AVERAGE

Snacks and all are fine, you have pizzas, pastas which are average not great in my opinion.music is good, they have a variety of cocktails to offer as well, you can play pool as well over here with your friends..in all a chill out place... but prices are a little on the higher side...when i went there-there was hardly any crowd which was sad! ambience is okay again, not great...Will i come back?--hopefully if they add new things on their menu

Great evening out

Went to Banana Bar last week with 4 friends and as always had a great time. The music was good, its value for money, crowd is good, not too overcrowded like other pubs around which we love, especially after work. What we like is the great food they serve, the curteous staff and the personelised service from the managers and owners. We love the owner and manager coming upto us, serving and giving personal attention. psyK99 im sorry to say but you do sound like one of the staff whos been sacked from Banana Bar.

Being patient at this comment as we respect and value our customers,,this is a misleading comment as dirty is an inappropriate word to use. The owner being present behind the bar,,giving a helping hand and following a passion for bar tending and good service is well appreciated around the whole world, if ever the owner serves some client, whats wrong with that, its strange to know that educated people see service as degrading. No need to worry about tips which you questioned about as they go where they should. We ensure cleanliness at all times, y

hahahahaha......n how is dirty n inappropriate word.....if a place is dirty it would be infested n thats what it is with banana bar.....or to be precise THE BANANA BAR.....yea n where does the tip go in your pocket....u may be standin there in the bar servin people....but if u have a staff to rely on then u wouldnt have to do that also.....it shows that its not world class service we talkin bout its the fact that the owner doesnt trust his staff r thinks highly of him which is INAPPROPRIATE.....infact it's none not the outsiders but the people

A very bad place with no crowd

This place on saturday night had no crowd at all... When we entered this place at 9:00 PM on a saturday night we had only three ables occupied. There was no crowd at all forget QUALITY CROWD. The music wich was being played as disgusting. After this first impression of the place, I preffered ordering a Mojito, and they made pathetic Mojito. The bartender is completely SAD, has no idea how th cocktails are made and also they charge a lot. A mojito costed me 350 bucks. After the sad mojito, i preffered a Vodka with Lemonade, to be safe and not giving the bartender an option to play with my drink. No good food, no good music and sad starters. This place charges an average of 300-400 for every drink but they do not have the right people to make it also. So I AM A NO to this place.

Had a Good Time !!!

This Place is good. Although space is less, but you can manage to get a table quite easily. It has a outside rooftop area as well which is mostly occupied by Smokers. Inside it has a lounge kinda feel with dim lights. Overall Ambiance is pretty good.

Lots of variety in food & drinks.Slightly overpriced but it wont make you drink less. Food was good. I am not a big fan of thin crust Pizza but here they made it better than most Pizza joints.

Damages for Four: 3900/- (incl tax) (Ours was more drinks and less food- We had three drinks each with 2 starters and 2 pizzas later)

Cockroach in my drink!

I have been a regular at Banana Bar for a few years now and really had no qualms about this place. average ambience, nice place to meet up with friends for some drinks before heading out for a more serious night out. But yesterday evening, something that could have been tackled easily in a better way just turned into an unpleasant and unnecessary episode. Yes I found a cockroach floating in my brandy + honey + warm water concoction, and when I realised this, I asked them to change it - which they did eventually. But a manager-type fellow came up to me stating "we have no idea how that happened, maybe it got in while you were mixing the honey with the brandy". The CHEEK of that man!!!! They should be thankful I did not create a scene and walk away without paying (which I should have done). To top it off, they tried to offer me a 25% discount at the restaurant UPSTAIRS. This type of cheap behaviour pissed me off. I did leave my comments and don't think I want to go back there ever again!

Lucky For Me as A Sports Fan

the first time i ever visited this place was way back in 2007 on the day when india played pakistan in the world 20-20 final and what a night it was. there food is good although didnt try a full meal till india played srilanka in 2011 world cup finals :)

food is surprisingly great at this place and the service is great too. i remember Vinod from the bar who is always smiling willing to help and chat. this place is located in the heart of the city and yet very few people know about it and thats the best part coz whenever u go there you will see loyal patrons. and every time i have been there to watch a match my team has won:)

2007 - India Beat Pakistan in 20-20 Finals
2010 - Spain wins World Cup(FIFA)
2011 - India Beat Pakistan in the World cup Quarters
2011 - india Beat Srilanka in the world cup Finals

A nice Banana Split!!!

Right on the linking road, this is a nice place where u can atleast get a place to sit and chat with peace with your frnz/col'gs. The place has two floor sitting area. The first level is more of a lounge kind of place and the second floor has a sports bar kind of feel with two pool tables ( no other place in this area has it!!!!) and two large screen showing sports channel. The food is good, specially the pizza (the best after pizzeria), garlic bread and chilly chicken. Beer is reasonably priced (a pint of beer is 125 bugs) but one may find hard alcohol priced a little higher. However they have some really good packages for parties (including food and alcohol). The staff is polite and had no problems with the service.

Doesn't make you go bananas

Nice ambience and decor but does not live up to expectations. The access to the place is from the side of Only Parathas. Climbing the narrow staircase gave me a seedy permit-room type feeling. Once I stepped inside, however, it felt like heaven. A large candle-lit lounge with comfortable couches for seating and huge plasma screen, it seemed like a perfect place to spend romantic time with someone special as well as to hang out with friends over beer.

One striking thing, though, was lack of music. It might have been either coz the place was empty on a Saturday evening - just one table in the open air section was occupied or coz the servers were busy watching a cricket match.

Ordered a round of white rums and stir fried veggies salad. Despite having an overpowering garlic flavor, the salad was good. The same, however, can not be said about the paneer which really hard. But I would suggest one has the mushroom starter - mushrooms were done just right flavored subtly with peppers and garlic. Gals tried out some regular cocktails which they said were okay.

They also have a pool lounge on the upper floor but separate entrance and bills mean that one cannot move between the places which is a let-downer and so is the lack of people. Thinking of going there when you are senti n want to drown yourself in booze at a quiet place.

Not so bad

Typically average Bandra bar, the usual mix of Bryan Adams and rubbish 80s, a cricket game on the television, overpriced alcohol. Atleast the waiters are friendly and a semi-decent outside section. Take advantage of hte happy hours and their mince mutton burger, which isnt half bad

Ho-hum...

Interesting to see how many burrpers actually like this place. It's not a terrible place by any means, but it's your average, somewhat dingy, shady 2-star hotel bar. The pub is connected to two other establishments in the same hotel: Tangy Tamarind and Only Parathas. The pub is up the dirty staircase on the first floor. Upon entering, you actually have high expectations. A proper bar area, with bar stools and all, decently done up interiors, nice loungy seats, and a terrace seating area for those that want to take in the "fresh" air (about as fresh as a baby's diapers).

The first thing that hits you about this place in a not-so-nice way are the damn prices - they're charging close to 5-star hotel prices for a pint of Kingfisher, which was abominable given the state of this hotel. Secondly, the service is lethargic and uninterested - I've met mono patients high on weed with more energy than these guys. They mumble answers when asked questions, they turn the other way when you try to make eye contact to get something else to your table, and are generally not the service-oriented type.

Having that said, this place has potential. Clean up the joint a bit, replace the service staff with polite, energetic youngsters, and normalize the prices to reflect the environment a bit more accurately, and this place could become a great watering hole.

I give 2.5 stars for an overall experience. I won't go back here until I hear from other burrpers that the service has markedly improved, and/or they have some good happy hour rates on Kingfisher beer and not some other crap that people won't drink anyways.

a superb place to chill

Walked into banana bar on tuesday night, had an offer running buy a beer get 1 free.. wow! its now in two floors, on the 1st its divided into 3 sections, one can hang around the bar area, sit in the lounge watcin some matches or chill in the outdoor patio area. the musics great, started with nice soft rock, went into commercial and great retro.

The 2nd floor is the pool lounge, a great ambiance, musics at just the right level and a great place to unwind after work, cant think of anywhere one can shoot some pool and down some ddrinks..

The alcohol is well priced, with great schemes through the week, 1 on 1 beers, hard liquor, cocktails etc.. musics nice and to add to it, the foods great... the best pizzas we've had in a long long long time..

All in all had a superb time and will definately be going there soon again

Grrrr...

Friday nights usually call for catching up with office buddies and chilling out over beers and peanuts. So, after a little bit of back and forth 6 of us picked Banana Bar because a) It had good reviews on burrp by trusted burrpers, b) It is centrally located, c) It was exactly on our way home and did not require any detours.

The entrance was a little disappointing as the 2/3 (?) star hotel it is located inside doesn't seem to be spending much on upkeep. A dingy staircase leads you to this first floor bar. The ambiance once you get inside is fairly decent. There is bar seating inside and comfortable cane sofa chair seating both inside and outside. We picked an outdoor table and were handed menus of Banana Bar and Tangy Tamarind almost immediately.

First Shock: Pint of Beer - 120 bucks
Second Shock: No Happy Hour applicable on beers (We reached at 6:45)
Third Shock: 6 people must share a puny bowl of beer snacks

The waiter was either ignorant or did not get the sarcasm when I asked him if we should all be sharing from one bowl.

The lack of beer snacks led us to order some mushrooms and paneer starters that were not bad but cost about 200 bucks each.

We spent 2243 bucks in 45 minutes on 12 Beers and 2 starters. I am sure they could even afford to give us EACH a couple of bowls of chakli or whatever the hell that cheap thing was - (not that we wanted that much :D ). Now, I am not a cheap freeloader, but if you're a beer drinker you'll know why I'm so worked up about this.

The service was efficient but indifferent.

This place is not necessarily bad, but our experience was. If I have the choice of going to places with a better ambiance, cheaper beer and better service, I'd be stupid to go back to Banana Bar.

Banana goes re-public with Pool lounge

How about a vodka-Malibu-Peach Schnapps mixed with cranberry juice cocktail to go for the evening? It's called Absolut Stress and after a day's grind at your workstation, the sound of this heady mix could be better than a roll in the hay. We thought so too when we dropped in at Banana Pool Lounge before the clock struck ten and the one-plus-one free offer expired. For more details

Place to Lounge around

A place to lounge around till the music starts getting louder & the crowd younger after 9. There is a happy hour for Indian Drinks & the margarita's are pretty decent also. Limited but excellent starters! All in all a good place to spend a couple of hours straight from office

Friday's are Salsa nights ;)

Alright, So me and my friend were searching for a place to chillout. Have been to Toto's too many times, went to Temptation to check out that place which was pretty empty at 8:30 pm (As expected). So we headed out to Banana Bar.

About the Place:

We paid 300 per head as cover charge. On Friday Banana Bar hosts Salsa nights from 9:30-11:30 pm. We were there at 9 pm.

The Music:
The Dj was playing some nice soft rock while I gulped down on some Vodka and my friend on some Beer.
Later at 9:30pm he started pumping out some nice Salsa tunes, believe me i don't do Salsa but the beats surely got me dancing, albeit by myself only lol. After 11:30 he dished out some house/hip hop tunes which for some reason went exactly in the same order as it did in Hawaiian Shack on Wednesday when i was there!!! Nothing special really when it came to hip hop/house, the same old, the same old choons you'd hear everywhere else.

The Crowd:
Most of the people who had come there were regulars and most knew Salsa too. For the first time i saw a gathering of Salsa dancers, pretty nice sight i must say. People had gathered just for the 2 hours of salsa. Some of them (Well most of them) were like pro's who must have been coming here every since this place opened!!
The crowd was pretty hip, some very pretty women and cool dudes. What startled me was how quickly the place was deserted when the music shifted genres. But ah well, i guess it was expected.

The ambiance:
A very chilled out place, had two big screens (the challenger trophy was being telecast). Very spacious, to allow for maximum number of people to dance their hearts out, a good thing i must say. The place is divided into two sections : one inside where the actual dancing happens, and another outside overlooking the Linking Road where you could sit and relax and catch up with your folks.
The place wasn't very dark, a good thing, good lightning and good service too.

The Cost:
Well a Vodka cost me Rs.150.
A Beer cost my friend: Rs.120

Everything 'food' there was around 180 and above so we didnt bother eating anything there (Except for the chaklis that was served with the booze).

Other nights:

On thursday's they got Karaoke nights and from Monday-Wednesday, they got retro nights (rock/hip hop) etc.

Overall, we got bored there cause none of us knew Salsa, and seeing other people enjoy so much made me jealous! It was only when the deejay started dishing out house was when it felt nice. But really, if your a Salsa lover, you gotta make this your regular Friday hang-out.

Definitely worth checking out atleast once.
