We had tempura shrimps done to perfection together with crabmeat which was spicy and well presented. The Thai shrimp curry was fresh and very tasty. The chocolate dessert was one of the best that I have had. The cuisine is Pan Asian with a focus on Thai food and sauces, locate din Churchgate and Mumbai. The khowsuey is the best in Mumbai and will leave you asking for seconds. The napa valley sushi roll is quite good as well.

Umame

Umame serves pan asian food. The khow suey here is to die for and they serve amazing sushi.Overall the food here is brilliant. It is a quiet place. Appropriate for a formal occasions. The food is a little pricey but worth coming for the delicious food. Though I wouldn't recommend their desserts. The staff is quite helpful and prompt.

quite brilliant and quite different

Everything at this Asian restaurant is different and yes, slightly expensive. The place primarily serves Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Singaporean cuisine

The food was quite brilliant and quite different. . Service is good but quite slow. Overall would come back again for the amazing food but would not be a regular cos of the price.

Excellent Food n Service

They offer an exhaustive lunch buffet from Mon - Sat...

Staff is very polite and courteous.. also very prompt in their service..

Food is excellent in taste...in particular the Burmese Khausuey... Thai Curry... Water chestnut corn and honey chilly drip appetizer... and the exotic chocolate lava cake is a must-try...

overall a very good experience....

Third time unlucky

This is the third time I'm dining here. Went for dinner a couple of days ago. It was a Monday night and the place was maybe 30 % occupied so got a table immediately.

General service, starters and Sushi were fantastic as always.

They messed up the main course horribly. Asked for one dish and got another. Mistakes happen, no problem. The problem is when the captain who took our order refused to admit the mistake. Didn't want to make a scene and so we let it slide. Did not eat the offending, since apart from being wrong it tasted horrible. In a place with such high pretensions and prices, I really expected more courtesy.

The other food was passable at best. The standard has dropped very fast. That's fine by me....won't be visiting here ever again. There are enough places for one to visit with far less pretensions, far more courtesy and much better food that's reasonably priced.

2 thumbs UP!!!!!!!

I recently visited this restaurant. On entering the restaurant I was promptly greeted by courteous staff. Shown to a nice table and quickly provided with my order of beverage. The menu is rich and varied and the waiting staff very knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions. The food was very well prepared, well presented and generous in portion. I will certainly be returning.

Absolutely Fantastic

Went down with couple of buddies of mine for a grub....and absolutely wowed by the food, fresh, delicious, and lip smacking good. Umame being the fifth taste but the food entertained all my five senses.....kudos to the staff as well. If I would visit again, well it would be rhetorical cos its a no brainer BIG YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Superlative!

The complete dining experience. I'd put it on par with the best five star eateries in the city. The food and service are extraordinary. Prices mentioned on burrp are on the lower side though, would be about Rs.8000 per couple if you had a three course meal without alcohol. The Grand Marnier Souffle was exceptional, as good as any I've had here or abroad.

Went with great expectations since its a off spring of the famous JOSS! Should say the starters were great ! The waiters were good ! But then it was mess by the time we get the main course .... Ordered a veg khau swey ! N it smelt of sea food ! Instead of listening to us MR vikas the manager kept on arguing that it was not possible ! This behaviour is something not expected from somebody from the hospitality industry... That to with the lineage of joss.

Highly overated - substandard food and service!

I went after hearing good reviews but found the place highly over rated. Very very ordinary food which felt like it was cooked hours ago and pathetic service.
Soup and starters felt stale. For mains I had ordered Kung Pao Tofu but when the waiter got the order he said it was Mapo Tofu. When I pointed out that I had not ordered this dish, he went back to his captain and came saying this was actually Kungpao Tofu. Both the dishes are completely different. Mapo is red and very saucy whereas Kung pao is more blackish and dry. I called the manager and pointed out this to him but he refused to listen and said this is how we prepare Kung pao tofu. Just because they didn't want to bother changing the dish they were trying to pass off one dish for another.
Overall the place is also very noisy and highly overpriced for the quality of food they serve. If Mr. Khambata does not lift up his service and food standards expect this place also to become a banquet venue like Amadeus. Never going back.

Great ambience and food, Service needs improvement

Had a great sushi experience. The miso soup was well made. The menu selection is well done. The service was prompt and courteous. The only suggestion would be to educate all the waiters regarding the menu items. Currently, only a few are well educated about the menu and the preparations. Overall, recommended if you were a fan of Joss and if you are in the area.

Wow Soey

I love coming here only because of the Khao Soey - the restaurant as a whole is obnoxious and very expensive (average meal for two with alcohol is Rs. 2000/-) but the food is yum.

I've tried random starters (both veg and non veg) and they have always been good. Some are delicious... some are good. Their cocktails are also quite good.

THE highlight of my meal however, is always the Khao Soey - perfect... finger-licking good :) I used to frequent Joss for the same reason and was heartbroken when it closed and I couldn't find the perfect replacement.

The staff is snooty, the ambience is good, music is average. You have to have a reservation even if the whole restaurant is empty.

All in all go for the Wow Soey :)

Horrible experience

We went there at 8.pm and although the place was empty the rude receptionist said we are full . To make matters worse we were threatened by a waiter Gopal . When we said this would appear on social media the attitude suddenly changed and a table was available . Needless to say we did not eat there .

Valet returned my Merc, banged up!

While the food was excellent, the valet returned my Merc banged up. Didn't take responsibility, blamed me for it, the owner Farrok Khambata stood there saying 'oh it happens' and didn't even apologise for their rude behaviour. All this after we paid a 23k bill! Ruined our whole experience!

Went with hope and was dissappointed

Went there with great hopes thinking that Joss was so great. It is a huge place and ambience is good. there is elegance flowing out there. But the food was what I went for.
Order the sushi and dimsums but found the sushi very disappointing. It did not taste fresh at all. It was as it was kept in the fridge and then served.
the Tangy mocktail the burnt garlic vegetable soup were fairly good, and the stuffed bun was nice. but I went for sushi and that did not come anywhere close to what i have eaten in other places in this city.
