Good place to eat dinner with friends at

We entered the place at 10.30 on a week day, the place was pretty empty as there were hardly 6-7 tables occupied. The ambiance makes one feel very comfortable. We called for cocktails from the 'cocktails of the day' menu which were not as interesting as the name. We had the Four Cheese Pizza, Penne Arabiatta, Garlic Bread. Food was quite decent. They have some mouth watering desserts which one must try.

The first time I went I only had a Rocket Leaf salad and a grappa drink which burnt a huge whole in my pocket. However, the lovely vibe at the restaurant pulled me back and I came to try the Italian fare this time - I had the Quattro Formaggi pizza which was quite yummy.loved the watermelon and goat cheese terrine and the wild mushroom parcels. The Ratatouille Vegetable Risotto and Grilled Chicken Diable were very nice too, as were the desserts - pannacotta and chocolate fondant.

Food Heaven

You walk in to this place and you know it will be a good experience..the ambience is soothing, muted, classy. The wait staff is well versed with the wine list and helpful with their recommendations. The beetroot carpaccio, mini lamb burgers, baked cheese and bread, soup, risotto and pizza were all outstanding. The price is steep, specially with alcohol but this is one of the few places in Mumbai that offer you service, food and ambience to justify it.

The highs are high, and lows rather low

A friend and I went in for a mid-week lunch. The place was sparsely filled when we got in around 1:30 pm. A Japanese contingent here, a few professionals/businessmen there. Generally low-volume. I think there was piped music too. The fact that I can't clearly remember means that it wasn't a jarring presence.

I've visited the place at night before and it has a swish look with the recessed lighting on. During the daytime, it looked a bit more subdued. Almost 'worn out' even.

Onto the food then: We took the prix fixe menu...a six-course affair.
My friend got a caprioska and said she loved it.

The amuse bouche was a pleasant small plate, an arugula (rocket) salad, which was nice to start off the meal.
For the soups, we got the French Onion and the American Corn. The French Onion was the clear winner for me. Quite loved the melted gruyere on top. The American corn was unexceptional.
For the appetizers we got the watermelon and goat cheese terrine, and the char grilled prawns. The terrine was good, but the char grilled prawns were the clear standout. The prawns were succulent and cooked just right, and went well with the greens and the citrusy sauce.
The server got us half portions of the plain margherita and the chorizo. As a meat-lover, I quite liked the chorizo, with its spice and saltiness. The pizza was done pretty well. I'd say I was pretty full by this point with the mains ahead of me.

For the mains, we chose the chargrilled fillet mignon (I asked mine medium) and the garlic chilly prawns with seafood risotto, truffle butter, and scallop. The prawns + risotto was another standout dish. The risotto was more 'done', which is how I like it. However, didn't see much of the scallop and definitely didn't think I could smell truffle on the dish.
I was looking forward to the steak, but it came in well done and super tough. Needed a lot of muscle to cut in. I asked for the dish to be taken away. The manager came by our table and told us that he agreed that the steak had been overcooked and replaced the steak, which came in proper medium with a nice layer of pink. That said, the steak was pretty sinewy on the cut and on the chew. I've had a better steak at Indigo. The manager mentioned that I should try the wagyu or the black angus. Those are likely to be much better.

The dessert (panna cotta and the chocolate fondant) were completely forgettable. Now I feel I should have stopped at the seafood risotto.

The service was reasonable, not always very knowledgable or attentive but nothing to grumble about either. What did strike me a lot was the poor quality of the silverware and the chipped dinnerware. For an expensive fine dine, the least they can do is get good stuff...at least some new stuff if not Villeroy and Boch.

Overall, we had a great meal with a few high points (the two prawn dishes and the french onion soup) and the low points (steak and desserts).

I know driving everyone around me crazy cause I was dying to try out this place. The first time I went I only had a Rocket Leaf salad and a grappa drink which burnt a huge whole in my pocket. NEVER VISIT - RUN BY CROOKS

Never visit this place. While the food is fine, the management and team are snooty, abusive, and hell bent on ripping you off.

My husband and I visited 212 for a very special occasion, and had the single most upsetting experience I have had at a restaurant in my life. I have lived in seven countries in Europe and the US, and been to the finest restaurants in the world, and never been treated like I was at 212 last night. Our meal was fine but My husband made the mistake of ordering a gin and tonic and was completely misled by the waiter. The waiter asked him unclearly if he wanted a large (never offering another option) and he said yes, assuming that was the stated drink in the menu. He ordered a second drink. When we got a bill, we were charged for 4 drinks or 2 large drinks, because the price of a large is apparently twice that of a regular. No one told us this. Never were we told that a large is two times the price or size of a regular - the waiter never even suggested this. This looks like clear hiding of information and an attempt to cheat customers. When we tried to discuss this with the waiter or manager (Anthony), no one even bothered to LISTEN to us and just harassed us for a credit card, as if were not going to pay them. I wrote a scathing review on the menu card, and left. Even worse, the valet did not get our car - he had the guts to suggest we walk across to our car when it was POURING cats and dogs. We left the restaurant in disgust.

Even worse the next morning, I get a call from some chef called Mohammed who has the guts to tell me that I had no business to write such a review. He claims we did not understand the LINGO of restaurants and it was all our fault. When my husband called your restaurant back to speak to this guy, he REFUSED to speak to us. He also told me that he should be grateful he called me to find out what happened.

Whether it is Morimoto, Emirates, Taj, or any other top of the line hospitality player, customer service is the MOST important thing in the business. The food, the drinks, everything else is irrelevant - how you treat your customers comes first, and last night, and today morning I was a very unhappy customer. I have had issues - rarely - with all three of the above, and people have done their best to understand and address the issue. What I got from this team was not even an apology, but a complaint that I even complained. This issue is not about money that I was overcharged, it was the way I was treated, and it was the feeling of walking away being cheated by a snooty staff on a special occasion.

Amazing Italian food

If you want to get authentic Italian there’s no better place than 212. Spread over a vast area, it offers huge selection from veg and non-veg options. They claim to have an Italian chef who actually prepares the dishes (I guess it would over-see the preparation). The food is absolutely fantastic, though expensive (but many patrons won’t mind)

Authentic

Nice large place with a comfortable ambiance...

Must say the food taste very very good... and is very authentic.. especially the use of black truffle and truffle oil... Havent seen that in many restaurants in Bombay..

A must try is their mushroom soup.. Cant rem the name.. but its cappuccino of wild mushrooms and truffle .......

Similarly, the mushroom rissotto with truffle oil was amazing... another must try on the menu..

we also had a pizza.. they offer half and half pizza.. which is a good option to try two pizza's....

in desert, the chocolate fondant is delicious... the oozing hot chocolate keeps u wanting for me..

Lastly, service is very very slow .... and the food is super super super expensive...

But its got some good authentic dishes that are worth a try.... Will visit again for sure, as there were many other items in the menu that i wanted to try

Great Place for Authentic Italian Food

Discovered this place by mistake but what a pleasant surprise this place turned out to be - really great Italian food with authentic taste - just loved the place - however the portions are pretty small and the pricing a bit too steep - a must visit place !!!

Sampling the samplers

Have been to the restaurant a few time before with my office colleagues, so when my wife wanted to visit the nearby Rajasthan arts exhibition, we thought why not try another experience and booked up ahead. We were the first evening guests to arrive at the grill ; service was yet to get into full gear.I went for their 6 course sampler. My first 2 courses came in together, I thought they could have come separately. The plates scored high on presentation with quality ingredients but left us a bit bemused...the amuse bouche and corn soup portions were just about half a table spoon. I would give more marks to the soup as it had some sharpness to it and the corn flavours came through nicely. The watermelon goat cheese terrine and the Margherita pizza hit the right spots and took the experience to the next level. The pizza was thin, crispy with just the right amount of melting (and not oozing cheese)and tangy Pomodoro sauce. The terrine gave a nice balance of sweet bitterness with the goat cheese. The Chicken Diable was a meal in itself with the rosemary just making a perfect accompaniment. The Panna Cotta was a bit let down; I could not get the creaminess or get the milky taste that it should. My wife thought her chocolate dessert was outstanding. Overall I would still give the experience a 5 on 6..presentation, quality of ingredients and good taste scored for us. A definite must try to get a interesting sampler of some of Two One Two's all time favourite dishes.

If there was one restaurant you would dine in.....

If there was one restaurant in mumbai that you were allowed to dine in ...... it would have to be Two One Two ........ for continental food lovers only......

I pride myself on being a food afficionado and claim to know about (even if I have not visited) all the good eating places in Mumbai... However, my pride in my restaurant knowledge was badly shattered when a friend recently told me about this place opposite Jewel of India (not one of my favorite places either .. but that is another story) with this funny name of Two one Two. I had never heard of this and I think this fact, more than anything else, bruised my ego substantially. My foodie friend and me thus decided to try out this place immediately on the coming saturday.
After making the standard reservations, I landed up at the place and found myself walking in to the restaurant with some degree of irritation as there was no valet available to park my car..... Was this a sign of things to come?
As soon as I stepped into the restaurant area, my mood was somewhat alleviated seeing the ambience which is quite pleasing to the eyes.
We had a very attentive waiter who welcomed us into our seats and brought in a plate of fresh breads while we decided what to order. The wonderfully delicious bread and the different spreads kind of took the edge off the prices on the menu as we realised that this was a really high end eating place and our immediate reaction was " i hope it is worth the price we are paying".
Anyway, being meat freaks, we decide to order the Pork Belly and a Tenderloin Steak with Porcini Sauce. We were recommended a side order of Crispy Bacon as well.
The crispy bacon came in along with the soup (which was at just the right temperature and really flavorful). We were disappointed with the bacon as it was overdone and told the waiter so. He apologised profusely and asked us if we would like it replaced. As we had already had it all, we did not think it was correct to have it replaced.
When the main course of pork belly and steak was brought in, we were really floored by the presentation and the taste. Both items were ABSOLUTELY PERFECT !!!!! I was impressed to find that they had brought in a complimentary side of mashed potatoes which I had only mentioned in passing while ordering the steak.
We finished our main course and decided that we would take a recommendation for dessert.... We were suggested Raspberry Creme Brulee and Pecan Pie with Condensed milk icecream. Both were absolutely wonderful and we were completely satiated by the time we finished..... and happy that we had had one of the most pleasant dining experiences of our lives....
We were pleasantly surprised when given the bill that they had not included the bacon as we had expressed our dissatisfaction at the same.
This place will definitely burn a hole in your pocket but as I said if there was one only place that you could dine in...... THIS IS IT......

Visited on Sunday evening for dinner - well-lit, spacious, good ambience, wide choice of vegetarian dishes. Food was good but nothng to "die for" or "out of this world". The portions are small - really so when compared to prices - which are pretty stiff. Service standard reasonable. Would prefer The Tasting Room or Bunglow 9 instead of second visit.

Good ambiance and good food especially the pizza but very expensive. There is an option to sit outside which should be fun in winter but because it was summer we sat inside. The staff is very cordial too. Overall food was good but be ready to spend about Rs1500 per head for food + mocktails.

Reservations and Deep Pockets can get you in.

10-Jan-2012 marked my 2nd-month wedding anniversary and I thought of surprising my wife with a romantic dinner. She was recovering from a nasty ankle sprain and was at her mom's. So I drove down from work to Breach Candy to Worli to dine at Two One Two next to the Maruti showroom at Worli. It was about 8.30 in the evening and we both knew it was early for dinner and we should not have any problems getting a table. Car keys were given to the valet guy and my wife and I limped/walked in. The restaurant had about 3 tables occupied out of the 25-odd and the doubt about getting a table just vanished.

The nice lady at the reception welcomed us with a smile and asked if we had any reservations, which we did not. Surprisingly, she mentioned that she had reservations for 8.30 and does not have a table. I politely asked her to look around to see if she finds the restaurant packed. She insisted she did not have any tables. The wife and I, confused, walked out of the restaurant to find some other restaurant to go to, where the people welcome guests. Got back to the car asking for some other restaurants and I thought I'd talk to the owner/manager. I stepped out of the car again and went in asking for the manager. After about 10 minutes, a nice gentleman named Mr Nelson came in and the same story was told about reservations for 8.30pm (though it was 8.50pm this time around and no tables were occupied). Nelson informed me he could have us (pity) seated us outside and I declined. I handed him my visiting card and told him I'll make sure I come in again soon, this time with a reservation and walked out with a smile. Back in the car, the wife kept on her search for other restaurants and we found a few other in the area which were equally upscale. I heard a knock on the window and it was Nelson (the owner) requesting us (repeatedly) for him trying to arrange a table for us. The yes-no-yes-no kept going on for a good 5 minutes and I gave in with the look in the wife's eyes. As we walked in, I felt the 'reservation' excuse was probably because I was dressed in formal and my wife in casuals (as opposed to the high-society dress code).

Ambiance:
Agreed this is quite an upscale and exclusive restaurant for fine Italian dining and they had a very simple decor with flowers, indirect lighting and basic but comfortable furniture. The air conditioning was just about right, though too hot for me, but the wife looked comfortable.

Service:
When you get seated, the waiter helps you with the napkin and fills up your glass of water and brings you a plate of assorted fresh-baked bread which can be had with with some dips or a mix from the bottle of Balsmic vinegar and olive oil. The waiters were quite attentive and were in plenty. Joining the extremely low percentage of high society who frequent such Italian restaurants, the waiters were trained how to pronounce most of the dishes, which was a good touch since they know what they are serving you, when you don't.

Food:
We ordered for a 'Spaghetti Carbonara, crispy pancetta, eggs, cream, Parmigiano Reggiano' pasta and the Piccante pizza (Spicy pepperoni salami, onion, tomato, mozzarella, chilli flakes'. The pasta was unquestionably heavenly. It was creamy, had bacon bits (Yay!!) and more cream. It was appropriately spiced with herbs and had the perfect consistency. Not too thick, not too runny. Just perfect. The pizza was on the similar lines. Thin crust about 12" with 4 pepperoni slices per slice. The mozzerella cheese was in the right quantity and it looked (and tasted) like it was baked in a traditional clay oven as opposed to the regular gas ovens. Long story short, the food was nothing short of FANTASTIC. Also, since I had told the owner that I was celebrating my 2nd month wedding anniversary, they threw in a free dessert with a candle with a delicately decorated with 'CONGRATULATIONS' on the plate. Nice touch folks!

Damages:
Whoa! Where do I even begin!? 800 bucks for the spaghetti, and Rs 750 fr the pizza? I mean, REALLY? Agreed that this is an upscale fine dining Italian restaurant, but are the prices justified? I leave it to them to answer this. Each item in the drinks menu had a minimum of 4 digits on the right hand side. Bottles of wine (red and white) ran in 5 digits (are you kidding me!?). We ended up paying about 1800 bucks for a meal for 2 (just main course) including service charges joined in the menu.

You might not go to this place too often and is definitely a one-timer place (unless you have unjustified wads of cash lying around). Overall experience except for the first bit where they declined availability of the tables was great (just talking about the food ONLY). They really need to figure out if they are there to let people have the classic Italian dining experience or allow only people who 'look as if they fit in to the restaurant's class'.

p.s. Before heading there, make sure you have reservations
p.p.s. Make sure you are dressed and talk 'high society style'.
p.p.p.s Don't max out your credit card before coming here

p.p.p.p.s Even during exiting the restaurant at 10pm, there were a good 10 tables vacant.

Value for money???

Was yesterday evening the first time there for dinner. While the food was o.k. but not outstanding and pricy, the service can definitely improve.
Real extortion is charging 1.400 (!) INR for a glass of average Italian red wine, served from a bottle that was open for quite some time. I have concluded that Mumbai has much better places to go to.

Over rated and overpriced

Im afraid the restaurant couldnt live up to the initial hype. Overloaded saffron risotto almost bitter to which he couldnt add mushrooms since its precooked, now what kinda risotto is that? The roast chicken dry and unappetising. Place was totally empty at lunch today and it wasnt even raining. Not sure if I would go again for miniscule quantities of pretentious food at exhorbitant rates...

Outstanding Italian food

I've been to 212 several times since it opened, and this little jewel across Jewel of India is the real star in worli.
Every single thing (except the roast chicken) on the menu is outstanding.
The salads are massive, meal-sized portions, and extremely fresh. The Mushroom Cappucino is simply delicious without being drowned in cream like mushroom soups tend to be.
The pastas are richly flavoured without being Indianized, and the texture is perfectly al dente. I'm not a big steak fan but my friend had the Indian steak and loved it.
The star of the menu however has to be the Mushroom Strudel- you cannot miss this, even if you are a hardcore non-vegetarian. The filling is delicious and the pastry very fluffy. Pizzas are good, but not Indigo quality.
Finish the meal with the chocolate lava cake- bewarned- it's very rich.
The only thing that has ever been a miss is the roast chicken- it was undercooked and tasteless.
Service is mediocre, and the ambience outside is better than inside in my opinion.
Mains run at between 500-1000, so it isn't cheap, but the best Italian food in the city in my opinion.

Loved the food

I visited this place today for lunch and here's my review:

Decor: Very nice. Calm and pleasant. Very spacious.

Service: The staff was nice and courteous. However, they lack finesse. They do not know how to time the different courses. They do not clear tables before bringing in the next course. There was nobody at the podium when I reached and the bar-tender escorted me to my table. By escorted, I mean showed me a table and then walked away. I seated myself. I waited for about 5 minutes before I was given a menu and asked for water. For my appetizer it took almost 25-30 minutes but I assumed that it would take so long because it had to be baked. In a fine-dining restaurant I expect to be told of the wait time.

Food: Amazing! I had the Baked Camembert for my appetizer and the Mushroom Strudel for the main course. Both were perfectly made. The presentation was excellent and the taste was also good. In the strudel, I could taste the earthiness of the mushroom, which I just love. The strudel was perfectly baked. I could hear the melodious sound going through the crisp pasta (?).

So I paid 1595 for these two dishes and two sodas (Rs.100). I did not mind paying that at all. I just hope the service improves. It's not a complete experience without good service. If not for the service, I would have given this place a rating of 5.

No Idea about Food, but a Bad Experience otherwise.

Caution: We left after drinks and soup, so this is not a food commentary.

Having heard good things online from almost everyone, we decided to visit Two One Two Bar and Grill, opp Jewel of India, Worli.
The first thing you notice on approach is the outdoor seating which is out there, in the open, with no minimum fencing in terms of a little foliage, bamboo shoots, garden. It is open and faces the road, with a direct view of entry to Nehru Centre.
So we opt to sit inside, which is even worse. On entering, we are visited by a blank stare of the chef who checks our reservation and asks us to be seated at the bar . A snooty manager guides us to it.15cm below the restaurant area. You may view every single table in the space from here. It is an open plan on 3 levels. The crowd is a weird mix, awkward in the space. A while later, manager comes back and takes us to our table, minus smile, almost robotically.

Our table for two is pre-set up, as if to give no choice to sit where we want to. I would evaluate a "fine-dining" restaurant especially on the waiter pulling out a chair for the lady- instead they did pull it out for the gentleman.

The huge space has no visual barriers and is open to view for all. The interiors are stark, grey. Almost like post-war Germany, and the red accents only further this Nazi ambience. Lighting is non-specialised and does not help in any way. The large 12 seater table in one corner with tall red-upholstered chairs is again like a Nazi Last Supper Table, or so I felt.

The highlight- was the service- The Bad service. Receiving menus 10 minutes post-seating. A mumbling waiter who did not know what was on menu. As we waited for drinks, the restaurant had a mini event as the waiter tipped on its many unnecessary steps and made a pizza fall all over the floor. My first sighting of such a kind. It was cleaned immediately , as the manager snootily breathed out the 212 degrees Fahrenheit steam, but was not bothered enough to warn passing by guests not to step over the poor pizza!

The drinks were watered down. We ordered the Mushroom cappuccino and 20 minutes post order, our waiter mumbled that the kitchen is jumbled(exact words) and the soup will take time. We notified him not to bother getting it and instead get the cheque.

In a moment, the soup magically arrived and was complimentary ! The jumbled up kitchen had managed to straighten and even serve a soup.

Anyways, we thought it best not to sample more clumsiness and even a Milanese chef and his food cannot salvage a hurried up opening with bad design and untrained service.

I do not remember the last time, when an overall vibe of a place was so repulsive and the experience so bad.

They could've got their act together before opening up this embarrassment to the public.

The food just maybe good, but this may be the first time, I am actually letting the Ambience and Service take priority, because they are extremely incompetent. Snooty and Stark but far from Sophisticated.

Personally, an upholstered concentration camp interior, fit for a War Museum with Snooty Generals. And in such a space, even if the food is good, I'd rather not stay!

The damage: Rs. 8151 for 3 (Rs. 3531 excluding alcohol)

Fantastic ambiance - really - this place is an oasis in the middle of Worli. We took advantage of the cool weather and sat outside on a high table under a white umbrella-like canopy - surrounded by plants listening to a soothing waterfall-like sound.

We were quite intrigued by the mushroom cappuccino with truffle oil (Rs. 380) - as far as mushrooms soups go this was great - and very cappuccino looking with foam at the top and everything. Next we tried the Saffron Risotto (Rs.635) - the saffron was quite muted and with the cheesy overload and yellow color it mildly resembled an upscale version of Mac n cheese. We moved on then to a Yellowfin tuna steak (Rs. 790) from the grill menu. I absolutely loved it for retaining that natural flavor, only lightly seared, still pink in the middle - but it may be 'too fishy' for an irregular seafood eater. I've been scoping out gourmet pizzas around the city and we had to sample the thin crust 'Boscaiola' (Italian for a dish featuring mushroom) (Rs. 620) – the mushrooms were again perhaps too 'mushroomy' for everyone. The raspberry cheesecake (Rs. 335) blew our minds.

Just a singular word of caution perhaps - the portions are tiny - not tiny, minuscule - really just a one-person portion and just a taster at that.

I have a feeling this place isn't for everyone - and this isn't just the 2 bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon talking - but it is definitely for me

Go for Drinks

They have a very nice alfresco area perfect which is for drinks. But wasn't cool enough that day so decided to sit inside. Please make a reservation and go because even on weekday they are fully booked. They have two slots 8:30 and 10:30. You can try your luck and just walk in as we did but then the table is small and doesn't fit everything on it.

Food: The bread basket had a nice assortment of bread with some nice dips. Unfortunately there aren't too many options for veggies so finally just settled for a Margherita pizza and pasta in pesto. Good but nothing very exciting.

Drinks: From a very extensive martini menu finally chose the pomegranate martini. Was really nice and went down really smooth.

Service: The place was empty when we went so was pretty quick but the waiter just seemed a tad condescending.

Damages: Rs 2000 for 2 mains and 2 drinks

Its a great place for drinks but rather go somewhere with more options for dinner.

Superb Food, Great Ambiance BUT Pathetic Service

So... Two One Two is a place that serves the best Italian food in town (yes, better than Olive, Tote, Indigo, Prato, Stella, Celini, etc), charges you a bomb but treats you like sh*t.

Yeah, they are arrogant.Very arrogant. For a fine dining restaurant in a competitive service industry, they are lacking in "customer service". I have been there twice, both times the food was to die for, the place was brilliant & comfortable but the lower order wait staff was rude, heavy handed and full of themselves. Though, the guy who runs the place was nice and helpful, his waiters weren't. Leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth, despite the yummy food.

If you do end up here, definitely have a couple of pizzas and the Indian beef steak (the Kobe steak is way too expensive and not worth it).

In terms of cost, a 3-course meal with 1-2 drinks each was about four grand per couple including local taxes and a mandatory 10% service charge. Yeah mandatory. I hate that.

So, despite the good stuff I have no choice but to rate 212 with 1/5 stars because one expects excellent service from a place like this... which didn't happen.

Top class

Good steaks for Mumbai but the best is the Camembert cheese starter and bolognese is superb. The biggest problem is with the reservation system. They always say they are full and when we go it's not. If this was sorted out I guess I would go a lot more

Super Ambience, Substandard Food

Reserved a table for 10.30pm on a weeknight for dinner at Two One Two, Worli. Reached right on time. While I got out of my car, the dark stairs coupled with the plants at the entrance, invited me onto the porch of the restaurant. As I entered the restaurant, I was swiftly seated at table number 21. The wood paneled interiors were very classy and elegant, very easy on my eyes indeed. The bar area seemed large and spacious, unfortunately cannot comment on how well stocked it was as I am a teetotaler. Seating was distant and well spaced out, gives a good amount of privacy too, very important for me as I am totally disinterested in the neighbouring tables conversation. Chairs and tables were very comfortable and primed me for a superb meal. Music played in the background was quite poor, but most importantly for a fine dining restaurant it was way too loud.

Now to the food. Ordered two starters. ‘Parma Ham Melon’, juicy fresh melon chunks topped with beautiful subtly spiced smooth Parma ham, finished off with a few herbs; a true gastronomic delight; served with pickled diced tomatoes, complemented the melon and ham wonderfully; a must have at Two One Two. My second starter was ‘Calamari’; the menu card read breaded calamari but I was served batter fried calamari; the batter was salty, squids should have been tenderized before frying; served with tartar sauce, probably the best one I have ever had, the slightly sour taste was just perfect; overall a disappointing appetiser. Ordered three main course items. ‘Penne Aglio E Prawns’, is not available on the menu card was customised to my requirements; optimally cooked penne pasta in an Indianised herby white sauce; could do with more prawns; excellent preparation. ‘Holland Pork Chops’, in one word – substandard; the meat was tough, wet rub applied while grilling was a huge letdown; accompanying potato wedges were so much better; I am confident Two One Two can improve upon this God-forsaken grilled entrée. Behaving like a complete imbecile asked for one more grilled entrée, ‘Tenderloin Steak Rossin’, was horrifying to say the least; I asked for well-done steak but it was kind of raw, very dry on the palate too; the accompanying barbeque sauce had a peculiar astringent taste to it; steak served with generously buttered and spiced mashed potatoes, which left me spellbound.

Two One Two’s ambience is very chic, laid back, calm and comforting. Service needs to be more attentive, the staff tends to run to check with the chef when asked about a clarification. The food is disappointing, has to and surely can be much better. Their grilled entrée’s were a total disaster. Price wise it’s not worth it when you factor in the below average taste of many items I had, ‘Parma Ham Melon’ – Rs. 520, ‘Penne Aglio E Prawns’ – Rs. 640, ‘Tenderloin Steak Rossin’ – Rs. 1100. In a restaurant, food has to be the most important, since it’s off the mark, two stars from me.

Superb, Outstanding Food !

My second visit here in a month -

Pizza Verdure - pizza with grilled veggies - superb, unusual and healthy !

Veg Ravioli - Superb again

Veg lasagna - Excellent !

Tiramisu - The best I have had in Mumbai ----- superb , though I wish it was chilled when served ......tell them before hand to chill it if you plan to have it !

Service could have been better. The waiter taking our order did not seem to know much or be able to recommend stuff - which you would expect in an expensive place as this.

Dishes range from 500-1000 per dish ( veg)

All in all superlative food ......I am surely going to go here often !

a great find!

I love trying out new restaurant... but more often than not, I return disappointed but some aspect of the experience... and with a 90% failure rate of restaurants in Mumbai (i read this somewhere) im not surprised...

however, two one two was far for disappointing- and infact im sure to be returning here many more times...

Location - easily accessible from Annie Besant Road and yet away from the main road so that traffic noise doesnt kill the ambience... feedback to the owners- the music started off as gentle but at some point the volume was increased to a slightly uncomfortable level...
Service - very hospitable! when we arrived unannounced we were informed there were no tables available- but they were more than agreeable to join 2 bar tables if we were ok with it... it was a week night and the place was soon packed- and the place is a 90-100 seater!! (i know coz i so fell in love with the place that I had to ask the manager if they booked the place for private parties)... the rest of the evening was pleasurable- with just the right amount of being fussed over without it getting in your face

Food - it all boils down to the food for me, so here goes. Bread basket + basil olive oil dip + olive tapendae + butter = great small eats for hungry ppl dropping in after work! only disappointing part was the waiter telling us that the 2nd bread basket we asked for (as we waited for some ppl to join)was chargable... seemed a little petty for a place that charges 700-800 per dish... I ordered the scottish salmon. It had an olive oil foam on it and it was awesome! Other orders- Lamb chops - brilliant (I dont eat much red meat but this was too good to miss), veg lasagne - as good as veg food gets :-), pepperoni pizza - the base wasn't great but the topping were of the best possible quality, some steak - i'm told it was great, I didnt try it coz I was too full...
Drinks- Sangria (almost perfect- the orange pieces were chewy and rindy), a mix of cocktails... all very good and customized to our tastes...

I was in a hurry so we skipped dessert- which is a decision that i rue... but I guess thats a good excuse as any to go back :-)

Great food but Overpriced

Lovely ambience, very friendly owners.

The food seems predominantly italian and grills.

Had the buffalo mozzerela and tomato salad which was very good.
The Porcini mushroom risotto also was delicious - creamy and heavy but delish - but overpriced at almost 700 and portion size small !
Panacotta trilogy for dessert was superb.

The service could have been better.....water glasses were not refilled, and once initial orders were delivered to us, the waiters did not seem to come for any follow ups.

All in a all a great place, classy crowd and ambience. If I did not find some items overpriced I would have gone with 5 stars.

Fantastic! Must Try but bring your moolah

Ambience - A+
Food - A++
Service - A+

Great place with an even better wine list and deserts...It's classy and chic yet not overbearing. The staff is extremely friendly and take personal care, it definitely does not hurt to know the owner or chef, Alex! The T-bone steaks are to die for (make sure you call in advance to know they're not out of them - yes, they do import them fresh from NZ)...and the pizzas are made to perfection. Make sure you leave room for desert. My recommendation is chocolate fondant and cheesecake...
Overall, a great little hidden treasure!

Great Food, Nice Ambience

Was pleasantly surprised at the dining experience at this newly opened place.
Went in for an early lunch and found staff still settling the place but they all seemed very accommodating and made us feel comfortable right away.
One of the main chefs Mikhail personally came out and guided us through the very extensive menu.
Let me state that this place does not come cheap but after giving this feedback to the chef, was informed that since the ingredients are mostly all imported and top of the line, the pricing would certainly be justifiable. Was told to get first hand experience from the food itself.
So decided to venture into a Camembert cheese starter with salad and accompaniments and wow, was it something! Could perceive the difference of the ingredients right away. The cheese was done just right and the presentation too was very good. Portions too seemed very adequate for two to share. After that went in for the recommended Pizza's. Had a combo of two, one with the parma ham and goats cheese (base a bit maida-ish) and the other with a 4 cheese topping and spiced pepperoni which was excellent.
As we didn't have space for more food, decided to come again for trying out the main course dishes and the grills but couldn't leave without having a go at the dessert. It was an excellent chocolate fondant with ice cream. Also received a surprise sampling of the pannacotta with three different toppings. Another superb dessert.
Left extremely satiated with a promise to return soon.

This place is highly recommended but please don't expect it to come cheap. As an observation a far better option over the villa on the other side of town. Also, the place is very well done and laid out and gives a nice open feeling instead of the other cramped restaurants. Plans for an open air cafe outside are also afoot.
All in all a huge thumbs up for 212. We're going back for sure.

Gourmet Chic!

Two One Two, the new Italian hottie to hit town is ambitious and is ready to charm her way around! This new elite ristorante has replaced Magick and propels you to loosen your purse strings to experience something unique. There is a lot going on here with chic dining tables, a 12-seater private area, an all-day al fresco cafe with a show-kitchen and a two-way bar which opens to diners seated outdoors as well. A small stage and an impressive wine rack add to the charm of the spacious restaurant. Before you can take all this in, you are made comfortable on the romantically lit tables adorned with modern cutlery.

The variety of food seems limited, but one can make special requests for dishes off the menu. Complementary breads are served with yummy pesto, olive tapenade and butter. The Mushroom Cappucino was well-presented. The Pizza Verdure was authentic and fresh but was not very flavourful all the same. The Roast Chicken with Rosemary Jus was well-cooked, but rather under-seasoned for our palate. Finally the Scottish Salmon Steak topped with emulsion was perfect and had an amazing flavour to it, accompanied by tasty potatoes and grilled vegetables. The Two One Two Tiramisu is one of the best we've ever sampled; the Raspberry Cheesecake, Panacotta and Chocolate Fondant with the Pistachio Cigar are delightful! Also try the grills, their specialty.

A few service issues aside, it is a nice to have the chef come to every table and hear out your comments. The prices are definitely on the higher side and their food might not suit everyone's taste. But for those of you who wish to try gourmet food and dine in style, Two One Two is probably your best bet!
