A lovely breakfast place, value for money.

Egg: God's ready to eat food, especially for men. If you cannot cook anything, just boil it and voila, you have breakfast. An indispensable constituent in many a dishes. Make an omelette, scrambled eggs, on toast, make a roll, a poached egg.... many versions, quick to cook and delicious. So, without much ado and 'egg'zaggeration let us review Yolkshire.

Yolkshire: A nice and apt name for a place which serves a variety of egg based preparations. Omelette can virtually be stuffed with whatever one wants (courtesy a few YouTube videos wherein yours truly tried his hand at making a few omelettes stuffed with cheese, capsicum etc.- turned out to be horrible) . So ,here at Yolkshire, you have a variety of cheese based omelettes with mushroom, corn, sausages etc. The menu is well researched and has some amazing preparations.

I am a big fan of cheese omelette and hence zeroed in on corn cheese foldover (pics attached). I would say it was more or less good, however they could have done with adding a bit more cheese to do some justice. Also, ordered mushroom scramble. The scrambled eggs went well with diced mushrooms. You can also make a choice of ingredients for your omelettes with any topping of chicken/ cheese with olive oil and much more at a very reasonable price (from just 10 bucks to 30/-) . Some work needs to be done in the cheese omelette department though.

Another good thing, they serve toast (white/ wheat bread based) and baked beans with your order as an accompaniment. Do check out the pics.

The menu also boasts of a lot of more varieties like various scrambled egg preparations, waffles, pancakes and more. We were interested in trying waffles and ordered blueberry waffles. For Rs 90/-, that was a huge portion, however the blueberry sauce was spread generously on the waffles (doused actually) and dominated the taste. If you intend to try it, please ask blueberry syrup separately.

The place also offers hot beverages (both the machine variety). Ordered tea (listed as chai) and was made piping hot. For Rs. 20/- it was a good deal.

All in all, not disappointed at all. However, I still feel the guys are learning the ropes. Nevertheless, a nice place for breakfast.

Something not related: Noticed Tabasco sauce lookalikes here known as Capsico from Dabur. And they have a striking resemblance to the Tabasco bottle, supposedly only for Rs 40/- as against the 200/- odd bucks for Tabasco.

Greetings Mr. Vinod,

I absolutely loved the Capsico. In fact I also happened to learn from a friend who is a chef that it is favourite in the hospitality industry and plan to buy some myself.

A lovely place, you have here and very aptly named. Hope to see it grow from strength to strength.

Been here quite a few times now!! Althougth I love their pancakes, this time I decided to try the Cheese and Chilli Omlette. It was absolutely yummy! Loved the little bowl of baked beans and the potatoes served along with it! Their Ice Teas are also amazing!! My friend tried Mac n Cheese and she too was in 7th heaven! Every bit is worth the price!!

Great Breakfast Place!

The three-four times that I have visited this place, have always been very satisfied with the quality and quantity of food, also the service. As a Egg lover, for me this place is a paradise! My favourite is the Omlette Reve! Even their sandwiches, a dish called Ghaas-poos Sandwich is very tasty.
Breakfast at this place makes for a great start for the day! :)

Consistently Mindblowing!

I took my mum for breakfast this weekend to Yolkshire (all the way from KP,where I stay). We both had Pasta Primavera and a Lemon Ice Tea to go with it. I have never seen my mum enjoying breakfast with such a wide smile!! The food was out of the world!! The Pasta, Garlic Bread and the Ice Tea was pure perfection!! We also wanted to try the Blueberry waffles, and they were served hot & fresh. We both really liked them, but there was too much blueberry syrup, which was a bit too sweet. I would have preferred the syrup to be either served separately on the side so that I could take only as much as i needed or maybe a little diluted, because it was too sweet. But still I really enjoyed them. Also I wish there was another outlet close to where i live:) Then I wouldn't mind having all my Sunday breakfasts here!

...go settle in "Yolkshire"

As the name suggests, this place serves some crazy egg-preparations.
Loved the Chickecn Pasta Arabiata, Anda Khajina and Cheese and Chilli
and the Chicken Kheema Pav (not all at once! :P )
Really the best place for egg lovers (slightly costly)!
Good place for a weekend lunch! (not very crowded)

Looks like you haven't tried our yummy desserts yet. We claim to serve the CREAMIEST Caramel Custard this side of the town- we say 'this side of the town' because we are very much aware of George's caramel custard on East Street:-)

Would await your review of our desserts.

Egg lovers...place fr u

Egg speciality place...Especially made for egg lovers...

The place is small and the staff is friendly and helpful...

Even though the place is a little bit over priced , it is a must try if you like eggs and omlettes...

For those who havent tried and may find the place a bit costly, you may try the deals for yolkshire on timesdeal.com of "buy 1 get one free"...you just need to bring the print out of the coupon and you are ready to try the specialities of this place...

Eggceptional!

I have grown up knowing that the egg cusine is all about egg curry, omelettes, scrambles and half-frys. Come Yolkshire and I got a reality shock! How can someone think out of the box, (or out of the egg in this case) to such an extent that they could offer over 50 eggxhibits of egg preparations!
During my first visit, when I looked at the extensive menu, I had a lot of apprehensions, simply because, more often than not, differently-conceptualized eateries dont deliver on the food. So I ordered for a desi delight (basic indian omelette, which can only be ruined by taking extra efforts). What was served to me exceeded my expectations on account of the minimum possible oil, nice flavours and brown bread on the side.
During my next visit, I decided to try the anda khagina (egg bhurjee); 'twas made with optimum oil & spice and served with a smile.
Having visited Yolkshire twice in the same fortnight, the law of DMU (diminishing marginal utility) was riding strong; however having mentioned about the place to my then fiancee (now my wife), I took her to Yolkshire for Dinner. This time I wanted to try something on the menu that I hadnt considered in my visits so far. Piperade (a type of scramble) , cheese chilli toast and curry on the egg (with wheat paratha) did wonders to our SOUL!
So far so good....I thought, any more visits would mean that the place loses its appeal and so I stayed away for the next three months. Further, I assumed that the place must've shut down or whatever. But, this place was going strong and they'd a facebook page in place too.
Another visit convinced me that this place was here to stay and grow and delight its patrons!
From then on, there has been no looking back and I have tried all items on their menu and consistently found them to be great!

Kudos to Yolkshire for being consistent on the taste, service and the hygiene!!

I'd strongly recommend the meal omelettes, especially the Lebanese and the mexican ones.

Best egg specialty restaurant I've come across in Pune. We need some more.. What is better is that there are soo few places like this one in Pune, that open so early are fuss free and perfect for a eggetarian at any time of the day.

Would like to see more things on the menu though.

Nothing Great!

We wanted to try out this place from a long time and so on the independence day right after the flag hoisting we headed straight to Yolkshire. The place is tiny, neat and quiet. The service excellent. The staff is very polite and prompt. The menu is mouth-watering. We had two non egg eating and two egg lovers. But were pleasantly surprised that the non egg-eatarians do not need to starve and have good choices. The ordering was easy and special requests too were taken care of. We ordered baked beans on toast, mushroom and corn penne without cheese, a cheese gypsy toast and hungry hungarian with an extra sausage for my hungry eggeater.
The food was served quickly and looked very appetizing. However, the beans were straight out of the can just reheated. The bread tough, no cheese. The pasta was okay, nothing great! The french toast was good and my daughter loved it. The hungry hungarian looked like tutti fruity studded tiny piece of omelet and the side of potatoes was almost non existent. The sausage came coated and fried in egg. I came across this way of serving sausages for the first time. We went to this place unprejudiced, knowing we are in India our expectations were minimal. Unfortunately, this came nowhere close. The juice choice too was limited and only canned juice was available. The extra potatoes side we ordered, since the ones served were negligible, never came up. The accompanying bread was dry, no butter or sides.
I would say its a good enterprise, good choice of menu but a lot of room for improvement as regards, the taste of food served. Aptly priced and fulfills all other requirements of a breakfast place except for the food.

Eggy Yummy

Been here last Saturday and I am happy to say that the experience was more than Satisfactory.
Unable to remember the name of dish, Scrambled egg with Capsicum and Tomato and served with Two slices of Toast, baked beans and potatos. The dish was extremely tasty.
Had a coffee later and it was one of the best I ever drank.

I would although like to suggest for a quicker service. :)

Looking forward for another visit.

You are right about the speed of the service on weekends. It's not a great excuse but since all our dishes (with a few exceptions) are prepared individually against orders, things do slow down a bit on weekends; really sorry for the same.

Egg : the way you want it

I am a regular visitor of Yolkshire. Its always a gr8 experience to enjoy the meals at restaurant. I must say I am inspired by the names of the menu items. Also would like add a specific note about the excellent presentation of the food which makes the food even more mouth watering. I wish all the very best to the team & keep adding new stuff in to the menu card always.

Am really surprised by the critic's comments! I am a regular visitor of Yolkshire since last 6 months. I have never been disappointed by the taste or service. Food and ambience here is excellent.
Maybe some problem for a particular day.

Pathetic service!!!!

I went to Yorkshire on a Sunday evening and was completely taken aback by their pathetic service and apathy towards their customers.
I reached there at around 8pm and saw that the place was full, infact there were around 5-10 people who were waiting to get a seat outside the restaurant. That looked encouraging as people won't wait around for bad food. This was completely wrong as I discovered to my utter dismay in the 2.5 hours of my life that I wasted there.
I got a seat in around half an hour, and I got to sit inside the restaurant. The ambience is really creative as you will discover, there are many nice posters on the walls showing the artworks around the world which have 'eggs' as their theme. But unfortunately there are just 2 tables inside and not many people will get to enjoy the ambience as they will be seated outside.
From this point onwards my experience went from bad to worse...The first thing that I observed was that the place was completely understaffed.. There was just 1 waiter serving the 20-25 people. All the tables were full and he took around 15mins to come to our table and clean it. In another 15mins we were served water and our orders were taken. Finally we were excited to be tasting the stuff as the menu looked very promising. Then we saw that many people had started queuing outside. The owner or the manager was promising to get them seated in 10mins. This was going to be highly impossible as 2 groups who had come in before us had not been served yet. Then the loooooong wait started. We had ordered 3 dishes; a pasta, an omlette and some scrambled egg exotic sounding dish. Eggs are something you can cook in a jiffy and we were astounded as to why it was taking so much time. By this time we had already waited 30 mins and we spoke to the manager to ask him about the whereabouts of our dishes. He said that we would be getting it in the next 10 mins. While waiting we saw that there were a few people who were actually getting served. These were the people who were taking parcels. The restaurant had used the strategy of making the seated people wait and it was serving the waiting people as it was of the opinion that if people are sitting then they can sit forever, whereas the waiting people can leave anytime they want to. We were losing our patience by then and we lost it completely when we told the manager that we would be leaving in 5mins if the food was not served and he merely promised to get the food ready by then. We also saw that a person came to complain about the Garlic bread that they had served with the pasta. His complaint was that the bread was just a normal bread slice and didn't have an iota of garlic flavor. By the looks of it we think that the complaint was completely justified, it did look like a normal bread slice
When the other customers complained about their food not being served, the manager assured them of a glass of orange juice on the house. He did no such thing for us.
Then as promised we got up to leave and the manager didn't bat an eyelash.
We would expect restauranteurs to be more customer oriented in this industry, but that was not the case in Yolkshire.
I don't think I will be going there ever again. I am not a very patient person, but my friend with whom I went definitely is. He was the one who suggested that we get up and go.
This is the first time we have had to wait for such a long while to get our food.
Summary: Go there if you are practicing meditation, otherwise this place will really test your patience. Also go there when you have a lot of time on your hands. Otherwise the Good Luck Cafe is always a good option even though it doesn't serve anything so exotic.
I think is the only place I have ever reviewed without even tasting its food.

egg-xactly what you need on a Sunday!

We reached this place just by chance hunting for something to eat. And I had already had breakfast at Goodluck (Read: Bun Omlette) but came here just to give company to a friend.

What was to unravel in front of us, were probably the best egg dishes I've had!

My friend ordered scrambled eggs with mushrooms and I was tempted to try their French Toast.

The Scrambled Eggs were really nice (Whatever little I could steal while my friend was looking away, because she won't allow me to take it from her plate otherwise!)

The French Toast, was to die for! Very soft and melt-in-your-mouth! Just one little suggestion here.. And this is coming more from of my Masterchef Australia overdose than anything else: The presentation of the French Toast could have been better!

We definitely hadn't had enough.

My friend ordered a corn omlette and I (because of already having had breakfast!) ordered a poached egg..

The corn omlette was decent but the Poached eggs were mind blowing. I know that poached eggs are a no frills dish and all but the perfection to which they were made.. Was delightful..

We ordered some sausages on the side also. Definitely worth a mention!

We wanted to top it all off with some pancakes, but unfortunately they were out of those! May be next time..

So that was that.. With damages after this massive post-breakfast only coming to about Rs. 200!

Definitely a place that will keep me coming back for more!

Great food

I visited only a few hours ago, for lunch. I ordered an omelette reve (chicken stuffed), and my friend ordered a chilli cheese omelette. Both were delightful, cooked to perfection. The baked beans were not the typical sweet ones, but I liked them. Perhaps the portions of potatoes and baked beans could have been larger. Also, I ordered a sausage on the side, which was pretty good. A tad expensive, but I think overall a very good experience. The owner was extremely courteous, and was very involved in the management, along with the rest of the staff. I think that is the best kind of restaurant manager. I give it 4.5/5.
