SPARE KITCHEN......A mind boggling place

Everything they serve you is with style, right from Indian Chaat to desserts. I celebrated my birthday there.
Co-operative staff that is friendly too. the chaat food is different than the traditional chaat on juhu beach. We loved the presentation. For the desserts they had cutting chai and chocolate mousse on offer. A fish tank below the bar makes it more beautiful. Worth a one time visit. will definitely visit soon....Thanks to Pandit (Captain)

Rude Attitude

The restaurant seems to command a sense of rude attitude which is reflected in the waiters and the staff and they way they talk to customers.

2 weeks ago my family of 12 decided to go there for dinner. We obviously had to come in multiple cars and our family kept coming one by one. The door lady refused entry for the first lot stating that 'until and unless 70% of the family does not arrive we will not permit entry'. I understand that many restaurants ask for a majority of the table to be full but strictly stating that unless 70% do not arrive we will not let you in sounds a little too strict. They were that adamant that even when 8 of us arrived they didnt allow us in because 70% of 12 is more than 8 (8.4) and hence entry cannot be permitted!!!!! I was quite aghast with this rule and attitude that the restaurant has.

The problem did not end there, the service staff was quite poor and were in a constant hurry to clear the table and make us move out so they can allot they table to someone else. My grandparents also complained that the Indian food was cold and inedible and didnt taste too good.

Somehow when a restaurant commands such discipline and price, they must also deliver and live up to expectations.

good food takes time. Big kitty Party Place

We went there at 12.30 pm . Most of the place is reserved for kitty parties during the week. We ordered fish n chips . it too 40 minutes. But the presentation and quantity was better than most places . This made up for the noisy kitty parties all around

Good Food and Superb Presentation

Was at this place the other day for Holi dinner with friends and family. Was amazed at the presentation of food being served at our table. No doubt a lot of brain storming must have gone in for the presentation. Coming to the main part i.e. food. Would like to state that the restaurant wins hand-down. All that we ordered from starters to main course to desserts were fab. Not to be missed items include the Mushroom starter, Paneer tikka (though found it little bland), the Mumbai chaat platter had 3 puris on top of small glasses, 2 cute vada pav and bhel. All being veg we went in for the chef's suggestions which included Baingan bharta, Mushroom Palak and the awesome Amritsari Chole. All in all a truly great experience. KEEP IT UP!!!!

Had a Good Time!

Had been on a weekday for the first time after reading the reviews on burrp website.
Great Ambiance, loved the food and service was excellent. Menu has huge number of items and price is decent as well. Dinning area has good comfortable seating arrangement and very well spread out. Lounge area has sofa's and chairs. Lots of projectors around playing video's (mute) and different numbers are playing around.

I was there with my wife and we started with ordering a single appetizer, after speaking to the waiter who helped us select from the list of menu. Mutton was nice and soft + the taste was exactly the way my wife has predicted after we placed the order.

For main course, we went with ordering chicken as per the waiter suggested. Along with new plates a small mini board was served which has 4 small buckets of chutney's cone shaped papad and 2 - 3 whole onion's with knife. Cut the onion, way you want to eat.

The chicken was served with a glass of whiskey and they burnt the whiskey and poured that into the chicken gravy in front of us. We ordered Roti and Naan along with chicken gravy. Chicken was good, tender and pieces were good in size.

After that we ordered Chicken Briyani: it was nicely done and had a good time eating that with raita served by them along with briyani.

We couldn't order desserts, since we were already full. The quantity of main course is decent enough for 2 people.

At the end, lemon grass shots are been served. Overall a very good experience and I would back with friends and cousins again to explore other dishes and delicacies.

Few things to consider: its not a fine dinning restaurant, music is been played at a high volume inside. so people looking for quiet place, needs to think twice. Otherwise its a perfect place to be in and enjoy the ambiance and food.

fancy

No hype, no airs, just the coolest chef I have ever met...full of creative ideas translated to delightful delicacies.
The spare kitchen is a vast varied restaurant with several concepts rolled into one. A lounge area, dinning area, bar-b-q area, cricket match/sports watching area near a bar and so on. The food is excellent served in unusual crockery/cutlery.

Remove a lil Spare time for The Spare Kitchen

Progressive Indian Cuisine was on my mind for a while and happened to be in Juhu so thought that TSK would be perfect for it. Its in a dark narrow lane which was a little difficult for us to find. Overall, the experience was something different and unusual but yet amazing.

Ambience- Huge space with indoor and outdoor sections which can seat many people. We preferred the indoor seating which was decent and spacious. The Fish Tank is decorated with Booze bottles and cans and looks wonderful and is a treat to the eyes.

Food- For starters we ordered
Malabari Lamb- Beautifully cooked lamb in malabar style on uttapams with gun powder(molaga podi). Just exquisite in taste. You can;t miss this one.

Chilly Garic Chicken Tikka- It had the chilly garlic marinade on boneless chicken pieces but was pretty ok. Nothing special.

For Mains we ordered
Wannabe Sri Lankan Fish Curry- The plating was fabulous. The Basa was fried to perfection on top of Coconut Rice and the Gravy along with it was heavy and rich in texture. It was a nice dish.

Chicken Pardewali Biryani- Biryani cooked Dum style was well-made but not the best around. Better options available.

For dessert we ordered the
Chocolate Fantasy- Choc Hazelnut Tart, Choc Ice-Cream, Mocha Cake, Truffle Balls(slightly spicy), Choc Spoon and Cutting Chai(with Garam Masala) is one of the best desserts i've had in a while. Just fantastic.

Service- Its nice and warm and the captains are good with their suggestions.

Prices- Definitely expensive. The above meal costed us around Rs 2500. But was something different and can be splurged on once in a while.

Verdict- Try the place for new and inventive dishes! you will like it ;)

GREAT FOOD .

IMPROMPTU PLANS FOR DINNER YESTERDAY , WELL '' THE SPARE KITCHEN '' WAS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY FRIENDS . TRUE TO ITS WORD , LOVELY AMBIANCE .. FRESH , WITH A DECENT OUTDOOR / AL FRESCO AREA.

THE CHEF DESERVES SPECIAL COMPLIMENTS - SIMPLY OUT STANDING FOOD , BRILLIANT PRESENTATION - HOT ROTIS - EVEN IN THIS WEATHER ,!! SADLY THE WAITERS ARE EITHER FRESHERS OF JUST'' UN TRAINED ''

THE PLACE HAS HAD ITS SHARE OF EATERIES , INCLUDING THE GREAT '' DON GIOVANI '' WHO SHUT DOWN SOME TIME BACK.THIS TIME AROUND WITH THE AWESOME FOOD , PRICED VERY VERY FAIRLY -[ PS YOU CAN BUY BOOZE BY THE BOTTLE ALSO .]- THE SPARE KITCHEN SHOULD DO WELL - GUYS GET IN BETTER STEWARDS , WAITERS & SERVERS - GOOD FOOD DEMANDS DECENT IF NOT GREAT -SERVICE...

Simply Superb

This is a newly opened place and thus wasn't totally full on a Sunday afternoon. Any place should be first judged on the taste of the food and tsk scores a 10 on 10 in that aspect. The food was a little on the spicier side but was very yummy. The waiters very polite & patient. The Mumbai chat platter and the dal makhni are amazing. All in all a great place to visit. A special mention about the presentation of the food.. The chef has paid special attention to this and it definitely pays off as it makes a great first impression about the food.

One of the best place to have good food

This is my first review on a restaurant, I can say that the food I had at this place made me to write this review and I wanted other food lovers to try out this place.
Had gone there with 3 of my friends for Dinner. This is a new place in town. The ambience was very good. Even tough it is new the place was buzzing.
For drinks I had the Virgin Orange Mojito the presentention was too good and so was the taste. Two of us being vegetarian the Chef suggested us the mumbai Chat platter, which had Pani poori, Pav Bhaji, Vada and Bhel all the contents were minianutre but tasted perfect.
Now to the main course again as suggested by Chef Rajesh we ordered for Panner Kalimiri Khadia, Dal Tadka and Roti. I generally judge the main course of a restaurant with the taste of the Dal they serve, but they served the Roti and panner first and the moment I tasted the Panner it was like this is the best panner dish I have ever had, the roti's were crispy as I ordered for crispy roti's and when I tasted the Dal it was awesome.
