Eat as much you like..!!
A nice vegetarian restaurant. For the price you pay this was value for money. You have to wait 30 to 40 minutes on Sunday evening. The system was efficient and service was really good. A veg restaurant that is mainly frequented by office goers as it is situated in the prime commercial hub of south Mumbai. Popular for its Thalis and quick service, it is very crowded between 1-3 pm. Gujurati thali is very delicious. Price is economical. I tried punjabi food is awesome as well.
Family time & lunch gallore...
This place is known for it delightful lunch service.
Based in the main commercial area of nariman point it has to be one of the best and quickest food joints for any office goer.
They serve full fledge gujarati thalis as well as a la carte. Some of their delicacies are simply amazing.
Have gone there for lunch many times - their perfect crunchy chat is aloo papdi chat and the samosa chat.
Cheese balls in chilli garlic sauce is one of their hot favourites.
Have tried their paneer mushroom masala & kaju malai mutter with the black dal which not as great as Copper Chimney, but not bad either. All the dishes are absolutely filled with flavour & rich in taste.
A big thumbs up from a crazy food lover. You must also try their buttermilk which is amazingly refreshing.
Being close to my workplace, I'm a regular visitor. The crowd outside defines its class and specialty. The Handi Biryani is famous but it's too much for a single person to completely hog in. The only issue is too much of crowd which is not managed properly and at times gets very worse. Staff are bit rude at times when crowd gets more- Natural!
All Cuisine in Gujju Style
It quite a favourite amongst old-time Mumbaikars and since it's an ONLY VEG restaurant, its patronized by Gujju's / Marwadi etc... Especially made in pure ghee,it gives a good taste to your food as well as it makes sure that you left your plate empty..Someone who wants to sleep after having food then this seems to be the best option... 'Royal service'..... 'Multiple options in al-a-carte' too. Properly customize according to customer preference and taste.. Left satisfied
Completely satisfied :D
Had kept a surprise dinner party for my Mom's 50th birthday here. We were a total of 28 people and the management was completely co-operative and their service up to the mark.
Had to reach there pretty early in order to get the table for 30 people but in the end we were able to get all the tables next to each other. The attendants did their job very well. They forgot to bring one dish which we had asked for and as soon as they realized this they apologized and bought it rapidly.
Inspite of attending so many people(It was Holi, so a holiday) they never let it affect the quality of the food even a bit.
The final bill was also within the tab we had planned to spend on this. In short it was an amazing experience here.
They even played the Birthday song for mum. Yay!!
Family ke sath hi jaana !!!!
An amazing place to be out with family for dinner. A little expensive but quality food. The items that are a must try are paneer chilly and all other starers. The place serves good South Indian food as well. However there is just one problem. There is a long waiting line so it would be advisable to go early. The ambiance is nice. Do not worry before going to this place because it is definitely a good place to eat !
complete family fun and food
its one of the finest reataurants of the SOBO best in its class service ,food, ambience, its just mind blowing i like this place very much as its good to be here everytime i visit with friends or family ...the quality and variety of food STATUS has its just fantastic my favourite here is the corn tikki and also the masala khichiu nice Gujrati Indian food .....and also not to forget the south Indian food which you get outside is also amazing especially the upma and mysore dosa chatni sambhar is also the best ,,,,....My most favourite
Tasty Food = High Prices = Quality Assurances
It has become a sort of a family restaurant for dinners...it has a party hall also ... the food is really amazing but highly priced...there's always a waiting to have your dinner or lunch...approximately 45 mins which can be extended to even and hour or more....there is a fast food section where they serve you with yummy south indian menu and sandwiches....they serve you with quality food...garlic bread or corn on toast is which the restaurant can boast of...their south indian cuisine is great and tantalising the taste buds...it is authentic....they even serve thalis which is also good,...
Fantastic food & Quick Services
Talking about Status Restaurant will always top my list. I have fallen in love with that place ever since I went there for the first time with my in-laws. Its a place where there is unlimited food, unlimited fun and unlimited happiness. We always go there for dinner on any family occasion!
Favourite Veg Restaurant
This is a restaurant which i have been visiting since childhood...celebrated birthdays & many occasions here...love the tomato soups to begin with...their starters/chats are exceptionally great...There is not just 1 thing I can pick...der rumali rotis to their desserts everything is yum...their dosas & kurma is also worth the mention...
when we hear the name of a Nariman point restaurant, we tend to think that its gonna be an expensive one, but Status is really value for money. the food is really tasty (if you want to judge, dont go to any restaurant on weekends) and the ambiance is soothing. in true sense its a family place. you wont find the loud noise of youngsters, but corporate people on weekdays and family people who came to marine drive or nariman point on weekends.
Status is good!
It's a typical restaurant that serves almost all types of food: north Indian, south Indian, continental...... I found the thali and the appetizers to be really good. They have these mini versions of everything and the mini pav bhaji was decently tasty. If the place was near to my office or house I would have gone there a lot. Status is good!
Pretty Decent . Great Corn bhel
Status in Nariman Point has been a Nariman Point institution. Reshmi Paratha and Sabji in afternoon's sells like hot cakes. The Dosas are pretty good too.
The turnaround time - which really matters in a business district like Nariman point is extremely good. They have an amazing Corn Bhel which very few people are aware about The Biryani is a joke . Never ever try that.
The Gujarati Thali is really good as well.
Drop in on one of the evenings for Corn Bhel and Mysore Masala Dosa :)
This is one of mine & my fly fav restaurant.
you will get variety of food & Gujju food is must try.
My uncle visited India some years back & being a restaurateur he wanted to try few restaurants around city. Status topped the list for him. He just loved the food, ambiance, service & the offering on the table, specially Chundo. Its so mouthwatering.
The thali served is delectable again & worth trying.
I can go here any point of time.
Love this place.
Perfect place for a family eatout
I must have gone to Status several times what with my office in that area. I must say the food is simply excellent. One must visit this place to taste the exquisite variety and mouthwatering dishes. I simply loved every dish that I have ordered. This is one noisy loud place to simply enjoy your food. Though I do feel they should increase their variety in the sweet dishes section. One will come out with a lighter pocket but hearty feeling of fullness.
One Word - Mumbai's Best Commercial Oundiyu
The Best place for the Oundiyu. An Awesome Gujrati Delicacy. Other than that I find most of them really good and Hygenic. Only thing is you should be there by 7 pm or you have to wait a solid 30 mins. That pretty much gives you the "Status"it commands in the heart of Mumbaikar.
Sundays and its the family day and if you are hitting town, Dinner is for sure at STATUS. It was a time when Mumbai was not flooded with restaurants as today and this was among the best. It is still as good as before, I still love the Punjabi food out here. The tadka in the preparation is quite different than any other Punjabi restaurant. It makes even the JAIN preparation taste good :) Have been going here since childhood, would be happy to go here any day.
Not as good as described by my gujarati friends..
you cant afford to miss this place if you have a few gujrati friends who stay in town. thay will make sure to organise a lunch meeting or a get-together at this place. The place gets crowded during lunchtime, no matter if its a weekday or a weekend. make sure you have some buffer time.
my visit here has been with fellow gujarati and marwari friends who swear by the food. the food is nice, chaats are good, but suited towards gujarati palette (on the sweeter side)
gravies are standard, and vegetable curries are a little oily. but the most horrible thing is garlic naan.. i ordered a garlic naan and was given with a huge naan with enormous amounts of garlic, i scrapped most of it and then also my whole body was smelling like garlic even after hours.. could have killed a few vampires.. :P
Too good. Wat consistency ! Respect
Love the idli , thali , paneer tikka masala !!
Best place to host your family parties in their banquet
Very good and fast service.
Very very busy on weekends.
Don't go on Saturday sunday nights , it ll b impossible to get in ..
Owner driven place ... Makes a different .. Good job mr pai saab
Used to frequent this place when my office was in nariman point. Its the best choice for people working in nariman point who want hygenic food in a pleasant ambience.
Love the gujarati thali and the staff is always accomodating to change my dessert to something i like. I hated eating khichdi, but after trying it out at status i just love it.
If you want to grab a snack at a comparatively affordable price, they have an outside place allocated for just that. The dosas and idlis are superb, with unlimited cocount chutney and sambhar :-)
The thali and khichdi are things i would definitely recommend to anyone. Just a note of caution..if you are going to eat and go back to office work, you are sure gona be sleepy after having the thali :-)
Amazing Gujarati Thali
Everyone who has worked in Nariman Point must have surely visited this place.
They have two sections, for a quick bite in the morning or in the evenings you have east at their outdoor section and a plush indoor restaurant for Lunch/dinner.
Good variety of options are available at the outdoor section, the Rava Idli here is my favorite. The Pav bhaji and dosa are also worth a try. The pricing of this section is also very good and the service is also quick. You first pay and then wait for your order, like a fast food joint :)
The restaurant is Plush, but there is a wait time as with many other good places in Mumbai. The Gujarati Thali is excellent here, the service was very good and the taste of the dishes is also delicious. It's a must try. I especially loved the Theplas, they were very well made.
It's a must visit for anyone who works in Nariman Point and wants to have some good food at decent prices in this posh South Bombay locality!
The only 'good' option for vegans nearby
After few failed efforts to find some good vegan food in southern Mumbai, I stumbled upon this place and it certainly was a satiating experience. This crowded place provides really good food at amazingly moderate prices considering its location. Only advice would be, do not try any funky dishes. Go for those regular popular ones. Starters are somewhat average in quality. Side dishes is a weakness (raita was pathetic). Cheese Chilly Garlic naan is amazing, something you must try (avoid if you're not a chilly fan).
Desserts provide less variety again, but rest assured, you'll be more than full when you leave this place.
Value for money
Location - excellen, heart of Mumbai
Service - too good. Example for newer joints. Courteous, prompt, smiling staff.
Hygeine - too good.
Food - above average. Nothing out of the world but good for a family outing.
Items to focus - South Indian, Gujarati Thali...but the best is black dal and fulka
Value for Money
The moment i entered the place , it felt good.Things i ordered was paneer burji & kulcha and butter milk. its the first time i actually saw a different way of paneer burji being served.there were crumbled pieces of paneer with soft tomato and capsicum.normally burji is like gravy and more oinion but the burji they served paneer was stand out in the whole dish,it was light and yummy.
the reason i gave it 3stars it is just that i had better food elsewhere.Surely it is value for money and a decent place to go with family.
Good & Noisy
One of the better options for Gujarati Food in Mumbai. Location is excellent near Nariman Point & going on Rainy day from Marin Drive to Nariman point itself was a treat. Ambiance is very spacious with comfortable seating. Being Sunday there was no advance reservation but after 15 -20 minutes of waiting we got in. It was packed house show with Cheerful Gujarati Families chatting as loud as possible. We were eight & did not want to waste more time in selecting items from menu we order 6 thalis & 2-3 more dishes. Items served in tails were vast in numbers,.hot & Fresh. Four vegetables were ok not great, but nice part was they were with less oil & masalas. Palak samosa were soft & testy. Sandwich dhokla were puffy & perfect. Gulab Jamun was as delicious as they are served in Delhi. Aam Ras was with synthetic test. Dal , Kadhi, Pulka rotis etc were just perfect so as Khichadi & rice. Overall it was good package but being Sunday be sure that quality of food served anywhere in Mumbai gets little mediocre due to huge turnout of people. Once in a while it is good fun to have such food with atmosphere of Guajarati wedding party (If you can bear the noise made by them as if they were on dining table of their home)
Take Away Counter
More than the restaurant, try this for best South Indian snacks and juices. The Upma preparation in true Udipi style, is the best anywhere in Mumbai. Crisp vadas and soft idlis served with freshly-made coconut chutney and piping hot sambhar will get you asking for more. A place for regular breakfast and lunch for many of those working in Nariman Point is also a 'not-to-be-missed' place for visitors to the area.
loose motions and acidity
ordered 2 thalis and 1 panner makhanwala gravy
both my ganny and i landed with acidity and a loose motions within 4 hrs ,
service was slow and the waiter was serving the people next to us when they came good 5 mins after us , yes because of a girl sitting in western clothes , looks like the waiters never saw a lady in western before .

Good South Indian, Average North Indian fare
A regular hangout for office-goers, Status offers Thalis too. I haven't had that in a long time so wouldn't comment.
Status is one of my favourite restaurants and I've always been dropping in here for snacks or coffee with colleagues, which have always turned out to be good.
I had lunch here today, after almost a year and sadly state that I didnt quite enjoy it. The vegetable and paneer dishes had no distinct taste from each other ( unless of course you called for a white gravy based dish). The prices too have increased, not at all justifying the quality of food. Disappointing! Hoping for better stuff next time!
Real Value for Money
i have tried South Indian dishes at umpteenth restaurants but STATUS is the showstopper, the crisp dosas with unlimited helpings of sambhar and chutney keeps me coming back for it.Also there punjabi food and other starters are amazing.I think they can claim to be one the biggest dining restaurants in mumbai. Dining at STATUS is an experience in itself!
Good place and good food. I have had a good experince overall, but I didn't like the paneer bhurji, it was very bland in taste. The Garlic Naan and Onion Kulcha were too good. The Dosa sambar are also too good. The way they server South Indian food is good, with unlimited sambar!!
The food was tasteless and bland, and there was no Chinese food. I only went there to get dimsums, and there wasn't any. I also wanted some Hyderabadi Mutton Mint Biryani, and the mutton was missing, as well as the Hyderabadi. This is not good, why is the restaurant Vegetarian, don't you know I am a meat-eater? I am going to talk to the PM about this. This is not first-class, this was like non-AC chair car. Shocking behavior.
PS: I have never been there.
Love this place
I totally love the thali here..full paisa vasool happens. I have been told the prices have gone up but think it is still worth it. Service is fantastic but then they are always full whether it is a busy weekday afternoon or even a Sunday night! Do go and enjoy the food. Oh and don't miss the mini pav-bhajis :)
Good food at their `status` price :)
This place rocks, my usual lunch place but sometimes it was necessary to look for change as food here is little spicy with lot of oil/ghee/butter in each item.
Puri bhaji, idli-sambhar and veg biryani are mostly hot selling items here, facility of eating outdoor w/o a/c or indoor with a/c are there.
Service is good and fast, also you can call any service boy when outdoor; for water, stuffed onion, coconut chutney, sambhar, pickle...that too many times :)
Nice place and if you are working at Nariman Point, you hardly have other choice for regular eat out at value for money.
Great gujju fare!!!
It's my second or third trip to the place and it gets better each time.. i guess it grows on the veggies.. this time i took two non veggies there.. The banquet hall is a jolly slightly noisier section. On a sat night because of our odd number(three) v got a immediate seating in the main area.. the surprise was the mixed farsan.. delectable fare..the ladies just mentioned how crisp the sesame on toast was and then the waiter freaked out getting us extra helpings...well even without that barring a full house the place is definitely a good eating joint...quick service, courteous..and fast billing too.. keep it up..
A Nariman Point Regular
I think if you are working in Nariman Point there is no way you wouldn't have eaten here. They have an outside standing section and an indoor AC section.
I don't know how they do it but like everything Ive eated here. Warnign the food is loaded with heaps and heaps of calories but would leave you licking your fingers.
Recommended: Reshmi paratha and kurma (only outside or takeway) which changes everyday, khichdi loaded with ghee. They do good south Indian as well. Love the mango and strawberry milkshake though the stawberry one is made with the crush and not fresh fruit.
A complete package
Even though run by Shettys, the restaurant has an amazingly authentic Gujju thaali which is rich and satisfies you! The fast food counter outside serves good food though I believe it is overpriced. (Yes, despite it being located in Nariman Point, other nearby joints are not that expensive for stand and eat options!). Kichdi Kadi, Gujju Thali and Dosa are the best options to go for.
Starters to the end...
Status is a place where pure veggies (and of course staunch jains) can have a go for their craving taste buds. A place which serves authentic indian cuisine starting from mouth watering punjabi to delicious south indian and not to forget tasty tasty chinese. But its the variety of starters that this place offers and the taste which makes any mouth generate a waterfall.
A nice cozy family restaurant at a prime location of the city with food that will make your stomach heavy as ever without lightening your purse too much.
A go go for the veggie foodies.
The Paneer Tikka Rocks!!
This is one of those restaurants that practically serve every Indian dish there is.
The flavour of some of the punjabi dishes has been given a gujurati flavour but the most of the menu is quite good. It's just that I don't like Gujurati food too much ;)
The main course aside, there's a good variety of starters like paneer tikka ( the best I've ever had anywhere), aaloo chaat, corn bhel, mini pao bhaji (!!) etc.
The main course also gives a good range of vegetables and rotis.
The only downside to the place is that it feels a bit cramped. Also, on weekends you'll have to wait atleast a half hour for seats (dinner time) as they don't take reservations on weekends.
All in all a good family lunch/dinner place.
Fast food as it should be.
Status is a great little place to eat in the Nariman point area. One of the few places not based in a hotel or cinema complex it provides excellent vegetarian food to eat in or takeaway.
If you are in a hurry go to the counter and order a parcel or stand at the high tables and eat there. For a more leisurely meal go inside and sit in the bright and airy main restaurant. Here you can choose from a huge menu of main meals and snacks. prices are fair (especially for Nariman)with few items over 120Rs. Service is quick and the waiters attentive. Portions are substantial, 1 rice will feed 2 and the main courses could easily be shared. The cheese naan is to die for...
If you are arriving over lunchtime be sure to get there before 1pm or the office staff from the surrounding blocks will have taken all the seats and will have you queining outside for a table. You have been warned!
