Something good in the area!

Have been to many a TGI in Bombay and the US. This one right here matches up to the standards.
A recent visit here, after I began missing the place shortly after my return from the States, proved to be sort of fruitful. It all started when we were rushing to the place to catch the 8.30 Happy Hours on everything. The 3 of us sat and ordered LITs like it was for a gang of thirsty trekkers. 3 amazingly made LITs, nachos, some Chicken dish and bruschettas later, I was transported into the US high.
Service was great. Our server made sure we got everything on time and perfect. The inside of the place is kinda drab and boring. They could try to match up the Palladium/R City standards. Slightly on the pricier side but all in all, good food, good drinks, good place in this part of the city.

Good Place for Catching Up with Friends

TGIF is always an excellent place to chill out with friends and family alike ... nice ambience, smiling staff, great service and well good to average food. The décor is very American and standard everywhere in India and there is nice loud music to keep you pepped up. The staff is always eager to help and service is fairly good even on weekends.
The drinks selection is very good though they put too much ice in the LIIT. Happy hours, during weekdays, is till 10:30 pm and offers good VFM. Would recommend spicy chicken wings for sure in the starters – we finished a few plates alongwith our drinks while the vegetarian folks did with average Nachos. The potato Wedges and Loaded Skins is also nice. This time around we tried the ‘quite expensive

Horrible Experience

I've been here 3 years back and i dont know if things have really changed much here. But this was one of those places that i regretted visiting! The food here was nothing to write about and very expensive. The vegetarians in my group hardly had a lot of good choices. And being a non vegetarian, i dont recall the food being too appealing to me too. The bill came to whopping 350/- per head for a group of 10 people who absolutely didnt like the food. And on top of it, the next day, i got really bad food poisoning with red rashes all over my body. So yes, absolutely regrettable experience.
I hope the restaurant quality is much better now than it was 3 years ago. Though i doubt, any of us would want to visit it again!

Great Place!!!

Been a favorite of ours since our dating days, we have had several dates & long conversations here. We have always been fan's of the place & love their selection of drinks & appetizers. The place like other TGIF's are not good for a proper meal but have a great selection of bar nibbles. Avail of their happy hours (buy one get one free) & their slashed rates for imported whisky's! In food try their they Vegetarian starter platter, their Nachos & BBQ Chicken Wings. They also do some good salads; try their Chicken Cesar's salad which is great! Their portions are very generous (they even serve their cocktails in huge glasses!!!) The service has always been prompt & efficient no matter how busy they are & are extremely pro active & non interfering; great for couples. Try to sit either at the bar counter or the tables near the bar counter they are and always have been my favorite. I have deducted one point because during my last visit; we found hair in our food (though the manager apologized profusely & very effectively handled the situation, this is something that is a definite no-no). However overall its a great place!!! Do try it!!!

Nice place to catch a drink after work

I know what you all must be thinking, it's expensive to catch a drink or two, but thankfully they have happy hours till 8:30pm and if you happen to miss that, they have it again at 10:30pm!
Since I went there with a few friends mainly to have a couple of drinks, we didn't really order any main course. We just ordered 3 appetizers which were pretty decent. There was one potato dish that was particularly tasty, but unfortunately I can't remember the name.
The music was mostly commercial house when we were there (Friday evening), but not too loud that you can't have a conversation. The service was pretty decent and overall we had a nice experience.

Revisit, changed my mind.

I have reviewed this earlier when it had opened, however the past year have had occasion to visit it more often.

Lunch - totally value for money, you get to choose from options and there are quite a lot. Add a beer for 70 bucks and your Saturday is all sorted.

Dinner - Again there is a value proposition, 100 bucks more than Lunch. Besides this there is a late happy hour and other offers that actually are great but make you dizzy :)

The steak is superb. And get Anthony to make you the Basa special.

All in all a complete turn around over the past and the crowd seems to really like it.

Overpriced without quality!

One of the worst places to spend time & money! The drinks in the so called happy hours makes you sad because 1. U don't feel you having a cocktail but a glass of ice! 2. Even in happy hours the drinks are too pricey & the quantity is minuscule! 3. Lays wafer with a few pieces of cheese, onion & tomato costs 250!

Strong dollar, weak rupee

This 'yankee' restaurant has its own cowboyish charm. The portions are always super sized, things are always deep friend and the side dishes are always over the top. Very tasty food, whatever you try. But it still seems expensive when you compare it to similar places. we ended up paying 2,500 for a meal for two, without alcohol ! Felt a bit over priced. It probably good for special 'informal' occasions but for a simple meal, the food court outside is much better.

Saturday Night....

My last visit to TGI Friday was back in 2002-03 in B'lore and it was a cool place then...after 10 yrs still it has got the same aroma. The ambience is good and the best part, the rock and roll music which they play brings a differece to regular pubs, restaurants n lounges....All in all a good place to hang-out with friends if you want a break from regular clubbing.

Been here on a Sunday evening - 6. The Bar looked so inviting that could not help but enter here even though we were not really hungry. Had the Fridays Chicken Burger & the Chicken Fingers with the Cheddar Cheese Dip. 1 Strawberry Lemonade & got a November Sunrise (free becz of the Happy Hours). All of this was extremely sumptous & tasty...The presentation was nice of the food. Full marks to the ambience, attentive service. Lovely music. Had a blast

Pathetic Service, Lousy Food

The food used to be great here but on the last 2 visits it has been lousy, all 3 dishes ordered.

3 dishes served without cutlery, received only 5 mins after reminding waiter. Plates not cleared even at the time of paying the bill. Guess as they already charge 12.5% as service charge they aren't bothered about any kind of service.

Will not visit again - Red Box and Ruby Tuesday are better options.

I just had my grand father's feet

Ok to start off with, we went here as it was my friend's birthday and thought we would have a good time. Well good time we did have but it was with horrible food.
I must say that the staff is pretty good and they did a jolly good job singing for my friend but being a chicken fan and ordering 5 chicken dishes, I found only one to be satisfactory(The Spicy Chicken Nachos. The Nachos are the only good thing they do have even in Veg).
It was very very over-priced for the quality of food. The menu called the tex-mex section the best in mumbai, So I was like why not ? lets order Chicken Chimichanga(Which had this amazing mouth watering description below it) and well I ended up eating the most bland, the most distasteful and the worst dish I ever had. period. It was needed like having my grandfather's feet.
Even the other main courses my friends ordered, veg or non-veg turned out to be impeccably bad. I mean seriously, I am paying 500 bucks per dish and it turns out to be soo bloody bad!!
To say the truth the ambience is good but the food was just so bad that I had to give it such an awful rating.
Don't go here unless you maybe are really rich and want to only get drunk with maybe a starter or two. Order the Nachos and for god sake don't even touch the rest of the dishes. They are disgusting.

I FEEL CHEATED - lunch offer

I was at TGI fridays for the luch offer. One Soup or Salad and one Main Dish e.g. Pasta non veg at Rs 199. Incl. Soft drink.

The soup (tea cup) and the pasta was not even the half of a regular portion.
Plus, the overall charges have been Rs 248, as they charge 12.5% !! service charge for average service next to taxes.
I had spoken to the manager and he told me that small portions are normal for this offer.
That is ridiculous, as the advert says nothing about small portion or kids meal.

I will never come back as I feel cheated as your customer.
At the end they just sell the half portion at half price.
Makes no sense.

Thank God It's Friday!

Food
TGIF has the best steaks I've ever had in Mumbai. It's always done just the way you want it - they will never give you a medium if you wanted it rare. It's always perfect. From 5:30 to 8:30 pm, TGIF has happy hours - one drink free with every drink on domestic liquor - so it's the best time to catch up with friends. They also have a special happy hours menu which has amazing Southwest Potato Twister (try it with chicken...lip smacking!). Also try TGIF's blue cheese dip - it is the most divine cheese dip you would ever have had. I'm drooling just thinking of it!

For the main course, try their steaks if you eat beef. If not, they have a multitude of chicken, lamb and seafood dishes to choose from. Personally, I avoid anything with barbecue sauce coz it just gets too sweet. Items here cooked with balsamic vinegar also end up being a little too sweet. Instead, go for dishes with their signature Jack Daniel's glaze. If you're going for pork, they have two options - Indian or international pork. The international one is more expensive, but also much softer and with a better texture.

Menu Variety
There are more than enough items to make every body happy. Right from tacos to grills to salads to steak to desserts. Could have just done with a few more risotto dishes I guess.

Service
Service at TGIF varies depending on the crowd. I have personally not had any bad experiences here, but my parents and their friends had to once wait for ages for someone to take their order. In another case, my friend was there once when they took more than 30 minutes to get only the mocktails. When they complained, however, they got free mocktails and desserts! So complain, and you shall be taken care of!

Ambience
I love the ambience here! It's fun, for a good time with friends! The walls have a lot of fun posters (my favorite one says " Hippies use side door") and it basically says to you, "Drink, motherf***er, drink!"

Value for Money
It is expensive. I see a lot of kids coming her too. But when I was 20, I wouldn't be able to afford it. But as a working professional who spends more than half her salary on food and drinks, I won't think twice about coming here. It's one of my favorite places to hang out at!

Location
Bang in the middle of everything happening. At Lokhandwala. If there's no place, you can always shift to Red Box next door!

And in conclusion...
It's the perfect place to go to after watching an afternoon movie at Cinemax at Infinity Mall! Or after buying a few books from Landmark. Or whenever you feel like having steak. Or whenever you want to have a few beers and listen to good music. Or whenever!

But Why so expensive ?

So I ate the set Menu , Rs. 500 for 3 courses, which seemed fair.
But I would never ever a la carte at this place. It's American comfort food, made well. And its a nice place to go with some friends on a game night. But I would feel cheated if I paid their usual prices for food which is not innovative or unusual or particularly spectacular or very refined.

Thank god for TGIF !

I landed up at TGIF after ages and also because I was at Infinity Mall, was hungry for lunch and didn't wanted to go out for Lunch. If TGIF was not there, I would have ended at the Food Court of the mall itself.

But I am glad TGIF was there, as I had a great time there.

I don't remember the exact names of the dishes(all veg) we ordered, but everything we ordered was great and even the quantity was good.

With 2 main course, 2 entrees, one mocktail, one cocktail, one dessert, total tab was around 2500 bucks. Its expensive for sure, and same like Firaangi Paani in the vicinity, it has a high tax for Alcohol too(approx 35%).

They also have a 10% service charge on the bill, so no need to tip again.

The only thing bad was the waiters, who acted as they are wannabe Yankees and had a tint of arrogance in them. All my repeated requests to them for basic stuff like water, forks, spoons landed on deaf ears, but thankfully the manager was active and present there and he happily paid heed to all my requests and that too fast.

If the management is reading this, please overhaul your waiters, get a totally new set of people and this would be the perfect place to hang out.

Since rates are similar to Firaangi Paani(FP), I would prefer TGIF, as its a more casual place, whereas FP has a slight snob factor what with the filtering of crowd that takes place there thanks to the bouncers.

My First Visit - Intend go there more! :)

Well, I've lived in Bombay for the past five years and I went to T.G.I.F for the first time this past weekend (I was only too kicked to be seated inside)! The interiors are totally neat; you take at least a good five minutes to take in the sights and decor all around you. I was reminded instantly of this place abroad called Applebee's which follows a similar pattern of having posters of icons of previous generations, movie posters, bike engines, street signs and other such cool embellishments on the walls. I so wished I had my camera with me on that day! Anyway, after going through the menu, we found the prices quite exorbitant for us simple folks but still, it wasn't so bad. Because the stuff was SO worth it. We had the BBQ Chicken Salad (yummy!) and the Pepperoni Thin Crust Pizza (they had Pork Pepperoni not chicken, but honestly I didn't find the difference and quite enjoyed my slices)! We had a side-order of fries too to keep us going. For 2 dishes and 3 people, we were pretty stuffed already but very happily stuffed, I must say. :) I think it'd be more fun to go there with friends. It really is true, you do feel like it magically is Friday every time you're inside the place! (I felt that also because of the music they were playing...country, altern-rock)..

Excellent Food, Ambience & Service

I rate this place better than Ruby Tuesday's simply because of the service standards maintained. The ambiance, decor & people are simply top rated. The place is quite spacious & the sofas are really comfortable. We ordered Nachos, Mozzarella Fries & Sirloin steak. All of the dishes were well made especially the steak. Best part was the steak arrived sooner than expected. The staff has to be applauded. Each dish is quite sufficient for 2. The dishes may seem a bit overpriced but considering the package you get its fair. A happy experience in the end. Will definitely recommend this to all - at least once.

The best culinary experience I've had in a while!

Ive been in Mumbai for about 8 months now...and have eaten in many a restaurant with a big name and reputation. But none have lived up to their billing. That's particularly valid for these non-Indian cuisine joints, as we seem to include Paneer in everything whether or not it makes any sense.Honestly speaking, . But TGI is an exception. I visited this Mexican joint on my sister's birthday and was welcomed by a nice warm atmosphere. The restaurant has this American sort of theme, with all sorts of objects and memorabilia you'd connect with the US, including skate boards and baseball caps and bats and oh yeah, Marilyn Monroe posters. But looks can be deceiving and more often than not you get tricked by these classy looking joints.

Well we ordered Loaded Potatoes that were filled with Cheddar Cheese and served with butter. They were really delicious.
After that we had the famous Vegetarian Chimichanga that was a tad on the spicy side but on the whole scrumptious. It had a whole lot of veggies and a was dripping with cheese.
Then came the Sizzling cottage cheese fajitas. Now many a time in a typical Mumbai joint the "sizzlers" don't really sizzle but here was a real sizzler. I think it was the highlight of the meal. Paper-thin tortillas stuffed with grilled cottage cheese, mushrooms and onions it was really really good. Having satisfied ourselves completely we moved onto the Pasta which was creamy. cheesy and had cherry tomatoes. It was a dish kids would really enjoy, creamy and all, but really nice despite the excessive calories.
The service was fairly decent and the atmosphere was generally cheerful. The service was a tad on the slow side, but I guess that's the idea as the guys at TGI want you to come over, enjoy a good meal, spend time with friends and share a good friendly conversation, unlike other places like Pizza Hut, where your in and out within 25-30 minutes. The waiters were friendly and I particularly liked their uniform which again had all sorts of memorabilia on it.
The meal for four cost us Rs.2700 which I am glad to say was justified as the food was simply delicious. But the best part was that at the end after paying the bill, the gave us a gift coupon worth Rs.500 valid for our next meal. A really nice gesture in my opinion. We could not try the desserts as we were really full by then, but they looked heavenly. Chocolate mmmm chocolate yummy.
On the whole it was a really good experience, and I look forward to paying another visit soon.
So take my advice if you want to indulge in authentic Mexican cuisine then visit TGI!

Good, but expensive

If you would like to nurse a drink in the company of some good friends and do not mind spending a pretty penny, then TGIF is still the best watering hole in Andheri.
The best part of it is if you are bringing in your birthday here, the entire gang of stewards surround you and make you stand on your seat and sing along with them on a rock version of the Happy Birthday. Really nice.

Excellent food and service

I think TGIF should be reviewed from the perspective of the audience that it targets. Quite simply, TGIF is the kind of restaurant that folks who are familiar with international cuisine would enjoy. If nothing trumps Indian food in your book and you believe food is tasteless without masala, you probably won't enjoy the flavors of the West. This is obviously not a reflection on the restaurant, but the result of your own preferences.

Those who do enjoy global cuisines (or American and Mexican cuisine to be exact), will find the food wonderful. In fact, it is probably the only restaurant in Bombay that serves beef worth eating (in the continental style, of course). Other restaurants that offer beef steaks tend to have a peculiar "boiled" flavor in the meat. In Indian dishes, this is probably not so noticeable with the heavy flavors of the masala to mask it. TGIF staff will make note of how you want your steak done every single time you order one.

I would also note that I always receive fresh produce. The broccoli is greener than anything I've seen in the supermarket. It's REALLY fresh.

The staff is always extremely friendly and always smiling. They come to your table to ensure that your meal is satisfactory and can be called upon at any time since there's always someone walking past every few minutes. The time taken to be served varies according to what you've selected. Appetizers arrive quicker than main courses.

I did get the impression that they prefer patrons to be well-dressed judging by the way my attire was scrutinized the first time I walked toward their door. (The maitre d' wears a suit.) However, I've never had any "discussions" regarding my attire, despite arriving in jeans and sandals on practically every occasion. I can understand the preference for a smart casual dress code since they're soliciting that kind of clientele. On the other hand, it IS a mall, so I don't imagine they'd be able to stick to that dress code too rigidly. In any case, I have never had such a problem on any of my visits. (Just by way of comparison, I HAVE been told that "the restaurant is closed" at the Chinese restaurant in Atria Mall in Worli. I put it down to our jeans and sandals attire since other diners were seated and being served at the time. Thus, in this respect, I have to say TGIF is far friendlier and will be receiving far more business from me.)

I visit TGIF once a month. I would visit more often if their prices were lower. That said, they've suddenly started offering a Rs.500 discount on the next bill whenever I run up a bill of more than Rs.1,000. That happens quite easily with drinks and a meal and dessert.

I am quite happy with the ambience. I don't think the music needs to be louder or softer. It's fine as it is. I'm happy to be able to hear my friends sitting across the table without having to make them yell. The mood is relaxed yet upbeat.

Altogether, it is always a satisfying experience.

Needs re-pricing..(reduce it)

Hello

Yes ofcourse no doubt its a good place, great decor...

- It needs to reduce the pricing, because there are more than 5 restaurants in the walking distance, serving similar or better food
- Needs to upgrade its STAFF (attitude) to serve with a smile to every customer, "EVERY" means even if a couple walks in and would only like to have a small light meal, just before the movie (cinemax) starts... they should understand its location proximity to a cinema, which makes its easy for many couples to just walk in casually,,..trying to pass some time ...happily...because they are already spendnig a BOMB on the tickets :))

very american

I visited this place a couple of weeks ago with a friend of mine who came down from the USA. Since he's a vegetarian he never had the opportunity of having good veg Mexican food in the USA.

When we entered we were shocked to see the restaurant completely empty. But it could possibly be because of the timing- we went there for lunch on a weekday.

The restaurant sported a very American look.

What we ordered:
vegetarian Mexican stack
veg chimichanga
1 diet coke

Total Bill : 1300 for 2

Both the dishes were delicious. The chimichanga was served with Salad and sour cream( the sour cream didn't look too good, so i skipped it)
The food was VERY heavy and surprisingly we could not finish what we called for. Portions are huge.

Undeniably, an expensive restaurant - not ideal for college students
I'd go there again only because i haven't had better Mexican food elsewhere in Mumbai

dinner at TGIF

Hd been to TGIF last night. Food is good. I called for Double glazed chicken TGIF special. It came with mashed potatoes in cheese and baked corns. Glazing tasted yum . Reached just in time for happy hours so the drink was served "buy one get one free" basis. I was alone so just called in for a bacardi cranberry.
The ambience is very average, or I should rather say lots of other food joints of the same calibre have better ambience. I find ruby tuesday equally xpensive but better decor and pathetic food :P
Anyway, so this place is quite xpensive. got one glazed chicken for myself and one parceled+ one breezer which was enough to cause a hole in my pocket. There are better steak places in the city , much cheaper . A one time experience is good but wouldnt go there again, but if i am in a mood to spend quite a bit!

what all came in:
double glazed chicken served with potatoes n corn, 2 nos
happy hours(buy one get one) breezer
Damage: 1200+ tip

Very Good Cocktails

I have been to the place only once though I have been to the Kalaghoda branch a number of times. The cocktails are quite well made and the food is also quite good. On the flip side, the music can be better and maybe even louder. But in the final analysis, you certainly leave the place satisfactorily.
