Village - The Soul of India Reviews

Awesome hangout place

I had come here for a friend's engagement party. I was awestruck at the ambience. It's simply beautiful. It has got that old world charm+the feeling of being in the interiors of India. I was so impressed with the food, I came back with a bunch of friends to hang out the very next day. For 300 bucks it's a steal! The variety is great and once you are done with this place you'll want to go to sleep on the table coz you'll be so full. WOnderful memories related to this place. Love it!

Lovely Food & Reasonable Prices

I had heard about this place a lot from my friends, finally got time last Saturday to go there. The place is really cool with frescos on the walls and traditional crockery. The food is very good and it’s cooked fresh right in front of you.

I liked it.

I'd been there for dinner (twice). Liked the concept. Good ambiance, variety of food, high quality food, good service, good theme. Little over priced but definately value for money. i have complaints in recent changes though, ie they dont have sugercane juice anymore, change in seating arrangements which makes it feel like any other resto.

Overall a nice exp. Would recommend it to others. Just waiting for them to come up with a deal on some deal website to enjoy the food there at a lower cost.

Supremely Awful

The question is, is it worth 300 bucks??? AC not working, so called live-performance...for 5 mins, no live DJ, sub standard food, the ice-gola wala asking me,"abhi toh khaya saab, ek aur chahiye??" i mean what the Hell!!!
i went today, 29th of May 2011 to celebrate my success...i never had such a FLOP success party. i clearly in my all senses want u to think THRICE before visiting this place. i will make sure none of my close ones go thru what i went thru today!!!!

ok ok

the food was ok, ambience was good
closes too soon by 11pm u need atleast 2 hrs to spend time over there.

but if u planning to stay till the end, then get ready for the rude behaviour!!

Great place to hang out... but..

I went to the Village today with my family and they really liked the place. Great ambiance, very friendly staff but...

The food was a let down. The dishes were just okay overall. I have also visited The Village outlet in Kandivali and found it much better than the one in Thane. Overall, great place to visit if you want to hang out with your group and not a place to visit just for the food. I really hope they improve their food.

But despite that, I am giving it a 4 star rating because of the experience. The treatment which we got from the staff made us feel very good. My family enjoyed the time we spent in there and were talking about it all day. Thats what matters to me.

a fun place with so-so food

Chaats, south indian food, pakoras, desserts & some of the marvaadi cuisine were good. Rest of the cusines were not upto the mark.

Ambience is very nice with proper rajasthan style village look. Pottery, puppet shows, mehndi, astrologer, folk singers, kacchi ghodi dance show is a fun to watch.

I suggest it for a 1 time visit in large group with atleast 3 hrs in your hand to enjoy to the max. Costs 300 on a weekday per head.

village food at urban prices!!!

I am really confused whether to give it a 2 star or a 3 star....the place serves gujarathi, punjabi and rajasthani fare...Dal batti churma, pav bhaji ...rose water and chhas carrying waiters.....all unlimited..The price per person is around 250 Rs which is okay. But then you need to starve yourself and then visit this place...You may feel that you have ended up eating only normal punjabi fare and nothing oh-so special stuff..

I would suggest that you need to be in the mood to savour the little things like chaat,dhokla...The variety is huge and mouth watering..The food standard is not comparable as it is nothing great......
All in all a good place after a movie or with kids what with dance performances and songs...
