Gujju Place

Endorsed by practically every Gujju or Marwadi, Shiv Sagar is often flooded with family atmosphere at peak hours.
It's mostly popular for udipi dishes, North Indian, Mexican, Italian and of course, fast food. No non-veg or alcohol yet, but it is quite popular and filling place. This place has one of the best Pav Bhaji in Mumbai. Pav Bhaji is out standing. The chilly paneer and veg crispy are too good. Daal Khichadi and Sizzling Brownie with Hot Chocolate is to die for. For starters we often order nachos with cheese sauce. Pastas are okay with over flavoured garlic. Hakka noodles are decent.
Good service and home delivery. Reasonable pricing.

Good place

Ambiance is good,I wish the seating was a bit more comfortable,it is a little bit stuffy right now. Service is okay, could be better for sure. Food is consistently good and that is the saving grace. Have had all kinds of dosas here, they are all very good and filling. Nachos are good too, Indian food is better than anything else on the menu. Khichdi is great too!Good to go during afternoons-on evenings, more often than not there is a huge line to get in.

Awesome Food & Service

Its a very good place for a quick and delicious lunch. They serve very good food in a pretty decent manner.

During day time, the place is stormed with college students who shout at the loud of their voices in their conversations. This irks a lot, but we shall be calmed by the rich taste.

Neva' visited during nights, but the place should be much better than day coz students may not be found.

Its perfect for friendly parties, business lunches, couples etc. One of the very good joints in Veer Nariman.

Wine and Dine!!

Shiv Sagar is the place I 1st time tried alcohol. And since then, it has been our choice whenever we want to have a peg or two. It is one of the good things about the restaurant. The food is good, the ambiance is great, but what really ruins the experience is the service. The waiters take a long time to bring the order. They are either too distant or too over friendly, hovering around your table even after having served the food, not giving enough privacy to enjoy our lunch/dinner. But mostly, its just the time taken to serve the food. Although when it is served, it feels like it was worth all the waiting. Their white pasta is one of my absolute favorites, and the sizzling brownie. The starters are good too. Overall, it is really a pleasant place to be when you have some money to spare.

Good veg food

I have been frequenting shiv sagar from years and the food quality has not changed. All the cuisines are good. the only put-off is their service. They take very long to get you food. But if you are ordering for their home-delivery they will send it on the promised time. and hence i always prefer the home delivery. otherwise a good place for vegetarians with lot of options.

Not The Service You Want

Been to this place umpteen times and seen it getting worse every time. The food quality is just fine but the service and over priced menu are a total dampener. At one occasion, went here to treat ex colleagues and the waiter just couldnt got our order right. At another, was on my way to catch a train back home after a movie at Eros and thought Id drop in for a quick treat. Ordered a dish of onion rings which failed to arrive after a good 20 minutes and repeated requests. Thankfully for me, my table was close to the door and a exit saved me more grief. After all, I was paying for the dish and it wasnt a favour. The annoying bit is the waiters dont walk up to u n explain the delay but instead try to avoid eye contact and then check with their sub-ordinates on where's the frigging dish. Not to mention that they have hiked up their prices to actually charge more than 100 bucks for those udipi pizzas.

One of Those Places...

you go in, have good food, come out and within 30 minutes, you forget what you had! Happens with me all the time.

One of the better restaurants in churchgate area, especially for veggies. Any afternoon finds it over crowded and there is a minimum waiting period of 5 minutes everyday between 2 nd 3:30 nd 8:30 to 10:30-on sundays its worse.

Last sunday we waited (4 of us-family) for 45 minutes to get a seat at 9 pm night. (My mama was in town and wanted a not-so-exclusive place to have good indian food after a stroll at marine drive nd samrat nearby had 1 hour waiting time, so we came here). we ordered some mocktails, 1 paneer gravy dish, 1 veg kolhapuri, some naan and one paneer chilly dry as starter.

thereafter we had to wait another 25 minutes for the food to arrive!!! Service here clearly goes for a toss when it gets overcrowded! so beware. also we had specifically asked for the mocktails to arrive before main course but they gave us everything together after 25 minutes-that was horrible

This has happened earlier also, once i had gone with my mom nd we had both ordered dosas, the waiter simply forgot to write down my order, brought everything my mom ordered after 20 minutes and then wrote down what i had ordered-result, another 20 minutes of waiting for my dosa to arrive!!!-That was a saturday afternoon...

Apart from the service part, i can't find any fault with food. Since i spent 3 years at jai hind college nearby, this is the place we friends frequented a lot alongwith satkar and had pav bhaaji, dosas, chinese chowmein, crispy thread paneer, manchurian, paneer chilly, nachos, american corn balls, all kinds of indian naan and paneer gravies and everything tastes good-nothing extraordinary.

One thing I always order is watermelon cooler, simply love it.

so go here if you want good, reasonably priced food -just dont go with a special date or if you want to celebrate any special occassion with family-the ambience is comfortable but always crowdy and kinda noisy and not classy enough-and then there is the service part-choose relish or samrat for any special occassion-otherwise shiv sagar is really a good place to have good food :)

Good food!

I went to Shiv Sagar this afternoon for lunch with my friends. It was a raining heavily & I'd hav prefered sitting indoors but since it was very crowded, we had no choice than to sit outdoors (was covered though...just not air conditioned). We ordered for cheese pav bhaji, triple schezwan & neer dosa with paneer chilly.

The service was poor. They served the pav bhaji & the triple schezwan pretty fast but we had to wait for 30 mins for the neer dosa but the food didnt disappoint us. The pav bhaji was good...but many other places serve make it better. The triple schezwan which is a combination of schezwan noodles, schezwan fried rice & manchurian gravy was really good...hot, tasty & very filling...paisa vasool. What blew my mind was the neer dosa with paneer chilly. It was amazing!!! The neer doss was thin..almost transparent & it tasted heavenly with paneer chilly...a very good example of fusion food...south indian & indo-chinese :-)

I'm definitely goin there again!

A treat for vegetarians

I went there a few days ago with a 3 other colleagues from work. This Shiv Sagar is located right next to Kamlings and Mocha on the road that connects the Churchgate Station to Marine Drive. There is another Shiv Sagar in the vicinity, but that is located in the the Eros building and is a much crampier version of the one we went to.

Anyhoo, this Shiv Sagar has got an outdoor seating area as well as an indoor air-conditioned seating. With the summer heat (I know it is September) making a big comeback, the indoor section seemed inviting and we opted for that.

Their menu contains everything that you can possibly think of - Chat, Chinese, Indian, Mexican, Italian, Mediterranean etc etc. Now this place serves 100% vegetarian food. So when you see some Tangri dish, it would actually have carrots substituting for the Chicken Tangris.

They also have a good variety of drinks (beer, wine, hard liquor, mocktails) on the menu. Don't expect them to have any Glenfiddichs or Grey Goose. The top liquor they serve is Black Dog, Antiquity etc. You get the point. The neat part is the tons of Chakhna (light snacks) they serve during your round of drinks. Peanuts, Carrots, Cucumber, Chakri, Sev, Papad etc all keep coming non-stop. It is all gratis with your drinks.

The food was really really tasty. We've tried their Punjabi dishes and they were all very well cooked and flavourful.

I would also give full marks to their friendly service, though sometimes the waiters don't know one punjabi dish from another. Who can blame them, though? How many of us can actually tell the difference Paneer Ludhiana, Paneer Amritsari and Paneer something something anyways?.

So full marks for everything - Food, Ambiance, Service and the quantity and variety of Chakhna.

Ps: This is not a place where you would want to go to impress your date. Just take my word for it.
