Hospitable Service can't always be the Saviour
Date of Visit - 4/5/12
Well, it all started with my craving to have daal-baati since it had been a long time i last it, being a hardcore Rajasthani. SO, went there with 2 of my friends and from the outside, the place looked nice, though it was not easy to find it, but okay. Everything in there was well-laid and the silver plates and all the placement was fine. Much to my surprise, they served paneer, aloo, sprouts, sweet dal, sweet kadhi in my plate.. when i asked them where the hell was baati...It's served only on Sundays. Now, you open a restaurant and publicize it as of serving nice rajasthani food, but,in reality, there was hardly anything there that can be called somewhat near to rajasthani except dal. Plus, i suppose it was so-called rajasthani+gujarati thali as everything was sweet. Only good thing was chaach, and for my friend, aam ras. This all for 210 bucks is not a good deal and yes, staff was very hospitable and courteous. So, if u want to try, head out on sundays.
P.S. Review is of Karve Nagar branch, Kothrud.
Worm in food at Thaat Baat, Dahanukar Colony
I ordered one thali and extra snacks from "Thaat-Baat" restaurant, Near Dhanukar Colony, through Tasty Khana, on 30th October 2011. The order was delivered to me within 45 mins (as promised by TastyKhana) and we started our lunch. At the end of the lunch we opened the packet for plain rice and was aghast to find a "big worm" cooked alongwith the rice and was lying at the top of rice.you can imagine the feeling we had about the just eaten food after seeing such unhygienic food. I immediately called tastykhana whose customer service executive was as usual very helpful and he promised to call the restaurant and get him in conference call in 5 mins. I immediately got a call and when I explained this issue to the Thaat-Baat restaurant person he gave me a shock of my life, when he said "sir worm nikili rice mein se...ok, abhi ho gaya toh ho gaya, abhi kya kar sakte hai" (Sir, if worm has been found in the rice...it has happened, what can I do now?). He was neither apologetic (which is the least he could have done), neither did he express his willingness for showing concern to my comments on his food quality (which he should be more concerned than me).
TastyKhana agreed to refund me the money (which is what they could best in this situation).
So all of you who either order from the restaurant or go to the restaurant to enjoy food in silver utensils, think twice if you want to give more priority to the "Thaat-Baat" i.e show off or want to have hygenic food.
I don't even want to review their food after this incident.
So thumbs down to "Thaat-Baat" for their unhygienic food and showing least concern for the food quality and big thumbs up to TastyKhana for handling this in an appropriate manner.
One of the over hyped and overpriced restaurant i visited. Whole staff is ridiculous and rude . coming to the thali there is no such thing as rajasthani in the thali except daal baati everything else is maharashtrian. I wont spend Rs 200+ at a place where everyone is showing their attitude. You wont feel anything like " thaat baat " except the name .
Variety At ITS BEST
Very good variety and unlimited food. Food is simply delicious going by the competition it faces from Mayur....decided to try Mayur also but nothing as compared to THAAT BAAT. Service is quick and efficient and they have ample seating place. Food is priced at a very modest Rs 150 for unlimited veg Gujrati/Rajasthani Thali........Awesome and truly the best is an understatement
