... Great Service... Great Ambiance...

SIMPLY AMAZING

Located at opera house this place is very quaint and the people (Apurva Mishra) who run it know their food. They take the meaning of hospitality to another level. the restaurant has an A/C and Non A/C section. they cater to parties aswell.

coming to the food. they serve south indian, punjabi and a variety of snacky dishes. I rate Shiv Krishnas pav bhaji the best in bombay. The sambar which they serve with the south indian dishes is awesome. There are so many punjabi dishes that i like over here that it is very difficult to choose a favorite. So here is a list of dishes i would recommend. the corn on toast, bharwan aloo, chana punjabi, paneer tikka masala, paneer butter masala, dal maharani, paneer biyani, mushroom biryani, bunty and babli, the corn capsicum masala.

bottomline this place cant be missed, trust me if you are a foodie you have to try this place out. great going Apurva and keep it coming.

cheers!!!!

BEST BUFFET DINNER

hi people.i went to this restaurant for the first time on thursday evening and it has bowled me over.the first image that u get when u hear the name Shiv Krishna is like some south indian restaurant, udipi style.but this place is very different and classy.
i went there with my family.we were a group of 8.the person who recieved us at the entrance welcomed us with a big smile.that was impressive.we then sat in their luxurious section upstairs, fully loaded with great paintings, lcd tvs and comfortable sofas.
The server on our table suggested us to try the buffeet dinner.we went ahead to have a look at their spread and it looked fantastic and smelt delicious.we went for it.the soup was good.the starter was excellent(corn on toast),the curries were amazing, infact i overate their biryani.it was too good.in the end they served us with rasgulla and icecreams too.
the service staff is very helpful and corteous.they happily served us the buffet spread on the table.the place was fully packed, even then there was no haste.i was particularly impressed with that.
just at 140 bucks its a steal.i ll make sure i visit this place atleast once a week.keep it up guys.your buffet rocks.

best vegetarian indian restaurant..

hello everyone..my name is harsh shah, a resident of kemps corner, mumbai. Being in the diamond trade, my office is in Pancharatna Bldg at Opera House, hence my lunch comes from this excellent veg. indian restaurant in the heart of Opera House..its called Shiv Krisha.

I have been frequenting this place since the last four years, and the most striking and best part of this eatery is that with each day, the quality of their food n service gets better.

Their south indian snacks are the best i have eaten in bombay, especially the medu wada with sambhar, and the mysore masala and paper dosas.

They serve gujarati and punjabi thalis during lunch hours which is total value for money at rs.60(in non ac)and rs.80(in ac).

Their ambience is totally indian..u feel like you are in a temple. They have lcd screens so u can watch the matches and news. They have separate ac and non ac sections. The paintings on the wall are marvelous. Their main attraction though is their punjabi cuisine. Believe me, and try them..they are fantastic..from the soups to the hara bharas, to the paneer tikkas, to the chole..to the koftas..to the naans..biryanis..etc etc is just too good.their new menu has dishes like bunty aur babli and jhoom barabar jhoom..which are absolutely delicious.

Their limited chinese menu also is very well made and served.
the service is 5star..they serve u with a smile and make u go back for more each and every time..if they go wrong anywhere(which seldom happens)they r quick to accept and rectify(with a smile)i have even had 5-6 partys in their ac hall..and each and every guest of mine was highly impressed.

Their owners (Mishras) take care of every smallest of things. They make u feel at home. I have been noticing them for the last so many years..they care and they make u feel at home. Try out this eatery and i believe u all wud feel the same. Avoid going on weekends..its impossible to get in..theres a huge crowd.

Three cheers for SHIV KRISHNA RESTAURANT..hip hip hurray..
