Visit only if you do not have any other option!!
I visited with my 2 friends for buffet. The hotel is good in ambience, the immediate impression you get when you enter in the hotel is vow! But unfortunately, you do not have the same feelings when you are out.
The buffet starts at 12:30 and the food at 12:30 is almost cold. Very limited options.
Waiters are clueless of what they are doing. We were stumped to see rotis served at our desk when we were having our starters (Ya we did not ask them to serve). And when we actually needed one, it took ages to come.
Butter naan was served without butter on it. In desserts only Fresh fruits tasted the best!! Buffet for 3 with iced lemon Tea came to nearly 2100. Really not worth spending. Would suggest only if there is no other good option available.
Great buffet available
In the month of August, I had been to a training session in Kohinoor Continental for 3 days and had lunch in their Solitaire restaurant. I am writing this review because I feel obliged to give them a feedback for the nice and thoughtful food they had put up for those three days.
For all the three daysthe lunch is simple yet thoughtful. In a lot of places, especially for buffet lunch, to attract customers they put up a lot of items without proper thoughtso there seems to be lot to eat but combinations dont click well. Here this was not the case. Their mutton dish on the 2nd day (probably laal maas) was awesomest, as well as their simple desserts.
Would love to go back to this place in future too.
Decent place for buffet
It was my sister's birthday when we decided to try The Solitaire since it is quite nearby from our place. One of us had been here for business lunches/dinners so we all thought we should see for ourselves too.
The ambiance is admirable with a large curvy staircase alongside the corner and small and big water filled show pieces with flowers floating kept at regular intervals. The restaurant has a view of the pool. The seating area is decent enough with small and large tables alike.
We decided to go with the buffet since we were a lot of people with different tastes. The menu was pretty good. Few startes, salads, pasta, rice, dal, roti, vegetables for main course. 4-5 desserts like kheer., ice cream, pastry and mousse. The pasta was good since it was freshly made in front of us. They also had a live chaat counter which was tasty too.
The service is good here. Very attentive and co-operative. The attendants were kind enough to prepare separate vegetables in jain style for some of us and normal for the rest of us.
Overall it was a good experience, although, nothing great either. Everything was good but not extraordinary.
Visited in the eve for dinner.
We were group of many ppl, so told the manager to join the tables to accommodate all together everybody in one go. The dumb manager was very reluctant to do so since he was given some work to do from us. He was giving non senseical excuses dat buffet is their it is not possible, their was height when he said dat the hotel ambiance is such that they cannot accommodate many ppl in one stretch. Wow this was really bizzare excuse from such a big hotel. Then came his deputy and some waiters who helped us to get things going. Some how things got right and we had been in places. The other argument which the manager did was that he cannot give Ala Carte to so many ppl, the reason he gave is we done serve Ala Carte to ppl above 10 WTF!!!!! the reason he gave was that one dish will take 20-30 mins to be served, he tried very hard to push us to buffet, but we wanted Ala Carte and in the end we got it :)
To start of with ordered starters and booze, the booze was not at all chill, jus the bottle was chill nt d contents. The starters wer nive, had both non-veg and veg. Bt the starters quantity was way less for the price which was taken. One starter can be divided into 2 max to max 3 ppl, nt more than dat.
On to the main course, since our tummy was half full wid starters and all, we had ordered sumthn light, prawns biryani and prawns curry was on the table to fill our half stomach. Biryani was ok, ntn great guns about it. Prawns curry was nice.
To end our bitter experience out here we wanted to have desserts, so almost everybody ordered Malai kulfi to finish day with. A heart shaped kulfi came in the plate, 1st bite and i was like 'Crap, is this kulfi worth 200 bucks?' It was jus hopeless, waste of money.
In the end, a bad exp overall, no proper staff, the waiters are nt well trained, arrogant manager to deal with. No. VFM. Nt visiting this place again for sure.
My worst experience of a buffet dinner, the ad says great food, great ambiance, great price
The ambiance being good, the price was certainly not worth it, almost no starters spread, even tough we reached at 8pm the main course was tasteless almost over and not refilled. I had to actually search for waiters to inform or ask for something
and who gives lapsi and boodi for dessert ?
SORRY solitare......... i'm not coming back
Perfect setting for a power lunch
Visited this place actually its a resturant in Kohinoor Continental for lunch and tried their buffet which seemed quite elaborate. The chicken tikkas and the fish chilly was well done. Even the maincourse was wholesome, the Chicken Lababdar and Shahi Paneer is worth a try. All n all a classy resturant for one of those corporate lunches in the vicinity..
