Fun Brunch

had been there on a very lazy rainy sunday and it turned out to be the ideal place to lift my mood.. Good positive energy around, karoke was there, you could play games on your tables and the best part is this carnival went on till 5 pm..

food is good, nothing to write home though.. and yes a place like this really covers up for average food with all the energy and fun going around..

Ideal place for a group of friends who wanna catch up over the weekend..

Recommend this place

Firstly, The Little Door has a really nice ambience. This place has good crowd, good food and nice music. The drinks were pretty good. It's slightly overpriced but worth visiting at least once. Also, the staff is very humble and polite making the overall experience very good.

Good place

First off - the venue impresses - small, quaint, cosy and inviting. A good place to chill out. But the food menu is strictly limited and you do not have many options to choose from. This place is more for drinks & sides so foodies - not the best place to be at. The drinks were okay with the long island iced tea missing that perfect balance that forced me to switch to plain, simple & safe - beer. All in all, not a bad place to go to if you arent too picky about food options.

Enjoyed at The Little Door.

The place has a good buzz. One immediately feels welcomed into this cozy little place tucked into a quiet corner of Andheri. The music and outdoor seating with apt decor makes it worthwhile. The staff is friendly and prompt.
The food though not the best I have had, makes for a good variety and proportions. We liked the Tequila Chicken, Greek styled nachos and the made to order pizza. The Jack Daniel chocolate mousse was nice too.
The price is slight higher for drinks, but the ambience is worth it.

great door

There are great food options to choose from with my favorite being their XL Burgers and their epic Drunkesserts. Their bar menu is quite extensive with some really unique drinks especially Coco's Nut served in a very innovative manner. The music scene is brilliant and its great to see how they encourage upcoming talent to perform at the venue. The Drunch (drunken brunch) should not be missed. One of the most pocket friendly places in the city

Wat a Horrible Experience we had!!

I had heard so much about this place. So though to check it out with my pals... but i had the most horrifying experience. We went there last night (27/4/14) and were 4 of us. We ordered 2 very simple dishes to start off... Greek Nachos and Firecracker along with a vodka redbull and Coronation. So this is how the horrifying half hr went - Nachos & firecracker arrived well before our drinks and they were almost over (almost coz they were soo bad). Our local thela wale ka bhajiyas were better than the firecracker and the Greek nachos dint have any salt and tasted so bland. They had already gone soggy the moment they arrived. The waiter got the vodka... peg already made with sprite and forgot the redbull altogether. We sent it back saying we had ordered vodka redbull. After another 10 mins he got something else altogether (the glass was half filled - and by any standards - a small 30 ml peg cannot fill half the glass). This pissed us and we had to literally go to the bar and get the peg made - I mean how difficult it is to pour 30 mil of vodka into a glass and serve. Oh, did it mention that even after WE made the peg, they didn't give a stirrer? Anyways, moving on, we had yet to finish our bland nachos and it was already about half an hr and my coronation had not yet arrived - in spite of reminding the waiter 4 times. Finally, we decided to go to some place else and asked to cancel the order. He said its about ready and he'll get it. I went to the bar (again) to tell him about our experience and that we want to cancel the order.... and to my surprise they hadn't event started to make the drink. It was 35-40 mins already!! So we canceled the ordered and asked for the bill. The bill came.... we TRIED to pay by card. We went to enter the pin, after 3 failed attempts the cashier realized that he had not connected the wire to the machine!! While my friend was busy paying for the bad experience and food, the most disgusting thing happened at our table. The waiter was taking away the left overs (coz we just couldnt finish them) and while taking the places, spilled salsa sauze all over my wife's top and broke the plates. I FINALLY LOST IT as the ****** didn't even say SORRY and just walked away into the kitchen and searched for the cleaner to clean the floor. Neither did he come back to offer tissues (by the way, the tissues were also over on our table). That is when I finally decided to go and highlight the same to the management (as i had heard many wonderful things about this place). They obviously didnt have any complain book (nor a feedback book) and offered to hear us. All he said was I am apologizing on the waiter's behalf. That's it? Really!! I guess all the good reviews have gone to their head !! They seriously need to take a stock of the things!! If you do plan to chk out the place, go at your own risk!!

Awful!

Me and my friends had been to this place on a Saturday night after reading the reviews.
At the entrance was our 1st shock..the guy asked us to pay Rs.20/- per head for liquor license. .Though it was a minimal amount.this was unheard of,as no other place had ever charged us for liquor license or anything.
Then we entered the place which was almost empty.
But The waiter informed me that the AC area is reserved and so are the other tables (almost 6-8 tables were unoccupied).
When we insisted for a table..the waiter said he'll check but never came back.
We spoke to another waiter who said that he can give us a table but would make us move or leave when the people who have booked would walk in..
This was very unprofessional and rude.We had no option but to opt for another place.
Though we didn't get a chance to try anything @ this place..but after such a sad treatment...we might never visit this place again.

Little door with Big surprise !

We visited this place on a sunday evening by around 8 ish and were glad to get a table of our choice but within minutes the whole place was kind of fully crowded yet not having people cramping into one another.
They have a smokers zone in the open air area and the non smokers on the inside .
The whole ambiance is very well lit inspite of having minimal lighting.
Our Stewart Madhoo gave in great contributions in ordering drinks n food.
We started with the watermelon basil drink and some vodka drink with cilantro.
Both were exceptionally good to go with it we ordered the pataya's a great twist of having french fries and potato wedges together.
I ordered the chicken main course with spinach n cheese filling served with risotto n some fresh veggies, though the chicken could have been a lot more tender never the less the risotto compensated well.
We ordered some greek nachos n rose wine to go with it which again was scrumptious.
The only downside was the desserts which weren't available .
Surely a great place to hang out with friends and thumbsup to the staff as well the manager who took personal interest in serving the dishes.

I had been to the little door last week for dinner..i had heard a lot about in through my friends. The ambiance is very relaxed and laid back . the food service is good and the price are reasonable as well. I really liked the Paella Marina it was right in every sense. I had a good time at the little door specially because i made table reservations through urbanrestro and got complimentary free shots

This place is a personal favorite

This place is a personal favorite. Been here with a friend for a little chat. Starting from the Blue door at the entrance to the ambiance, you have got a fan in me ! Loved the patatas, while the Chicken burger was ok. The service can be a lil slow, depending on the night you visit & the crowd there. The options in pizza toppings were crazy. Music was decent. All in all worth the visit. My recommendation, check this place out if you are nearby. Better than some of the options available.

Impressed....maybe...

The pub has a nice crowd....a great selection of liquor...
However...the food is altogether a different story...its simply not worth eating at all. The choices are as limited as they can get. But that would be expected of a pub/bar.
Oh...and if you are looking for a QUIET romantic place..this is definitely where you shouldn't be..

This place rocks! Absolutely love the ambience and location of this place. The food is really good esp. Patatas which is nothing but french fries, potato wedges with mayo, ketchup etc.
Loved the setup. Tall chairs, short dining talbes and space at the bar to stand.
The music is really good. They have acuostic tuesdays when a band called Inside Out comes and plays. A decent band!
I have given 4.5 to very few places but this one deserves it bigtime.

This one is a rather interesting experience. It's a small place in the middle of the 'celeb' hub of Mumbai and it's a small bungalow which has been converted into a restaurant which is crazily full irrespective of the day of the week; Thursday's being the most busiest because they have a live band performance happening.

The service is a bit slow, but then it's a given with the amount of crowd this place has. The inside section is a bit small, air-conditioned, but gets a bit tight to sit in if you want to. The outside section is nice, but is smoking so sit at your own risk.

Great outside sitting

Loved the outside sitting area........crowd was good in that area. The inside area was very crowed hence couldn't even step in. But great commercial music on a friday nite enjoyed it. Since there was no compulsion of having equal amount of girls and guys or entry charge we had more fun. We were more guys and lesser girls. Alcohol was priced well enough for our pockets too.

Niiiice!

Heard about the place from a friend who lives closeby and decided to travel to andheri on a Sunday afternoon to beat the traffic blues. A worthwhile experience, as it was an afternoon not only of good food, but also some good music and activities. Apart from a lavish buffet of salads, appetizers, main courses, desserts and a beer/juice, we sang to some karaoke and enjoyed playing taboo and Jenga at this place, full of youngsters! Food wise, some of the salads, desserts could be stored under refrigeration so they remain cool during the afternoon!

Rocked !!!

One of those days when every thing kind of falls into place. Decided to visit this place after reading about it on burrp. We reached there by around 8. It was quite at that time, with a few tables taken and music playing. We decided to wind up by 10.. and lo the music got louder, the crowd got better. Fortunately, a couple of friends called saying they will join us. So we decided to stay a bit longer. And it was all worth it. Good music, great crowd. Specially liked their upturned beer (Can't remember the name). Loved the poutine. And yes free shots were doing the rounds :D

The Little door makes me happy!

The Little Blue door makes me happy! The drinks are not exorbitantly priced and it’s a happy place. Though the last time we went there were mosquitoes hovering around our heads (this is inside and not outside) which was annoying. I suggest you go a little early to grab a table especially on a weekday. The decibels of the music keeps increasing with time so if you want to sit and chat this is not the place – especially inside. I went with a Veggie friend and obliged to going pure veg with him for the evening - The Nachos were soggy and not at all appetizing. But we ordered a Cottage cheese main dish – I forget the name – it was the best veg dish I have eaten!! Super Yum, the flavours are still in my mouth!! Totally compensated for the nachos. Next time I go, I am going to try their Beer Challenge ?

Behind the Little Door await good times...

Yes, They literally have a little door at the entrance. And the ambiance that awaits you behind that door is quite charming. Was here with friends on a Friday night. And I was quite impressed with the way the place is set up. They have a pretty good space outdoors where smoking is allowed. But the more important thing is you can actually have a conversation if you get a seat outside. The indoors are low on space but good if your idea of having fun is getting your dose of lounge music.

Both the food and drinks menu are impressive. They have a good variety of cocktails and the food menu looks innovative with the list of dishes it has on offer.

We had Rioja Royal Tinto red wine which was a pleasant surprise. It was fruity with complex spicy tones. The Hill and Dale Pinotage was just average. A bit heavy on tanins but still drinkable. Their Red wine Sangria is not the best Sangria brewed in Bombay but it's still good. Monkey Balls (Absinthe, Gin, Grenadine, Malta Orange) was a clear winner. The taste of Absinthe was prominent till the last sip. Snap (Vodka, Bourbon, Peach Schnapps, Gauva, Orange, Rosemary) was good too.

The food was good with a few highs and lows. Tequila Chicken lacked tenderness and so turned out to be a disappointment. Torte De Congrejo (Crab meat served in crab shell with dominant flavours of cheese and white wine) was a delight. Champagne Risotto was another winner with perfectly balanced flavours. Basa was all right. Though the fish was a bit overdone, the taste of burnt garlic combined with white wine saved it from being a total let down.

There werent many choices for desserts. Being a chocoholic, I chose to try out Jack Daniel's Chocolate Mousse but found it too sweet for my taste. If you like your chocolate atleast a little bit on the darker side, you are better off without having tried this one.

So overall a good place to hang out with friends over drinks.

My Weekend Joint

So if your looking for a place which serves good food, plays good music, has good crowd and good ambience on a weekend then this is the place to be. And the best part, for a place that gives you all of these it is very decently priced. If you need a table on a weekend then you better be there before 9pm as later the crowd just keeps pouring in. The one dish you should not miss out is the sizzling prawns cooked in butter & olive, its YUMMMM and the yea the Beef steak..So yea if you are in Andheri west and looking for a place to party then head to The Little Door.
I was really excited to know that the burrp club card is valid here and we got a really cool discount for 1500 which included unlimited alcohol and food

Awesome place with super ambiance. The music makes you go crazy and tap your feet on a Saturday night. surprisingly, for a place like this, the rates are way within the budget. food they serve is average i would say but in all the experience with a few friends, good crowd, super music and very friendly staff made my evening. A must go if you are in juhu area without fail.

Sunday Disappointment!

I had celebrated my birthday here and was pleasantly happy with the place and the food served. But I saw a different side of the management and place when we went for the Drunken Brunch on Sunday. There were flies and other insects hovering over the food kept on a buffet. When pointed out the servers just smiled and left. Appalled and disgusted we left.

One piece of advice don't bother ruining your Sunday here! Other days a la carte is the best option.

The Little Door to Great Food

I was here for a birthday treat, and boy was it good! At The Little Door, not just the door, but even the place is not quite large. So if you plan to get a table on weekends, you may need to know the manager or plan a real early dinner. As the clock ticks, the crowd starts pouring in and so does the alcohol. Not best for a romantic date, unless it is an odd hour. I ordered crab cakes. The quantity was real small but extremely delicious. I ordered for main course a chicken roulade, which somehow I dont see on the menu riet now, but it was as delicious. usually main course doesnt live up to the starters for me, but here I enjoyed both thoroughly. All in all, not too heavy on the pocket & a treat for the palate. A must visit!

Proper place to have a chilled out evening

Visited here only once so far, but have been highly impressed with this place firstly the chilled out ambiance is what makes you feel at ease, then the choice of beers offered is worth trying.
Although the music was too loud at at times irritating once the crowd poured in that wasn't a issue, music was smooth and groovy. Will really like to see more comfortable seating as high stool seating at times is a pain although it may vary from person to person.
Food was yummy tried the bruschetta and chicken started forgot what the later was but were awesome worth trying with no regrets.
Will surely go again .

Big Surprise Inside The Little Door

This place actually has a little door, which is quite different from other restaurents. From outside, this looks a little place, but as soon as you enter, its quite a big place. The layout is very nice, mix of restaurant, pub, disc etc..The music is very nice and so is the food. They have some really good pastas and Risso with a twist and so are their cocktails.

We had our college reunion here and all of us had a blast. They don't have a place for group sitting and gave us 3-4 tables, but then we squeezed ourselves in 3 tables and was fun to walk down the memory lane of college days.

saved by the interior designer and beer

Its cosy, beautiful, great ambience, really great design...the lighting could have been a little less, but great outdoor and great indoor. The head waiter or the manager or the owner looks like he was walking around in a mall in Tanjavur and suddenly got in here. I mean in a garish orange t-shirt and trousers he seemed so out of place there. but thats ok...that can be fixed.

The chicken stuffed with spinach that I ordered was so full of salt. Even after three days I am upset with the taste. It's not extra salt, it's like wrong salt..even the side of mashed potatoes was so salty. I ate it three four times just to make sure I was not imagining it. Then while I had half finished the food I told the orange joker that the food was too salty..he made no attempt to ask me and understand...idiot!. When the bill came I told them again and they just nodded. But I will go there again next time, have a couple of drinks and walk out. My co-diner had better luck though. Ok food, just my bad luck.

Very chilled out place

For starters, if there is a place to hang out and eat/drink/smoke in andheri that has to be little door. Normally restaurants/joints/cafe's have a few tables aside for the smokers and I often feel they are given stepmotherly treatment...not intentionally though. But not at little door! there is an outside courtyard where you can chill out and smoke and there is a cozy interior space as well. service is done with equal attention both interior and exterior. My first impression from outside was, it looks like a moroccon place...which is good i thought. and I was not disappointed after chilling out there for 2 hours. the music isn't too loud so that you cant have a conversation but I heard sat nights are really happening. And apparently sunday brunches with board games are an awesome affair. so planning to go there on a sunday. plus it isn't too expensive. I can totally make it my adda :D Cheers!

Share:

Awesome Ambience !!

Place is a little crowded and to be more percise its a tiny place and the owners dont help the cause by letting people in till there is no place to stand. At one point the place resembled a local coach which was reasonably filled up. Such is the rush that the bills are jotted down by individuals and not by tables as the number of people standing would be 4 times those sitting...may be even more !! But Nachos, Pizzas and Cocktails are one of the best in Mumbai and you just cant miss that !! They play nice music and show football matches !! Overall a great place to hangout and chill but definitely not if you want a nice date on weekend.

Good place for Sunday brunch

We came to this place last Sunday on 3rd Feb. We were a group of 4.
The ambiance of the place was comfortable and easy with light music playing in the background, perfect for a lazy afternoon. However, the ac was not cooling enough and we started feeling quite suffocated after a while.
The spread was great. The antipasti salad spread had a lot of variety in both veg and non-veg section. The selection of appetizers, entree and mains from the menu was quite nice. Must try are Nutty pancakes and Confused Donuts. The pizza slices are quite yummy and the portion size is good enough for big guys.
The dessert spread could be better. I had my eyes on the The Red Velvet Cake but when it was my turn for dessert, the cake was over. :-(
But I'm surely going to try it next time.
Also, red wine they served was quite hot. I know red wine is served at room temperature but the mercury is soaring quite high and wine needs to be cooled a little.
Overall, we had awesome sunday afternoon there, spent chatting and singing with friends.

Great place but bad and deafening music..!

Intro - The place was in my mind from a long time. After reading the reviews here, I was sure I had to visit soon. So I adamantly stuck to this place for my birthday dinner.
Ambiance: A beautiful blue door at the entrance, soft light and the place bustling with laughter and energy. Absolutely love it!
Food - Absolutely loved it!
Music - We booked a table in the a/c section (They offer a choice of being seated inside or in the open air). Bad choice! Music was deafening and some selections were bad. We loved the place but ended our time there only and only because of the super loud music.

A special mention to the guy who served us. If i am not mistaken his name was sumeet. We had gone on a sat, the place was over crowded with people and I could see only this one guy running around. He was all over the place within seconds, handling orders with a smile. He was efficient and inspite of the place being jam packed he made him self available and patiently took down orders. Really appreciate an efficient employee.

Over all food, service and ambiance won our hearts! We can overlook the music for this time. Will go back again to try buffets and if at all in the evening, we will prefer sitting away from the glaring music in the open air section.

Well..ummmm...hmmmm...maybe

Aah Little Door..What do I make of you?
You surprise me once and you disappoint me sometimes!

The Little door is one of my favorite 'Grab-a-drink' places I often visit with a couple of friends after a hard day's work. It's right next to my office, which makes it the No.1 Contender to grab a quick drink at times.

It looks like an oasis in the middle of a dry dusky desert. It's located bang in the middle of Andheri's commercial center and I guess that's what makes it a favorite haunt for office-goers. The place has two sections, the AC and outdoor section. With an ambiance that makes you feel like you're on a Greek Island, it surely is pretty cozy.

Well..now coming to the main part..How good is the food there?
The first time I visited this place with friends, we ordered for sausages with a prefix I cannot recollect and were pretty Mediterranean and true to their origin. I ordered for an Old Monk (Which is the most paisa vasool bargain at this place...They give you free mixers with the alcoholic beverages you order). For main-course I ordered for a beef steak cooked in wine and seasoned with peppers..well made again. TLD is well priced and pretty pocket friendly, especially the beverages. I left the place with an intention of visiting it often whenever I feel the urge to catch up with my pals.

The next time I had a fleeting visit with another friend and I wouldn't elaborate this experience since it was pretty short. But all in all...decent service..decent music and a happy me!

Now..here comes the reason why I rated it '3'!!!
A couple of school friends and I planned to catch up over a couple of drinks. I jumped and suggested we meet up at TLD (By now, you know why). My friends were running a bit late and I landed up at TLD at 7.40pm. Unfortunately, it was the 14th of Feb...VALENTINES DAY!
There apparently weren't any seats available in the AC section and so I had to settle for sitting outside. I was cool with it until a lingering awkward fragrance kept bothering me. I peeped below my table and there was a mosquito coil that was tickling my nostrils. They sure intended to keep it to ward of the mosquitoes, But I seemed to be repelled more than the mosquitoes. There were a gazillion mosquitoes swarming the place. When I looked back there was another mosquito repellant hooked on. Gosh! This place smelled awkward. I managed to put off the one below my table but let the one behind me be on, because I didn't want to play romantic with the mosquitoes.

Giving in to boredom, I decided to order my usual Rum and Coke with Tequila Chicken. The tequila chicken was an interesting spotting on the menu, but guys, where was the tequila? Did you make the chicken drink the tequila before chopping it off? The flavor of tequila was negligible or probably wasn't even there. I gulped them out simply making up my mind that it was just chicken tikkas. Finally enter my friends. After the usual round of hugs and wishes, we sit down and decided to order Spanish Chicken Wings. Kablam!!!! There went all my respect for the place. The Spanish Chicken Wings came served cold, they seemed merely sauteed in lots of tomato puree and was RAW!!! It was one of the most pathetic things I've ever eaten at a restaurant. I have no idea what went wrong or if the cook was having a bad day or whether the chicken was a tough one. We left the chicken with most of the flesh onto it asked for the bill and pushed off to the Howrah Bridge Club for dinner of which I've written a review on Zomato too.

A good place turned bad or what? Just be careful with what you serve fellas at least be careful about the bare basics, Hot food..Well Cooked at least if not well flavored.

However, I'd really avoid visiting TLD for food anymore.

Long live food!

Superb place for a great saturday night! or even if you just want to sit around and chill with your friends! me and my friends love it! mainly for the affordability of alcohol and the great music! Also the staff is friendly and the food is quite delicious. We ordered for some cheesy rolls which were excellent, sorry was too drunk to remember the name! We will definitely keep visiting! Glad to have found out a great place for our weekends! Want to try the brunch next time! Keep it guys! And please don't ever play Bollywood music on saturday nights like some places have started too!

Excellent weekend place

Have been there a few times on different days. Everyday has a fresh vibe. But what I like about this place the most is the weekends. The fridays and saturdays are crazily crowded. Its awesome that a party place like this exists in Andheri. Haven't tried much in food but whatever I tried was brilliantly delicious. I am addicted to this guava flavoured cocktail called snap.

Dont go here plz!

I have been to this place thrice.food is ok but the servers and manager are hopeless.1st time we were already having our food when we were told to shift since a bigger group had come.We obviously refused.2nd time they charged service tax on entire bill and charged tax for drinking water!(beat that).
3rd time, they charged 20 bucks and gave some stupid receipt as a part of liquor permit. After waiting inside for 30 mins,we didn't get a place and went to Bora Bora(Much much better place). We told that guy to give us 20 bucks back,he said u can use it anywhere(blatant lie).Nowhere were we told to pay 20 bucks.Little door guys, get a life and stop looting people!
Also, the crowd here is totally wannabe type and majority of them seemed to be under age drinking just to look cool.

The Rupees 20 charged to your group was for a daily liquor permit of Rupees 5 each. The little receipt that was given to you is mandato

unhelping staff

Been here twice :( but never been able to try out the food. The first time the guy who gave us directions till the doorstep forgot to mention the place was closed and will open only after 3 HRS. I cannot even begin to describe how irritated we were after driving from Andheri East all the way there and talking to the fellow giving us directions on how to reach the restaurant, That should have warned me about the place i guess. The second Time i went it was closed again . I have completely scratched off this place from my list of places to eat in mumbai. Too much trouble

Ho-hum

I've been here twice and tried both the indoor and outdoor seating. My favourite things about the place - the music, decor and the very creative menu card.
When it comes to beverages - the "whisk(ey)tea" is a cocktail best avoided. While the description seemed very interesting, the actual drink was dilute and downright insipid. Haven't tried the other cocktails, so can't really comment there.
The food is pretty good - being a vegetarian, my choices of course are always limited. The non-veg beef dish was nothing spectacular, according to co-diners. My grouse is the limited menu. There could be much, much more variety in there.

Another issue I had was the mosquito menace (this was when we were seated inside). It got so unbearable that we had to eventually cut short our visit. Service also gets a little sloppy as the place gets filled.

Hope these guys plug these gaps, because this place certainly has loads of potential!

good hangout

Good hangout place for people who do not want to drive all the
way to bandra or town. Cool Casual atmosphere with variety of drinks and good bites to get along with them. Surprisingly the music is awesome on some of the days and the vibe is great. The inner section is truly happening on weekends. Service can get slow sometimes but the staff is pretty sincere. Definitely worth a visit if you are staying around in that area.

Sunday Brunch

I won free vouchers on a Twitter contest for Sunday brunch at this place. To begin with fun vibe, board games very relaxed and good spread of bread, cheese, danishes etc. The hot food selection also is substantial and is cooked freshly and brought out. Enjoyed the greasy french fries, the omelet and the salads. The real slow service dented our experience but on a lazy Sunday afternoon, this is fun.

Neighbourhood bar saviour!!

The little door is a nice place to hangout with friends over their tasty bar nibbles and drinks. The atmosphere in the outside section is perfect for a chilled evening with friends but I'm not a big fan of the inner AC section The inside it does tend to get a bit too loud with the music, the kitchen door right there and servers moving in and out constantly. It has a lot of pros - good booze, good atmosphere and decent food but only on a regular day.
I had heard so much about the Sunday brunch but actually i wasn't too happy with it The service was not upto the mark, the food took forever and orders kept on getting mixedup, the servers were confused about who ordered what, the buffet was not refilled, the dessert counter was a mess by the end of the brunch. I guess they had not estimated the turnout and hadn't prepared accordingly.I'd visit this place for a regular meal and drinks with friends but not for the brunch. Although, me being a dessert person their dessert menu is really tempting!!

Sunday Brunch at The Little Door

As a part of our series on Sunday Brunches, Shirin Mehrotra visits The Little Door in Andheri (W) to see why you should spend your Sunday there.

The bright entrance of The Little Door is quite inviting, so is the outdoor section, especially on a rainy day. But thanks to the cleanliness of the surrounding area you can’t sit there without being bothered by the flies. All the efforts of keeping them away by the staff go down the drains (literary so since the nullahs around have been dug up). So much for pre-monsoon preparations we must say. The better option is to sit indoors and enjoy the board games especially if you are bored.

The restaurant that opens its little door only in the evening has now started serving Sunday Brunch; Spirited Brunch for the sober souls and The Hungover’s Brunch for the ones who spend their Saturday nights guzzling. I, being the sober one opted for the Spirited Brunch which gave me a choice of unlimited sangria, classic cocktails and beer. Replace the alcohol with coffee, tea or a Foster’s and you’ll have your Hungover’s Brunch.
The five course meal has a salad station and a choice of hot breakfast, entrée, main course and dessert. I ordered white wine sangria and picked up salads from the spread which included bacon stuffed tomatoes, crab stick and corn salad, honey and mustard chicken salad, green pasta salad, watermelon and feta cheese salad and baby potatoes with creamy spinach salad. The counter also had humus, pita, cheese and cold cuts. While most of it is about average, the bacon stuffed tomatoes are delicious with cheese oozing out of them.

The hot breakfast section has a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian crepes, panini, omelettes, French toast, Egg Benedict etc. I ordered for a crepe stuffed with scrambled eggs and crispy bacon which was a decent option as you can’t really go wrong with scrambled eggs. The tiny bits of crispy bacon mixed with scrambled eggs and wrapped in thin crepe tasted very delicious and made for a light start. The only thing that was wrong with this dish was the sour cream which wasn’t sour at all and lacked any flavour. As I was digging in the crepe my eyes wandered through the menu one more time and I spotted Nutella pancakes in the hot breakfast section. I instantly knew that I was going to give the entrée a miss. Three small fluffy pancakes came stacked upon each other with Nutella drizzled all over them and a side of caramelized bananas. There’s no guessing that the plate was wiped clean. I can definitely go back for them any day.

Jumping to the main course I decided to stick to what I enjoy most, fish, and ordered a seafood sizzler; grilled fish (Rawas in my case) with saffron cream sauce. The fish came with a serving of parsley rice, fried potatoes and sautéed vegetables, and was a complete meal. The sauce with a subtle flavour of saffron was fabulous and rich. The dessert section includes fresh fruit sticks and yogurt, cup cakes and brownies, but I bet none of them can beat the Nutella pancakes.
The staff at The Little Door is courteous and service is good. They let you eat at your own pace and enjoy the time you are spending. After being there for good two and a half hours I was happy and content and would love to come back for another relaxed Sunday brunch.

Price: The Hungover’s Brunch – Rs 793 + taxes

Spirited Brunch – Rs 1797 + taxes

Sunday Brunch Experts

Recently I had seen many people mentioning TLD. It was talk of the town, atleast on twitter. So, I landed up there to try out their Sunday Hangover Brunch and I was in for surprises. So here goes,
True to its name, The Little Door has a blue colored little door if you want to go inside. This is quite a unique thing really. Upon entering, you are greeted with this large table that is filled with board games and what not. This really long table can accomodate 20 people at a time. It doubles up as a deck for taking tequila shots. So I call it the 'Shots Table'. Sounds like fun when 20 people take shots at one go.
The Shots table rests in outer part which is open but well covered so that rain drops dont drop in to visit you. The outer part is more spacious and I saw a troupe celebrating someone's birthday there. This place is an ideal place to celebrate birthdays or anniversaries since the ambiance is such, one feels laid back or chilled out. The inner part has equal area in seating , the difference being it is air-conditioned and Bose Speakers make their their presence felt. So if you are sitting out, its quieter.
The Sunday Hangover Brunch gives you the freedom to move around. Its not like any other place that keeps you glued to your seat. The appetizers, salads and dessers are self-service, so you can grab as much as you want, just that you will have to get up. I felt this was a good thing, trying to make you feel at home. The waiters will serve you drinks and food.
I chose vegetarian stuff from the brunch so I had lesser choices. If you eat non-veg then they have more options for you.
The service was a bit laid back that day, maybe that is the idea of a hangover brunch or maybe lot of people were present. The food came in late but it was delicious. I loved their mock tails and Pasta. There were a lot of cheesy items on the table, and it proved to be a boon as I love cheese, the cheese-o-holic me.
Go with with your gang to have blast. This place is a must visit. Drink and make merry.

not a nice experience

The ambiance is very well done. the food is strictly ok ..I went on a sunday afternoon for the brunch. There were a bunch of crazy women who were just too loud and noisy to deal with so me and husband decided to switch chairs. We had a couple of things in the salad bar frankly speaking its one of the most disastrous platter I have eaten in a while. We called for the blue berry pancake and yogurt. It was really good .alongside we called for a omlette with cheese and the waiter comes after about 45 minutes with a ham omlette. I do not eat meat so we returned it and the cheese omletter came in 5 mins. Then we tried out the desserts they were also ok nothing spectacular. We were too drained with the noise and the slow service so went for a take away of the crepes. We come home and the crepes smell odd.The potato fritters have been fried in fish oil and the crepes had prawns and chicken in them. not to forget the credit card machines didn't work i think they swiped out cards like about 7 times. In all except for the decor everything else is a mess

Highly Recommended!

The most chilled out brunch this side of Town. Apart from the regular buffet (read sausages / salami, etc) and desserts, there's a excellent selection of Starters, Entrees and Main Course (Part of the brunch). Was there 2 days back with my wife. We ate -
Starters -
Choice of eggs (yummy sheese omlette) and bacon on the side / Eggs Benedict (The best one in town IMO)
Entree
Chicken Shwarma (Juicy and not too soggy) / Seafood Pizza (which had an awesome calamari topping)
Main Course - Steak Pomodoro (Juicy and awesome mash to the sides) / Fried Bombay Duck (this was the only disappointing dish due to the batter being too fried)
And yea, plus 6 glasses of Draught Beer pouring down my throat :)
Also, the best part is that it's very chilled out and the fact they keep games such as Scrabble, UNO, Jenga, etc...
This one...You gotta try out!

Gr8 place to spend some good time!

we went to this latest buzz in the town on our friends b'day!! The first thing we noticed about the place is its unique LITTLE DOOR which speaks a lot from where did the place got its name.

As soon as we step it, we just got the feeling "tonight gonna be good" on a Thursday night the place was jam packed. Since we got dea unannounced difficulty for finding a table was there. So before you go please make a prior reservation or you can spend wasting time finding a table.

This place has all the Thumbs Up for making a memorable night! Ambieance was good, Music was gr8! Bar area is decent (though we didn't had much access to that)! Seating n Evethng else was jst fine. But when it come to food the place is no exclusive! Starters are good! Main Course are average! nothing much for veggies.

Overall nice place to Hang out and spend some good time.

P.S. Please enlarge your food menu for Veggie and also the quality of food (we were served a stone with a burger and that is something not expected from such place).

Just Average! Service even below avg!

Lets start with the good things!
1) Nice decor! The lighting creates a soothing atmosphere!
2) Easy on the ears music! No need to shout for the other person to hear
3) Nice and friendly staff!
3) Pretty decent rates!

Now the unfortunate part:
1) REALLY SLOW SERVICE: even when 95% of the place was empty, the service was really slow, had to call several times to clean up the plates. Half of the time i was staring at the used up tissues since the waiters were interested in themselves only.

2) FOOD: Even though we didnt go beyond the starters, the food was simply average! (1 dish to rave about was the Shrimp Brouchette! That was heavenly! A must try! I finished up the whole plate !)
Otherwise, Bruschetta was not warm enough.
Strixxi Mimli was okayish, not enough dip served with it to finish off the dish also.

(Never got the tabasco which i called for)

3) NO MENU FOR MOCKTAILS? This might be situational, but since saturday was a dry day, i asked for mocktails, on which the waiter was verbally telling me the menu. C'mon guys, a cool place like yours making such a mistake? Cant blame the poor chap, maybe because there is no mocktails menu. Nvm.

VERDICT: All in all, a decent place, nicely done with above average food. Yet to try the drinks. May or may not visit again.

Hope this helps, cheers !

cause for sickness

Dear Readers,

My name is Nikhil Wadhwani, 2 of my friends along with me had visited the restaurant on 22nd April 2012 and had acquired the same typhoid (S-typhi) by eating food and drinking water at this place. The management was informed about our situation and they promised to take some action on the matter. 1 month later the management decides not to take the blame on themselves. At the same time, all 3 of us have gone through a relapse of typhoid.

I just request all patrons to be safe and not visit such restaurants where the management itself does not take any responsibility of the diseases caused to its customers.

I will also urge the government agencies and the FDA department to take strict action against this restaurant and conduct surprise visits to such places to check on their hygine conditions, as this place is a breeding ground for flies and mosquitoes which 3 of us have witnessed ourselves on 2nd June 2012 at 4.30 pm when we had visited the restaurant for some discussions with the management.

Feels like home :-D :-D

TLD is the funnest new place in the suburbs. The vibe is simply amazing and the staff makes everyone play drinking games etc which do make everyone bond. You always end up making new friends here. Let me warn you this place is mainly for young people or the young at heart. Me and my friends are here every weekend. The alcohol is very very reasonable we never feel the pinch on our wallets :-D we do end up spending approximately 1300 - 1500 per person (also cause we all drink a lot) and eat a lot so we always feel its value for money and don't mind paying.
So on all weekdays the music is very chilled and nice and everyone's usually sitting and having a drink or two along with some food after a long day of work and on the weekends (Friday Saturday) the place is TOTALLLYY different with EVERYONEE going crazy...

However it does get quite hot in the outside section and you end up sweating. That's the only problem we face however if your two drinks down it doesn't
matter ;-)

By far TLD is my new favorite place in the suburbs.

Nice place, good khopcha galli it is in. Gets too crowded over weekends, so better reserve table and reach before 9. Start drinking early. Nice in-house DJ and fully packed place. If u are not allergic to kiddos drinking arnd u, u shld survive at the place.
And yes food quantity is just okay, but tastes very good. God knows how the waiters keep a tap on people and how do they collect money in the end, since its always packed and people just wander.

lacks originality !

The Decor is Ok , nothing unusual ... except for quirky stuff like the little door , the blue table, the fish bowl .

food sucks ... had got a totally saltless chicken ( Polo Verde), presentation was so bad , the chicken had a very mangy look , got it back with a little salt , but had to wait for the cutlery , the wine a bottle of rose jacob's creek , had turned a little vinegar , 1747 +340 taxes ( for a bottle of Vinegar) The Bellini suggested by the staff was quite nice , refreshing change .

The music is too loud for my liking .... but the others seemed to be having a good time .

Special mention for the manager , he was trying his hardest best to run everything smoothly , they all looked highly stressed .

Had read that this place has been started by ad agency guys ...had expected it to be good in all quarters , but quiet disappointed , .... Over all the place really needs to work on its food , wine and service . A drinking hole for beer guzzlers ..... ( prices for beer really good ) and for the teeny boppers.( have a romantic slot from 5.00 pm to 7.00 p.m.)

Disappointing

if your going for a non- alcoholic and a vegetarian night ...trust me its a bad choice . The non - alcoholic beverages suck ..very bad !!..Staff is hospitable and friendly. ordered something that had capsicum in in it ...on the menu it sounded nice ..on the plate, it was a disaster ...there was rice filled in 2 capsicums with their top off !..and some carrots at the side and thats it !... for drinks we ordered a beer type non - alcoholic beverage ..which was served in the beer glass but was as awful as the main course.
all in all ...disappointing

They might set you on fire and click pictures.

Brilliant music, good ambiance etc. goes for a toss if your face catches fire. I am talking about an incident that happened at this place last Thursday. First of all, learn how to serve a flaming shot and then sell it to people. If at all you don't know how to go about it, atleast don't burn them!
The management and the bar-tender thought it wasn't a big deal if a couple of their guests get burnt while serving a flaming shot.

I was there at a table close-by while the victim's friends were running around to get first aid, and the manager, or whoever that guy was, posing for a picture and singing Happy Bday to someone. I wonder if he would have done the same had that bunch had set their lounge on fire.

May be its their arrogance since they have become so popular in no time.

Awesome Place and Awesome People

I have been to The Little Door on my last visit to Mumbai and had wonderful time with great ambiance; humble and polite service with amazing food and drinks, the best part of the place is you'll forget all your stress of the day. Awaiting for my next visit to Mumbai for great time at The Little door. Thank you TLD for the courtesy and the Gala Time.

little door with big surprises

The music is always on point. Almost everything on the food menu is fantastic, the cocktails and straight drinks actually have alcohol in them unlike many other places. And you'll be pleasantly surprised when the bill arives :) All in all this is place to be on the weekend.

If you live on that side of the sea-link, you must not miss this place.

NO DRAMA JUST A PLACE ABOVE THE REST!

third weekend consecutively at the little door and i just called and checked they don't have entry at all. it was a shock when i read that so i had to call since they have a policy of no entry. had a great time last sunday as well with under the influence playing. though the sound outside had a little problem but the gig was fantastic and the ambience makes you so happy that you forget everything outside the little door. look forward to being there for jug chug.

Hey Pricnenaitik,

Glad you liked our place! We have a policy of not charging people to enter The Little Door either on weekdays or weekends. You can enter whenever you want and will not have to pay. We do plan on having gigs and events on certain days of the month but mostly all gigs are free unless otherwise specified.

Hope to see you at The Little Door again.

Worst Management Attitude

The best ambience, most delightful food and the most soothing music adds up to nothing when the attitude of the owners is worse than the foulest you could find this side of Mumbai. Not that the food is delightful or the music the best. In fact, it didnt matter because one of the bartenders set one of our friend's face on fire when executing a clumsy flaming drink ritual.

The first reaction of the bartender was to go behind the kitchen walls while the owner, one Mr. Keith Menon, after watching all of this, went on to socialize with the crowd at the next table. Forget apologies, his attitude was cheeky to the point of arrogance. The first aid came in much later, there was no sign of acknowldgement even till it was forced upon them by one of us in the group.

One of the most distasteful experiences coming from an industry where service is at the core. It is such a shame that a place that could have been a passable go-to address has turned sour because of the attitude of the management. Keith Menon, 'bro', shit happens. I agree. But bad attitude in the face of calamity is the worst kind of irresponsibility.

Also, stop setting people on fire.

Dear Deepak,

We know whatever we say and how much ever we apologise it will not suffice. We are extremely sorry and furthermore for this delayed apology. As part of our effort to see that such an incident never takes place again we have taken off any flaming shots from our menu as well as let go of the staff involved with this incident.

The bartender did go behind, but it was to look for the first aid kit. Either way we aren’t making any excuses out of it. We request a chance to meet and clarify all such issues that occurred

Wow!!

Loved the interiors...impeccable!!

We werent too hungry the day we went there, but loved the chicken shawarma.. Had some prawn thing after that, which could have been much better, but honestly the interiors just made up for it... the only let down - the music...seriously guys house music doesn't suit the interiors...play some acousitc/ european/ or Indian fusion....

Nice place, with great potential... Just change the music...oh and maybe hold live music, I can bet it will be a big hit...

Thanks for the honest feedback! We have been working hard on the music and have had some really interesting and fun gigs too. We're also working on having gigs on a regular basis. The music on weekdays is now on the softer side - veering towards rock, alternative, european... while weekends, of course by demand is electronic dance. Hope to see you again, sometime soon.

The Little Door

Four ad-men get together to start a restaurant and what do you get? A little hub of creativity with a very 'hatke' menu and superb ambiance. TLD is perfect for a fun night out with the gang. For a change, starters & drinks are reasonably priced and easy on the wallet. The music is very loud and peppy so be prepared to shout over it. The food is incredibly yum:) We tried the mushroom cheese starter and bell pepper risotto both of which we couldn't get enough of! I would definitely go back to TLD sometime soon. Its a great option for a birthday treat!

love it

i have already been to this place twice. once for a quick drink and another time to celebrate a birthday.
Both the experiences have been great.the service is great along with the food which is not outstanding but worth the money they charge. the place is clean , so are the toilets. the ambiance is superb.
on the whole, its a brilliant hang out for a very reasonable pricing. interesting cocktail menu (havent tried anything though)

Great place to chill out...

Yesterday, went there to celebrate a friend's birthday, and it turned out to be much better than expected. There's this little cute door to enter, leading to lots of amusement for my group watching portly me try to make it through.
The inside is nice - loungey-pubby, but in an elegantly simple way. Big plus - very butt friendly chairs in the AC section inside.
Simply have to share the experience in some detail. Started with the Salad Grecque - fusili with vegs and feta (a little more of that would have been nicer). Along with that had the TLD Tlata (don't go by the tongue-twister names - do as we did - just point the finger on the menu), which is chhota pita pockets with hummus, tapenade and baba ganoush - quite nice. Being the only carnivore, I asked for the Gambas Pil Pil - prawns in a mediterranean dressing of olive oil and herbs sauteed to almost perfection. I think they didn't mean to but the prawns were a shade underdone, just the way I like them. You may want to tell them to do them well.
The Trozos de Papa (spiced potato wedges) were among the best I've ever had. With a delicious dip. So were the masala french fries - 2 very good things they do with potatoes. Went well with the chilled beer (yeah, for once a restaurant that serves beer at the right temperature).
The Tutto Incluso - pizza with all things veg on it was a thin-crust baked right and would be 5-star with a little more generosity with the cheese.
The fondue was good - could've been a little cheesier (were they running short on cheese, I wonder). Order it if you're a group - its a great ice-breaker.
The mushrooms in beer batter were superb - Funghi Riepieni. Name's fancier than the home-style taste.
For the main course, i went with my favorite - peppered steak (hey, they call it exactly that). In a nice wine-brown pepper sauce, with lotsa veggies on the side and mash potato (I'd like them to offer a fries option). It was verrrry good. Don't go fancy with 'medium-rare' requests, just have it the way they give it - well done.
But the curtain call deservedly belongs to an awesome dessert - Jack Daniels mousse. We also tried the Tiramisu (with Bristol Irish cream) and there was a debate for some time. But the JD Mousse won hands down.
It's been one of the most satisfying 2 hours I've spent in dining out in a while. And I do tend to eat out a lot.
The service was attentive, courteous, fast when you wanted it to be, and managed to be cheerful on a hectic Sunday night.
In the summer, I think the al fresco section might get a little warm, but if you like it outdoors (for whatever reasons) its well laid out.
Happiness here doesn't come at too steep a price - it's not cheap, but its good value.
And yes, they play some mean, funky music to set your mood.
I'm normally hard to please - but this place has managed to wring out this effusive flattery because they worked hard to earn it.
Keep it up guys - don't let this go to your head - I'm coming back to check you out again - don't make me go back on my words.

Thank you, Sir... your suggestions & observations have been duly noted :) Hope to see you back sometime soon... and a special suggestion from our side - do try the Beef Burger, we're especially proud of it!

Lovely eatery outdoors on aa cool night

Tucked into one of the corners of Andheri, this place has a lovely ambience, something you do not see very often in Mumbai. The starters are especially good, however we didn't try the main course. The staff is very helpful and they seem to understand what you want. Great experience.

neat place for eating while you drink!

Pretty neat place with affordable prices for food and drink. It answers the perrenial question of "Where should I eat if I'm going out for drinks" in Lokhandwala by having a great drink and food menu.

Hung out there last saturday and the crowd was pretty cool!
