Private Party? This is ur place!

I was looking for a place for a private party (my birthday party with my friends) with a set budget for around 10 ppl and I finalised 11th east street cafe. Went to this place through HungryTable.in and aavailed some amazing discounts for myself!

Ambiance : The ambiance of the place is beautiful. It is on the theme like a London Street. The restaurant is divided into 2 areas, on 2 floors. Both the areas give a different feel altogether and are fancy in their own way. The lower area is like a London Street. The walls are painted with street signs and shops as they are done up in a London street. There are show pieces like an Englishman standing at a corner, which gives you the real feel. The beautiful water fountain near the entry adds to the beauty, while the small telephone booth on the entry gate and a bus are just the perfect elements required to complete the place ( given the theme of the place.) The upper floor is more like a hookah place, with small hut-type structures. It is advisable to go for the upper area if you are a large group of friends. Its a lot of fun! With AC in each area, and a curtain to give you a good amount of privacy, this place can seat around 10-12 people. The lights are dim, and it just sets the mood. Just that the music there isnt loud enough. Sometimes, you feel like enjoying the music, but its very faint up there. Also, its kinda difficult for waiter to serve the people sitting on the inner side of the area, but that's a problem, which can have no solution. Leaving that apart the place is a complete delight and it has lovely interiors. There's a double decker bus outside at the entry, which houses the bakery products of @11esc and has a small place to sit and enjoy their products. Do try their chocolates! Service : For our party, there was designated staff and special attention was paid to all my friends. I liked the service and am personally satisfied with the service. Food : We had decided on a set menu for dinner, and its a complete value for money given the quantity and quality of food. The veg starters included drunk chilly jalapeno cheese balls and paneer chilly. The drunk chilly jalapeno cheese balls were just perfect. We enjoyed the cheese just melting in our mouth. Almost all of us literally closed our eyes to quietly enjoy the yummy cheesy taste of the starter. We were mesmerised by the yummy taste. Next, we had the paneer chilly which was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. The paneer was fresh. The only disappointment was there was no chutney /sauce / dip served along with it. My friends tried the non-veg starters, which included the chicken hunan and kasturi methi chicken kebab. What I gathered from their reviews was that chicken hunan was good but tasted more like veg crispy. They loved the kasturi methi chicken kebab. It was an epicurean delight! Next, we were served the "Go Green the Italian Way" salad. The salad was just average, and I have had a lot better than that. But nevertheless, no disappointment associated with it. In the main course, we were served the tawa subz and kumbh makai paneer for the vegetarian foodies. The tawa subz was perfectly cooked and was delectable. We were served the assorted bread platter, which ensured a good variety of breads for the food. For the non-vegetarian foodies, they had an option of jhoomta hua murgh along with the veg veggies. The jhoomta hua murgh was mouth-watering for each one of them, and they loved the preparation. For the next part of mains, we had dal e nawab (black) and jeera rice. The dal was an absolute delight for me!! I haven't had such good dal in long time. A must for each one of you and highly recommended!! The final and most awaited part was the dessert. We had the chocolate strawberry pastry for our dessert. To describe it perfectly, it was AMBROSIAL. It is their seasonal dessert and we all loved it more than anything. It is also highly recommended for everyone! It is just heavenly!! The frozen strawberries in layers of chocolate ...yumm...yumm...yummm...It was a complete delight! We all are planning to go there again only for the desserts! PS : We were given Mojitos and Barman's Special Mocktail on the house. We all unanimously loved the Barman's Special Mocktail, which was made of a mix of Peach and apple juice and certain other secret ingredients. DO ask for the barman's special if you plan to go there! Its perfect as a thirst quencher! Value for Money : Yes, absolutely! It is a complete value for money, and if you are looking for a place for small private parties, this is the place for you!!! Special Thanks : 1) To my lovely friends Archana, Onkar, Shreyas, Aishwarya, Mansi, Suchitra, Ajinkya and Abhijeet. Had a great time !! Thank you for being a part of my celebrations! 2) Joravar Sachdev, part of 11 team to speicalise the experience for me and my friends!! ----- 14 Feb, 2013 ----- The ambience is beautiful...gives u a feel of eating on a london street. The food is good and the service is also good. The food is worth the price, but a limited choice for vegetarians...

Impressive!

While visiting Pune last week I happened to pay a visit to 11 East Street cafe. The USP of this place is its ambience. The cafe is housed in an actual Red bus and is divided into three sections. Me and my friends without much debate chose to sit in the bus section. It is unlike anything I have ever come across. And its pretty darn good. The ambience just took my breath away and so did the Indian and English combination pizza. The service was pretty good. Its not very expensive. A must visit hot spot in Pune.

Great Vibe and Good Food

The first thing you observe about the cafe is the red double decker bus at the entrance and you instantly get lured to the place. As you enter , you get the feel of an old London street with fountains and famous English shopfronts. There is also a shamiyana-style seating section upstairs. We sat street-side as we wanted to listen to the live music being played.
We ordered a Bacardi Chicken, corn and asparagus risotto and a cheese fondue with roasted veggies. The dishes were well prepared and very delicious. The service was very prompt and the staff had good knowledge of the dishes on the menu.
We later proceeded to the dessert counter which is situated in the red bus. The red velvet brownie was outstanding, bettter than anywhere else in Pune.
We simply loved this place.

Always Amazing!

Went here on Saturday with a friend for a couple of drinks. It was pretty crowded and there was waiting but since it was just two of us, we got a table real quick. Ordered Chicken Lollypop with Schezwan Sauce and some Veg Falafels. Really tasty! Didnt really have any main course coz we were pretty full. Had a Red Velvet Brownie which was out of the world! Every time I go to 11 East Street, I end up having an enjoyable time! Cheers to this place!

The Best Hangouts

I had been to this place so many times and always enjoyed the food, ambience, music. Only I'll suggest them that is service is a little slow and needs to improve on that part . We had kebabs here and it was amazingly cooked. The Italian food is at best.

Everything But Service!

This place has a breathtaking ambiance, mouthwatering food and amazing music. The price is average. What I really get upset about is the pathetic service. Went there last week with a bunch of friends and it took 50 minutes for the food to arrive and 25 minutes for the bill. If they could only manage better service, it would be wonderful!

I threw my birthday party at 11 east street for my girlfriends and we had some good quality time.
There is a bus at the entrance of the restaurant. Ambiance is awesome.
Music is good, food is great. We had different kinds of food with some beer.
Dessert was awesome.
Service was kind of slow but chal jata hai.
Price was quite high, but no problem if you are giving a party or hanging out with friends.
It is lovely restaurant.
And I had a really good time with my friends..:)

Fabulous Place! :)

Went here yesterday with a couple of friends and ended up having an amazing amazing evening! There was live music performance by a couple of guys, who were really good! They sang some great songs, and me and my friends, a little tipsy :) , were really enjoying all of it! The starters were great! Being a fan of Chinese food, I totally loved the Chicken Hunan. We also tried Chicken Indianental, which was pretty good. We had continental for the main course. I absolutely fell in love with the Drunk Mariachi but sadly I was too full by then to be able to finish it off. All in all, it was a great evening, with some great food and fab music! Will go there again soon, this time, with an empty stomach! :)

Had An Awesome Birthday Celebration!

Met up with a few friends at 11 East Street on my birthday and I had a fab time!!!! Tried the Veg Fallafel and Paneer Satay. Loved it and of course, my alcohol! :) This place never disappoints as far as the food is concerned, although service was slightly slack this time around. Had to tell the waiter to get me a fork around four times before he finally got it for me. But great ambience and awesome music too!

I'm in love with the ambience and their chocolate vodka lava cake. But the service is a bit slow and there are mosquitoes that bite you constantly.

Great Hangout

It has been a long time since I last visited this place, so long that back then hookahs used to be adorned on each table. Now, its a normal bar with food and drinks to accompany you. The place has some of the most amazing kathi rolls ever, and almost everything here is good, though it is slightly on the expensive side. The place is well-known for its crowd, more than anything else. The ambiance too is good and one is sure to have a great time at this place. However, be sure to go on weekdays or avoid evenings as this place is extremely crowded.

All Day Pleasant Dining Experience

11 East St. is a lovely, quaint retro-London themes restaurant in the middle of East St., Camp. Since it's near to my office, i would choose to visit the place often. While London Street theme has its charm, it's actually sitting on the side setback of the building. So those looking for a contained AC environment, steer clear! The menu is reasonably plentiful, with quite a few options in "continental" or Euro-American cuisine., although they serve indian (north-indian) fares as well. The Bacardi Chicken and also the Butter Grill Fish is a great choice. Prices are expectedly slightly above average for the exclusivity of the menu and its clientele. It's agreat place to catch up with old friends when they come visiting in Pune, and also a greta place to take your partner for a relaxed dinner. The Bakery in the bus is a novel concept, and we are immediately drawn towards it. However, while they have a lovely desert spread, the quality fell slightly short of my expectations, especially in the bitterness and overall quality of the chocolate. Service is a bit slow. But overall, a great recommendation for lunch or dinner in Camp with friends or your partner, or even a power lunch with office colleagues. Oh yes... They serve lovely drinks too!! Hic!

good ambiance, tasty food, cleanliness - okay

I have been here 3 times in the last 8months..
I liked the way it looked, immediately impressed. I love the bus. the first table as soon as you enter on the left. the surroundings were not too clean (esp behind the bus). Anyway, the plan was already made and the food was great. very tasty. Out of the 3 times i have been there, on 2 occasions they were cleaning their underground drainage system. Although it was not inside the restaurant it is still not a good welcome strategy :) .. I hope they have resolved that issue coz i want to go there again. :)

11East street cafe- A peek-a-boo of London streets

To start with the ambiance of this restaurant is quite an experience as it seems to be replica of London's street arena.
The menu serves a potpourri of varied cuisines from around the globe, as for the starters the grilled salad was a fresh delight which comprised of grilled veggies & served with garlic basil foccacia. Though the flavor of the char grilled vegetables was contrary to its description mentioned but the delicious olive oil dressing and the petite crumbs of salted creamy feta cheese saved the day.

A must have here is the Chicken cheese fondue which embarks you on a cheesy journey which enlightens your weekday blues. The USP of the dish was the fondue canister amongst all the components involved. The crispiness of the croutons played well against and the smooth creaminess of cheese. At a point of time the dish did get a bit bland, hesitatingly i requested the staff for some veggies and surprisingly the chef obliged and i was presented with a bowl of grilled veggies, which bought me back in the game.

Overall a good place to spend your lazy evenings, though a bit pricey for the new bees but you get your money's worth.

After reading a lot about the place, I visited the place with lot of expectations. Ambience was good as expected. The bitter disappointment was the service. The waiters were very indiferent towards taking order and had to call several times before someone came to take the order. The waiters were more interested in having there own good time and not to cater to the guests need. The food is good though looking at the pace of service dint had the patience to try much.
The place can definetely do much better.

A horrible experience

Had heard a lot about the place and visited recently with family for dinner on 30 April 2012. Came out with a very very bad experience. To start with even though the place was not full we were kept waiting for our table. Finally we helped ourselves with that. Once seated there was no one to take order for good 20 minutes. The icing on the cake was the rudeness of the waiter who finally took pity on us and came to take the order. On inquiring regarding the delay his rude reply left such a bad taste that we decided it was enough for the night and left the place after wasting 30 minutes. More importantly the weekend was ruined. But the best part was even after informing the management about the incident there was no apology and no regret at customers leaving like this. Really very thick skinned staff. Cheers!

Hope the management takes heed and replies to this post as they have done for positive reviews.

Impecible service, delectable food, fab ambience

During my visit to Pune, I made sure I had a meal at 11 East Street, one of the cities most exciting restaurants. I had heard a lot about the place and decided to try it myself. I was pleasantly surprised with everything at 11. The staff is amiable & the food is just out of this world. I had a Caesar's Salad and it was prepared to perfection with an amazing amalgamation of continental dressings. The iced-tea that I ordered for was fresh, flavored & a delightful addition to my meal. The ambiance of this place is so pleasant & creative that it makes the experience at 11 East Street an unforgettable one just adding to the brilliance of the food and the drinks and of course the flawless service. The restaurants owner Joravar Sachdev is a true gourmet whose advice on food must be paid heed to! He's a man who knows his food & loves his restuarant. Over-all a fun-filled, fantastic & fabulous place to dine at, grab a few drinks or indulge into some heavenly desserts. This one is a MUST VISIT on your trip to Pune.

'Some places you always want to come back to'

What are the things you look for in a best dinning experience? A gratifying ambiance, a hospitable staff, a welcoming service and the most important; enriching food. 11 East Street is the place you can count on for such an experience. "Quality in a product or service is not what the supplier puts in. It is what the customer gets out and is willing to pay for." A place where 'everything matters' is an attitude towards a great food experience is where you want to come back again. Visit this place once and you will be pleased to make it your routine!
Good going guys!

2 Times Unlucky!!

I had been there on Friday evening 24th Feb, 2011. I had recently won a East Street dinner voucher on Valentines Day for an event at InOrbit Mall, which was due expiry on the 24th Feb, 2011. So, I decided to visit the place to make use of this voucher. We reached there at around 9:45PM; there was hardly any welcome by any of the teams when you walk in. So I had to scan for the steward and ask him to set up a table for 3. He found us a table right opposite the entrance to the red london bus.

As we settled in, a waiter came with his handy PDA to take in our order. We ordered for a few light beers and some starters. Among the starters were Veg Nacho with Cheese, Non-Veg Spring Roll & Chicken Shawarma. The beer and the Nachos were brought in very quick, which was very impressive. After about a few minutes came in the Spring Roll; which we bit into to find it was a Veg Spring Roll that was severed to us. We called in for the waiter and showed it to him and he went back to have it changed without any word. He returned after while with the Chicken Shawarma plates and the Non-Veg Spring roll. We had just started to dig into the Shawarma, as my wife suddenly got spooked and froze when see saw a tiny dead coackroach in the Beet Root salad that got served with the Shawarma. This was the lowest point of that night's dinner.

We all froze at that very point and couldn't dare to bite into our food. I straight away called in for the manager. Rahul, the manager, arrived and I politely held the plate to him and asked him whether he found something unusual about the items on the plate. He was smart enough to figure out what I was referring to. He apologized about the situation and asked the waiter to clear out the table of all the food and take a fresh set of orders from us which would be on the house (except Alcohols). Rahul then called in the Head Chef to our table. I don't know whose fault it really was; so I told the Chef & Rahul that this happened certainly because of the lack of a hygienic kitchen. Rahul replied saying its an open air-ed kitchen and sometimes bugs might fly in. I believe its the job of the White Summer Hospitality group to look into this issue; if in real the open aired kitchen faces a threat to the food being cooked and served. I told him that we had decided to come to East Street mainly to use up the food voucher since it was the last day and further more I also told him that this was my 2nd (Second) bad experience at the East Street Cafe; the earlier incident occurring in 2010 when the manager of the place was Ajay Methello. So the stats were 2 Visits and 2 Bad experiences.

After all the hassle, a new waiter came to our table to take fresh orders. We decided to go in for the main course right away, as it was already 10:20PM by this time. We asked him about any sea-food specialties that they have and they suggest us to go with the Grill Lobster in Lemon Grass Butter and the spicy Grilled Tandoori Prawn with Butter rice. I decided to put my trust in the waiter and asked him to place order for what he suggested.

The suggested food items were extremely delicious, I have to say. The lobster meat was well cooked and served in the lobster shell with the side dish of rice, french fries and boiled broccoli & carrots. The tandoori prawn was very spicy and since we love hot & spicy , it was a thrill.

The place lacks the fine dine experience and its certainly not very well lit. A good dinner always has sufficient lighting so that the guest can clearly see whats on the plate. The ambiance is unique and its definitely a fun place to hang out there; but after such an experience its hard to go there a second time or until I can get this incidence of my mind.

hi,
thank you for taking out the time and giving a detailed review of your experience. however, i was already made aware of your experience on mail via my manager, rahul. my personal apologies to you for what you went through. in our 4 years of running the restaurant this case has happened 1 or 2 times and every time its very shameful to know about it and to respond. We will be taking strict measures to ensure this is nullified. Thank you for yet ordering for another dish and enjoying it..

Powerful Lunch !

When i walked into East Street Cafe, I knew what exactly i was going to order.. my favorite pasta in town along with a mojito to beat the afternoon heat.. which was going to bill upto 450 (300+150+taxes) anyway when i saw this power lunch option, where you get a good portion of starters, salad, soup, main course, beer/mocktail and dessert of your choice at 399 .. i expected the portions to be smaller, but they were the regular size off the order .. so i stuck to the primary order and got nachos and brownie with iccream , some french onion soup .. and it was indeed a pleasant experience and a steal ;)

Londonicious

After having heard alot about this place I had visited it 2 years ago and ever since I havent stopped. Im based in Mumbai but everytime Im in Pune, 11 East Street Cafe is a thing to do. Reason I write this review now is because Im right now in this restaurant and its gotten even better.
I tried the Oreo Milkshake which wasnt there earlier and it is out of the World. A yemista is my favourite here but this time i went ahead with the pizzas and the VEGGIE OOMPH has done the trick...
They have some insane music playing (very different from before). I have been utlilising their happy hours since early afternoon and the manager Rahul, just got me some chocolates with my bill and a card signed by the owner which reads ''Pleasure to have you here, enjoy the chocolates. In Service, Joravar Sachdev'. I know the people here ever since Ive been a regular but his time around, they have gone beyond excellence....
Worth every penny. Sunday is made!

Not Happening

Me and my wife had been here some time back. I had read and heard quite a ot about this place and therefore decided to visit. I made my way through heavy city traffic all teh way from Aundh area to the restaurant. Took me about an hour in the evening traffic. I was looking to finally relax at the place.

I entered and the ambience looked promising. But unfortunately, thats all was there to it, the menus looked well designed and there was a quaint London-ish feel to the place (the big red bus cannot be missed). Post that, it all went downhill from there. We asked for the menus and they arrived late, that ticked me off for a bit. I believe the proprieter was on the floor then and he seemed entusiastic - a feeling not mutually shared with his staff. We ordered for drinks and were served miniscule amounts. I say that; because I thought Hard Rock Cafe would be the most expensive place in the city (apart from the five stars) given that its a world chain - some of the menu items at 11 East Street were quite more expensive. Moreover, the quantities were minimal - like prasad!

Unfortunately the food story was the same. There were expensive dishes galore and miniscule quantities - that arrived late and did not taste great.

My review is not for the new year party as below and therefore i would advise only a single visit - to check out the ambience. Rest of it isnt great...

Verdict: 2 out of 5 stars, and they're only for the ambience

New year ruined !!!

Well all i can say is that i was duped by Zomato and 11 east street cafe on new years' eve. I had purchased the vouchers from zomato.com for new years party on 31st, which boasted of lively ambience music and what not. Well all i was offered was a table in d backyard of this cafe..which was opened up and made a makeshift restaurant to cater to the 'extra demand' on new year.
This makeshift place was in no way comparable to the actual cafe people can see from outside. The management and staff was just busy caring for those people who were coming on the last minute and paying them hefty amounts and people like me who had the sense to do the booking at reduced rates were given reduced services as well.
The place had dirty tablecloths, steel chairs (without cushions),staff too was dressed differently than the staff which was catering to the front area. I had reached as early as 9 pm but i was not offered a table of my choice as they were saving it for the high spenders!
The menu was makeshift too as it was shortened into just 2 pages of printed paper. There was no choice or variety.
And dont even get me started on the staff and management's rudeness. On complaining about the above mentioned things I was rudely told to back off and go if i wanted to because obviously they had been their money at the time of booking.I ordered something and got something else. And then got my order after incessantly asking the waiters for 1 hour.
This makeshift place had a shamiyana above with 2 televisions playing old shammi kappor songs on some music channel. The napkins had sone amrita restaurant or something printed on them instead of 11 east street cafe.It seemed like I was eating in some wedding function.
I am highly disappointed by Zomato.com as well as 11 east street cafe and would caution everyone booking a event ticket from zomato or wanting to go to 11 east street cafe,to please think before doing so.

Before & Now

Before & Now

Amazing Place, to start with, but not for those who are weak-pocketed and do not quite like the loud music. The food, alcohol, are a bit pricey, but what a place!!
Now above is my experience

The only good thing I can say about this place is that it's big and the live music was pretty good.

The food was not 'fine dining' by a long shot. It was quite ordinary and totally lacking in flavour. the quality has changed drastically and it needs to improve.

Apart from Superb food & prompt service, as an artist (Deep Vibes), we are always respected by the super amazing crowd & the 'In Service' crew. This is one place which has never disappointed us, and am sure, will never do.

Talking about the ambiance, 11 East Street Cafe is one place which reminds us of "London" ;-)

One particular ocassion just blew my mind... We complained that drinks are not too strong and we were served one round of drinks and desserts on the house... Joravar came and talked to us and made sure we were not disappointed at all... Not that I would have compained even then but these kind of things towards the cutomers definitly get a place in good books... All praises to 11ESC and I am sure I will be back pretty soon :)

Poor experience...............

Been there for a b'day party..... first and foremost we asked the waiter about the food. He said he didn't know which was what, and how it tasted. Neither could that fellow understand English nor Hindi properly :( It was Ladies Night of which the waiter himself didn't know properly (there were supposed to be free Caprioska for all the ladies coming in. But he ended up blabbering that you get one Caprioska free for every 3...poor!!!) We ordered starters, which were all below avg. I didn't taste the veggies but for the non-veg platter, the meat was very hard to chew. The drinks came after we were done wit the starters and that was after going and complaining to the manager!!... though the Caprioska was good! But by then, we were so irritated that we left without having the main course.

P.S: 6 starters and one old monk gave us a blow of 2100/-...............(caprioskas were free)

PHEW!!!! totally not worth it!!!!

Mixed feelings, overall a very good experience!

My friends and I dined in 11 east street yesterday, and it was a very good and unique experience.

Well, as the good things go, the variety of food was incredible! we ordered a lamb dish (i think it was in lemon sauce or something, i forgot what the name of the recipe was :p) and it was one of the very few awesome lamb recipes i have ever tasted. We also loved the Thai kebabs, although my friend thought it was a bit too oily. One cocktail we ordered was 'Sex on the Beach', and it simply blew both of us away, it was that good. The ambiance was really fun and I loved the posters, wall creations and the fountains of the 3 ladies in the middle of the street.

As for the cons, and after reading many of the reviews about the bad service, I thought that the restaurant was a understaffed , but the management was efficient and patient enough to listen all our requests and gave the orders in a fairly reasonable amount of time, and even the restaurant overflowing with patrons. Another thing was the a couple of the drinks were not available, although being on the menu (Tropical Sangria, which i really wanted to try but had to contend myself with a sub-par cherry wine crusta).

All in all, it was an experience worth having. We were stuffed and happy when we left, and if the little snags are taken care of, it would be a really awesome place to hang out with friends, family and loved ones.
Dinner for 3: Rs. 3005 (1455 food, 1550 drinks)

landmark for pune..

I happened to visit this restaurant on Tuesday on the insistence of many of my friends. I'm from mumbai and to see a concept like that in Pune was absolutely refreshing and surprising. The red bus at the entrance, the london street feel and the sheesha venue add up to a great place..
On tuesdays they have ladies nights so the girls were treated to complimentary caipirojkas and that set the ball rolling..
The menu is vast and diverse.
I personally relish seafood so I ordered for 'prawns in schezuan sauce' and it was delicious. The others treated themselves to some famous dishes like bacardi chicken, drunk mariachi etc..
I'm a non-alcoholic so I went for the mango shock. superb! The beer sheesha was also unique for me..
Prashant was very helpful and the entire experience has left me longing to go there another time..
'Team 11' as they call themselves are surely rocking and have successfully created a landmark in Pune..
A must must visit..

Heading Hospitality

At a time where Hospitality seems to be the most suitable business for everyone, there a re very few places that are really hospitable and are doing the right thing. 11 East Street Cafe seems to be one of those restaurants thats doing it right...
I happened to be there last week and their menu was better than the first time I came.. Their beer selection is superb. I guzzled on a few 'Brooklyns' as you dont seem to find this beer too often in stand alone restaurants....
Their menu is huge and confusing but the variety left me surprised.
I tried the swiss fondue and it was simply a treat...
they are famous for the desserts so my friend and I called for the 'chocolate vodka lava' and 'Losing my religion' and they spelt out the reason for the popularity of the desserts...
It was a Friday Night and there was a LIVE BAND performing which heightened my experience...
The service staff was friendly, attentive and rather helpful....
It was an experience which left me in awe of the Hospitality carried out by this team....

It was a thursday night and they had a LIVE GRILL nite so i chose to have crab in lemon butter sauce which they prepare for you LIVE..
I accompanied it with some Stella Draft (this is one of the very few restaurants in Pune or Mumbai that serves it)....
Service as usual was great and the manager, Ajay indeed helpful....

Till then enjoy this venue. Cheers!

Great place for any occassion !!

Be it the more creative bacardi chicken or the authentic chicken tikka masala. This place has something for all...breakfast, lunch or dinner...and oddly even their brunch is to die for. Not only is their food delicious and VFM but their desserts are probably the best this side of the country. And more over....its in a bus "lounge" format. I love this place and visit it every time im in Pune and and it never lets me down. A personal fav of mine is their bangers and mash and their long and island ice teas....also their Bloody mary's have something addictive about them...try it. U wont be disappointed. Restaurant with a "Hatke" ambience

I visited the place on a Sunday morning. Possibly because of heavy rain and not so hungry hours, the place was vacant, which also gave me a chance to glance thru the restaurant. its quite unique, modelled on an English street, with a double decker bus converted to a bakery. the waiter carried a jazzy gadget to place orders which was quite novel. we ordered continental food, Herbed Pomfret and roasted lamb with rosemary sauce. It took a little while for the food to arrive which was probably the only negative. the food was quite tasty and well served. food was enough to fill my never say no tummy. it cost us 620 Rs, quite reasonable i should say for the kind of food and also the location of the place. all in all, impressed with the restaurant and hope to visit again to try out other cuisines and their bar.

Quite appealing and a great experience

I've been here a couple of times and I usually walk out satisfied with the excellent food and awesome ambience. . We had been here to celebrate my b’day. Must say that some staff members here are really very smart to guess out the occasion you are celebrating. The manager made the evening special for us by giving a pastry lit with a candle. Special thanks to him?

Otherwise the food taste and quality is one of the best in town. Service is excellent and attentive, although they have new team members. The live music played here sometimes, makes it a place worth a visit. Perfect place 2 visit with friends, family and of course your loved ones.

Always Improving Perfection!!

I vividly remember this Friday evening from a few years ago (December 2007). My fiancé and I were considering where to dine and couldn’t come up with something different other than our usual hangouts. Please understand we’re both food lovers and give tremendous importance to the ambiance and ‘feel’ of a place and enjoy visiting different restaurants/cafes/bars. We were parked on east street waiting outside a store for a delivery when I noticed ‘The Red Bus’. Pointing it out to my soon to be husband, I offered to go in for minute and take a look. DIFFERENT and how!!!
At first glance it looked like one of those quaint cafés (at a larger scale of course) with a captivating atmosphere. Someone (in a charming uniform I might add!) very eagerly came running up to me and asked if he could help. I questioned whether they were open. With a delighted smile he responded “Yes Ma’am! In Service”! What a fun experience that evening was!
I feel exactly the same even when I walk in today. Whether that’s for an unwinding evening, a special occasion or merely an evening with friends! It’s simply for everyone. One of the great qualities about this place is there is always something new to look forward to and the various ‘news’ I have come across have never been disappointing. I couldn’t ask for a better experience; the assorted menu, the food taste and quality, the service, the interiors and of course the ‘feel’. Hats off to the entire team of 11 East Street Café! You always somehow manage to improve perfection!!

11 East, the place to be!

11 East has and will always be one of my favorite places in Pune. Apart from the very unique decor, great ambience, I think of 11 East, as a place that serves just Superb Food! More importantly, this is only place where i saw 'Food Fusion' What more is, being distinctive makes it even harder for foodies to like it, and 11 East pulls that off with an Ace. I'm still awestruck by the Sizzler I had during one of the regular 'Sizzler Festivals'. That being said, 11 East has all the cuisines well served from Italian to Indian to Mughali. And to top that, You get Leffe & Hoegarden! which is a treat for international Beer lovers..Go out there for Killer Food, Class Crowd and some brilliant music to have a real good time.

hope to see you soon.

Slow on Service High on Ambience

This Joint is an example of how not improving with time can take it spiralling down.
This was one of the more vaunted joints in an around MG Road/Camp area which had the brilliantly innovative English Street side ambiance with the Bus full of Pastries!

The demand of the local crowd and the ever increasing rush in Pune has spoiled the charm as the staff and the seating cannot cater to the weekend crowds.

This is a place where one should go in a big group and would recommend pre-booking the enclosed space on the first floor.

Hookah's and Platters are decent, along with selected non-Indian dishes.
Would recommend the Kheema Pav which is still good after all these years.

A meal would cost around 600 bucks, which is tad on the higher side considering the quality which has slid drastically and the slow service.

First & Last visit ...

Had heard alot abt this plc...so thought of giving it try....
To my delusion turned out to be a horrid experiment....Being the weekend there was alot of rush...Had to put our names in the waiting list..20 mins of waiting turned out to be 2 hours of waiting......Finally after getting a table it took us another twenty minutes to catch hold of a waiter TO ATLEAST get us the menu....I had to go through the menu atleast thrice..coz i cudnt seem to find much choice..especially in the vegetarian section....i wudnt even read my english comprehension thrice ...this menu ws a task....anyways after finally deciding..which was hardly anything to decide...i had to frantically hunt for someone's attention to place the order.....the order took a while, almost half an hour, for the order but i can still understand that....We needed to order another naan between our meal, which seemed like a life time till I could catch hold of a waiter...Even after repeatedly complaining that the service was bad and noone was attending us...der seemed to be no change....the idea of having a nice pleasant evening over a meal and sm conversation was a complete kaput.....I was so irritated by the service that i dint want to sit there evena minute longer..just wanted to get out...so again hunt hunt hunt for the waiter to clear our table and get us the bill...There was a guy who came to us and I very politely told him that this was my first tym to the restaurant and was extremely disappointed, with everything ..he turned out to be the restaurant manager....He said he was extremely sorry and he would MAKE US HAPPY!!(So i tot cool maybe he mite do smthin )...uhuh...he dint he forgot abt us...after another ten minutes he spotted me hunting him...finally HE GOT US TISSUES( :-000000 WAS this the meaning of happy???)...the tissues were hardly 3 to be precise and since we had no mre patience to again beckon smone we SHARED the tissues....Embarassing but had ENOUGH!!!! finally another ten minuates and den the fingerbowls came...CHILLED water...the icing on the cake...the finl straw...Finally the bill came just paid and left...was so relieved to leave!!!Just in case you go here the first time a piece of advice, just coz the guys are wearing the restaurants uniform doesnt mean they take orders, or will come to your table....they are just wearing it coz they think its cool...im not sure who u should beckon but ya keep hunting...

Simply fantastic

I enjoy trying new food & experimenting with cuisines. I've been a loyal fan of 11 esc since it opened about 2 yrs ago. My experiences have always exceeded my expectations, and I go there very often (at least 3 times a month). Whenever i visit 11 East Street Cafe, I always end up trying something new on their menu. The menu is like 10 pgs long and has so much to offer. my favourite section is their cuisines of the world. And their desserts are just decadent.

The first pg of their menu has a brief note on In Service. They have definitely lived up to the description you provide. Kudos to the owners & the service team.

its all about the food,ppl!!

Was amused to read that this restaurent got an award due to its "london feel". Been to this place several times and each time i have noticed the gradual downslide in the quality of food & service and it was certainly not improved by looking at the "london feel" ambience of the restaurent.

Nice place...

I have been visiting east street cafe for over 2 years now. Although my first 2 visits turned out to be bad as i found the cafe-stuff overpriced and not so tasty, all my later visits have been good.
I visit this place 4-5 times a month for dinner. I'm generally with 4-5 friends and we prefer the upper seating. The girl who allots that is bit rude and generally gives bad seats to guy-group, I have to negotiate with the upper deck staff to get seating of my choice. The owner is also good and if he's there, takes care of your requirements very politely. The service does get slow during rush and you have no option but to bear with that.
The hookah flavours are plenty and they have a nice menu of cocktails.
The bar menu is good. They have all regular varieties of cocktail and they are good in taste. I've tried many and none was bad. They have a good list of imported liquor. I'm more into beer and they have heineken, corona, stella artois, peroni, hoeggarden, beck's. I prefer the tiger tank, 10 mugs for 900 bucks is a good bet.
We generally order punjabi food. The tandoori chicken, dal makhni and paneer dishes are all amazing. The quality has always been consistent and never lacked.
The place gets very hot in summers and the coolers make it more humid. So avoid in that season. The fans and cooler don't give you any air so its best in monsoon & winters.

Pathetic Service

We waited for our table to be cleaned for 5 minutes, the menu arrived 15 minutes after that, then it took 10 min to catch hold of a guy to place an order...turns out he doesnt take orders..and then comes the person who actually takes orders after 10 minutes and tells us 2 out of 4 items we ordered are unavailable.

They emphasize on "service" on the first page of their supposedly exclusive menu book and this is the kind of service we get.

My suggestion is avoid places who do not understand they r providing a service, and it is us who can run their businesses.

Food is just plain horrible

Being a localite I have a uncanny ability of identifying which joints suck just by looking at one. 11 east street cafe was one such.

However I had to visit it becoz it was raining heavily and going to Barbeque nation was not possible.

Well went with my wife who is a pure veggie. The service was slow the table was not cleaned. There was dusky chick who actually was good in attending us, made sure we got attended too.

Being there for the first time I asked her what was good and she recommended makhmali kabab. My wife ordered some paneer starter dont remember the name. In all fairness she was the only person out there who was doing all the work thats the only good thing i can report.

The makhmali kabab came in with only chopped onions I asked the waiter no tastemaker with it. he said no. I said what the hell, then he got some barbeque sauce for it. The chicken was horrrrrrrrible. The most disgusting thing was that the rear side of our fork and spoon was not even washed properly. We should it to the waiter who got us another pair. I am sure that most of you guys dont even bother checking the cutlery or the plates but we do.

I am not a food expert but I can make out that the chicken was raw and taste was just bittery. I thought maybe one piece was awful but after tasting all of them (6 or 7) all of them were plain disgusting but still being hungry and obviously why to waste money I ate few of them but left some.

My wifes paneer starter were just plain out there nothing exciting. I started cursing myself for choosing the joint. we thought lets move out but once again the rain thing and being hungry then we decided to take this thing called shashlik rice or something like that (veg). It had few paneer pieces on a bed of rice. This thing was for Rs 210 and thought that it might be something good. There was no taste for the rice and after having those awful starters we left the paneer from the rice. The rice was hideous, my wife said that they have not cooked it properly. what more the quantity was so less that we did not understand what was the whole dish all about. All those 3 dishes set us a cool 570odd bucks.

Money totally wasted. We thought it would have been better if we had gone to Rama Krishna atleast you get your moneys worth.

Not sure if it's London, but very good

One can go on and on about the ambience at 11 East Street Cafe (what with an old double decker BEST bus now serving as a pastry shop, etc, etc), and the place is worth a visit just for a dekko, but the food doesn't disappoint too.

The food isn't very authentic and the menu itself hints at that with a lot of talk about dishes they've created, but it's very tasty. For instance, the French Onion Soup I had was quite far from the traditional recipe, but on a cold evening, it really warmed me up and brought a smile to my face. And dishes like Bacardi chicken (chicken marinated in Bacardi white rum, what else!), are experimental, but very tasty. And the desserts are quite good too. I've eaten here thrice and tried out different things each time and always walked out with a smile on my face. Even the Indian food is pretty good.

What needs to improve is the service -- the waiters are very helpful but it's obvious they don't know much about the food they're serving -- some of them struggle to explain more about a dish (something they should do, since the restaurant is big on fusion food). And often they aren't very visible and you can be neglected for a noticable amount of time.

But all in all, this place is a welcome addition to Pune's already sparkling array of eating places.

One of the places you would always remember

As my title suggests, this really is one of the places you would always remember and always want to go back to again.

@Ambience
This one is the best sellling point... really gives you the feel of a typically British cafe. My rating for this place has gone so high just because of the ambience.

@food
Lot of things to choose from. I need not say much about what to eat, my fellow reviewers have done that well. Surprisingly indian food here was good, actually i was't expecting indian cuisine here. The quantity isent satisfying though

@service
The staff is very helpful, but when its full of people it gets really irritating

@people around
hmmm... now this is really good... you would enjoy having a looong dinner here... esp on weekends

@highlight
Live band on thursday - really good
The pastry bus - there is a double decker bus at the enterance.. and guess what .. its full of pastries.. lot of options to choose from... should really not miss going in there

London, Baby!!

Reminiscing nostalgia you enter, and transformative imagery occurs almost immediately - from the dusty streets of Pune to, well, a street of British regalia or at least portrays the vanity it seems to exuberate - when you enter 11, East Street Cafe. Designed to replicate a sidewalk in England (flanked by props of shop windows like Marks n Spencer, Posh Spice etc), a life-size Red Bus greets you. A thorough selection of delicious pastries and breads are ensconced within this air conditioned bus. Walk further past, and a dumb woman - the maitre de refuses to seat you on a table of 6 if you are a group of 3 (irrespective of the how less the number of inhabitants currently occupy the tables!).

A widely elaborate menu consumes most of your time - prompts you to scavenge through the rummage of alphabets to pick your options, in that it houses a medley of English food, Italian food, Lebanese food, and Indian food.

From bangers and mash to the colloquial fish and chips to portions of chicken served up in a wide array of sauces and accompaniments, to the routine shawarma and grilled chicken, to pizzas, pastas, Indian punjabi food and dal, its comprehensively thought about and indulged in.

#1 - the pizza (Rs. 170/- for 10") was decent, but then again, you cannot go wrong with cheese sitting atop bread!

#2 - English chicken in barbeque sauce (Rs. 195/-)
Experience no. 1 - served in 5 mins flat - was raw, had to spit it in a tissue!!! - called the manager - took it back - came back after 5 mins - said that I was right - the chicken was undercooked!! - the acceptance was a first for me outside of a 5 star hotel!! - that bit of honesty definitely earns some stars.
Experience no. 2 - served the same dish - properly cooked - but nothing to write home about - served with the measliest portion of fries and garlic bread - ordered more garlic bread (Rs. 28/- for 6 tiny portions) - was served plain toast instead!!

#3 - cheesey pasta with mushrooms (Rs. 165/-) was severely cheesy and sticky!!

The too many exclamation marks on the negative note referenced above rather sums up a negative food rating.

The irony of my tryst with this destination lies in the fact, that I long to go back for more - coz I am almost sure that my 'pickings' were wrong; maybe because I refuse to believe that such a good place can be undone by such un-alluring food. I rest the benefit of doubt with them.

The marriage between the east and west in a by-lane in Pune seems most enthralling and immediately attracts attention - to devour its offerings.
Puneietes have a thing to brag about on this one. Alas!, its not food on this count.

Interesting Trivia: Check out their huge glasses in which they serve water - must be a kilo in weight, to say the least!

Cool ambience..really great food

Like raymasky said, the ambience is really cool, open but without an A/C. They even have a double decker bus at the entrance that doubles up as a waiting area and a dessert station - the kids just love it. They have created faux shop windows and entrances to keep up with the street-cafe ambience. This cafe also boasts of a hookah bar sort of thing on the first floor and an exclusive vegetarian joint at the back of the cafe is going to added soon.
Now, the food. Excellant food, didn't have a single bad point except the service. Most of the staff was just running around and everything looked a tad chaotic. Then again, its a new restaurant, hardly a month old so I think things will be better soon. The food though is excellant and they have a great dessert selection as well. Everything we ordered was great.
Try the English ratatouille and the amazing Irish coffee mousse.
A definite thumbs-up kinda place.

Lovely Ambiance..Excellent Service

The first thing you will notice about this place is the wonderful British-sidewalk style ambiance. The decor is done up in such a way that it resembles a British street cafe. There's a great amount of finer touches given to the interior and it all looks very classy. One more thing to note is that since the interiors are pretty open ...there are no A.C's. The list of items on the menu range from stuff like a typical English fish and chips platter to the Mughlai Raan gosht , which left me quite surprised coz i thought that this way a typical coffee bar. They also have a well stocked up bar. The Price range is a bit steep ..and a typical meal for two with a pint of beer , starters, and the main course would cost around Rs.700-800. But the whole experience is worth every penny.
