Great place to hang out with friends as well as family....They have both indoor and outdoor seating and both giving two wholly different places to be at , at the same time one place!! The ambience is unique, the food is pretty good....Their stuffed tandoori mushrooms and tandoori prawns are just amazing.... Really nice place to go out with friends.
Fish Curry Rice (FCR)
First i was amaze that a sea food restaurants is available in Pune. I came to know about FCR through my friend who is a local guy from Pune. It is not that tipical sea food restaurant infact the food served here has its own teast and actualy gets the the teast of local goan and karvar. Very importantly the quality of the fish and it is so fresh. I would really appreciate its 100% hygiene and its cleanliness of a restaurtant. I would love to visit this place again and again. Thanx FCR.
Rude staff, Don't care about customer
Saturday, Feb 02, 2013 3:30 PM, I went to this place for lunch, the place was almost empty. when I asked for a place for two, their guy showed me a table right at the door with only two people to adjust. Since the place was almost empty I asked to sit on the next table but that guy refused straight away rudely. and when I told him that I will not eat there and will leave he was fine with that. perhaps loosing just two customer doesn't matter to them on Saturday afternoon So I will give them zero for customer service

You must have been to many restaurants and pubs. But this is one of those that you have to have visited if you're a Pune-ite. The garden is purely a restaurant while the inner section is a pub-cum-restaurant. The ambiance is totally non-stuffy and you can easily hang out with friends or have a dinner out with family here.
The Barman's Pitcher of T-Oaks is a drinker's fave, and even the cocktails on offer here are good. The food is also good, if not completely awesome. Something I personally love is the french fries with dip to go with your drinks.
If you ever doubted whether regular Indian cuisine could fit in today's swanky lounges / watering holes without french-ifying it or twisting it around, 1000 Oaks is an assurance that fans on the cuisine need not worry. It was packed to the brim with hip youngsters who had no problem sipping on their Blanc with Chicken Tikka to munch on. The menu here is pre-dominantly Indian with the odd continental salad no one really bothers with.
Wine, was of course a metaphor, for, this place is known for it's insane drink - The Barman's Special, which just happens to be a combination of beer, whiskey, white rum, gin, vodka, soda and a flavour of your choice. We went with Green Apple. Even though the drink's not too strong, trust me, you don't want to be behind the wheel after you've knocked down few glasses of that concoction.
For starters, and we had plenty of those, we started off with Murg Hariyaali Tikka & Chilly Chicken. The Hariyaali Tikkas were succulent and well marinated with green chutney. The Chicken chilly wasn't that hideous Indian-Chinese dish, but a smart desi take prepared with Indian spices, green chillies and onions. Next came in Murg Banjaara Kebab, BBQ Chicken Wings and a stunning stuffed naan, Paneer Naanza. The Banjaara kebab here is white as opposed to green as it is everywhere else, but had the spicy bite to it. The BBQ Chicken Wings, marinated with tandoori masala, were delicious. But the pièce de resistance was the Paneer Naanza. Hot, buttery, garlicky, stuffed with soft cottage cheese and served with a yummy sweetish mayonnaise, it was the perfect accompaniment for a cool Thursday night drink-up.
For mains, we looked no further than the dish this place is really popular for: Chicken Tikka Makhanwala. When you tend to have so much of one meat, it does indeed tend to get a bit much, company wasn't for mutton or sea-food, though, I've reliably learnt that the sea-food here is pretty awesome as well. But with no anti-chicken feelings at all, we polished it off with some garlic naans. The desserts menu here was tempting and we went for the Khubani ka Meetha, Apricot Halwa, more like a pulp served with vanilla ice-cream. Here, you can also have the Khubani by itself or with cream. Perfect ending to a perfect meal.
There are two seating options: open-air, superb option for a wintery evening and a lounge - DJ belting out rock hits from over the years. The service is quick and efficient and food portions, standard i.e. 8 pcs. of tikkas per portion and so on. What's noticeable is that no one's in a hurry to throw you out quickly because of the wait-list and that's a refreshing change from other restaurants that can't wait to serve you, have you pay-up and out you go..that would've been the ultimate kill-joy for a place like this. But, there's God after all & we've got to thank Him and the guys behind 1000 Oaks.
The guys who introduced Pune to the Barman's Pitcher. A cocktail of all alcoholic beverges under the sun, topped of with a beer. a pitcher for Rs. 550( last I went) is definitely worth it. Good crowd, decent music and fine food. GO for the Reshmi kebab and you will not be dissapointed. The place does tend to get a bit congested on weekendss, especially the bar area, but for familes and large groups they have a section outside. On weekends , they have a cover of Rs. 500 which is well worth it. The only problem is the tiny washroom, which 9/10 times has a long queue outside.
Tip: keep check of the number of Pitchers you have. They dont hit you very early, but when they do. I warned you. :)
GO FOR BARMAN'S PITCHER !!
We just ordered barman's pitcher, more like of as a fluke's guess...and it turned out to be the best thing we had that evening. We were down with 6 pitcher's in the end, and that's a huge amount seeing the capacity of four people, including 2 girls.
Well, girl's liked the pink color more of the drink and the extra lime and salt icing around the glass added to the taste. LOVED IT !!!
Ambience...cool and smooth.
Staff...friendly, helpful and cooperative.
5/5 for this super place.
Good place to hang out
a very nice place to hang out with frnds, good music , although loud but still u will enjoy it, good cocktails , resonable in pricing, now regarding food chicken wings are good mushrooms are ok ok but need to work on chilly chicken taste, other than lounge area seats are not comfortable. However In the end i rate as 3 out of 5 and would like to visit again.
Nice place to chill
1000 oaks is a wonderful place to spend evening with ur loved ones.
It has two sitting areas, Outdoor and lounge.
We sat in lounge area where the ambience is very nice.. Seating is nice n simple with sofa and cushioned chairs..
Music played was very good.. nice soundtracks were played by the in house DJ.
And now finally.. drinks and food.. cocktails were very nicely made and beer pitcher was reasonably priced..
Food was simply amazing !! Be it chicken angara or stuffed tandoori mushroom or even simple masala papad...
And thumbs up top service.. Waiters are quite knowledgable and polite..
It was a nice evening at 1000 oaks.. Will surely go bak
The management - needs lessons in mgmt
Sad but true. We'd booked a table one hour earlier - we got the reservation made. When we reached there, the person who'd answered the call was missing. When we went in - we were told "we dont make reservations" - how fantastic!?.. Pune is getting smarter. You guys are not the stars anymore. Get goin with the competition else T-oaks wont remain a popular choice - as it once upon a time used to be. Sad but true.
Saddest food I ever had .
Went to dis place last evening with a hope of having gud Indian food but everything was just worst.
Started with Masala papad, which was red in color as it was full of chili powder, den tried my luck with cottage cheese starter , it was a mixture of water + cottage cheese+ few pieces of capsicum + lots of chili powder. By dis time I drank more than 7 glasses of water.
With a little courage left I placed d main course order, n dis was my worst decision.
Thought of trying something common, bhendi (ladies finger) masala. To make it more awful, ladies finger was completely dried out d inner seeds had become so hard dat it was very difficult to chew.
Had to face tuff time d entire night n dis morning because of heavy chili powder .:(
I wont recommend dis place for Indian food
awesomeee is the word!!
Absolutely fab place for those who love music n booze..i mean who doesn't??
Pitchers are the perfect way to start in there while the ambiance with the music will sink you in the momentum to be there..i luv the cheese cherry PA and not to forget the Long Island..as i said..awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
The Barman's Pitcher
Are you looking for great comfort food while listening to great comfort (read: rock / retro) music in a great ambiance (read: english tudor pub / outdoor garden) ?
1000 Oaks or T-Oaks as it's more popularly known, has long been THE place to go for a great place to chill in the evenings.
Please note - if you do take the decision to goto T-Oaks, and then NOT have the Barman's pitcher, it's downright sacrilege!
Amongst the pro's:-
1. THE FAMOUS BARMAN's PITCHER!
A beer based (it has other stuff in it!) pitcher of pure awesomeness!
Comes in 4 flavours:-
1. Classic (rose) - the best!
2. Green Apple - the second best.
3. Peach - meh
4. Blue - double meh
This is a MUST try.
2. GREAT FOOD!
Seriously - no gripes here!
3. GREAT MUSIC!
Awesome music (rock - predominantly classic). I believe that Tuesday is Retro nights, so be prepared to do the Y M C A!
4. WEAR WHAT YOU WANT!
Shorts, PJ's, Suited up, Suited down, Party - it all goes! I've never seen a more chilled out place than this.
5. The COASTERS!
Every one is a collectible!
If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm a fanboy!
Besides the fact that weekends its a bit packed and the waiters seem to be spread thin. But what else would you expect of the most awesome pub in town?
A Regular English Pub
Love the place. Having lived in Manchester(UK) for a long time, I really liked this join. Gr8 Music. Food tastes well...but the whole ambiance is brilliant. Very crowded though; but what popular place isn't? I never sat outside ; but I bet its good in Spring & Autumn when the weather is crisp.
Nice place to unwind:)
It looks like a vintage house that has been influenced by the European culture. It has been done very elegantly. The wooden arch doors, black and white framed pictures of Bob Marley,Jim Morrison, the exotic lights make this place visually even more appealing.
They have four sections in total. One outdoor and three located indoors. They have humongous white chairs laid down in the front. Looks like an excellent place for brunch provided the weather is good. It gives you an excellent laid back atmosphere, where you can sit for hours and ease yourself. The only gripe about the place would be the seating arrangement. The middle section is divided into left side and the right side, with sofas that dot the corners of the wall ,whitlst the other side opposite the sofa has small button like seats, more like those huge animated chess characters, these seatings have no back support, thus it people don't prefer sitting here never the less, it looks excellent to the eye.
This place is surely expensive. We'd ordered the Hara Bhara Kebab to go with our drinks. It was strictly okayish. I din't like the flavour the kebab was giving out, because the oil had a strange odour. The cocktail seemed amateurly prepared, with the bartender perhaps being clueless on how it's to be made,on the other hand nothing can possibly go wrong with a Kingfisher beer bottle.
The damages for the above - Rs 590!
Surely pricy, but it's justified for the ambiance.
Will I visit again? Yes surely,If I am around, not for the food/drinks but for the lovely ambiance.
PS:The elegant decor of this place deserves the brownie points!
Good place to unwind
This place has been there for quite a while now. Had been there recently. The crowd mainly consists of youngsters. The bar menu is really good. Had had the the Barmen s pitcher. We had 6 pitchers amongst 2 of us. The music is good (retro). The service was not too bad since we were sitting at the bar. The food what we had was finger chips.
Excellent place to unwind.
is the place to party
i love this place so much that every time anyone ask me place to party my first suggestion to him/her is 1000 0ks .awesome place ,awesome ambiance, most convenient place bze it,s mg road, lot of car parking place.
most important thing is ,they have loud music and their special drink "barmans pitcher " with finger fries or chicken is mind blowing .
Barman's pitcher, tikka and fries...2 thumbs up!!!
EXCELLENT Place with EXCELLENT Service and wonderful staff. Kind, courteous and always with a smile willing to help and serve and ensure you are taken care of.
Once a place for ice-creams in the South-of-France like Pune weather converted to a dining and pubbing place to hang out.
Specializes in French fries with trademark white sauce, excellent tikka finger food and yummy snacks.
Must try the Barman's pitcher and finish up with a seat in the dining areas to have the Butter Chicken and Naan Basket.
The place has 3 sections.
The seating outside which generally needs 24 hours prior notice to book. Drinks and food serving time depends on the order and complexity of food ordered.
Best during the dry seasons and during winters; may be avoided during the monsoon since the insect menace is more apparent at the time.
Again, book in advance since this is in HIGH demand.
Can seat about 120 - 150 at a time or more (depends on the seating and serving arrangements)
Average serving time from the time of placing the order is 15-25 mins.
The next section past the doors is midway to the bar and pub area and has 4 tables which can seat 5 people per table comfortably. Again seating arrangements may be made to fit in more.
Dinner may be served ONLY in the afore mentioned sections and is NOT served in the next section.
The last but not the least section is the bar and pub section which can seat a max of 150 people comfortably and again with seats and furniture moved can seat more.
Fantastic music if you're a retro rock fan and a great place to go when on DECEMBER 8TH - Dedicated Jim Morrison and John Lennon tributes are in force with the likes of Live! performances by Gary Lawyer and other Indian Rock Idols recounting days gone by.
Great ambience and the smoking ban has cleared up a lot of the air making it a very comfortable place to kick back and chill out.
Inside the pub, like any other, it's designed for a boisterous feel so the music's loud and you'll generally find a red-faced crowd singing along to all kinds of music played.
True pub-culture uncut and like a crossover between an average college bar in the from the midwest and a bar in London.
Average Serving Time is 10 - 15 mins for snacks and drinks are almost instant
Management is always present to ensure that all is well and the owner deserves 7 STARS for making sure his staff, crew and most importantly customers are well taken care of.
I have been there over 7 years now and my bill has always been 100% correct. AMAZING!!!
One of the last bastions of remaining old Pune culture left.
Thousand Oaks Rocks!!! Keep it up!!!
pune remains close to my heart cos when i got out of home, it was this city that i came to...
besides being a regular student; of course, our aim was also to explore different places in and around pune so we could chose a favorite ;-)
and non other than 1000 oaks would appeal as much!!
one of the first few nice places that we had in pune....and is still a favorite of many!!
be it casual weekends or karaoke nights.. simply awesome!!!!!
be it couples or a gang or even families - it is unlimited and guaranteed fun!!!!
sexy ambience and colorful enough to not let you be down for long :-)
simply the best!!!! has bin, and will always be...close to the heart :-)
10pm and my friends still wanted to talk and hear music. next stop is 1000 oaks.
at the gate entrance u can see families and people in groups-fine dining..
but once u get inside the hall..the music is good and the crowd is nice.
the Dj plays opposite to the bar..spacious enough to sit and chill with your friends..
waiters are nice and quick in delivering orders :)
One of the best Hanguouts in Pune
Thousand Oaks is an awesome hangout ! There are very few places like this in pune that let you get your hair down on a weekend . The interiors rock...I love the semi lit ambience. Another favourite and a must try out here is the Barman's Pitcher which is pitcher full of every possible liquor combination. Also not to be missed are the French fries with Tartar Sauce (which is the best tartar sauce i've ever had). The DJ on the weekends is pretty cool too , dishing out some of the best classics and alternative numbers. In All ..this is one hell of a place and totally worth every Penny.
Having gone there for lunch a year or two back, i would def. vouch for their excellent food & choc mousse.
Their black Dal was excellent from what i recall.
At lunch time a 10% discount was given which was like icing on the cake
Went at night for drinks & the relaxed, chilled out atmosphere at this old age bungalow converted into restaurant was a pleasant change from your smoky, cluttered & claustrophobic atmosphere at most places these days.
excellent sports bar, sad service
1000 Oaks has an awesome sports bar ambiance. It also has an outside sitting apart from the inner bar area.
I was there to watch the India-Australia semifinal (twenty-20 world cup). The place was packed but we managed a place to sit since we went there really early. They have a decent sized wall hung tv on top of the bar where you can enjoy the sport.
The food is great as well. I would surely recommend the paneer tikka and the paneer chilly...extremely delicious and very well done. (Priced at Rs. 130 each). Kingfisher pints and bottles are prices at Rs 100 and Rs 180 respectively.
The only spoiler in the entire experience was the service, specially from guys who take and manage orders. They wont let you sit for a minute without eating or ordering. So dont be surprised if you are handed over the bill while you are thinking what to order next.
They shut down at 11.30 pm. No cover charges.
