Good Food @ Great Prices

This is a no-frills dining hall and one of the most ideal places to find a good wholesome meal at a reasonable price. Once upon a time, I was a regular here. Those were days when salary was less and had to fit in all expenses and yet save money. This place was a boon to students, salaried professionals, basically people surviving on a tight budget.

It’s located in a residential building and is always crowded, especially on weekends. They serve a simple unlimited thali meal comprising of salad, chutney, 2 subzi, dal, rasam/sambar, papad and rice. The chapati is served hot and keep asking/serving you till you ask them to stop, same is the case with all other items as well.

They have some other items on the menu, sweet dishes and beverages, which are charged extra.

The quality of food is very good, it’s non-oily and hygienic too.

All in all, a must visit place.

Truely value for money

I am a veteran of this place. When was studying Engineering and living on light pockets, we used to have our full meal at this place. It was a single storied old building that time. It was always full and normally we had to wait for 15 min to enter. I still remember aroma of fresh Chapatis and Slightly wet Potato subji ( batata Baji). It was always very tempting. The service was also very good. The full meal costs around Rs. 20/ at that time.

Now the dining hall is having modern look. Multistory building welcome us. The owner thankfully put a photo of old building at the entrance itself which take us to old memories. Gone are the wooden benches and new leather chairs welcome us.

The food served here is having Karnataka taste. Particularly the Amti ( dal ) you can clearly distinguish. The restaurant is very clean and food served has taste of home prepared one. Not at all spicy. Unlimited food. Truly satisfying.

I have only complain about a little drop in quality. The Chapatis now are not as fresh as they used to be and taste of subji also not at its best. Only Amti did not changed.

Everything else is fine. If at some time you feel like eating homely food, this is perfect restaurant. At Rs 50/- per dish it is definitely good value for money.
