Great Addition to Thane Food Scene
Stone Oven is a WOW addition to Thane Food Scene.
Have tried this out now nearly 10 times in 3 months (both places - food is same)
and the Quality is consistently HIGH.
Cream of Mushroom for a smooth soup, Rustic Tomato for a perky soup, Lasagne, Pink Tango Pasta, Pana Cotta for a sweet finish are all Must Tries. The Pizzas I have had were also good - but could do with a little more cheese ?
Nitesh is an excellent Host. Service is great and hope this continues. Nice to find Waiters who can explain the dishes :)
Keep it up Nitesh
Authentic thin crust pizzas
One of my colleagues at work suggested me this joint (i call it a joint than a restaurant as its a small place where there are 5 tables on the lower floor with four covers each and 3 tables in the A/C section a floor above). Was damn excited to visit this place as there are very few places in Mumbai which serve authentic thin crust pizzas also the person who owns has started this concept is a Hotel Management Graduate and I have myself done HM. The only one I know of is the coffee shop of Vivanta by Taj President - Trattoria. They serve the best thin crust pizzas in Mumbai.
We tried the Minestrone Soup with Pesto based sauce, my friend who accompanied me is a complete foodie and he did not like the soup as Minestrone is a thick soup of Italian origin made with vegetables, often with the addition of pasta or rice. Common ingredients include beans, onions, celery, carrots, stock, and tomatoes but we had to search the macaroni pasta in the soup which was very less and the vegetables were hardly seen, the soup was also not thick the way it should be. I liked the soup as the taste it what matters to me, my friend too loved the taste though. We accompanied the soup with Cheese & Chilly garlic bread which was just perfect, light & crispy that just melts in your mouth. The taste of chilly blends so well on your palate with the cheese that we ordered for a second serving. Then we had a thin crust pizza with paneer & Barbecue Sauce (we replaced the mushrooms with capsicum) which was again very tasty, the base of the pizza very thin n crispy.
For dessert, we ordered Panna cotta (Italian cooked cream) which is an Italian dessert made by simmering together cream, milk and sugar, mixing this with gelatin, and letting it cool until set which was innovative as it was with flavours, we tried the black currant n mango combination which was also nice.
One should visit this place just for the authentic Italian cuisine and not be bothered about the ambiance as it a small joint. I can understand the owner is a young entrepreneur and has just started a business. It takes a lot of effort, capital, workforce to start a restaurant. Its not an easy task. All this cost us just 640 bucks!!!
Overall experience was nice as we met the owner, though he was damn busy last Sunday evening who also mentioned that he has taken a place at Korum Mall, Thane. So that will be a place with nice ambiance plus the nice food.
Will definitely visit again, hope you take the feedback positively and all the very best for your future endeavors.
Great Italian food!
When I went there on a Thursday evening I was surprised to see no one else..So was skeptical in the beginning..Tried their Pesto based Minestrone Soup..it was refreshing..had garlic bread along with it..it was good..we ordered a pink pasta..never heard of a pink sauce before ..asked the waiter..he said it was a mixture of red sauce and white..we tried it..it is the best pasta i have tried in thane so far..the menu is creative and innovative ...plan to make frequent visits to the place!
True Italian flavours
I had heard a lot about this place, but i could never really find it.I must have passed by it a million times but it just wud'nt catch my eye. Finally i had to walk by every joint nearby to find this place. This place is well known for its Thin crusts, and believe me u wud'nt be disappointed. The crust is super thin freshly rolled out and the falvours are true italian. I had the salami which is easily the best pizza i have had in Thane.
The spicy Chicken Bruschectta is true to it flavours with a slight pleasing tang. The breads toasted well and does'nt get soggy when the chickens added on top of it nor is it too dry. The pinacolada & bluberry pannacotta did deliver in flavour, the consistency was just perfect ,but was overly sweet for my liking. Over all An amazing Italian experience in terms of food, i believe the First in Thane.Nitesh the menu is appetizing and delivers in flavour, the ambiance cud do a little better, but i suggest u to market ur concept a lil more aggressively as u hit the right notes with the Flavours of Italian food. Also if u could find an invester and moove in to a bigger place the M sure ull do SO much more better.
The ambience and facilities at Stone Oven are nowhere in line with its positioning suggested by the Menu as well as its location, right next to Talao Pali. One can understand it is difficult for a first gen entrepreneur to put in the investment in space, facilities and decor. But Nitish, restauranting is never about just the food, it is about an experience. The outer open section usually is chaotic and smelly (the gutter passing by). The upper section is claustrophobic. And the serving staff is too naive. It is a much better experience when Nitish himself is around.
The food and choice of menu? Top class, and elevating the standards of Thane gourmet for sure. Quality: good.
But, however I want to keep coming back for those dishes, I find it almost impossible to sit there and enjoy the meal with my partner. And with the positioning you have, college crowds won't be enough.
Do something fast about upgrading the place. You have proven the concept, now get an investor to put in money. You can go a long way!
The place reminds me of small joints I ate during my college days. The only great difference is the food is excellent. I ate Chicken Barbeque Pizza, Daivoli Pizza, Aflredo Pasta, Mexican Chilly rice and for dessert,Fresh Mango Panacotta. All the dishes were very delicious. Full marks.
Must try for - Italian food in Thane
I had been to this place twice.
Haven't tried much of variety, but whatever I have had is nice....Pink pasta, Garlic bread.
What makes this place special is, its casual ambience (mainly in an area where this kind of place are few or none), their prompt service, aptness in setting the menu and treating the customers !
Will like to see this chain expanding and further start serving casual alcoholic beverages, beer, mocktails etc....Thane really need this kind of casually set European style cafe.
I logged in to Burrp - rather joined Burrp, to write this review only......way to go Stone Oven!
I had heard of this place and vistited with my cousin today...
I usually dont wirte reviews but the experience was so bad that i am doing it today...
While eating our mexcan rice we noticed hair in it and whihc was brought immediately to the otice of the manager.
He took the bowl to the kichent and didnt return, sencing there behaviour we asked for the bill and wanted to leave.
Shockingly they didnt even apologize and presented complete bill...
So asking of what did he do of our complain he replied that it must come from outside...most riduculous defence!!
That means they only didnt address the complain of a patron but even were not acknoledging it..
I can only make out one thing from it that this place was least concern about the quality
and by there behaviour where not even wanting it to improve in future...
Bad very bad, place like this should be boycotted...we dont pay money to eat their hairs!!!!
Loved the food here.
Superb primavera pizza, wood fired and well done , which had olives, artichoke and sun dried tomato. Forgot the name of the pasta but it was a chefs recommendation - very unusual and yummy - small sabudana kind pasta balls but very tasty.
Service was warm and friendly.
I am surely going back for more here
Yummiest Italian Food I ever had.... Perfect 10/10
Just loved the authentic and real Italian food there.....
Started with a Pesto based soup ( What a break from the conventional ones)..
Mushroom with toast Bruschetta - One of the best starters u can ever have..
Also if u love thin crust Pizza this is the place to be....
But the start of the day for me was the Alfredo Pasta a la' - Yummi white cream pasta.....
Risotto rice was also yum.......
And last bust definitely not the least the deserts.....loved all of them... Panna Cota (all flavours), Tiramisu and Choco cake......
All in all... a perfect italian restaurant u would never wanna miss.......
I'll ber going there again and again and again for sure...:)
Expecting more on next visit
Read so much about this place hence decided to visit it. Have heart about amazing nachos they serve, hence ordered them-- TOTAL DISAPPOINTING...!! you can get much much much better Nachos at Creme Center,Bombay Blue or New Yorker..
The waiter informed us that they have done something special in the Nachos recipe to improve its taste.. Did NOT feel anything special.. Not worth 200 bucks...!!! ordered some Mushroom pepper Sizzler which was really good..Veggies were perfectly blanched, sauce was ample..it was really nice.. But the Nachos had some creamy-cheesy like thing on top which was pretty bland tasting n could almost feel it for a while... Their pastries are really good. Had a almond choc pastry which was delightful..
Ambiance is OK OK..its a small place, well decorated.
But the waiters are really rude and impolite. They don't say anything on your face.but once you turn your back, they talk anything rubbish like if the customer didn't tip them well, they use abusive words,or they see a girl n boy holding hands then these guys have some morality issues.. The Restaurant authority (if they are listening) should teach such jerk waiters to mind their own business and serve the customers instead of goofing around during service hours...
Food quality- 3/5
Quantity - 3.5/5
ambiance - 3/5
Service - 1/5
worth of money - 3/5
Would like to visit again but won't have nachos for sure and will go for a take out instead of dining in.. The place has so much potential to grow and do much much much better...!!
Best Italian Food in Mumbai
I'm a Western business traveler with a taste for Italian food. Stone Oven is flat out the best Italian food I've had in Mumbai. The thin crust pizzas are particularly excellent.
Nitesh, if you read this I have a suggestion for expanding your menu:
Aubergines (brinjal!). My favorite Italian dish is melanzane parmigiana (known in the US as eggplant parmesan) This consists of brinjal sliced in thin rounds, breaded (flour then egg then bread crumbs), fried or baked, and then layered together in a tomato based sauce with cheese on top, or even in between layers.
Partially roasted or pan fried aubergines also make a good pizza topping, or a vegetable to mix with pasta.
I highly recommend the Stone Oven to anyone who appreciates Italian food, or wants to try something new.
I wanted to come to this place from a long time. Finally came here on a Saturday night and it was full, we had to wait for 45mins to get our table. They did call us once our table was available.
We took the table on the first floor. The ambience is okayish type. We Started with Garlic bread.Pizza.Chicken Lasange.Pasta. we did not try the deserts. The food arrived quickly almost 8~10 minutes.
Everything was good but the Chicken pasta alla Vodka was totally awesome.
Total Damage of Rs 1750. Will surely make another visit here soon.Overall its a Very Good Restaurant.
Awesome Italian Food
Thanx to burrp to help me find the best Italian Food Joint in Thane. Awesome is the word for everything they server there, Tacos (WoW), Pizza (Can't forget the taste and specially the thin crust, havent had better than that in Mumbai atleast), tried the veg pasta. im a pure vegetarian bored of the regular Punjabi food /or fast food. Have finally got my pick. Great job Nitesh. Keep up the good work. i just hope that there is consistency. All the best.
Italian Destination- Netural
Well tried the new location as there was a lot reivew in burrp for this place...Me being Veg & my friend Non-veg. We started off with Garlic bread platter- it had 3( a single slice of bread cut into two) pairs of garlic bread in different type. One pair of plain gralic bread, one pair of cheese and another spicy(containing sprinkle of red chilly. It was ok to me as it actually lacked the garlic flavour that was i looking for. Then ordered Tom-Chetta's Bruschetta, garlic bread that had Tomatoes,basil- with olive oil dressing which was good. Main Course was Lasagne Veg & Non Veg ( we were trying it first time) Felt my Veg Lasagne lacked bit of Vegatable , but was loaded with cheese to my opinion, my non-veg friend found his good. Finally we had Tiramisu which had the coffee flavour as promised, but the sponge cake hmmm was soggy...With the rate and the ambience it was ok to my experience. But will try out Risotto rice next time i am there....
Pride of Thane city
I am still relishing the taste of Tiramisu....
Best place with a best combination of taste, hospitality and ambiance.
Red & white pasta combination is something different which resolves your confusion of selecting only one..
Ask the chef to recommend you.. blindly follow his suggestions.. I bet you will never regret.
One request to stone oven... Please accept debit cards... :)
A true diamond in the rough.
I had heard a lot about this restaurant but did not get a chance to visit it until recently. The restaurant is located off Ram Maruti Road in Thane, close to the Talao Pali lake. However it is also situated next to a drainage ditch and the stench can sometimes get overpowering. That's the reason for the title.
This restaurant is a true diamond - a unique find with great tasting Italian food. It is rare for a suburb like Thane to have a restaurant serving a specific cuisine. The selection of pizzas and pastas is wide enough to cover the most common sauces - marinara, Alfredo and pesto - and is also small enough to allow the owner/chef to hand prepare them once they are ordered. This means, you get your food fresh once you order it. All the pizzas are thin crust pizzas cooked to perfection. The pasta lacks some selection like angel hair and penne, but is no cause for docking points off this fine establishment.
The selection of desserts is also very appropriate for the cuisine served; they were out of the Tiramisu when we went - another indication of the strict quality control of the chef. We thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate lava cake; I hope to go back and try the Tiramisu.
If Thane West is one of your regular haunts, make a trip to this place - you will not be disappointed.

Just the perfect place
I'm a big fan of STONE OVEN and I loved this place too. Just the perfect ambiance and yummy food. I never get tired of trying the new dishes out here and never got disappointed, this time the dish was the NACHOS ,Pizza Pia & Pizza Salami. it was mind blowing! The service is also pretty well and Nitesh is friendly enough to give you some suggestions too. This place will definitely get five stars from me!
Authentic taste served with an authentic smile !
Have been to this place several times with my entire family. any pasta that you order here, tastes awesome ! We also loved the thin crust stone oven pizzas. In India, in other restaurants, Italian cuisine is unnecessarily expensive but this place is an exception! At right prices for generous quantities. it tops the charts when you are looking for Italian in Thane and around.
Warning : If you are a person who likes to pay for a restaurant's AC and ambiance ( stupid guitars hung up on artificial brick walls with American posters stuck all over ) then I would not recommend this place to you. its simple, no frills, cozy place which focuses on one single thing : great Italian at fair prices !
Hats off to its young owner - Nitesh Save :-)
Wow....just happened to be at the restaurant....
was served with a Pie Pizza.....
initially i thought it might be like other restaurant's taste....
but the fragrance proved me wrong...the moment it came in front of me...i was like.... "Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
i couldn't resist myself..... the taste was wonderful....a never before taste.....
Try this for sure.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing Pizza and Pastas
Stunning delicious pizza and pasta's I have ever had... Well done to Nitesh Save for bringing such delicacies to Thane. Pizza at Stone Oven just surpasses your over -hyped pizzas at Pizza Hut and the rest.
The Pink tango pasta for me is the signature dish of Nitesh and Stone Oven..
The ambiance is good..its at a very well known place in thane.. and the food is by far brilliant if i have to put it.. Guyz who stay in Thane you have to try it out..The place is small..but take home service is worth it... RECOMMENDED FOR EACH AND EVERY THANETIE who wants to experience Italian Cuisine at its best..
Well Done Nitesh..Keep up the good work.
I was told about this place serving 'Penne alla vodka' aka. Vodka Pasta by a fellow foodie friend of mine and when he said its in Thane, I was excited because an Italian Restaurant in a suburb like Thane is something which you don't hear everyday.
So talking about Stone Oven - the food - We had the tacos which to be frank let us down, the thin-crust pizzas however did justice to the ingredients as you can get the hint of everything that goes in them, but the 'Penne alla vodka' is something to savor .
The best thing were the desserts, you shouldn't not miss them.
Some may not like this 'open-air restaurant' but if you are that always-experimenting-with-new-food and place type of a person, you should visit Stone Oven, and I am sure you'll come back more than once.
A Gastronomic Delight!!!!
What to write? It was a Gastronomic delight to visit Stone Oven, Interact with its Owner Cum Chef Nitesh and then feasting upon Garlic Bread delight , Minstrone Soup and Thin Crust Pizzaassssssss! last but not the least the Pasta Strogannof!
An ultimate destination for Thane Foodies looking for small joints with five star food quality, may be even better!
Keep it up!!!!!!!
Some great reviews on Burrp, and the lack of good Italian food in Thane, demanded a visit to this place.
The place is simple and cozy... with some 10 tables for four.
But you start getting good vibes as you enter, when the owner-and-chef (Nitesh) greets you with a smile and ensures that your wait isn't long.
This place is home to one of the Best thin - crust pizzas I have ever had.
The pasta too was amazinngg...
Was too full to try the desserts but will ensure that I do that the next time I visit the place!
The food is Moderately priced so it Does Not leave a hole in ur wallet :)
You know the place is worth a second visit and more when you walk out with a full somach and a wide smile... :)
Heaven On Earth
We recently visited this restaurant and I must tell you its total value for money, the owner of the restaurant himself is a professional italian chef and the menu is planned by him taking into consideration the taste on thaneities. The authentic thin crust pizzas are overwhelming followed by the desserts which makes one feel like enjoying the food in ITALY itself, the ambience is good also the service staff is experienced.... I thank owner NITESH SAVE for providing us such a great experience at a reasonable price.........
Firstly, the food is brilliant, undoubtedly so. The service (in terms of staff attitude and time taken) is very good. The prices are reasonable. The wall paintings (cartoons, Mario Miranda-style) are catchy. The kitchen is there for all to see (generally indicating good hygiene standards). Now the flip side -- the place is small and cramped, the lights are too bright, the water jug was an old and battered plastic bottle, the glass on the table top had a long, wide crack that looked pretty bad. But the food towers over all these minor negatives, and how! I had minestrone soup, a variant of cheese garlic bread (as good as it can get!), and Pizza Rosa (real fresh, crispy, charming, unpretentious, authentic). Nitesh is the owner cum supervisor cum manager of this place and his enthusiasm and dedication will play a great role in making this place a landmark! Some wine (it's an Italian joint for Chissakes!) or some varieties of beer wouldn't have hurt, but i guess that's not a part of the positioning that Nitesh has in mind.
Brilliant place.. ! Unpretentious, quaint, and most importantly, excellent food. Chef Nitesh Save is a great guy. Very easy going and always looking to improve and open to any suggestions you might have. Been going there at least once every 2 weeks since I first went here. Love the Risotto, The garlic bread, and especially the The Molten Lava cake.. Nitesh even shared the recipie with me so i could try it at home. Obviously it wasnt at great as it is in his restaurant... goes to show how confident Nitesh is of his culinary skills.
All-in-all, a great place and Im glad Thane finally has a restaurant that serves authentic Italian food. With an bit of Indian twist if you like.
i went here and experienced food, the true italian way. The appearance of this restaurant might look modest, but beneath it hides the delicious taste of it's dishes.I was amazed by the taste!!!
i tried almost everything i.e. pasta, pizza, nachos, dessert and lasagne. Each had it's own unique flavour and taste. the restaurant come highly recommended for anyone who wants true italian food in thane!!!!
The pizza's thin crust, the nachos's flavour, lasagne's variety of veggies and pasta's creaminess all were one better than the other,
So,what are you waiting for?Go ahead and try italian at it's tastiest best !!!!!!
I myself am from the hospitality background and work in signature italian restaurant... being at this place and eating made me feel that chef nitesh save is doing justice to the cuisine and as well keeping the taste of Indians into consideration giving an extraordinary meal experiance... WORTH VISITING!!
Great Italian food at terrific prices
In one sentence THIS PLACE ROCKS. Stone Oven serves very very tasty pasta and real yummmm thin crust pizzas. The garlic bread is awesome too. And to top it all the prices will not pinch your pocket. If you are a Italian food lover or to be more specific if you are like me who can just live on pizzas then this is the place to go. The deserts are Italian too -- pennacota, tiramisu... It is a small place and the chef is always there up front to speak with you. So it is kind of a homely atmosphere. But at first glance, if you are kind of used to going to fine dine restaurants, then the look of the place will disappoint. If you can live with that, then the place scores top marks on everything else.
Delicious Italian Food
I have shifted to Thane very recently having lived all my life near Dadar. So I wasn't very upbeat about the food culture in Thane and wondered whether I'd get good Italian food anywhere (as it's my favorite cuisine). I read about Stone Oven in burrp.com and decided to give this place a try. It's a very quaint place near Talao Pali, not too pretentious, not too exorbitant. However, the food is simply great and really satiated my taste buds. We had a pasta, some garlic bruschetta, and pizza and all the dishes were simply superb! We were so happy that we asked for the owner and paid him our compliments. On his recommendation, we ordered panacotta for dessert and were drooling over it by the end of our meal. I would highly recommend this place for good Italian cooked with simplicity and finesse at the same time.
An Italian Delicasy..!!
Now this one really surprises me.. Especially after considering d limitations of space.. The owner Nitesh Save has really done a gr8 job.. Hats off..!!
For the lovers of Italian food.. Now u dont need to travel town side to satisfy ur taste Buds.. Coz Stone Oven has it all.. Authenticity and simplicity at its best..
To start with, the chicken clear soup will kick off ue appetite.. I wud suggest Tomato soup for d veggies.. The capsicum n mushroom garlic bread is a must have..
In the main course, the pink sauce pasta steals d show.. Its a blend of Tomato and white sauce gives a great flavor to it.. The Freshly baked thin crust pizzas are mind blowing..The desserts are amazing(specially black current panna cotta)..
But the most surprising part was the bill amount.. A full course meal will cost you 200-250 Rs per head.. Now isn't that reesonable??
To sum it up.. The owner himself asking you how d food was gives a homely feeling.. Stone Oven is a must try Italian food outlet..
Different and Excellent
After passing by the restaurant quite a many times we happened to finally visit the place today. The menu card begins with an introduction of the founder which was very nice. The authentic Italian dishes taste as marvelous as they sound. The pizza that we had was delicious and was as original as it could get. So was the soup and garlic bread. The dessert Panna Cotta was superb with coffee flavor. The owner and chef's presence in the restaurant makes it even nicer.
A Great Experience. If you want to taste a pure Italian cuisine with very authentic pizzas and pastas, Stone Oven is the place you need to be at.
Good Place To Have Delicious Pizza
I had good garlic bread after about two years. Pizza was good, pizza hut n Dominos etc are nowhere in competition. I usually dont recommend any restaurant, but I can recommend this one. My next treat for any reason would be here ...
Please note, I visited burrp.com just to post my review about this place.
Awesome food, Stone Oven Rocks ..
Food is what exotic is all about....me and my friends went on a last Saturday we were seated in the AC section which was comfortable enough... we ordered sum starters like Garlic bread & Soup it was really awesome. Then we ordered 1 Non veg lasagna & pizza Ross for the mains course. Trust me it was the best lasagne & pizza I had tasted for a never before.
great food, great price!
i dont beleive i dint go to this place all this while.went there last week and i am in luv wid the food!!!i luvd d pasta,n d choco cake! simple place, excellent taste, excellent service, just right!nothing jazzy! thats the best thing about this place.you can sit back and enjoy ur meal! and if u r an Italian food fan, do NOT miss this!
m goin bak pretty soon!
simple,fresh & delicious- ''veramente gustoso''
This is a tiny place serving delicious thin crust pizzas which you can never get in those american pizza joints..Best thing about this place is the quick service. But the pastas here couldn't score well in my gastronomy rating..found the sauce a bit too watery in couple of pastas i've tried so far.. But would definitely recommend it to all the american pizza joint fans..please try out the food here..i bet you would never go back to pizza hut , domino's .Thumbs up to the chef!!!
Great Italian food
Been to this place twice. Small and neat. Tasty and yet different. The thin crust pizza are quite good. Definitely better than the Dominos and Pizza Huts of the world. The prices too are reasonable. We also tried the soup, garlic bread, and pasta, out of which the pasta was quite good. Also, the fact that Chef Nitesh does customize your dish the way you want, adds to the experience..
I'd recommended visiting and checking it out for yourself.
Amazing Italian food!!
this is a really small place...u may miss it if u dont know what u r looking for.....but the food is absolutely fantastic!!! and the desserts even better!! I would highly recommend this place for all Italian food lovers near Mulund & Thane!! I will definitely be visiting Stone Oven again soon
Thin n crispy pizzas
This tiny place is a great little find. They serve thin n crisp pizzas which r very light jst perfect!! Tried their Pizza Rosa which was loaded with veggies n great on taste. Also had the Alfredo pasta which was creamy n flavorful. To finish off we had the Chocolate Panna cotta which was also light and perfect. Overall a great meal which was light on the stomach as well as the pocket. Two thumbs up for the chef/owner Nitesh for creating this awesome place where theres nothing but indian food found around. Will definitely go there again!!
Good food served with a smile!
We wanted to celebrate a friend's birthday in June 2011. We learnt about the restaurant from burrp and decided to experiment. The place is easy to find, it is right opposite Raymond showroom near talopali. The place serves excellent thin crust pizzas, pastas and garlic bread. We tried lasange and pizza and pasta suggested by the chef and they were all exceptional. In desserts one should definitely try the chocolate cake, if you are a chocolate fan.
Would definitely go again.
FANTAASTIC ITALIAN CUISINE
Amazing quality food ! We had Barbeque chicken pizza, pizza rosa, pink tango pasta, chocolate cake ( lava types !) and mango strawberry dessert on sunday afternoon on 19th june 2011...it was awesome ! and amazingly low prices....much much better than over-hyped and over priced pizza-hut,smokin-joe's and domino's...keep it up nitesh ! I can say Stone oven is one of the finest italian eating outlets in mumbai and suburbs
Great food/value, good for business travellers
We had great food all around. The thin crust pizza and the pasta in pink sauce in particular were excellent. Vegetables indicated good ingredient selection and the food was clearly cooked skillfully. Flavors were well organized, pasta was perfectly cooked, the pink sauce in particular was well developed.
We have dined at the Satkar Residency, United21, and a few other upscale establishments, but so far this is the best Italian food we have encountered in Mumbai. And also much cheaper.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to Indians, European and American expatriates, and international travelers. The food is relatively cheap, compared to other options, very tasty, and most importantly for those traveling internationally - clean.
The proprietor is an upward moving young man with kitchen experience in a top hotel in Mumbai having an emphasis on Italian food, and so the food is many notches above what one would expect for the price. The owner is also very courteous, and so I would expect good service and staff quality as a general rule.
I have no doubt that this restaurant will soon expand its business.
A well deserved five stars. I will be recommending this place to my friends and business associates, as well as posting further reviews on expat & traveling sites.
Stone Oven is undoubtedly the best place for pasta in Thane. I recommend the Pink Tango, which comes in red spicy sauce with cheese! The thin crust pizzas are good too, esp the mushrooms they use. Ditto for their soups. Total value for money. The ambiance is simple and sweet. Stone Oven is a good place for a casual dinner with a couple of friends or family.
